Wow, the lamb shawarma was BOMB!!! The bread on top was crispy and chewy at the same time, with a hint of sesame flavor. The rice and lamb were seasoned to perfection. The sauces on the side added a nice touch, as well. Definitely will be back to get this dish!! Falafel was ok, it's not a must. The service was good, but a bit slow the day I went. Very cozy vibes inside, great for date night! read more

Miriam exceeded my expectations! This cozy, no-frills Israeli restaurant has delicious food and drinks and is the perfect spot for dinner before a concert at Barclays Center. To drink, the Passion Spritz was absolutely delicious and refreshing, we also enjoyed the spirited Mocha, which gave us some caffeine to get through the night. To eat, I suggest getting some small plates to share to try it all: -Dip Plate: favorite item on here was the labneh. I wish they had a bigger variety of dips and the option to mix and match-would have loved if we could have gotten some hummus instead of tahini. -Falafel: delicious and I've never had a falafel served on pita chips before! -Roasted Squash: delicious! -Vegan Stuffed Pepper: I loved this and the hearty, slightly sweet tomato sauce it was cooked in. -Brussels Sprouts: these were my favorite item of the evening and were cooked/sauced perfectly. I'm craving them already! Of course we had to get dessert-the Cast Iron Date Cake was our favorite, and the Kanafe was decent. Overall, a very simple and tasty dinner. Service was good as well, albeit a bit slow likely due to the pick up in the crowd as the evening progressed. read more

Came with a friend for Sunday lunch without a reservation. Waited about 15 minutes before getting seated. Good spot for Mediterranean food! Enjoyed their fluffy pita! The gabne was like an elevated mediterranean grilled cheese sandwich w avocado, tomatoes, cucumber and cheese (like halloumi) in a pita! Felt like a good balanced lunch. read more

Very solid brunch spot on the weekends when you want to avoid something that will make you feel gross afterwards. I liked how this place seemed relatively easy to get into despite being a nice day on a weekend (as anyone who lives in the neighborhood can attest, weekend brunch during prime hours without a reservation sometimes can be madness). The food is delicious, specifically their different versions of shakshuka. Pita comes out warm, fluffy, and soft. Probably some of the best falafel I've tasted of late as well. Service is friendly and attentive, kid-friendly as well. We ordered a carafe of the sangria which seemed reasonably priced. The reviews don't lie - this is a great option in the neighborhood if you're craving Mediterranean food. read more

Great ambience! It's really cozy & I was welcomed with a tart red cocktail. (I forgot name!) the breads are warm and fresh, and all the dishes had layers of flavors with fresh herbs. Fantastic experience - one of the best meals I've ever eaten. My brother-in-law said this is his favorite restaurant in all of New York. We could not stop raving about how good everything was as we were eating and as we walked home. Everything tasted extremely fresh and well prepared. Our party of 5 got there for the end of happy hour and everyone got drinks. The best was the Lil' Cuke - cucumber and mint puree with lillit apertif - we kept passing that around. The dipping plate had some amazing tzaziki with complex and refreshing flavors, babaganouj, tahini, and a mashed squash dish. We cleaned everything out with the zaatar bread and with other dishes throughout the meal. The falafel plate was also ridiculously fresh and delicious. My other favorites were the branzino and chicken shawarma. Others really liked the lamb shawarma and brussel sprouts. Not one thing we ordered was less than great. Presentation was on point. Price was unbeatable - ~$40 per person including drinks. We will definitely return next time we're in New York! read more

Wonderful spot in Brooklyn by the Barclay's Center. Good place to get something to eat before a sports or even there. Wonderful Israeli food and meze and the standout was the roasted cauliflower and roasted brussel sprouts along with the lamb swarma cooked in a clay bowl with bread overlain. Wondeful strong flavors. Spicey if you like that. Great service and ambiance. Good for a date night as well. Will be back. read more

