I needed the insert for my wedding invitations printed, and had been recommended to Minuteman by a friend. I thought it'd be better to take them to a professional shop, rather than try it myself. Wrong. It started off fine and Catherine, who helped me, was very nice. She even was willing to squeeze them in as a rush, which I appreciated. She said she'd run a test to ensure their printer could use my stock, which was a metallic stock. A few hours later, I got the call that they were ready and I was delighted - I thanked her for her extra help. I picked them up and it was only $27, which was great. Then I got home and looked through them and the print was very faint and looked like the printer had run out of ink - like it didn't quite apply through the middle of each letter. It's plain black ink, nothing fancy, no color matching, nada. And these are my wedding invites, so yes, I actually care that they look good, better than "acceptable". I ended up having to reprint them on my home printer (a basic HP ink jet) and they look a million times better. I thought that I could talk to Minuteman in the morning and let them know what happened - how I couldn't use any of the ones they did because they were of such poor quality and that I'd like a refund. Upon explaining the situation to Mark and nicely requesting a refund, I was told "there's nothing we can do" multiple times, since I provided the file and colors and fonts can look different on home printers vs. pro machines (sorry, but running out of ink is running out of ink, regardless of machine size). I was told that I didn't get a proof (which wasn't mentioned as an option) and that's to be expected by this type of card stock which isn't really made for printers. I should basically be grateful that I received a rush order for no extra charge. After printing, they looked through them and thought they looked "OK" and "acceptable" - so apparently between the print shop and my home, they transformed. Yes, it's only $27, but more the principle of the matter - I was really upset by the job, but more upset after speaking to them and they didn't offer to do anything to make it right. I've never felt the need to write a negative review on Yelp, hate that this is my first. Not really any place I'd ever give my business to again. read more

If I could rate Minuteman Press 10 stars, I would! We needed an order of 4,000 one-page brochures for the largest HR trade show, and Steven at Minuteman Press said he'd be able to do it within HOURS. This was amazing because the original printing company that screwed up our order (PsPrint) refused to help us get the order done. Steven was extremely helpful!!!! My daughter and I came to this Minuteman to view their selection of wedding invitations and to get an idea of what the process consisted of. Much to my surprise my daughter fell in love with several designs that MinuteMan had already set up.the young lady that worked with us was terrific in handling our order and holding our hands through the process.I was expecting to pay an arm and a leg for personalized wedding invitations, but again much to my surprise the prices were very reasonable and when put together with the service we received I would have paid a lot more. I conversed over email for a couple weeks before the deadline and was feeling good. I had conveyed what I had wanted for the cover stock and page (lb and feel) and Catherine had confirmed that they could do it. It was more expensive than the other places that I'd had previous experience with but the reviews and my willingness to pay more for a great job made me go with them. I needed my booklet to turn out perfect and was willing to pay for it! So, I go in and tell the person that I had this all arranged and the person disappears behind the wall (without a word). 10 minutes later, nothing. 15. Nothing. I call for someone and get nothing... I got very confused and debated just leaving since I was on my lunch break. Almost half an hour later the person comes back and flops down a booklet. EVERYTHING about it was wrong. The paper/cover was super wimpy feeling and flipping through it made my stomach turn. Blobs of yellow ink were smeared over some of the pages and every image had a strong sepia tone like it was printed from someone's Instagram. It was also strong in the blacks but that was understandable because of the paper. I had a test printed from another DC print shop (vectors didn't print out crisply from that place but overall what I was aiming for) to compare and it was shocking how badly the one from Minuteman printed out. The person confirmed that the print was really bad and went into the back with my inDesign file (commence waiting with no updates) and printed out a couple more on paper more like what I was looking for to begin with. The prints came out better than before but still had a yellow tinge to them that made them unusable to me. I decided that I needed to go somewhere else to get it printed properly. The manager came out and wasn't very diplomatic and charged me WAY MORE than the agreed on price in the email. I worked for a print shop during my college years and I would have been embarrassed to let something like that leave the shop but he was very unapologetic. With all my printing experience, I've never had something printed out that terribly - having print shop experience, I understand that colors don't print out exactly like on the screen and color profiles can be wonky thus the need for test prints. Luckily, I had built in some extra time before the deadline and ended up going to a place that a friend had recommended but had a lower rating on Yelp. They were phenomenal!! My booklets turned out wayyyyy better than expected!!!! So, moral of this review, go to ABC Imaging if you need something printed out properly, OH, and it was way less expensive. read more

We have a last minute printing project that needed to be done extremely short notice. Having work previously with Minuteman in DC and having a first good impression with their services we reached out to Steve for a quote on this job. This time with not such good results. Without properly reviewing the proof sent to him, he replied quickly sending us the same quote for the previous job with only a change on the date, not even the name of the project was right. When I pointed this out a new quote this time the price changed. Because our previous experience we went ahead, authorized a payment and trusted the final product would speaks for itself. We were disappointing when we received the product and felt this time we were ripped off. I don't blame Minuteman entirely because as a customer when you are in a rush you don't check on all the details, but remember you are charge for what you are quote. So don't think that because you have a good first experience its going to be the same the next time around. read more

To be fair - I wish half stars were an option for ratings, as I would give 3.5 stars. I contacted Minuteman Press at about 4:45 PM on a Thursday about a very large project I needed printed and bound for the next morning. They were accommodating, friendly and told me the project would be finished by the next morning. The next morning when I went to pick up the order, I was greeted by kind staff and one young man even helped me carry my very heavy order to my Uber. However, once I had arrived to drop off these documents I realized that they were printed and bound in the incorrect order. I had to go all the way back to give back the incorrect order, for the new printing job to even begin. I was very frustrated that this job was printed incorrectly despite being 1 large PDF to print and bind (a simple collation could have helped to avoid this issue). This caused me to drop of the project hours later than originally desired. With that being said - the staff at Minuteman was still as friendly as can be when I returned to pick up my new project, and made sure that the job was printed and bound correctly on the second try. read more

I needed some 4-8 page last minute booklets done for an event I am hosting. I emailed on Monday and got a response from Francesca a couple of hours later. I let her know that my event was Saturday so I needed the booklets done quickly. She assured me that they would complete them in time. I wasn't sure of how to word my order so I just told her what I was looking for and she quoted me accordingly. She even offered to do the art work for me to expedite the process, but luckily I am experienced in graphic design, so I was able to design everything myself and send it over. The next day, she had proofs printed and delivered directly to my location. She even provided options that she thought looked better for me to take a look at! She was spot on with her suggestions and I ended up going with her option. It is now Friday and I received my booklets hand delivered to me and they are perfect! All in all, Francesca was prompt, went above and beyond to meet my needs, and exceeded my expectations. I am a very happy camper and will be returning to Minuteman Press DC for all of my printing needs! read more

Minuteman Press is fantastic to work with! I have used them several times, and they are always extremely prompt and professional. One day, I asked if they would be able to make a sign for one of the galleries in the museum where I work, and they created exactly what I described within an hour! Francesca was additionally a HUGE help when it came to printing a brochure for our space. We weren't happy with the initial design we made, so she gave us lots of great suggestions, provided us with useful documents about the bleed and page alignments, and even sent me back to the museum with samples of other brochures to consider. She was nice and patient throughout the entire process, and we now have a brochure we are very, very happy with! Not to mention, once we settled on the design, they had the brochures printed and delivered within a day! Just amazing service, terrific product, and excellent prices!
