I had the escalor civiche which was great texture and pretty good flavor but not sure I would order it again. 3.5/5 The tuna tower and fried jalapeños were delightful, loved the wontons served w/ the tower. - 5/5 the happy hour isn't really much of a discount for most food items, I think I saved around 2-4$s. seating avaliable at the sushi bar, booths , and 3 private rooms that can serve as a private event area for up to - 25? I would give this place a 3.5. I've been here twice and had very different experiences food-wise, partly my fault since I didn't order sushi either times. - Spicy Pork Bulgogi Bento (4/5) - I mainly liked how this came with miso soup, salad, California roll and gyoza. Worth the price in my opinion - Korean Ramen (1/5) - highly recommend to NOT order this unless you want to pay $15 for instant ramen. I was completely baffled when my order came out and I saw that the dish was instant noodles with half an egg. It even came with the ingredients you get in the little pack for instant ramen. If it looks and tastes like instant ramen, it's instant ramen. Totally not worth $15. If I ever return, I'll either get their bento boxes or try their sushi instead. They do get a bonus point from me for accommodating us even though we came in just before their afternoon break. read more

I am my own worst enemy! Selfishly not wanting anyone to know how amazing this place is, but still giving it 5 stars despite knowing its popularity is gonna explode! Stopped by and the stars (5 of them) aligned as the happy hour banner greeted me as I passed the threshold into this den of sushi indulgence. I had to honor every cut of fish behind the glass at the bar... like a mausoleum of displayed gifts from the sea. I sat across from the head sushi chef... I watched as his blade passionately penetrated the succulent flesh like watching a sushi porno. I had the happy hour combo of Sushi Roll + Nigiri. Spicy Salmon and Chefs succulent offerings of nigiri. I absolutely had to know their name before I put them in my mouth. My amazing waitress Alyssa, took the time of not only telling me but writing it down for me so I could accurately share my experience. Nigiri consisted of: Chu Toro (medium fatty tuna), Su-zuki (Stripe Bass), Madai (fatty red snapper), Amberjack (yellowtail), Hamachi (yellowtail), Sake Toro (fatty salmon)!!!!! I cant wordsmith how this sushi literally melted in my mouth. It was arranged in a way that there was a progression of succulence as I moved on... served to be eaten in order of the chefs tale of the sea. I understood how everyone treated the head chef with austere reverence. He humbly executed his life's craft. This place would have gotten a perfect score if they had followed simple instructions. I requested very light rice, which they were happy to accommodate. They said it was no problem. I took a chance and chose to be surprised by what fish I got and ordered the Chef's choice roll, again with very light rice. I guess he didn't like me or how I looked because for $19.00, the roll only had shrimp on top with a sliver of another white fish and the chef FILLED it with rice. In all my years of eating sushi, I've never seen one where they fill the roll with rice. Did they run out of crab?? I definitely feel gyped and dishonored. read more

Everything was spot on! First off the atmosphere is welcoming and more high energy which is great. Some sushi spots can be sleepy, this one is not with dance music and fun things to see on the t.v., sports and K- Pop. We noticed there are some private dining boxed rooms for rent which is a great option to have. I'm not sure if we ordered the most perfect things on the menu but we were dancing in our seats with delight. Always eating with our eyes first, the presentation was beautifully put together. Kudos to the chefs! Dragon Roll- melt in your mouth delicous, rice was cooked well, yum! Ahi Tuna Roll- very good meld of flavors and the bright colored eggs on top was a fun touch. Sexy Roll- absolute perfection! I liked that this one had no rice. It was carefully wrapped in cucumber. The one bite holds so much flavor and finishes with a lingering ginger. The location is what likely will keep us coming back without having to drive too far, but there are certainly places in Round Rock that we like better. Doesn't mean you should not try and form opinions for yourself, however, as it's a good neighborhood restaurant. The latest time we went, we ordered Hamachi crudo (good), Spider roll (soft-shelf crab was on the smaller side), a few nigiri pieces (okay), and tempura udon (noodles themselves were good, so was the tempura pieces), broth was okay and included random vegetables. I stopped here once several years ago and decided to stop by today. I ordered a lobster roll (not cheap mind you) looking at all the ingredients listed were on the menu, and just in case I even asked if avocados were on there and she said no. No other mention of any other ingredients not listed on the menu. In fact, I'm not sure the last time I ever ordered a sushi roll that they were mushrooms as an option. I cannot eat mushrooms they make me sick. I started to eat the roll thinking it was part of the Unagi, nope; mushrooms. When I mentioned to Alyssa, she said oh they have always had mushrooms. I don't know why it's not listed on the menu. Having said that & since I didn't eat half of this roll ( the taste of mushrooms are just ick!) they didn't offer any accommodation. I waited until it was completely finished and paid my check before I made this review. I seriously thought they would at least give me a partial discount, but no, very disappointing Of course the staff was very sweet, but the end issue is making the experience good for the customer, which did not happen. Moral of this story; make sure you ask for all the ingredients, just in case they're putting things on your dish, not listed on the menu for that dish. as a restaurant business, honestly just make sure you list all the ingredients, simple. Who loves sushi? I do! This has quickly become one of my favorite places for sushi. They also offer Korean Bento boxes. My brother-in-law and nephew usually join me for lunch here. Their prices are pretty reasonable, considering that sushi is not cheap. Overall, the facility is nicely set up, with even some private party rooms available. Their menu is expansive, offering all kinds of sushi. On my many visits here, I've chosen the Korean Spicy Pork Bento box. It was plentiful and delicious! My nephew's and brother-in-law's sushi looked very tempting. I kind of regretted not getting sushi myself. This is definitely a sushi place worth visiting. read more

