I usually get the Arthur Ave, it comes with prosciutto, stracciatella, arugula, and sundried peppers. I like to add pesto, which really takes it to the next level. My boyfriend can't have cheese, so he orders the Arthur Ave without it and swaps in lettuce for the arugula. He also adds tomato, pickle, and onion, and loves it every time. After trying out the Palm Beach Gardens location, I decided to check out the Deerfield location and it was still amazing! I got the Genoa sandwich this time around and it was overall amazing. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and paired well with the pesto sauce and I fell in love with the mozzarella. The star of the show was of course the focaccia bread! This hole in the wall place is such a hidden gem and I highly recommend anyone to check it out. The bread was seeded, super soft, with a little nice crust on the outside. The pink sauce and pesto worked really well together, they didn't overpower one another or the taste of the mozz and chicken cutlet. There's an insane amount of chicken on this sandwich, so if you are struggling to meet your protein goals, this is the sandwich for you. It also came with a little side of sauce, which is really nice considering I got it to go, and by the time I got home the sauce had seeped into the bread and such. Sadly, it didn't. The bread was dry, the chicken was bland and overcooked, and I had to ask for extra pesto just to get some flavor. The mozzarella was sparse and nothing tasted fresh. My husband ordered the Philly cheesesteak, and he barely made it through half -- it was also dry and totally lacking in flavor. Honestly, we've had better subs from Publix. Another place I really wanted to try during winter break is What'Sub. This authentic New York style, Italian deli has been heavily featured on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube because they are that good! The food is top notch but so is the friendly service given by owner Antonio Spadaro and staff. What'Sub is located in plaza next to Baja Cafe. It still says Moe's Deli and Grill outside. I stopped by near closing time to pick up something for dinner and I couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. I was even given some cheese to try while I waited. The majority of the meat, and cheese and other sandwich toppings are imported from Italy. They also have a market that sells Italian oil, pasta, jams, balsamic vinegar, meat, and cheese. The inside is not frills but there are a few tables inside and a couple more out front. After consulting the menu I felt like a hot sandwich and I decided on the chicken parm sub. The thin cutlets were cooked perfectly. No chewy, rubber chicken here. With the sauce and thick mozzarella, it was perfection. I was even given extra red sauce to dip my sandwich in. You can also get the sandwich made with meatballs or eggplant. My meal came with a drink and I saw they had Sanpellegrino, an Italian sparkling soda. What'Sub has the tag line seeds or no seeds. I got one of the last rolls of the day so it was seeds for me which was fine. You can't go wrong either way because all of the bread is baked in house. If you do have a preference come earlier in the day because they can sell out of popular items. Antonio recommended I come back to try the focaccia and I will along with the social media popular Arthur Ave sandwich made with prosciutto di parma, arugula, stracciatella, and sundried peppers. They also offer Italian specialties that include arancine alla carne and al burro, meat lasagna, meatballs, pasta, and eggplant tower, salads, and other hot and cold sandwiches. Back again for a take out order. A couple things I learned. If you get a "call failed" when you try them during business hours, it just means they are super busy and not taking phone orders. Order over their web site or visit in person. As a pesco-veggie, I wanted to try something different off the menu. I expressed some constructive feedback with the manager (owner?) to offer up some more veggie friendly options or substitutes. He said that you can swap out meat with eggplant, peppers, tomatoes etc. Just note the request in the comments box when ordering online. He said they will soon have an app and that will make it easier to make modifications. So if you want a caprese sandwich, you can ask for one. I hope they just add one to their menu to make it even easier. I ordered the mortadella sandwich and swapped the ham with eggplant. It was insanely delicious. The eggplant mixed with the cheese and pesto on their great focaccia bread, this sandwich is a winner for vegetarians. My husband had The Fully Loaded sandwich and said it was made to perfection. The bread here is so good. On a Saturday, this place is quite busy until about 2. That includes the inside tables too. I suggest ordering ahead if in the lunch window. read more

When I voiced my concerns about my first visit I was immediately contacted by the owner apologizing for my negative experience and offered for myself and an additional person to try their sandwiches again. I finally made it back down to Deerfield and was greeted by Rina an exceptional hard working woman who welcomed myself and my partner with open arms and sincere apologies for my previous experience. I got my Arthur Ave on their focaccia bread today. When it arrived to the table the presentation was impressive and just a beautiful sandwich overall. Loaded with prosciutto, stracciatella, sun dried tomatoes and arugula. I have been on a hunt to try and find a sandwich just like the one I had in Italy this summer and this is definitely it! I have already made plans to come back next month and many more times in the future. The texture of the bread was soft with a nice crunchy texture to it. It was a very light bread that didn't make