My older son picked me up around 11:30 AM and drove me home, as I wasn't allowed to drive afterward. I rested for the remainder of the day. What really stood out to me was the level of care that Dr. Bak personally called me later that afternoon to check on how I was doing and answered all my questions. He was incredibly patient and supportive. Anna was also amazing and went above and beyond in communicating with me throughout the entire process. I really cannot say enough great things about Doctor Li and his team…read more I visited Doctor Li recently as a new patient in order to get a routine teeth cleaning. I wasn't expecting much, but Doctor Li discovered three cavities, two of which required quite extensive dental work. Doctor Li proceeded to take the necessary x-rays while walking me through his intended plan to repair these cavities. His experience and expertise in this field truly showed as he guided me through the procedures with excellent bedside manner to ease any of my concerns, questions, and worries. A couple days later, I came in to get my first ever filling done. My dental history involves a healthy amount of trauma ranging from extreme pain DURING wisdom teeth extraction as well as other instances of numbing agents not really doing their jobs. However, not only did I feel little to no pain during the filling, I left with a lot of my trauma alleviated. Doctor Li and his dental assistants did a great job calming me down and helping me stay relaxed and at ease throughout all of the dental work. I can say for certain that I am definitely coming back to Doctor Li for any further dental work and will gladly refer any and all of my friends who are looking for a dentist. Additional elements that I really appreciated about their business was their quick correspondence with my insurance as well as the abundance of parking. I already breathed a sigh of relief at my July visit when my pockets were measured for the first time again. Initially, they were 5-9mm in a lot of places pre treatment. In July, all pockets had reduced to 4-5mm. Yesterday, all pockets measured at 4mm or below! I am so relieved and happy that the procedure was so successful already and well worth it. Dr. Penhaskashi's expert care, the regular cleanings and me staying on top of my oral hygiene led to fantastic results. I could have cried at the news! I came to Dr. Penhaskashi after a terrible experience with another periodontist that comes once a month to my dentist's office. I'm not sure if that is part of the reason, but that periodontist saw me for all of five minutes, simply said it doesn't look great, said a tooth needs to be extracted, gave me a two minute video to watch about grafts, then told me I'd get a cost estimate and just left. Zero explanation as to what he would want to do and I just sat in my car afterwards crying feeling helpless and terrified. That's when my search for a new periodontist started. Likely similar to you, I read so many reviews and decided to give this office a call. From the first contact with Celeste I knew I made the right decision. She was so empathic and reassuring that I actually looked forward to my appointment and to meeting her. On the day of my first appointment everyone I encountered was just so kind and wonderful. Special shout out to Margaret, the treatment coordinator, who managed to calm me down as I was in tears when I shared my previous experience with her. During this first visit x-rays were taken and Dr. Penhaskash explained what treatment he would suggest immediately and other things that should need to be tackled down the road. He has a very calm, caring nature and also a much appreciated sense of humor. He takes his time and educates his patients on the state of their oral health and possible reasons for it without ever shaming them or making them feel guilty or embarrassed, which is an experience I had previously. He even gave me kudos for seeking out a new periodontist as many are too scared and anxious after a bad experience and delay treatment until it might be too late to save their teeth. If you're being suggested to LANAP, don't hesitate. It might sound a little scary and invasive, but it really isn't. I had minimal pain after the initial numbing. I chose "laughing gas" for my first visit, but won't for the second as I don't find it's necessary now that I know what to expect. The worst part is the initial injections for numbing and that's over quickly. And while everyone's recovery is different, I woke up with zero pain the next morning just 12 hours post surgery. Oh, the tooth the other periodontist wanted to extract right away will stay for now. In Dr. Penhaskashi's words "let's give it a chance." The other Dr. did not have LANAP training and therefore less options available. If you're anxious like me but know that you need help regarding your oral health, don't hesitate to visit Dr. P for a consultation. You will be in good hands!