Finding our way back to this spot in Hutto. Best service and conveniences. tonight, got the best service ever from the staff. Seems like everyone is out shopping for Christmas or on their way out during Christmas break. We had three waitresses serving us with smiles. It was such a great atmosphere. Even gave us a little something extra for dessert. I thoroughly enjoy the attentiveness and etiquette as well as the chef recognizing what my wife orders every time we step in here. We showed up on Friday at 2:10pm not realizing that would be scheduled to close at 2:30pm. The owner/sushi chef were gracious enough to allow us to dine in. That was already such a positive experience for us although we felt bad because the employees were waiting for 2:30pm to go on their break until they reopen at 4pm. Our server was very polite and attentive and reassured us not to worry about showing up late. The ramen was 10/10, perfectly balanced flavors and the pork belly was seasoned well. Beef bulgogi 10/10 had a nice balance of slightly sweet and savory just as bulgogi should taste. I loved that the chef was accommodating and when I mentioned I didn't want mayonnaise in my California roll they modified it and gave me leg meat instead. Food came out fast and we were out of there by 2:35pm! This is my new favorite Korean food restaurant. We'll be dining back for sure! read more

I ordered food for delivery and was excited to try this place out! We ordered the: seafood udon, spicy tuna roll, fire cracker roll, spicy pork bulgogi and tiramisu. First, I was not expecting to see ice cream on the tiramisu. Since it was a delivery order I assumed it would just be the cake, but either the frozen mochi melted or there was ice cream on it. The tiramisu tasted amazing despite the mess. The spicy tuna roll and firecracker rolls were decent. Not bad for a sushi spot in Hutto. Now to the entree....seafood udon. If you have ever had Jjambbong (Chinese-style Korean spicy seafood noodles) before order this!!! This was so good that I came back again (this time in person) to order more. It is pricy at $22, but good. Definitely worth it. The server was so nice and they packed our food to go with cardboard on the bottom since the hot liquid is separated from the noodles. Perfect so it won't get soggy. This is a busy place on a Friday night and I can see why. read more

