I don't think it's fair to advertise this place as a sushi restaurant. It's a Korean restaurant that just happens to make you sushi begrudgingly. I ordered dolsot bibimbop and a Maki roll. Somehow my piping hot bibimbop beat the roll to the table, though the bibimbop was disappointing. My favorite thing about bibimbop is the crispy, toasted sesame oil & rice crust that forms on the bottom. No crispiness on mine. I suspect it's because I asked for my egg to be raw, though why not just let the bibimbop cook properly & crack the egg right before the dish is delivered to the table? I'm not planning a return visit. read more

Miso is 1st and foremost a Korean place. It has had to add other asian dishes to keep up clientele, as a pure Korean place in Round Rock is unlike to attract enough guests. The decor is nice, modern, well lit, comfortable, if small. I have eaten here about 12 times now, and the Korean food is always good, fresh and well made. My only complaint there is that they have significantly reduced the spicy from authentic Korean, to appeal to the American palate. It took a while before they realized when I said "make it like a korean would eat" I was serious. The portion sizes are good, much more than one would typically see in a korean restaurant. The drink selection is good. The Sushi is good, a solid offering, nothing to write home about, but not disappointing. I have not eaten any of the other asian style dishes, as Americanized asian food is not appealing to me. I would venture they are solid dishes as others seemed to enjoy them. The wait staff is typical Korean, so might be a bit offputting to many in TX, as they are not 'in your face friendly'. They have to get to know you before showing emotion, but that is a cultural thing. But they are not rude and they are efficient, and want to do right by the customer. The pricing is just about right, maybe a tad high for the area. Overall a solid Korean place. I just wish they would give a larger range of Banchan with korean orders. read more

My appetizer came after my entree, and one of our entrees came 15 minutes before the other entree dish. My husband was craving Korean food last night really bad. A friend had mentioned to me that a new Korean-Japanese restaurant had opened in Round Rock not too long ago but I kept forgetting to check it out. My husband found this place on Yelp and couldn't believe how good the reviews were. I knew this had to be the place my friend was talking about. We went for a really late lunch/early dinner a little after 4 so it was pretty dead which was expected and perfectly fine by us. They had K-pop music playing and we soon began to feel right at home. We've been dying for a good Korean restaurant close to home. Could this be the place????? We started looking at the menu and were both very pleasantly surprised by their menu items. There were so many different things we wanted to order and it was making us both really, really hungry. So we decided to be total pigs and order 3 dishes. Hey man, don't judge! We ordered the ojinguh bokkum (spicy squid) which is my husband's favorite korean dish, the dooboo kimchi (tofu, kimchi with pork) which is my favorite korean dish, and galbi (korean short ribs). All 3 dishes were surprisingly pretty good. So good that we cleaned up on all 3 dishes! I don't think we've ever eaten like that before where we completely finish not just two, but THREE dishes by ourselves. We even ate all the banchan (side dishes)! I didn't eat any of the spicy squid because I'm not much of a squid person but my husband was pretty happy with it. The more he ate it, the more enjoyed it. The dooboo kimchi was different than others I've had. They deep fry the tofu squares and put the pork, kimch and lots of green onion and some other mixed greens on top. The presentation was actually very nice. I'm used to the tofu, kimchi and pork sitting in more sauce but this was still very good. The galbi was cooked perfectly, meaning slightly charred on the edges and around the bone. The flavor wasn't the best I've had but it was still very good, and because it was cooked so perfectly, I hardly noticed that I was missing a little something in the flavor. I'm sure we're a lot more picky since we're Korean and we've eaten some amazing Korean food in Los Angeles over the past 30+ years, but this place is pretty LEGIT and we will be coming here very often. We found this place a couple weeks ago. Tried their take out first. It was very good but a little difficult to get the full experience. So today we are in. The waiter was so attentive and service was great. He even remembered us from our take our! We tried 3 additional dishes. Beef bulgogi and Kimchi stew, the Nakasaki Jampong and the Yakisoba! All where delicious and huge servings. They came with multiple delicious sides. My husband a U.S. marine spent several years stationed in Korea and Japan and said the food here was delicious he would definately be back! We are not Korean but we just got back from 3 weeks vacation in Seoul and I'm really dying for some Korean food fix. Since we live in Pflugerville and don't feel like to venture to Austin, we decided to try any Korean restaurant nearby. I picked Miso, our first time here and I think this place is a keeper. We ordered Kimchi fried rice, jjampong and chicken katsu for the kiddos. They were all so yummy and it was so close to what we had in Seoul. Bigger portion here of course which is a plus! Well, I can't yet speak to the Japanese items on the menu, but the Korean items are top notch. Portions are ample but not excessive. My friend and I, who are both of generous appetites, ordered a bunch of different plates between us -- miso mussels, beef bulgogi, galbi, and kimchi bacon fried rice. We were able to finish it all, but it kind of hurt. Moral of the story: don't be afraid to order an extra dish if you want to try other things. The miso mussels were pretty good. We had quite a few unopened mussels, but that happens. Honestly, if we'd stuck to slightly more subtle Japanese fair, they'd probably have been more memorable, but the Korean dishes are so full-flavor that they kind of got lost in the shuffle. The bulgogi and galbi were great -- not too sweet, as some places do. Just incredibly flavorful. But oh man, the kimchi bacon fried rice. First, the kimchi. Theirs has a very clean, bright flavor without a lot of the funkiness you sometimes get. Usually, I prefer a little funk, but mixed into a dish like this, the cleaner flavor works much better. And while I was initially inclined to write the bacon off as a shameless case of "throw bacon at it, everybody loves bacon", it's really not a throw-away at all, but an integral part of the dish. The smokiness of the bacon and the pungency of the kimchi work really well together. I want to swim in this stuff like Scrooge McDuck in a pile of coins. Absolutely amazing. read more

