The Richardson office excels in some areas, but professionalism, customer support, accountability, and clear communication are not among them. During my last visit, the orthodontist misrepresented my concerns to the office manager, framing me unfairly as a disrespectful black man rather than addressing my legitimate questions about my treatment. It seems that unless a patient is overly enthusiastic about their service, their concerns are dismissed or things fall apart for her. I did not yell at this woman, I did not use any profanity, I did not use any slurs or colloquialisms. I never called this woman anything but doctor out of respect. When I questioned why newly identified gaps in my teeth were not originally addressed in my treatment plan, the orthodontist deflected responsibility rather than providing a clear answer. Instead of acknowledging an oversight or mention that this is part of the process, I was met with dismissive explanations, including claims about my prior dental condition, missed appointments, and alleged non-compliance with wearing my trays--all of which were inaccurate. * I have never "no-showed" an appointment, except once due to an ER visit. That one appointment would only account for 2025, and not years of service. * I have always notified the office in advance if I needed to reschedule.It is possible the office just listed me as a no-show. * Despite spending thousands of dollars, I still have noticeable gaps in my front teeth, which were never properly addressed. * I was charged an additional $1,500 for treatment that should have been completed under my original plan. It is unacceptable to expect a patient to be satisfied with unfinished treatment, especially when additional costs are imposed to correct issues that should have been resolved initially. Over the years, I have seen at least five different orthodontists at this location. One orthodontist was so unprofessional, loud, and condescending that I had to request she be removed from my case. When I raised my concerns with the office manager, Dr. C, the owner, became my primary orthodontist for a while--someone who at least introduced himself professionally and engaged respectfully. The new orthodontist, however, never introduced herself and spoke to me with indifference. When I asked about my treatment, she responded dismissively, saying, "So are we doing this or what?" That level of disregard for a paying patient is unacceptable. When I attempted to escalate my concerns to the owner, the front desk staff was dismissive, trying to have the discussion right there rather than facilitating proper resolution. I was then told, "The manager is busy, but I can give you, his number." * Is there a formal process for handling customer complaints? I've already had a complaint about a previous orthodontist and that didn't warrant a manager contacting me. My previous employer was the US Army. So, I am not sensitive, but you will not patronize me. You will speak to me with respect and the condescending manager in which the orthodontist spoke with me. * Does Mint Orthodontics prioritize patient concerns beyond five-star reviews? * Why am I being charged more for unfinished treatment with no clear explanation? Mint Orthodontics' reputation is built on advertising and positive reviews, but my experience does not align with that image. So, I guess they pushed me out the door and hide my problems. I have raised concerns about two orthodontists, and yet corporate has not contacted me for resolution. That is not professionalism. I expect transparency, accountability, and a response from someone at Mint Orthodontics who is willing to address these issues properly. read more

My first visit/consult, I waited an extremely long time to be seen (mind you taking off from work to be here.) However, after meeting Dr. Crosby and realizing he was great, I stayed. Apparently he left and there was no communication to the patients. I recently had an issue with my new retainer and reached out to the office (or so I thought). Got a call center who didn't even know what office I was trying to contact. Then to find out this office (Richardson) was closed for a week. Again, no notice to patients. I was passed around to multiple people, none of whom were communicating any details covered, requiring me to have to debrief each person. Yet every one wanted me to go into great detail about my issue... Why would they even ask me to give detailed info when they couldn't even be bothered to relay the basic info? Long story short, this office closes and does not designate any other offices to back them up. Also, I was told after my 3-4 transfer that doctors do not speak to patients. How is the United States of America are doctors given options to assist THEIR OWN PATIENTS UNDER CARE??? I left a message with the woman (who was condescending in her conversation with me, purposely not answering MY questions but rather whatever she wanted to say) for the current doctor to call when the office reopened given I am in pain. I never heard anything back. So as another patient wrote, I