We decided to park on the street instead of using the complimentary valet parking at $2/hour. We were seated immediately. Our waiter was great. The bread, focaccia, and bruschetta especially the bruschetta was wonderful. Wish we could buy tomatoes like that. The fried calamari was tender and fried perfectly. The accompanying sauce although a little spicy was perfect. My wife said the frutti de mare she ordered was very good. The chicken parm I ordered was the best I have had in many years. I order it often, and am often disappointed. Not true here. It was excellent. The tiramamsu for dessert didn't disappoint. All in all, this was a 10 out of 10. A rating I have not been able to assign to a restaurant very often. read more

Phenomenal birthday celebration thanks to Tony! We came here to celebrate a birthday, and it was an absolutely perfect evening from start to finish EXCEPT for the restaurant manager that was at front of the restaurant with the hostess they were both NOT welcoming at all this is why I am not giving them a 5 stars review. The food was excellent--truly authentic, packed with flavor, and cooked to perfection. You can taste the quality in every dish. Beyond the incredible food, the ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful, strikes the perfect balance of cozy and upscale. What really took the night to the next level, though, was our server, Tony. He was hands-down the best! Tony went above and beyond to make the birthday celebration feel incredibly special, attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. Make sure you save room for dessert because the strawberry shortcake is absolutely to die for, and the after dinner cookies were the perfect sweet finish. However as mentioned the restaurant manager and hostess need a refresher training in hospitality and customer service. read more

Old school New York style Italian restaurant, perfect for special occasions (like when your family from NY or NJ is in town!) my parents love this spot. It reminds me of the 90s in NYC. Food is excellent. They give you some bread with fresh tomatoes to start, along with freshly baked bread and breadsticks. For apps, we went with the eggplant and burrata. The eggplant was great. Reminded me of when we used to take my grandma out to eat at these old Italian restaurants in and around Hoboken back in the day. For dinner, I opted for chicken piccata, instead of the veal option on the menu. The sauce was cooked perfectly, lots of flavor and lots of capers. Each entree comes with mashed potatoes, some cooked carrots and broccoli. Service was very good but I was a little flustered at how quick they wanted to clear everything off the table. I would still like to keep a bread plate if that's okay with everyone! I thought it was a little pricey myself, but hey, we all had a great time and dad paid, so can't complain! read more

LUCA was an excellent and professional waiter. He recited specials like a pro and our service was extraordinary. We frequent Trattoria so we were aware of specials but we always have our favorites. Food is out of this world and ambience is perfect for any occasion, even no occasion at all. Every meal at this Italian restaurant is memorable and outstanding! "A MUST TRY" SUPPORT LOCAL read more

I was really excited to try Trattoria Romana, so unfortunately this visit was a little disappointing. For whatever reason, the food just wasn't up to par or what I was expecting. The highlight of the meal was definitely the dessert, which was excellent. I will say the service was wonderful--very attentive, friendly, and professional-but ambience was fun and lively. I'm hoping this was simply an off night because I had heard such great things and would love to have a better experience next time. read more

Trattoria Romana (TR) is clearly a fine restaurant. The ambiance is upscale and the service impeccable. Nevertheless I cannot get myself to give it 5 stars (okay 4.5) nor do I have any great urge to return. TR is very expensive. I knew that going in, but $23 for a very modest sized portion of fried calamari just seems excessive. While most of the dishes were well prepared (the spaghetti carbonara was excellent) the giant meat ball was very ordinary (my wife's is vastly superior). Tables are small and very close to each other. Hence TR is a loud. Our party of four had a very pleasant evening, but for a special event I would return to Casa D' Angelo a short distance away. read more

The waitress was rude, rushed us, and was very impatient. At the end of the evening the owner came up and very rudely told us people have been waiting for our table for over two hours and we needed to leave. She made us feel like we had taken over the table and outstayed our welcome (keep in mind we waited for our dessert for 20 minutes). She did this to the other two tables next to us so about 25 people left at once and valet was a nightmare. Our entire meal was about 2 hours, so if other people had been waiting that long, that means they overbooked. Everyone getting kicked out was in shock with how rude she was, and all 3 tables said they wouldn't be coming back because of the rude encounter. There are so many great Italian restaurants with excellent service nearby. Don't waste your time with how they treat their guests. read more

