Entrance on Hillsboro

Ordered two "hot combos" which are corned beef and pastrami sandwiches. One sandwich used gluten free bread and I was told "the bread was not as dense as other gluten free options and it was ok, but obviously not better than the rye." My sandwich on rye was excellent. The sliced pickles are always my choice and they are delicious too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is small and sandwiches are sliced to order so it takes some time but well worth it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This restaurant is awesome. The food is beyond tasty. The service was very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was warm and pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ended here on a family referral. My dad is sick and asked for a corned beef sandwich with a pickle. Unfortunately the food didn't last long. We will come back again as long as he can make it. This is a hole in the wall established and I love everything about the restaurant with all that it offers!

Absolutely obsessed! Grabbed a container of matzo ball soup and my husband a sandwich and it was so delicious. I cannot recommend this place enough!! They even have a deli classic like bagel chips which went perfectly with my soup!! Defintely one of the best delis in So-Flo!!!

I have driven by the Pickle Barrel Deli dozens, if not a hundred times and just went today for the first time. We had great sandwiches for lunch. I had a roast beef sandwich on rye bread and my wife had tuna on a bagel. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is spotlessly clean and well organized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are several tables for eating there and they also do a busy takeout business as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm posting some nice photos so you can get a good idea of what is inside (and so you don't wait so many years to stop in, like I did)

This was a huge fabulous sandwich that was shareable. Delicious! We had this sandwich two days ago and we are still talking about it! The service was great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has that NY deli vibe on a smaller scale.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone was friendly and helpful. A return visit is definitely needed!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a really cute place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's small only a few tables so if you want to eat in you better prepare to wait or get there early.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] there is no waiter service. You order at the counter and then you wait at a table for your food or you wait in the restaurant for your food to go. They have big coolers with soda. lots of Dr Brown's. An assortment of cookies and pastries Are available. They offer different size sandwiches, regular and large from what I see. What I had very tasty, but I asked for a large, and to be honest it didn't really look like a lot of meat on there. I also ordered the split pea soup and that was delicious. All in all it's a really good restaurant and I enjoy it myself. I would have to say I recommend this place.

The Deli is cute. It has a small sitting area inside. The place is very clean. The menu is listed on a board on top of the counter. It is a good size menu. I got the regular pastrami sandwich and matzo ball soup. That sandwich was a good size and it was regular size. I liked it. I got the matzo ball soup to go. I haven't tried it. It does look good. The staff was friendly. The service was fast. I heard the cookies calling me and that is when I left. I was trying to be good lol. Those cookies did look good.

Reuben Sandwich. GOOD. A fat Sandwich stacked with Corned Beef, Coleslaw, RUSSIAN Dressing and SWISS Cheese on JEWISH Rye. Also served with Cucumbers which were not pickled along with DIRTY Potato Chips as Sides. RECOMMEND.

A great local deli! I got a roast beef sandwich on challah bread (to-go) and the meat tasted perfect. My sandwich came with pickles too. My sandwich was a little pricey at almost $20, but I made it into two meals. It's been a while since I've been here and I completely blanked while ordering, but cashier was nice and patient. They really should have a better menu displayed showing the selections of what you can get for bread and toppings. Parking is awful, so you may need to drive around to find a spot.

I met a friend for lunch at the Pickle Barrel after reading many positive reviews. The girl at the counter was very pleasant and helpful. There were 4 employees working the sandwich line and all remained busy. There wasn't anything on the menu that I wouldn't try but I selected the tuna salad on white bread. Living up to its name it was served with several pickles. My sandwich with tax and tip, no drink came to $16. Initially, we were the only diners eating in, but they were very busy with takeout orders, by the time we left the small dining area was pretty full. If you are interested in an authentic deli experience with large sandwiches, I recommend a visit to Pickle Barrel Deli

Food quality is great, if the cashier gave better service it would be. 5 star spot, but she was not even adequate which is a real shame.