guess I would have to get in my car, waste gas, to roll up on the office to actually get any answers or help. Because I guess my payments do not cover actual help or additional questions. I gave it 2 stars because the office is clean and if you have no problems and/or low expectations for service and accountability, you will have a great experience. PS - my name, which really is not hard to pronounce, is written phonetically for those who are challenged. The new doctor butchered it still 3 times while I am literally looking at the phonetic spelling on the screen. Mind you I have one of the easiest last names on earth. I can't recommend Dr. Crosby to anyone. My Invisalign treatment was awful, took 4 years longer than it should have, and my complaint to the Texas Dental Board has been under official investigation since August 4, 2017. I paid $5,380 in 2011 for what was to be 1 year of Invisalign. I felt good about it - everyone at my high school had gone to him years ago. He even graduated in my dad's class at Pearce in 1974. Five years later in 2016, after pleading with Dr. Crosby and his office coordinator multiple times to get my treatment finished, I walked out and found another orthodontist to finish the job. I also spoke to 3 other orthodontists by phone that said it was absurd it would take 5 years. There were so many things that should have gone better that I can't even list them all here. 3 of the 5 years weren't even real Invisalign - they were simply homemade retainer trays that were thick and didn't work well. After a few years of that I convinced them to restart my Invisalign treatment. My concerns were never really addressed. I feel like I was never taken seriously. When they said they had to put me in regular braces to finish treatment, they didn't even show me how to properly take care of them. When I filed a complaint with the Dallas County Dental Society, the mediator (an orthodontist in Preston Hollow) received my initial X-rays and said that I was, "a slam dunk case for a year of Invisalign." I was offered over $1,000 in compensation after a peer review investigation by DCDS, which I refused because the agreement stated I couldn't leave this review telling other people about my experience. read more

My son had his braces done by Dr. Crosby a few years ago. His built in bottom retainer came lose and needed repair so naturally I call the place he had his braces and knowing Dr. Crosby is still a part of this business. My son went in today and said the loud uncensored rap music was a turn off then they tried to sell him Invisalign which he doesn't need and after he told them no, they told him they can't do the bottom retainer because his teeth have moved too much (it's been 9 days since his bottom retainer came lose'. He is 19 and told me they are sketchy. And wouldn't even remove the left over glue still inside his bottom teeth. We had a consult two years ago with Dr. Crosby, and he said to wait and come back in two years (my son didn't need braces just yet). A couple weeks ago, I called to make an appointment "with Dr. Crosby," and explained that we had seen him two years ago and were coming back. We show up for our appointment today, and the place looks completely different and is re-branded as "Mint Dentistry." I'm thinking, ok, that's fine - new, fresh look. My son gets x-rayed and photographed before the actual consult. When the orthodontist walks into the room, it's not Dr. Crosby (despite his name being all over the waiting room and HIS DIPLOMAS STILL HANGING ON THE WALLS OF THE ROOM WE ARE IN). I'm informed at that point that Dr. Crosby hasn't worked there in a year, and they are "rotating" orthodontists. The Dr. I spoke to said that he couldn't even guarantee he would be there for the duration of my son's orthodontic treatment. I expressed my dissatisfaction and left. I'm going to this dentist because my regular dentist referred me to him in order to get braces. Its a nice facility with a friendly staff.. When you arrive you are greeted by someone sitting next to the entrance. The whole setup is like that of a sports facility with anything football. If its your first time, they will take you into a small room where they go over the options. They take you back for X-rays... Once that is done you are back into the room where they go over prices for braces. I am doing the Invisalign... so it is costing more. But my insurance is covering a good chunk of it. In addition, I decided to go ahead with the procedure as they also give a discount. There are different payments plan available for those you cant afford it. Its fair. The dentist will also go over invisilign with you since that is his specialty. I only have two complains. The first is that when you are fitted for the braces, you are in a room where all the chairs for all patients are located in the same area facing a tv to imitate a sports environment. There really is no privacy , AT ALL... So anything and everything can be heard. In addition, parents will hand on a "bleacher" while their kids are being worked on... That means that they can see the progress of their kids, but they also get to hear in on what is happening to you... I know its just my teeth, but its kinda private like my health... Lastly, you can tell that they want to sell their services. and I can understand that they want to make a profit. read more