My wife and I have been living in Waco TX since 2013 and we have not found ANY good sushi places around. We are mostly stuck in Waco--which is a culinary cesspit, by the way. SO..we made a special trip to Round Rock/Austin area specifically for good sushi. We planned a whole day around our high and hopeful expectations of this place. We are happy to say that Miso is EXCELLENT! Our food was so delicious. We got 2 sushi rolls, one of which we asked to be special made (we wanted a philly roll but instead of smoked salmon, we asked for the fish to be substituted with spicy tuna and they had no problem accommodating this request). They were both so delicious. I got the sweet and spicy chicken strips and my wife got the hot stone rice and egg bowl. We both love Korean food and both these dishes were made perfectly. I would highly recommend Miso to anyone who appreciates great sushi. AND the price was very reasonable. I have no problem paying a bit more for great food. Thanks, Miso. You made our day and now we have a go-to sushi place that is only an hour away! read more

Don't believe the negative reviews. I've been here two separate times and it was fantastic. Service is fast and friendly. We had the Shrimp and vegetable tempura for an appetizer and this was the best tempura I've ever had--seriously! My husband has as thing about deep fried food and must absolutely have it hot in order to eat it all and they delivered it hot and crispy. The sushi is top notch-- both the nigiri and rolls. Try the sexy lazy roll. Today I had the bimbibap and wow was it delicious. Mom had the Hawaiian chicken and raved about it. I have no complaints and this will be in the rotation for our Sunday night dinners with Mom. read more

I went here yesterday to take a look around and see if they had any to go menus. It looks a lot nicer than it did when Rosie's was there. The younger man there was very nice and helpful when explaining one of the dishes to me and the different sauces. I ended up getting the pork katsu I think (creamy sauce) and a Philly roll (little more expensive than it is at some places, I think $9?). Anyways when I got home and tried the food it tasted really good! Very happy with it. I hope to go again soon and maybe actually sit in since the atmosphere is so nice. :) read more

