This pub stands out with its unique Korean hanok style window panes and cool upper interior details. There's just so much to look at and admire within the restaurant. The menu offers ice blended makgeolli, whiskey highballs, draft beers and of course plenty of shareable bar foods. There is a mandatory 10% fee as well as a strict no tipping policy. This is common in South Korea as well since tipping is not apart of their culture. * Rose tteokbokki- this was probably my favorite dish out of everything we ordered. We added instant noodles and it was the right choice. The creamy thick sauce coated the noodles and rice cakes well. I did feel like it could be a tad bit saltier and spicier. The sausage, bacon bits, and fish cake were delicious. The dish as a whole felt very onion forward- like too much onion flavor. * pork belly with kimchi- The kimchi was delicious, very bold flavors and nice acidic profile. The pork belly cuts were quite thin so the meat was on the drier side. I enjoyed the roasted garlic and cuts of pepper. * peach flavor ice blended makgeolli- this was so refreshing and delicious. All their dishes are big portions so usually my friends and I order a bunch of different entrees and eat it family style which is better because you can try a bit of everything on their menu. If you haven't tried their Mala Tang yet, I highly recommend it if you're okay with spice! I love a good Mala Tang and this spice is just perfect for me. It's spicy but still enjoyable. We notice right away once we walked in that it was like a bar setting where loud music was playing and people were drinking and speaking loudly. The ambiance is more for a social setting than a Friday night dinner. Kimchi Pork Belly 2/10 - It tastes like the way it looks. It was just a fried pork belly with pan fried kimchi, roasted garlic and jalapeños. There was nothing special about it. The pork belly was a bit dry and under seasoned. Garlic Wings 3/10 - The garlic flavor was intense. It really packs a flavor but was too salty. After 2 pieces, it was overwhelming. The chicken was parts of a chicken, where some parts had many bones, bones that was overcooked and broke, making it a bit dangerous to eat because the bones were so cooked, it would break into pieces, making it difficult to eat. Parts of the chicken were dry. It was not fun to eat. Cheesy Popping Corn Pancake 1/10 - It just tastes like cheese and corn. That's it. I could only eat a piece because it was too cheese. It was just corn and cheese. That's it, panned fried. Nothing special. Honesty, I think I would've have had a better time if we had better service. We didn't get served our cold tea until we asked for it. Everyone who sat after us got their drinks and a paper menu. We got no acknowledgement at all. It was so difficult to ask for service. I've been here a handful of times and we always get served by Chris. He would roll eyes to us just for us to place our order and would make comments like "oh my gosh" for getting to-go boxes. It just makes our dining and ambiance terrible. It's just so sad there's no way to file a complaint. It made me and friends uncomfortable each time. If it happened once, that would be totally fine. I usually don't write reviews but for this restaurant I have a lot to say: I really enjoyed their reverse-service concept as it's very unique. Instead of the server serving you, you get the immersive experience of being the server yourself. First, there was no designated server who greeted us when seated, so after some time we just flagged someone down to take our order. Make sure to order everything right then as it gets pretty annoying trying to catch their attention. For a party of 6 people we were seated in a small table that was probably meant for a party of 4 people (we even had to ask for an extra chair). This wouldn't have been a big deal if it were not for the server placing our food on the table. When the server brought out our first dish, he just stood there and waited. He didn't offer to help make space and just watched us clear the table like we were the ones on shift. Their motto must be "no tips means no pre-bussing" because no one cleared a single plate. With zero table space and more dishes coming out, we were basically playing real-life Tetris. We also had to tell two different servers to refill our empty pitcher until we finally got it. Thanks to the server who listened though! As for the food, nothing really stood out. The only decent dishes were the pork belly and kimchi pancake. To end on a positive note, I liked the ambience of the restaurant as it is a great way to catch up with friends and family. The pricing of the foods is also affordable and there is no tipping. TLDR: I didn't think I was going to enjoy a South Korean beer house, but I was clearly wrong. I feel that their food is priced well and the flavors are very good. They don't rely on alcohol to make the