There arent any real glaring issues with Miriam. Its a good 3.5 stars. They have a nice selection of wines and cocktails and a nice variety of offerings. I enjoyed my visit there but as I reminisced my meal I couldnt help but think That the $30 lamb shawrma I had wasnt much better than the $8-$10 lamb shawrma I could get from a halal stand. It wasnt bad it just wasnt very remarkable. Same goes for the blintz which were excellently prepared but lacking in flavor and portioned like hors d'oeuvres With that said they have lots of outdoor seating and are a real hit for brunch. My partner enjoyed her chicken schnitzel quite a bit so perhaps I just drew the short straw and ordered the wrong items read more

Came here because I was CRAVING Mediterranean food. I ordered the hummus and pomegranate meatballs. (Originally I was going to get the dipping plate but totally thought this came with hummus! I misread! Whoops) I was a bit surprised by the portion sizes, not that I needed huge portions but these were definitely smaller than I expected. Even the size of the meatballs were very small. The hummus was definitely more of a rougher/chunkier/course texture. I think I was in the mood for something smoother so this didn't quite suit my palette at the time but was still very fresh and good. But just a heads up. The labneh combined with the pomegranate flavor was very yummy and refreshing. However, because the meatballs were on the smaller side, I found them quite tough and dry which bummed me out because I wish they had been able to soak up that yummy pomegranate flavor better. The pita was warm and yummy. Service was standard. I like the overall atmosphere of this restaurant and it would be a nice place to grab dinner with a friend. I'd be open to coming back and trying some of their other menu items but it's not top of list for me. 3.5/5 read more

Number one son," oh there's a great Israeli brunch spot just a couple of blocks from your hotel" as we whipped jet lagged eyeballs having got in at 2 am. And number two son who took the red eye got in at 9 am. Bright and exited #1 whose birthday was this day, was excited for us to explore his hood. 12 blocks later and hangry... we are seated and order. Mine was so delicious! Which I substituted the pita for a Jerusalem bagel to dip into my shakshuka. Very fresh hummus as a side! It was a humid day so sitting indie the well lite and cute decor was a pleasure. read more

Went for brunch ate outside. Not their fault just the way it is now but with the waiter using iPad ordering that goes on there's unfortunately no service no niceties or welcome just what can I get you and face in the iPad. The food honestly came so fast and was cold. Had Israeli breakfast. Very boring. Cold eggs :(. Had shawarma chicken honestly it was unappealing how much chicken was on the plate. The use of Israeli salad on every dish is boring and doesn't add to the dish. It needs hummus or tzatziki-something more than labneh. The pita was cold. The waiter should have inquired as to why it was all still on the table when we were done. I'm not sure he cared :(. Such is the industry these days. On to the next Table. Price for shawarma pricey! Lessen the price and the serving. Make it more appealing. Outside tables need work. Some plants or music it's very dirty out there. Lots of servers and hosts around but had to ask for refill and napkins and a roll up read more

I was born and raised in Park slope and I love coming back to eat at restaurants on fifth Avenue. Miriam was a place I heard that I had to try their brunch. I'm usually not a fan of Middle Eastern brunch but Miriam's was different. I had the Jerusalem breakfast, The eggs were made perfectly and the Turkish Simmit tasted so good, especially when topped with butter, eggs and guacamole. My mom enjoyed her green shashuka with pita bread. And the guy they gave us extra pita without hesitation haha. Wait times can get a bit crazy for brunch. There was only three parties ahead of my party of three and it still took about 30 to 40 minutes. So if you plan on going, make sure you have patience. But I would say it's worth the wait. read more

