This review is long overdue. Dr. Lizana has been my dentist for a few years and I truly wouldn't trust anyone else. Most recently, she extracted my teeth with zero pain, which really shows how highly skilled and gentle she is. She's soft-spoken, patient, and always makes sure I'm comfortable throughout every procedure, checking in along the way. On top of that, the entire staff is amazing. Everyone is kind and attentive, from the front desk to the dental assistants. You feel welcomed and cared for the moment you walk in. My wife is the patient at Smile Design Studio, and I accompanied her to an orthodontic appointment that was extremely disappointing. She was scheduled to have her rubber bands changed and a fallen bracket replaced and was excited to get blue rubber bands. While driving home, I noticed her rubber bands were still the same color, which seemed odd. When I asked, she told me nothing had been done during the appointment. We called the office and were told that because they failed to order the replacement bracket, they chose not to do anything, claiming it would affect tooth movement. This explanation didn't make sense--leaving old rubber bands in place without the bracket already affects treatment. Other orthodontic offices told us a broken bracket should be addressed within 48 hours, yet this office was willing to wait almost two months. The orthodontist is only available one day per month, so common issues cause long delays. On top of that, the manager, Ruben, was rude and condescending when we asked reasonable questions. I regret choosing this office--we only did so because they were handing out flyers while I was at Sonus in the same plaza, not because of the quality of care. In emergencies, the orthodontist's other office is in Bakersfield, which is not practical. I do NOT recommend Smile Design Studio. read more

First and foremost, Smile Design Studio deserves to have gotten this review many years ago because people outside my family and friends should have known about this place much sooner. I recommend this clinic 100%. They have taken care of my dental needs since before the COVID pandemic in 2018, and I have always been happy with my dental results. I get my cleaning done once or twice a year, and I've found confidence in my smiles after I got my braces. I always ask for their advice from cleanings to fillings to crowns to implants to braces and to wisdom teeth extractions. They are honest and offer different options that can match my insurance and finances. Shoutout to the team for taking care of me and now my toddler as well. My second baby will be going to the same clinic as well when she's 2. I am grateful to Ruben and now Miriam for being the longest standing team associates. I am thankful for all of the thoughtful reminders and calls whenever we have appts coming up. For all the follow ups and check ins whenever I or family have procedures. This has been my dental office for years now, and they have never let me down. Right from the beginning of friendly front desk staff, to assistants, to the doctors themselves. The quality of care, and expertise is what brings me back. Along with the amazing and friendly staff, that makes my experience much less nerve wracking. Ruben is so amazing, a true gem. He always makes me feel at ease, especially since he's the one breaking down the un-fun stuff (insurance coverage, costs etc.) He explains it so well & thoroughly. Then my experience with all the assistants- super friendly & great at their skill. For example Evelyn and Sonia and Dr. Lizana helped me with my temporary crown today, and I swear they made this fit way better than the permanent crown I had in. A literal perfect fit. Funny enough, the ones with five stars never even answered their phones -- but this office with 4.5 stars absolutely deserves a full five! Their staff is incredibly helpful, welcoming, knowledgeable, kind, and patient. The office has such a cute atmosphere (especially for Halloween!). The dentist herself is amazing, professional, caring, and genuinely loving with her patients. You can tell her staff truly enjoys working with her, which says a lot. I usually have a hard time feeling comfortable at a dentist office or I will try to avoid it or put it off, but I genuinely don't feel that way here. I really do appreciate the transparency Ruben provides, you don't ever feel like they are just money hungry. I honestly can say they really come from a place of trying to help you and do what's right for you. Ruben is so great at communicating everything they are doing and WHY are they recommend what they recommend. It feels so warm and welcoming every single time I come in for a visit, even after I moved away from the valley and came back - they didn't miss a beat. Said I had cavities but I didn't lol. Went to another dentist and they said my teeth were great. They did x-rays here and stuff and said I had bone loss. My other dentist said my teeth were fine and on their x-rays they didn't show any bone loss at all. So I dont recommend. Staff is nice but the dentist is pretty bad. Their work is great, but they are definitely in the sales industry before the dental industry. They will make everything seem mandatory and urgent so you have to pay. Then when it comes to dealing with anything through insurance they will try to get you to go elsewhere so that they don't have to deal with the insurance if it's an HMO or anything similar. They are great at what they do but it's definitely not as family friendly as they make it seem. If you can pay cash that's great and you'll have no issues, but besides that they are very pushy. read more

The office is very clean and welcoming. It's easy to make appointments and follow-ups. I've had other practices where they didn't remember to schedule a follow up, but no problems here. I first went as a walk-in because I had a very painful tooth infection. I was in so much pain that I had a hard time following along with the treatment plan the doctor was prescribing, but Ruben was very patient and understanding and he took the time to carefully explain everything to me. I brought my 3 year old in last week for a cleaning and check up. The doctor was very delicate with her and friendly for her to feel comfortable. My daughter had a great first experience at this location so I recommend it for little ones too.