food eventually taste good, and I could subscribe to the idea that they wanted to make a restaurant that serves good food that goes great with alcohol while serving alcohol. Tasty Corn Pancake: Sweet corn on a thin cheesy crust. I'd like to describe the flavor further but the first sentence is all that you really need. I think this is a good starter, but there are much better things in the menu if you want more sophisticated ingredients. Fried chicken: It's probably the worst bite in terms of flavor. The chicken was on the dryer side, but the crispiness was there. The chicken was seasoned, but I guess I just wasn't a fan of their batter mixture. Grilled Pork Belly & Kimchi: The pork belly is stock standard. Unmarinated and relies heavily on the fat for flavor. This dish takes a step up because of the kimchi. I don't know what they did to the kimchi, but it's the only kimchi that I will openly eat even after the mains arrive. The dish comes with whole cloves of garlic and green chili peppers, which offer diners options in terms of flavor and spice levels. Seafood and Green Onion Pancake: I've had many of these through the years and I think this one is one of the better ones that I've had. I like the taste of the base of the pancake and I like that there was a good amount of seafood and green onions in there. Can recommend. I noticed that it did take longer for parties who had more people and you had to stick around outside to hear your name being called out when it was your turn. Food comes to the table fairly quickly. They have tablets where you can order the food now, which makes it convenient. I give it four stars though because the staff seem inattentive for a restaurant that isn't that big in size. We asked for a water refill for our pitcher (which had already been completely empty for 20 minutes), and we were given half a pitcher of water, which barely filled up four cups to half full each. It felt like the water was being rationed. The staff don't come around asking if you need anything either. I think it's because you can generally order anything you need from the tablets, but unfortunately for us our tablet was broken so it was back to manual service - which was lacking lol! You also don't tip. They auto-charge 10% "gratuity" on the bill. There's limited seating so there is typically a wait time if you're there during peak eating hours. Would still come back just for the deep fried intestine though. Also, if you're REALLY hungry, this place won't fill you up. Unless you're guzzling beer or something. She got us seated after about 35 minutes of waiting (but didn't mind because we walked around the mall!). Our table had water (don't know what was in it, but loved it!). Server came to us in good time, but didn't help us any time after that - reason why I docked 1 star. But the food came out pretty quick. The soup and pancake came out last. The wait staff bringing out our food was nice and placed everything is carefully on our table - thanks to them! They helped us with extra chopsticks because we dropped some and more water. Love this place. ALL the food was REALLY GOOD. The corn pancake was super huge. The fried intestines were unique and they even come with a sauce, green onions, and pickled onions. The stir-fried pork came on a sizzling pan to keep it hot. The spicy seafood noodle soup came with lots of seafood in it and the soup was really good. Even the lemon highball was really good. After we were seated, it took another 15 mins for us to flag someone down so we can put in our order. Many times, the server avoided eye contact. The food was tasty, but wasn't the best. We got the braised short rib but it was too salty! We also got the fried chicken but it was not crispy. It was covered in sauce which can contribute to it not being super crispy, but if you were to order from other Korean fried chicken places like pelicana or bbq it's super crispy even when doused in sauce. We also got the stir fried pork belly & kimchi. This one was yummy, and I have no complaints here. Lastly, we ordered the seafood noodle soup and no complaints here either. i really wanted to like Misoolgwan because the staff here is friendly and welcoming, but the food experience was pretty hit or miss for us we originally ordered the wagyu beef with veggies, but the dish came out with almost no meat at all, so we ended up canceling it. we also got the tteokbokki -- the flavor just tasted like ramen seasoning powder & it only came with two rice cakes at first. the staff was kind enough to bring us more after we let them know. one thing I wasn't sure about was the water setup -- it comes out of a white plastic trash bin, which made me question the hygiene ?? the food quality and consistency could use some improvement. hoping they can make a few changes because the concept is cool and has potential! read more