Dr. Crosby is definitely the go-to guy for Invisalign. He was very thorough during my consultation, and I had a clear understanding of the process. He is an elite preferred provider, and told me that he even teaches about invisalign at dental school. There are dentists who offer it, but is is better to go to an orthodontist. The office is very modern with an open layout. They have all of the latest technology for x-rays, and treatments. He also treats a fair number of adults for orthodontics. If this is something you are considering, I would definitely go in for a consultation. It is a little pricey, but so are boob jobs, and people get them all of the time. They have affordable payment plans, great staff, and we typically are seen as soon as we arrive. They take emergency appointments with ease and Dr. Crosby thoroughly explains everything. I took my daughter to Dr. Crosby per a recommendation from a family member who went to school with him. Everything started out great. My daughter started with her Invisalign treatment, and her teeth were looking good. At our last appointment with him, he advised that we should wait for my daughter's three remaining baby teeth to fall out before we moved forward. Months went by, her teeth fell out, and I did not hear anything from Dr. Crosby. When I called his office to inquire about our next steps in her treatment, I was informed that he marked her file as complete, and was no longer working at this particular location. When I called the Dallas location, the person on the phone had no idea where he was, what he is doing, or how to get in contact with him. Very strange and extremely disappointing to say the least. I came to Dr. Crosby lookin for a grill. I wanted somethin really dope, preferably platinum, with diamond inserts. Instead he suckered me into buying these clear trays, that straightened mah teef. At first i thought: "Clear, oh snap thats pretty fly!" But nobody even notices them. I mean whats the point in coverin yo teeth with something nobody can see? I've been coming here for a little over 2 years now and have nothing negative to say about Dr. Crosby. The office was recently upgraded and is located on Campbell about 2 mins from the old one. I like the layout of the office more now and it's a little more relaxing. Some people may not like that there is no "privacy" but I don't have a problem with it. I will say though, that I've never been to an office with an open layout like his. Dr. Crosby is very good at what he does and won't stop until he gets it right. That's a great quality to have for an orthodontist. I love my teeth so it's important to me that I go to someone who is passionate about results. So I had my braces removed 2/17/2023. I paid for both the Hawley and Essix retainers for convenience when at home and while at work. I've been wearing the Hawley during the day so I can drink my juice (Tumeric/Beet) without staining but have been experiencing extreme pain, more than what I initially experienced when my braces was intact. Called and spoke with office manager and was told to come in today 2/20/2023 to have the appliance adjusted. The dentist was unwilling to adjust my appliance and literally told me she didn't know what to tell me! Reluctantly, she loosened the top Hawley a tad and I do mean a tad! She told me I can save them to wear as a back up if I needed them as if that would change the degree of pain experienced. If they are hurting now I am sure they will hurt later and besides that, I paid $530 for these!!!! Make it make sense because at this point everything that is coming out of her mouth is just FLUFF!!! I was given my Hawley retainers back and told to continue to wear them until they loosen!!! My teeth are on fire and I can barely eat anything because of the pain!!! She appeared annoyed and as if I inconvenienced her by coming in for pain and wanting my appliance to fit comfortably without inflicting pain!!! I will not recommend this location to friends nor family! No one wants to feel as if their concern is invalid especially after paying thousands of dollars for a better smile! read more

