I recently visited Mio Modo in St. Charles. It was molto bene. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was romantic and cozy. The decor was tasteful and added to the overall charm of the restaurant. Now on to the food - it was divine. I started with the calamari and a glass of prosecco. For my entree, I ordered the creste de gallo alla vodka. It was a delicious pasta with vodka sauce, crumbled sausage, and fresh mozzarella. The ingredients tasted fresh, and it was one of the best pasta dishes I have had since visiting Italy. This is a great spot to take a date or celebrate an occasion. Went here with family for Sunday lunch. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. They have plenty…read moreof outdoor seating. Because we were a big group we were in the back area. It was fine except that there weren't other diners there until we were halfway thru so our server wasn't easy to get hold of. Inside has a couple of big TVs playing football so it's like an Italian pub meets sports bar feel. We shared a Chicken Parmigiana and Caesar Salad. Others in our group ordered the Blackened Salmon Risotto, the bacon-wrapped dates and the meatball sliders. Everything tasted pretty good. The Ceasar Salad was smaller than expected as we were hoping to share a couple of orders, and it had cherry tomatoes and shredded lettuce but was good nonetheless. The vodka pasta that came with the Chicken Parmigiana was a standout- the pasta had a good bite and the sauce was excellent. The salmon risotto was also outstanding. The bacon-wrapped dates was unexpectedly stuffed with sausage, so it was very tasty. We didn't have room for dessert as we were stuffed. We didn't have pizza this time but had it previously and it was good too.