Hands down the best Korean pub I've been to! The Muscat cocktail is a must-try -- smooth, fruity, and you can barely taste the alcohol, which was perfect for me. We ordered their popular spicy pork belly with kimchi (a favorite of mine), and it never disappoints. The corn cheese was massive -- definitely great for sharing. We couldn't resist adding the rose tteokbokki, and it was just as good. The truffle fries were decent, but I'd probably try something else next time. That said, service was excellent -- super attentive staff and surprisingly no wait on a Saturday around 7 PM. In terms of setting, the little stools can be lifted up to store your belongings which was pretty nice. Interior is very pretty! Easily the best spot at The Source! read more

Super solid Korean food, approved by my Korean friend. The food here was delicious. We ordered the spicy tteobokki, fried chicken, clam soup, ribs, marinated shrimp and salmon, green onion pancake, seafood army stew and a whole lot of soju. Highlights were the rose ttebokki and the army stew. Everything cooked really well. The restaurant was extremely busy and packed. Despite it being busy, the food came out quite fast. Came on a Saturday night after Disneyland. Our part of 6 waited less than 10 mins to get seated. The restaurant is quite loud and lively. Great spot to eat and drink with friends. Service could've been better. Asked our waiter for bowls and he forgot them, bringing them 10 mins later. read more

My friends & I came dined here between 9:30pm-11:30pm on Monday night. They had pretty cool halloween decorations all around and played good variety of music as always. Our group of 6 girls love coming here often because portions are big enough for family style dining and quality is great as well as good service. However, this time we had a bad experience because of our server. He was a very tall, possibly mixed asian but looks non-asian, I didn't get his name because no name tag. First, he basically slammed our waters on the table spilling a bit then kept rolling his eyes and gave us a tone when we were asking nicely for things. We asked for 4 things & as former servers we knew we weren't being needy at all like his other tables. Near the end when we asked for 1 big bowl to fit everyone bones/trash, he ignored my friends request & grabbed a tiny soup bowl from our table giving it to us acting like we're dumb to not use that until we explained 2 more times we needed a BIG BOWL. There were only 2 other tables when we arrived & maybe 3 others total when we left. Disappointing that out of the countless times I've dined here that this is the first time I had a bad experience which I tried to brush off but after 3 strikes it's done. I've been wanting to come to Misoolkwan for a few years since it opened but kept missing it, so finally got to try it on a Saturday night. I always see a wait here so I would definitely come earlier or be prepared to wait. I came around 6 and the wait was about 45 minutes, which is not too bad. Since this located in the Source, there's tons of things to do look at while you are waiting. The inside is super cool. Reminded me of an old school bar in Korea. The only thing is that it's so loud in here, it was hard to hear anyone. The food was average Korean bar food. I think my favorite was the stir fried pork. I would avoid the fried chicken, it was not good or crispy. The service also lacked a little because they were clearly understaffed for Saturday night. (Although they were super nice). I'm not sure if I would come back to this place just as dinner place. I think it would be better if you ate somewhere else and came here for a drink or two. read more

Love the food here! One of my favorite Korean spots Came around 5 on a Saturday and there was no wait. The restaurant was super dead! Around 6, it was definitely starting to get more busy. A little before 7, restaurant was packed! I love the vibe here! AND I LOVE THE WATER The barley tea water was absolutely delicious. We all joked that we would all be so much more hydrated if our water always tasted like this My group of 4 ended up ordering: Tasty Cheesy Popping Corn Pancake, Stir-Fried Pork Belly and Kimchi, Rose Tteok-bokki, and bone-in Kkanpung Chicken. Way too much food! But I was happy to have leftovers Our favorite was absolutely the corn pancake! I know it's just corn and cheese, but because the cheese gets crispy, IT IS HEAVEN IN YOUR MOUTH (but a lactose intolerants nightmare so bring your lactaid haha). The pork belly dish was delicious but I really wished it came with lettuce to wrap everything up and I also wish they removed the seeds or deveined the jalapeños because it was way too spicy! It ended up overpowering the whole dish. The rose Tteok-bokki was very tasty and creamy. Ended up being a little fishy cuz it was heavy on the fish cakes and I wish there was more noodle, but it was still yummy! The weakest dish was the kkanpung chicken. It wasn't bad!