you feel like a rock was sitting in your stomach after you ate it. The prosciutto was sliced perfectly and it was loaded with so much stracciatella it kept falling out of the sandwich. All of the flavors blended so well together. If you're looking for the store, you may miss it because there's so is not up yet. It's under an old Italian deli sign. My friend got a Philly cheesesteak. He loved it and could not finish the whole thing. I got a sopressata and provolone on a seated Italian bread that they bake themselves. The bread was excellent crunchy on the outside soft on the inside. My sandwiches are very large, but I managed to fit it in within the hour. It also came with two drinks as part of the lunch package. Nice refreshing blood orange club soda in a can. If you interested, you could go to the end of the strip center and get some Dandee Donuts as well. Great lunch with an old friend. read more

came here for the gabagool ! Fuuugetaboutit! Honestly they were all great workers and the subs were just as good! i had a chicken cutlet sub with fresh muttz pesto and peppers. My wife and son had the Buto which was pretty funny because I learned about the place on the Buto's podcast, i know the old man through Zuccarellis and he always been a good man so i trusted him saying the food was good. When i walked in the owner asked if i was a first timer and let me try something some cheese and pesto that was out of this world. Very nice guy you can tell he caters to his customers and cares. This hidden gem is wonderful. And if you get to meet manager Rich and try their subs or Italian specialties, you'll understand why... We stopped by their store on the east side of US 1/Federal Highway as we had been to this location before when it was called Spadaro's. The sign on the building is still reading Moe's Deli, however, so don't be confused. This is the right place. It's not a full-service restaurant, but a deli/market with a few tables inside and a couple tables outside. The menu is similar, but with a few twists and a new name. We were immediately greeted by Rich who welcomed us. And explained the venue's name, etc. As we were deciding what to order, he gave us a taste of their sun-dried peppers. Yes, peppers...not tomatoes. They were delicious so of course I had to add them to my sub sandwich. As did my husband to his choice. We chose to eat inside. My husband had their mediterranean tuna sub. It came with lettuce and some other goodies. He liked it a lot especially since it was neither overloaded with mayo nor dry. I had their prosciutto and mozarella sub. It was very good, as well. I ate half and brought the other half home for a later meal. They make all their breads in house. Subs come on a seeded long roll or a plain one. They even had focaccia bread, if you prefer. Drinks (chosen from the cooler) come with each sub choice so we helped ourselves. An expresso or cappucino is free here also. I tried a slice of their apricot pie. It was not overly sweet and reminded me of tarta de Nona with its powdered sugar and layer of filling. I'd certainly get this again, also. My husband enjoyed his coffee with a taste of my dessert. In addition to hot and cold subs, they have some Italian specialities. There is a small board on the counter with the daily items. And you can see in the case, the meatballs, rice balls, chicken and veal cutlets, and lasagna. They also do pasta. They are happy to customize the meals as well as the subs so don't be afraid to ask. While waiting for our subs to be prepared, we got to browse some of the shelf items -- pasta, tomato paste, marinated veggies, dried mushrooms, oregano from italy, etc. They do a lot of take out and also deliver through grub hub. Absolutely run to WhatSub Deli at 1330 S. Federal Highway--you won't regret it. Owned by Antonio Spadaro, this place takes Italian deli to a whole new level, importing top-notch ingredients (virtually everything is imported; he only uses Boar's Head for the basics like turkey and ham). The real game-changers are the bread baked in-house, including delicious focaccia and crusty seeded rolls. Just note that they close at 5 PM, and the menu is curated and short, but what they do is superb. The backstory of WhatSub is as rich as its food. It's related to Casa Della Mozzarella in the Bronx and Spadaro Roman Kitchen in New Rochelle. Initially opened as Spadaro, taking over the old Moe's Deli space on Federal (it still has the original signage), the deli switched to the name "WhatSub" because the former name set customer expectations for a full-service Italian restaurant, which wasn't what Antonio was going for. Try the Sicilian-style lasagne with besamella (a creamy bechamel) and a sweet Sicilian-style sauce--it's exceptional. The meatballs are another must-try: all-beef, breaded, deep-fried Roman style, served with a rich pink sauce that's phenomenal. The "Arthur Ave" sandwich on focaccia with aged prosciutto, arugula, stracciatella, and sundried peppers? A masterpiece. We also tried chicken cutlets and a sopressata made with fennel which were fantastic. Could we have ordered more, yeah, but then I wouldn't have been able to move afterwards. What a fantastic find!! This is my second trip to this amazing authentic Italian sandwich shop. The first time I left dreaming of my tuna salad sandwich on focaccia bread and had to return to try more option. This time I tried the Arther ave and the Milano sandwich paired with a taster of their pesto mozzarella, a soda, a cappuccino, and a cannoli (all of which were included) in the cost of the sandwich!! Who I thought may have been the owner was very pleasant and friendly, he offered us so many extras to make sure our experience was getting a real taste of what they offer and look forward to seeing him again at our next visit.
