Any opportunity to visit the St Regis is a good day, and Miru is the icing on the cake. I love the Wild Mushroom Sizzling Rice, shishito peppers, and avocado crispy rice. The cocktails were delicious too. It's a beautiful restaurant and our waiter Justin was a great. Highly recommend and will go back sooner than later.

The three of us celebrated our daughter's birthday at Miru, the modern Japanese restaurant on the 11th floor of the St. Regis Chicago, which has a charming terrace overlooking the Chicago River, Navy Pier, and Lake Michigan. It was the views that attracted us to this venue. It turned out to be a perfect evening with beautiful weather for dining al fresco. Since it was a Monday evening, the large modern dining room was not too busy. As expected, the outdoor terrace was bustling. The terrace is basically divided into 3 sections. We were seated in the first section closest to Navy Pier and Lake Michigan, and this area filled up fast shortly after 6:00 pm. Service was friendly and professional throughout the evening. Our server Justin was very knowledgeable of the menu. Both the hostess and Justin wished our daughter a happy birthday several times. A birthday dessert with a lit candle on the side was presented to her at the end of the dinner, making it a special meal to her. Our daughter ordered a cocktail called Happy Days ($23) that came in a Japanese cat shaped jar/glass. My husband had a glass of Chablis ($21), and I had a mocktail Setting Sun ($14), which has fresh yuzu, Valencia orange, lychee, Soda. However, I could only taste the soda, I wished I could taste the lychee. For dinner, we ordered the following to share: Kani Kani Crispy Rice ($34) -- Justin recommended this dish. I really enjoyed the crispy rice and the minced crab meat topping, which was flavorful and not too spicy. However, my husband did not feel that was a crab flavor. Tempura Rock Shrimp ($19) -- a nice quantity for sharing, shrimp was fresh, but nothing too special. Crispy Spring Rolls ($28) -- 6 very small spring rolls were filled with Maine lobster, pork, with Thai orange sauce. They were delicious but we couldn't really distinguish the lobster or pork in the minced filling. (For the nigiri and sashimi, each order came with 2 pieces. Everything we tried was fresh.) Unagi +1 piece ($14 + $7) -- BBQ Fresh Water Eel Seared Salmon Belly Nigiri +1 piece ($23 + $11.50) Kinmedai ($18) -- Golden Snapper Chutoro ($21) -- Medium Fatty Tuna A5 Wagyu Nigiri ($49) - This was a surprise disappointment. All 4 pieces of Wagyu were tough and had gristle in them, so chewy that we had to spit them out. It's definitely not the melt-in-your-mouth A5 Wagyu experience that I was looking for. Duck Yakisoba ($28) - This dish was mixed on our table by a server, that added more fun to a dish that had egg noodles, duck confit, and ginger. It was flavorful with a good amount of duck. Black Cod ($44) - It was nicely seared and prepared. However, my first bite had a very slight fishy smell in it. Otherwise, it was a good dish. Black Sesame Mochi ($18) -- Charcoal-Vanilla ice cream, black sesame praline, and mochi sponge. Surprisingly, this was the highlight of the night! The flavors and all the different textures worked very well together. I could easily eat a couple of these myself! I am still craving for the aromatic crispy black sesame praline and creamy charcoal-vanilla ice cream a week later! With a 3.5% restaurant surcharge, our total bill came to $431.80 before tip. Valet parking was originally $50, but with restaurant validation, it was brought down to $35. All in all, we had a wonderful birthday dinner for our daughter. The stunning views and ambiance with excellent service made it a memorable evening, while the food was very good overall, there were a couple of disappointments. For us, Miru is a 4-star experience overall, with 5-star ambiance and service.

Miru is fine dining restaurant situated in St.Regis in Chicago. We got a chance to try it during our stay at St.Regis for breakfast and for Christmas Dinner. I would say I loved their breakfast more than dinner probably coz I am vegetarian and they don't have many vegetarian options. But the food is very very good

I have to caveat my review with the fact that I don't easy seafood, but all the other dishes that I had were amazing! We booked the patio on a Saturday night with the fireworks so that was an incredible experience, but I loved all the food! I'll definitely be coming back!

Quick take: elevated dining experience Service, ambiance, presentation, and flavors were all 5 stars. Great view of downtown. Highlight recommend this restaurant if you have the time to sit and enjoy a great dinner. We had 2 birthday girls and they both received a dessert.

Finally returned here 3 years later for lunch so updating my review! Views are excellent obviously and so is the service. Favorite dishes were the sizzling mushroom rice, shishito peppers, and rainbow roll, but loved everything! Great spot for upscale sushi.