We stood up because we were certainly not going to eat there after the roach was literally on our table, and as we were getting up the waitress asked if we were going to pay for drinks. I have the opportunity to stay in Round Rock a couple of times per year. When I am here, I have a very limited time for lunch. I eat here every day that I can. Been to this little gem last month but keep forgetting to review it on yelp. The night we went they only had one server, but he did a great job and everything went very smoothly. Foods were great! Haven't had such tasty spicy pork for a while. Even my wife, who doesn't really like Korean foods, took over half of my pork! I ended up finishing her bibimbap. My kid had the tonkashu and it was very crispy and he liked it. He wolfed down everything in less than 10 minutes, which was a big surprise! The restaurant ambiance was nice and we felt very comfortable. *They ran out of Sprite that evening, so kid wasn't happy first. My mother and I tried this restaurant recently and were very impressed. The food was fresh hot and super tasty. I'm not an expert on Korean food, but everything was really delicious. My 3 year old son came along and had the shrimp tempura and loved it - super crunchy. My mom and I both had lunch platters - I had the beef bulgogi and she had the chicken bulgogi. Sooooo YUMMM! Went to lunch with co workers. Several of us are vegetarians. We made it clear up front. But the waitress kept on forgetting about it and would talk about meat dishes to us. We had to ask several times for a cup for lemondade. Several times we had to remind them to get us forks and extra napkins. Reminded them several times to get us specific sauces. Went there a few days ago and had one of the worse restaurant experiences that I have ever had. It was over an hour before we got anything to eat and it was our entree rather than our appetizers. The entree, the ribs, was cold, chewy, and difficult to eat with chopsticks. A lot of little dishes were brought with the entree but no explanation as to what they were and all were cold. We are 1/2 way thru the entree and all of our pre-entree dishes started pouring out to our very small table. Our dessert ended up being shrimp tempura which was cold!!! Our sushi had no dipping sauce. No apology. No acknowledgement. No break offered on the mixed up meal! Too bad! read more

My spouse and I came here with high expectations, and boy, we weren't let down in the slightest! It's a very relaxing atmosphere and all the servers were very quick to help, and friendly! We ordered a couple of beers and shared a shrimp tempura appetizer which was served piping hot and very flavorful! I had the chicken and pork Dolsot Bibimbab and my spouse had the chicken Bulgogi. Both dishes were served to us in a fair amount of time and so so delicious! And they gave us juicy watermelon slices at the end of our meal. What a treat! Fresh ingredients and prepared wonderfully, the servings are large and we left extremely satisfied. This place is definitely worth the visit if you enjoy korean food, and I'm excited to go back and try what's on their sushi menu! Very fair prices and great service that we received on a friday night. I'm recommending Miso to all my friends in town and taking my family when they come to visit... back for lunch today and was very happy with the appetizers we ordered but had mixed feelings about my entree. we had the spicy salmon roll and the kinmari. both were very tasty and we enjoyed them a lot. I'm usually not a dipper, but somehow the kinmari needed to be dipped in it's sauce and it made a big difference. I would definitely order that again. my entree was Hawaiian chicken and the taste was kinda off. I was confused as to how it should taste cause if I remember correctly, it said curry in the description but I tasted none of that. plus, the chicken somehow tasted undercooked even though it wasn't. I loved the rice which came with it because it was rolled into 2 balls like mochi, and I loved the taste and the stickiness. I left feeling so full and I didn't even finish my chicken! yeah, I'll be back, but I'll never order the Hawaiian chicken again. read more

Came here for team lunch. The poor server had the entire floor so he couldn't be as attentive. The chicken bulgogi was just ok - I wish I would have had the teriyaki instead - it's hard not to mess up chicken teriyaki :) . In any case all the food was just average- the salad dressing was pretty bland as well as all the sides. The chicken was not that flavorful. As Korean, I would say that this place has authentic Korean foods. Very clean, simple, and delicious! I also loved their modern look interiors. But, as other ppl mentioned, it is way under-staffed.