Despite the lack of a/c and rough conditions they were in, the staff were super friendly behind the counter. My husband and I orders some delicious subs on fresh sesame seed bread. We also ordered a cannoli which they hand fill. It was the best cannoli I have had in South Florida and tasted like the ones I used to enjoy from the North End in Boston. Finally a great cannoli! Due to the power issue, it was a little dark inside. However, this is a true, lived in authentic Italian deli. Again, if you're from up North, you will feel like you are at home here. We split the Chicken Cutlet Florentine and it was absolutely incredible. Heads up: the full size is massive, so splitting it is definitely the move and still totally worth it!! Laspada had a lit up sign in the window saying they're "open." I seem to recall Next Door Boca giving them decent reviews. I am a native of Philly, hometown of the hoagie. I thought I'd give this place a try. I ran from my car through the rain and tugged on the door....locked. The door hours say open at 11! So much for the lit "open" sign. They have outdoor metal tables and chairs under an awning. I sat at an outdoor table for ten minutes. I looked through the storefront window at a couple employees prepping and I read the wall menu. A guy unlocked the place at 11. I let a young family and several other guys go ahead of me. Guy at the slicing wheel waited on me. I ordered a small Mama Lastrada turkey & salami on wheat. There's about a half dozen employees behind the counter dealing with the assembly line of customers and sandwiches. Guy at the slicing wheel tells me one of the other guys will work on my sandwich. Okay. However, I can't move down the line because there's customers still lined up ahead of me waiting for their food. Slicing wheel guy looks up at me a minute later and asks what he can get for me. I look back at him waiting for him to recognize me from a minute ago when he already had sliced my order. No recognition! I repeated my order to him. Now he remembers me! He again refers me to one of his junior sandwich prep guys. I overheard him telling a busy junior guy, "This is just a small Mama on wheat" or something like that. Still, I can't go down the line because there's guy ahead of me had placed an order for 3 sandwiches. I swear to you that the slicing wheel guy asks me for a THIRD time for my order! By this time, I felt like I was in a Monty Python sketch. I repeated my order. Again, he refers me to a third junior associate (Manny, Moe, and Jack)? Finally, a young associate asked me for toppings. I had noticed two lettuce bins. One bin looked fine. The other looked a little brown. I decided to skip the lettuce rather than ask him to pick from the left hand bin and embarrass them. I also saw a black speck in the onion bin. It probably was nothing but I decided to skip onions just to be safe. I chose tomatoes, Swiss cheese, pickles and sweet peppers. The debit card reader asks if I want to tip. I skipped that. Price was reasonable. Hoagie was okay. The roll was soggy. Philly hoagie shops pride themselves on their rolls. I understand this is Florida, not Philly. I can appreciate this place is popular and busy. However, being asked for my order 3 times by the same experienced worker there left me feeling less than special as a customer.

We came here with friends and I'll give credit where it's due. The beach view is spectacular. The kind of view that makes you forget your phone exists for a minute. Ocean, breeze, the whole postcard situation. Absolutely nails it. And then the food shows up... and things take a turn. I went with the blackened fish sandwich. Cooked properly, no complaints there. But flavor? It felt like it forgot to show up for work. Just kind of... there. Unfortunately, that wasn't even the low point. My wife went with the fish tacos and called them straight up terrible. Not "meh." Not "could be better." Terrible. And that pretty much set the tone for the table. So now we're not talking mid anymore. We're talking mid-to-poor across the board when it comes to food. This is still a great spot to sit, relax, and enjoy a drink while staring at the ocean and pretending you didn't come here hungry. If you're coming for the food, just know you're here for the view that happens to serve meals, not the other way around. Pro tip: only do the outdoor seating. The view is the whole reason you came here. Inside, you're just eating disappointing food without the ocean doing heavy lifting. Two stars. The view is doing everything it can, but it can't season the fish.