This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Boca Raton. From the ambiance which is classic Italian and the service was very professional the last couple of times we had excellent waiters that explained everything and answered every single question I had. The last time there I ordered the Yellowtail oregnata it came with delicious mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables all fantastic. The time before I ordered the lobster tails sautéed in garlic and olive oil...also perfectly done. The bruchetta at the beginning of the meal is a great starter. Baked clams oregnata also great. It's easy to recommend this place for any occasion. read more

I had the short ribs and they were absolutely amazing--so tender and full of flavor! For appetizers, we ordered the burrata, which was pretty decent, calamari which was good, and beets salad which were just okay. I didn't try the meatballs, but they came out as one large portion and I was told they were amazing. The bruschetta was especially flavorful--the sauce from the tomato was so good you'd want to literally spoon it up. The service was excellent, and the ambiance is very cozy and beautifully decorated with vines hanging from the ceiling, giving it a warm, inviting feel. We came here for a friend's birthday and he was given a cake with a candle, which I initially thought was complimentary, but it wasn't. It would have been helpful if we were informed ahead of time so we could have chosen a different dessert. Overall, still a great dining experience. read more

Dinner last night at Trattoria Romana was fabulous. Upon arrival we were seated right away. It was 7 PM Sunday evening and the main dining area was packed. Our waiter came to us, introduced himself., took our drink order which was the beginning of a terrific evening of great food, and friends. Caesar salad, a meatball ( one) that was large and delicious over linguine, and a Burrata dish were excellent Followed by a pounded Veal Chop., and Veal Piccata which were fabulous. Cappacino, coffee, and the check and the realization that Trattoria Romana in Boca is a gem, not to be missed. It's season now so a reservation is a must, If you've haven't dined here, try it, you'll love it. If you've been here before then you know how good this restaurant is. Valet parking is available. Always the best Itailano Resturante in Boca! This is our real go to for a great meal.

From the moment we sat down, this place made us feel so welcomed. They brought out plenty of complimentary appetizers, which was such a nice touch, and the drinks were absolutely delicious. The ambiance was warm and inviting and truly made me feel like I was in Italy. I ordered the lobster ravioli, and the vodka sauce was incredible and absolutely to die for. Such a great experience and we will definitely be back! read more

Great service and great food! Rarely do we find a restaurant where our family finds MULTIPLE options on the menu to choose from, but we definitely had our hands full choosing from such a great range of options. One of the things we were most impressed with is the amount of specials being offered. And the entrees were just the beginning. Word for the wise leave room for dessert because the tiramisu is AMAZING. They have a long wine list and they celebrate birthdays! Only point is like to make is our family of 6 felt a little squished at our table, but not so cramped that I would take off a star. Thank you so much for a great meal and night! read more

I had been to Trattoria a while back for a business dinner but most recently, my BF made a reservation for us to celebrate my birthday. He asked for bar seating, and as soon as we got in, two places were already set for us to sit. Our server was amazing, very attentive and very friendly. He went over the specials, poured us water and with the complimentary bread service in front of us, allowed us some time to decide on our dishes. The meatball appetizer sounded delicious and it absolutely was. Honestly think this is a MUST! As my entrée I had the gnocchi with ricotta, and added chicken (as you can customize any dish). This was heavenly, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The chicken was tender and the ricotta on tops, enough to have a bit on every bite. Just perfection. To finish, we had the ricotta cheesecake, another win! and they added a candle for my birthday. Outstanding service, fresh delicious food and great wine list... what more can you ask for? read more

Overall, the food was excellent! Went with a group and we all loved our food. They start with bread and bruschetta with fresh tomatoes from Italy...wow! They were so fresh and delicious! For apps, we ordered the stuffed meatballs...awesome, best salad, burrata and calamari, all very good. For dinner, I ordered the veal chop special. It was good but since it was pounded so thin, some bites were a little tough. My girlfriend ordered the short ribs over pasta...delicious! Everyone else said they liked what they ordered. For dessert, we ordered the strawberry shortcake, also delicious! Service was very good and the atmosphere was lovely. read more