It's all about the views! Miru is one of the newer sushi restaurants relatively uncompetitive sushi scene in Chicago, and it hits the spots for those interested in classy ambience and jaw dropping views. The sushi is phenomenal, as were our drinks... but the other entrees are disappointing. The karaage and duck yakisoba in particular in quality could be from any corner restaurant in Chicago. The service lends itself more casual, and I noticed they were consistently quite slow to clear our table. I don't think people come here for the food as much as the views. Overlooking Streeterville from this angle and vantage was truly jaw dropping and for this reason I still strongly recommend Miru.

Amazing food and drinks. The view is to die for and the staff is so nice. Recommend getting the pork fried rice as it's so delicious

Had an awesome time at Miru. We had a private room for my friend's birthday and Matthew S. took care of us. He was very helpful with the menu, timely, and had a great personality which made for a fun experience. There were 7 of us and we have the 36 piece sushi of the Chefs selection, we ordered the mushroom fried rice, shrimp fried rice, hamachi and lemon, and octopus... one thing was better than the next. It was more than enough food. We all had about 2 drinks as well and we all were pleasantly surprised by the bill. Super fresh and tasty seafood. We will all definitely be back!

We really liked the location and the views. We were lucky to get a table overlooking Navy Pier, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The fish was exceptionally fresh, the sushi rolls were delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and celebrated a very enjoyable birthday here. Just don't expect a large, filling meal - this is more of a place to meet with friends, enjoy good conversation, and have a light bite.

Nikki S.

Ive been here more times than I can count and its easily one of my favorite sushi spots in the city I was just there last Friday with a friend and once again everything was perfect from the attentive seamless service to how beautifully each dish was presented Every bite was delicious I also love the modern design of the restaurant and the incredible views of Chicago it really adds to the whole experience The space has an intimate relaxed vibe that keeps me coming back Definitely one of those places I will be visiting again very soon

Christy K.

Miru has a gorgeous view. It is located at the top of the The St. Regis Chicago, and the scenery alone makes it worth visiting. It is a great spot for tourists, especially if you are staying at the hotel. We walked in around 4pm on a Tuesday and had no wait at all. It was pretty empty at that time. The sunset views are stunning and it is such a beautiful place to take photos. That was definitely the highlight. As for the food, the sushi was just okay. The fish cuts were on the smaller side and the ingredients did not taste particularly high quality, so it felt a bit underwhelming. Service was fine. Nothing amazing, but not bad either. Overall, I would come back for the view and vibes, but not necessarily for the sushi itself.

The food was very unique and delicious. The service was on point but the best part were the views. If you can snag a table outside do it.

I think there's not a table in NoMi that doesn't have an amazing view. The main, large window faces the lake (East). Arriving just at 7, you get the full affect of the city, and lake, and then the sunset and lights of the buildings. It was absolutely magical. I couldn't get enough of it. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and clean, but honestly it could have been a pit and I wouldn't have noticed. You'll be focused on the views for the entire evening. The food!!! Everything is very fresh. It's all well-prepared. Everything was delicious. There's a good variety of dishes to choose from. Plenty of healthy, low-carb options. We each ordered our own appetizers. I had the crispy Maitake mushrooms and my husband had the mussels. We both loved our food and left nothing on our plates. Excellent choices, that we highly recommend. As our main course we shared the sushi platter. The seafood was fresh and the sushi didn't have too much rice. It was the perfect amount of food with our appetizers. Selecting a wine was dicey, as earlier that week flooding had damaged the cellar (!), but our server, Alex, was very helpful and worked with us to find something to my liking. We landed on a 2015 Cornas which was showing beautifully and matched perfectly with our meal. Alex did a fantastic job taking care of us during the wine reconnaissance and throughout the meal. Speaking of which, we started with the deviled eggs, which were amazing. An elegant balance of cream and salt from the caviar. For my entree, i had the venison. It was a seared filet on I believe a sweet potato puree, and it was rich and tender. Order it rare, if its on the menu. Kelly had the filet, also rare, and found it to be superior to most Chicago steak house filets. Our side was the divinely creamy Aligot mashed potatoes. Don't skip on these! For dessert, there was a decadent, gout-tempting chocolate mousse preparation. Served tableside, its all you think you can eat. I had a heaping serving, ate some, took the rest home. The double smashed patties were juicy and flavorful. I devoured the burger and loved the thin cut fries. All-in-all, we had a lovely dinner at Ila's for my sister's bachelorette party.