Had a great meal at Miriam while visiting NY. The ambiance sets the stage for a great meal. The décor was a blend of modern and traditional elements that created a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for both intimate dinners and more casual dining. I wont comment too much on the drinks but overall they were tasty as well. I got the Mediterranean Salad, a dish, which was as fresh and flavorful as I was hooping. The Dipping Plate was a triumphant showcase of texture and taste. The tahini was creamy and nutty, the matbucha, offered a subtle heat (could have used a bit more), and the labne was refreshingly tangy. Do yourself a favor and get an extra piece of pita. I would have liked to see hummus added on, but we can't get everything in life. The Mediterranean Sashimi, a creative twist on a classic, was an exquisite blend of the sea's bounty with Mediterranean zest. The fish was impeccably fresh, sliced to perfection, and enhanced with just the right touch of olive oil and herbs. This was probably tied with the shawarma as my favorite part of the meal. The Lamb Shawarma Terracotta was something I wasn't ready for. The lamb was tender and super well spiced. A hearty portion made sure I didn't leave hungry. Overall, I think the meal was super satisfying. The price is not for the faint of heart but if you're looking to treat yourself, I don't think you'll regret coming to Miriam. read more

This place was so delicious! I never tried Israeli food but was pleasantly surprised by all the dishes here. They felt healthy but still flavorful and delicious! Did get a little tricked by the waiter when he asked if we wanted some bread for the dipping sauces while we were mid eating, thinking it would be on the house but it was later charged to us ): But I will say that was smooth... The dishes may seem a little pricey, but the portion sizes of each dish is pretty big. My friends and I shared a main course and couple Meze's, and we left really full with couple bites left. Lovely Israeli spot in a neighborhood I don't normally venture to in search of food. I had the burekas plate, which came with two delicate, yet perfectly dense, pieces of the namesake pastry. Overall rating: 4.7 I know this is a brunch spot, but when I went I was indifferent. When my friend suggested we go for dinner, I was a bit hesitant but wanted to try another meal here. To be transparent, when I went.. I was extremely hungover so I wasn't even expecting amazing food. However I really liked the food I ordered! It was small portions and felt healthy. I had the Kadaif Wrapped Shrimp & the roasted cauliflower. Omg it was so good! I definitely want to come back now & eat it again. My friend had the Chicken Schnitzel, but the chicken was a little dry. The space is a little tight, but I think I'd come again if I was in the area. Our party of four was in the mood for Mediterranean cuisine and close to Park Slope. We drove to the area and were fortunate to get a parking spot on a side street near the restaurant. We were initially seated outside under a heat lamp in a partial enclosure. The outside seating here is nicely done. However, it was a cold and blustery day, so we opted for a spot inside. We ordered: · Eggs Benedict 18: Canadian bacon & poached eggs, English muffin & hollandaise sauce · Chicken Shawarma 24: Sautéed spinach & roasted tomato over flat bread & side of tahini yogurt, amba and red onion sumac sauce · Soup of the Day 12 · Green Shakshuka 18 · Potato Pancake Side 8 The Eggs Benedict and Chicken Shawarma were both very good, with tasty sauces for the chicken and a nicely executed hollandaise sauce on the benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The Green Shakshuka received fair reviews and the Potato Pancake was very mediocre. We liked the vibe here, and the service was very good. A 3.5-star visit, rounded up to four stars. We would certainly return. read more

We stumbled on this place due to the rain and being hangry. Ohhhhhhh this is a gem. We ordered the lamb shawarma and the Harissa chicken tinga. We also paired it with the Prosecco x3 First off the lamb was so tasteful and plenty. The chick peas with basmati rice and turmeric reminded me of home and the pita bread to allow you to eat with your hands and dive in. I couldn't even finish because it was so much. The garnish was paired well and blended nicely The harissa was seasoned mildly seasoned and tickled anyones palette that desires tenderness and flavorful. To be honest. My husband rarely cleans his plate when we venture out, but he really enjoyed this dish. The dish was paired with pickled radish which he doesn't like but finished We will return again with friends. The atmosphere was warming and traditional. Love it and will be added to our playback adventures. read more

There's always a long line here, but my friend and I came right when they opened and that's the sweet spot. Everything we had was delicious, and the service was great...except for an odd thing that happened. We started off with Anthony and then in the middle of the meal another server was helping us, and he never introduced himself or said what happened to Anthony. When we tried to make conversation/quip with the new waiter, he was unbothered and uninterested. Not impolite, but just fine. Either way, the croissant rocked, the bacon was delicious and extra crispy (as asked), and you should absolutely get the hot sauce. A nice touch with the croissant is that the scrambled eggs were more of an omelet so the eggs didn't fall off the sandwich when you took a bite. They also have decent sized portions which I can always get behind. read more