I've been to plenty of ramen restaurants and my experiences have all been consistent. Umami bone flavored rich broth with bouncy chewy noodles. Add in the flakey meat from chicken to chashu, that's why we get ramen because it teleports us to Japan. Trying the Tonkotsu ramen from Sushi Zoa, is like teleporting to Chucky cheese, it's the worst ramen I have ever tried in my entire life. I'm always looking at value vs taste vs experience and this dish is not worth $18. It's worth more like $9. I feel ripped off, I feel taken advantage of, and to be honest I've had instant ramen that looks and taste almost the same from a bag. I do like the noodles, the noodles are great, bouncy, chewy, and plenty of it so the noodles have texture. The ramen broth was decent just didn't have enough flavor, it had some but not that umami consistent ramen taste I've experienced and expect. Look at the egg, you telling me I get half an egg and it's not runny? Look at the slices of pork, is this a kids meal? Really?! $18!? I took pictures of the dish at home it's the 2nd picture I posted that comes as is. Now slide to picture 3, I made my own runny egg at home, who's is better? Because the dish didn't have enough protein, I added my own shrimp and more chopped green onions. I also added my own corn just to pretend I had value added to the dish. The 4th picture I posted is a tonkotsu ramen dish from a restaurant I went too during this year and it was less than $18. I did order the rainbow roll, wow, that is an amazing dish. The rice was amazing, great sushi rice with the right amount of vinegar. The avocado, shrimp, sashimi, and the way it was presented, now that is worth $16. Pros: - The rolls were fresh and the ingredient proportions were correct. - the service was great (we did take out) - my family enjoyed its food Cons -it was quite overpriced for this level of sushi restaurant. For example, the lunch Chirashi bowl was $40 and it wasn't huge or anything. They may need to reevaluate their pricing compared to others in the area. - the portion of the lunch bento was small. The spicy pork bulgogi was very tasty but even after eating it, I was still hungry. - there was no dressing on my salad. Just a pile of lettuce with a lemon slice on top. We paid $115 for lunch menu food. I had a bento box, hubs, the Chirashi bowl, one sushi + nigiri combo, and finally a kid ate. California roll and a salmon roll. We hit up their lunch specials twice since they opened, and are a big fan of their Sushi Combos. Specifically, their Sushi Combo B with their Rainbow Roll. The fish are delicious and tastes like they were prepared with quality. The sized of the fish and the roll was very good as well, and didn't finish the meal still feeling hungry. It's pricey for sure, but their Combo B gives you better and more fish than at other places. We've waited FOREVER to have a decent Japanese restaurant that didn't require 30 minutes to get to. Sushi Zoa has filled that and it's legit. It's a somewhat authentic Japanese restaurant (lived in Japan for 6 years) and it's got some nice fusion options. Literally everything we have tried is good. We are now "regulars" which is nice. It's always busy and has been from day one. They've worked out opening week bugs and are running pretty smoothly. The food: The miso soup is among the best I've had. A nice mix of nori and tofu. Each and every roll I've tried is quite good. My favorite is still the deep fried Golden Cali roll. It's boring sure but it's really good. Especially mixed with the fresh wasabi. Every bite of nigiri has been perfect. The size of the fish is now perfect. In some restaurants they can make the fish too thick or long. It makes me gag...literally. Here is close to what I experienced in Japan; a palm sized rice bed with matching fish or eggs. The eel is AMAZING!! Unagi is hard to do right and they do it right. Actually crispy yet tinder. The tamago is amazing. Please add inari. Please. The main courses are outstanding. The Katsu is legit. The waygu hot rock is amazing as well...small, but it's quality over quantity. Oddly the cucumber salad is my favorite. Such a simple thing but it's so refreshing. Next I plan to sample their ramen as I'm a ramen purist and I plan to pass judgement next visit. I've read that the egg is lacking as I expect a nice 8 minute marinaded egg rather than a soft poached egg. We will see. I noticed this new sushi place just up the road from me! It is a bright and clean restaurant that doesn't have the slightest smell of fish, something I look for in a sushi place! They were friendly and acknowledged us right away. We came in at the end of the lunch rush, but they acted like it was no problem. They have an open, airy dining area, but what is cool is they have three rooms that close off if you want a more intimate setting, such an excellent idea!! You can watch them make your rolls at the counter, and I love the wine selection hanging on the wall! They have various choices on the menu, from sushi to Ramen. We ordered sushi, rice, and Ramen and only had one issue, and that was with the crawfish roll. The rolls are a great size, nothing like the dinky ones down the street, and they are fresh!!! Hutto has needed a good place for sushi and they have one now in Sushi Zoa. We stopped in for lunch recently during their soft opening and had a great time there. The sushi bar has plentiful seating and there are several private dining rooms available off to the side of the main seating area. The menu has typical Japanese and Korean options but we opted for the sushi combination and the sashimi combination. Each comes with miso soup and a choice of roll. The soup was really good and tasted like it was homemade, full of flavor and not salty at all. The fish used was very fresh which is a must of course. The portions were a bit small relative to the price although there is a 20% discount off your bill during the soft opening. The service was attentive and friendly. One thing that was a bit strange was the front door being propped open. Hopefully once they get through the opening that will change- it's just a bit off putting with the neighboring gas station and highway. Ambiance: What ambiance? Meal: The presentation was beautiful. I'll go through each thing we ordered though as maybe it is different for other items. Miso Soup - Tasted of dirty tap water Gyoza - Specifically we got the Pork Gyoza as there are three options. The outside was lightly crispy and perfect color but then BAM you take a bite and it was a weird "soggy" is the best word for it. Like it was just mush. Sexy Roll - I actually LOVED this roll, seriously. No rice, cucumber wrapped with tons of fish. The wonderful hidden kicker is the ginger and then the eggs to make sure you get a bit on each bite. Lion King Roll - This was.... ummmm.....interesting. Sounded really good/interesting on the menu but epic fail. Zero flavor and the "cheese" was just like an odd texture with no flavor. It wasn't crunchy cheese, not melted cheese, it was like burned plastic. Overall: I think this place has A TON of potential. Placed a to go order for a Friday night and was so happy we tried this place out! Service was fast and easy pick up. Cannot attest to the ambiance from a dine in experience but had ample seating and a bar options to sit at as well. We ordered a spicy Korean ramen, 2 sushi rolls, and the sake mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was really delicious! I would personally have preferred a tad more sauce but overall flavor was great and reheated well the next day! I could taste the rice. That is good. There was a hint of crab flavor. Not sure real tuna or crab was even used. I believe all of it was imitation seafood. Tastes watered down as well. . The best part of this order was the fried won ton chips. I'm so disappointed to have wasted my time & money . This was so terrible, I had enough after a few bites. I will have to say, the sushi here was phenomenal! Not just on flavors but on freshness and presentation. The combination of flavors each roll has was on another level and reminded me of ones back on the Cali coast. I'd say the best was the No name roll for me. It had fresh arugula and thinly sliced jalapeños on top, enhancing the tuna. The service was excellent. Our waiter was on it, despite the place being packed, he always came by checking on us and never kept us waiting too long for service. The ambience is your typical sushi place, nice and cozy.