Highly recommend reserving hightop table in the bar area for a date night. The complimentary bruschetta so basil tomato fresh. The clam linguini so delicious- house made pasta incredible. Chicken parm so comforting and the sauce so delicious. Super fun people watching and fantastic service. read more

Three of us dined here for my bday in July. The highlight for me was the tomatoes w/bread (complementary) and Beets w/goat cheese. It all went down from there. I got linguini w/white clam sauce but it was so salty I could barely eat it. I didn't feel like returning it since the starters filled me up so I didn't say anything until after the bill was paid. When I told the server she I apologized and offered to bring me something else to take home. I chose the crab cake over pasta w/vodka sauce. I ate that for dinner the next night. It lacked flavor completely. The big fried crab cake ball was lump crabmeat and a ton of flavorless filler. I order CC's all the time so I know my stuff. The vodka sauce was also bland. Complete contrast to my other meal. But THE WORST PART was that, although we each had our own dishes and didn't really share, 30 hours after dining there and each eating leftovers the next night for dinner, we all got sick (both ends) in the middle of the night. Doing some research it was likely Norovirus bc sickness symptoms typically appear 24 to 48 hours after exposure. We don't live together and we were only together for my bday dinner that night so we definitely caught it at the restaurant somehow. I called the restaurant to let them know the entire experience and they said no one else had called to say they got sick... OK that doesn't really mean anything bc a lot of people wouldn't suspect it was from a restaurant they ate at two nights prior unless you only ate leftovers like we all did. I'm sure this was an unusual experience as far as getting sick as concerned, but the fact that I didn't like either meal makes me not want to go back anyway. They sent me a $50 giftcard to apologize so I may go back and get the excellent beet salad and some drinks at the bar... or just gift it to someone else. read more

Trattoria Romana is a Boca Raton staple! Every dish we have ever ordered from here has been delicious. Tonight, we ordered the rigatoni Bolognese, lobster ravioli, steak and fries, eggplant with rigatoni, & the strawberry shortcake for dessert. The lobster ravioli was a special, and the rigatoni Bolognese wasn't on the menu; however, I highly suggest ordering both. The meat sauce was one of the best I've ever had. Also, the strawberry shortcake was so big you can definitely share it. I recommend making reservations as they are always packed. You can also get a car wash while dining, which I think is so cool. read more

We have enjoyed this restaurant for a number of years. Last night we took friends who hadn't been there before and we were greeted by a hostess who was making mocking gestures to one of the staff, possibly a manager and then at us. I asked her if everything was ok and she just gave us a look, took us to our table and kept walking...really a poor first impression. Had we not experienced the outstanding food, we would have left. I assured our friends she was obviously having a bad day and not indicitive of the typical service here. Our server was amazing...attentive and funny. As usual the food was divine. The meatball, the special veal chop with eggplant and the hog snapper were highlights. Fortunately, our friends kept an open mind and didn't judge the place based on our initial reception. read more

Came here with co-workers for dinner on a Tuesday evening... dinner time was 8PM and this place was PACKED! Crazy how popular this place is, but after looking at the menu and tasting the food, I could see why... they're a pretty darn good Italian joint! Their menu is quite complete with all the Italian popular items... then, the server advised us of the specials, which was a really long list and that was even better! They even had fresh hog fish here!! All food was made with fresh ingredients and tasted great! Their meatball appetizer is huge, definitely splitable between 4 people and it was excellent! The meat was flavorful and tender and the sauce was great! The hog fish was incredible! Their chicken parm is huge and tender too! And save room for dessert because the ricotta cheesecake was excellent, but what was incredible was their strawberry shortcake! Highly recommend coming here! read more

Disappointed After Many Years of Great Visits We've been regulars at Trattoria Romana for many years, celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. It's always been our go-to spot, but after our visit last night, we're sad to say it no longer holds the same magic. We were seated quickly, and the restaurant wasn't too crowded, which made conversation easy. Our waiter was pleasant when we saw him, though he was running around, which is typical. I ordered the osso buco, and my husband ordered a pasta special with clams. A few minutes later, he changed his order to a dish with langoustines, and the waiter said it wouldn't be an issue. When the main courses arrived, I was given the pasta dish with clams instead of my osso buco. The waiter blamed a kitchen mistake but assured me it would only take a few minutes to fix. 25 minutes later, my osso buco finally arrived, but by then, my husband was already finished with his meal. I asked the waiter to take it back and off the check. He didn't offer any alternatives or apologize at first and told me, "It's not up to me to do anything." Eventually, the waiter did apologize several times and removed two cocktails from the bill, but by then, the night had already been ruined. It's especially disappointing since this has been our go-to place for so long, and the lack of attention to the issue made the whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I hope this was just an off night, but after so many positive experiences, we're left wondering if things have changed. read more

Food is delicious. Atmosphere feels family oriented. Love the music by the accordion player!!!