Absolutely delicious. First of all, their outdoor dining is insanely cute. They really stepped it up with the color coordination and floral decor. Their space feels super cozy and intimate! I ordered the red shakshuka which was amazing, but the real show-stopper was the pita and hummus. I don't know how they managed to do it, but their pita bread was so incredibly soft and fresh. I've never had pita bread so perfect. The hummus was also a delight. The texture and consistency was incredible, and it was bursting with flavor. I would not hesitate to just order pita and hummus as my entire meal. The red shakshuka was delicious as well! It was hearty and light, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. I can't wait to come back to try more of their menu (and consume more of their pita and hummus)! read more

I'm finally caught up with all my reviews from last year. So many to write dang. I can feel the carpal tunnel creeping up on me. Miriam looked like an interested place to eat. It's always crowded during brunch and has a line out the door. Dinner is calmer and no line out the door, but you still need a reservation. Or at least one is recommended. I came here with my husband, brother-in-law (BIL), and his friend from college, CC. My BIL had always wanted to try Miriam but was never able to go. He was ecstatic to have finally eaten here. We got there before 6pm as a walk-in. I was afraid we wouldn't be able to be seated, but luckily it wasn't too busy so we were able to sit down. If you go between 4-6pm it's happy hour. So when we sat down it was around 5:40pm. And I think they were short staffed because a waitress didn't get to us until 5:50pm. I was worried about not getting those happy hour priced drinks, but she came just in the knick of time. We started off the meal with the housemade zatar bread, which is pita bread topped with the zatar spices. It's always amazing not matter where. Except for CC, we all got the chicken shawarma for our main dishes. CC got the sea bass shawarma. He was in the mood for fish. The chicken shawarma was pretty decent. It was a large portion so I took half of it home. I was pretty surprised my BIL got the chicken shawarma, since he always gets salads in these types of places. But he didn't finish all of the chicken and he didn't want to take it home which was a bit irritating. There was good chicken leftover and he just threw it away. Do you realize how many starving people there are in this world? Anyways, I digress. The food was good, but I don't think it was worth the $27 it cost for the chicken shawarma. But that's the only downside. I would definitely return if we have guest over. read more

I was expecting to fall in love with this place, but sadly was extremely underwhelmed. I've had a number of people recommend this place and was excited to finally reserve a table for my husband, friend, and I. The ambience and the service was lovely, but the food okay at best. The hummus and pita were solid, but neither of us liked our mains and we sadly ended up sending back three half even plates. The salads were bland and the meat drenched in what tasted like barbecue sauce. The menu also wasn't very vegetarian-friendly (only one main and a couple of sides and salads). Not a favorite for me, sadly. read more

Came here for lunch and there was basically no waiting. There is sidewalk dining and indoor dining as well. I went for the Bureka and my friend ordered something with a sharma chicken dish. I also got the White Sangria (although i ordered the Rose). Food was good, the eggs could have used more jazzing up but the meal was not greasy and it left me satiated so that was good. My dish came with this bread like thing which I assume is the Bureka. It was interesting because at first the texture of the inside made me think "Wait...is this thing fully baked?" I wasn't really sure what to expect. I had imagined differently I guess. I liked the tomato salad that came with the dish. I prob would give 4 star. I deducted a star but the poor table service. I arrived waiting for a friend and despite this no one staff came to for about 20-25mins as i sat. No water...no menu..no inquiries that maybe I want to order something while I waited. I shouldn't say "no staff" but in particular the woman who sat me and ended up being the waitress for the table was the one who went MIA. Another staffer noticed me sitting there and he came over to apologize and he attended to me even though he did mention that he wasn't my assigned server but he felt bad that I had been sitting here for so long. When my friend show up, the lady R came back to serve the table AS IF I hadn't been sitting there all this time. Very weird chick. read more