We were in this past weekend for my gals birthday dinner, and wow did trattoria Romana not disappoint. We had reservations on a Thursday rainy night. I had added a note that we would like bar seating. when we arrived the bar area was full but they had already put down a couple placemats and held an area for us. The helpful and kind bartender/server got us a couple great glasses of wine and some bruschetta to start. Huge chunks of a very fresh tomato were memorable. I followed up with some pasta Faggioli. That was excellent. He read through the specials and we locked in on a couple of them. I got the Stuffed shrimp, and she got the gnocchi. Both came out pretty quick, and both were crazy good. I don't think we could have gone wrong with their menu but were definitely winning with our picks. We finished with a very classy piece of cheesecake. It was the more fluffy kind(prefer a dense cheesecake), but good none the less. Its a pricey place, but they back it up. A great case of you get what you pay for, a quality experience. read more

For the price, this restaurant is not worth going to. It's very expensive. The hostess should learn to smile and be friendly to customers. The waiter was pretty good. He was really good with hood wine recommendation. He really rushed us though. He brought the bill while we were still having dessert and coffee. Rude. The food was so so. The swordfish was dry. The waiter explained that's because it's a meaty fish rather than a flaky one. That's not why. It was because it was overcooked. The main dishes came with very boring veggies, carrots, broccoli and makes potato. Given the prices, there should have been rapini or brussel sprouts or anything of interest. Overall a very disappointing experience leaving us feel ripped off. We won't be going back. read more

Marcelo has this calm way of making everyone around him feel taken care of without ever making it look forced. He pays attention to the little things, remembers what people like, and somehow keeps up with everything while still being genuinely kind. Sweet, patient, attentive -- all of it comes naturally to him, and it honestly changes the whole experience. read more

Placed an order Saturday night, ordered a pasta fragile soup among other items. Opened the container of soup, and it had a gross disgusting glob of something, looked like a movable, jelly, plastic piece of something with a metal round numbered item in it. Could not would not ever eat this. Poured it out in my sink only to find a second round metal numbered piece at the bottom of the soup being pored out. I have photos and called the restaurant. I spoke with the front desk , then Franco. they were dismissive and unapologetic. I was calling only to alert them of the dangers and the disgust, and confusion and wanting to know what those items in my soup were. First spoke with staff at dest then transferred to Franco( owner) who switched me off without a word, staff coming back on telling me they will call me tomorrow, but will reimburse me for my soup. I tried to explain my reason for calling was safety and health concerns, they did NOT CARE!!! They were busy seating people. This call was aprox 20-30 minutes of my time, more valuable than a container of soup!!! We have been patrons for a time, the restaurant is insulting, unsafe, does not care about the safety and consequences of their patrons. This experience, not only the disgusting, unsafe, and vile , is disrespectful and will not be forgotten. read more

I've been going here on and off for many years. Even during weekdays in summer this place remains very popular. Service is polished a mainstay of this restaurant's popularity along with good food. Overall the food is good. It's not great, very good or fair. The osso bucco I had this time around was that. Good. Not a lot of taste or flavor. Tartufo was good too. We are a party of 5 and we really enjoyed our meal. We were promptly seated and then greeted by our server. He explained all the specials and said we could also make up anything else. One of our guests is vegetarian and she asked for the chef to make up a dish. No problem. All of our dishes came out extremely hot (not spicy but cooked hot). Delicious does not describe how good all the food was. The broccoli rabe was diced perfectly. I prefer the tops of the rabe over the 'stumpy' ends but how it was prepared we gobbled it all! We all ate our hearty dishes with gusto and barely came up for air. As a side note all the staff were extremely courteous and respectful of us.