I am an adult who got braces at 50 years old. My teeth were ok for the most part because I had braces in my 20's, but unfortunately, I had to remove them before the treatment was finished. I felt getting braces in my 50's wouldn't be a huge ordeal since a lot of the work had been done in my 20's. I had 3 main reasons for getting braces again. 1. To "finish what I had started" in my 20's. 2. To fix a tooth on the upper left side that was completely rotated. I had become very self conscious about this. 3. To close the gaps on my bottom teeth. I opted for clear braces and had them approx. 18 months. When the braces were removed, I was shocked! The rotation on the top tooth was complete but there was still a gap between it and the tooth in front. I asked the tech about it when my braces were removed and was told the retainer would close the gap. The gaps on the bottom teeth weren't closed either when the braces came off - the teeth had been tilted forward to look like the gaps were closed, but they weren't. I also had a gritty substance left on my teeth from the braces that the tech did not clean off. I had to ask my regular dentist buff my front teeth to remove the substance from them at least. As of today, 1 year and 3 months later, the grit remains on my teeth, even after regular cleanings from my dentist. Dr. Crosby is out of the office - ALOT and there is a lot of turnover with his techs. They are not allowed to handle emergency situations when is out of the office. I had a wire pop out of my bracket on a Friday. I called his office and no one could help until Dr Crosby was back in the office. This wire was poking the inside of my cheek and there was no way I could stay that way until the next week. I took a pair of pliers and cut the wire myself. I received an invisalign retainer, which I hate. Any time I talk, bubbles and spit come out of the retainer. Its awful. The retainer did not close the gaps, like the tech said it would. I made my 1 year follow up appointment when I picked up my retainer but I couldn't remember the exact date. I called Dr Crosby's office and they couldn't find my appointment anywhere! Lastly, I needed periodontal surgery as the root was showing on all the teeth on my upper right side, and the gum was very thin on my front bottom teeth. I had the surgery as several of my teeth were at risk of falling out due to recessed or very thin gums. My periodontist advised I should have NEVER had braces until the gum graph surgery was done. Shouldn't Dr. Crosby have seen this? I spent $5k for adult braces and, other than the tooth rotation being done, my teeth don't look any better. They actally look worse due to gaps. I've had an exceptionally bad experience, my teeth have not been fixed and I've been charged more than the agreement price. Dr. Crosby is like a money making machine who hops from one patient to another and the dental assistants do ALL the work, which is probably the reason that I've been having problems with treatment. I did not sign up and payed that huge amount to be treated by assistants with a 5 month training. I'm way too disappointed, please just go to any other dentist. I swear when I came in the first time, he sounded super nice and attentive and I signed up the same day, please don't get fooled by this. Really dissapointed in this place. I came here to get a consult for invisalign at the recommendation of urgency by the dentist I saw the day before. Dr Crosby said I was definitely a candidate and that Invisalign would make my smile look perfect. Well, I went to someone else for a second opinion and he said I need traditional bracket braces, and I am NOT an invisalign candidate. Sorry but if you recommend a treatment that is $5000+ that is not right for me I think that is 100% WRONG. I will not be returning and I do not recommend anyone to come here. Nightmare. I had braces there with great success. Brought my oldest son there and things went fine until his glued in retainer came out and then it was a constant fight to get one put back in and by the time they were available his teeth were shifted. I should have learned but went back because Dr. Crosby is the best right? Well his staff isn't. My middle son developed an open bite (and did not have one before braces). Dr. Crosby is going out of his way to help fix it when we can actually get in to see him. If you call with concerns or problems they will tell you they can see you in a month. Seriously? I paid $5000 to be put off a month. If you can actually get to Dr. Crosby he is great but good luck getting around the staff. They should be putting him into Invisalign for free and fixing this. My son has had his braces off for nearly 2 years and his teeth are crooked. At this point I have two sons with crooked teeth that had braces with Dr. Crosby and while I think he is a good orthodontist...the results just aren't there. I am taking him to another orthodontist to fix it (at another $5000). I am going to have to contact the board to see what can be done because I should not have to pay for this AGAIN. My daughter had the worst experience with Dr. Crosby. After full braces TWICE and around $10k, her bite is narrow and her teeth look awful. His office is sports oriented and the patients sit in a crowded ampitheatre where Crosby can go from patient to patient telling a tech what to do. In the back is a large TV so he can watch sports while he dictates quickly what to do to the tech. Obviously he is trying to make the most money, and in the end I saw someone else who had tiny teeth after their procedures, no extruding the teeth somehow they "intruded" ? I would recommend any other orthodontist. The last day of my braces 5 years ago, he literally pulled my tooth to make it "more" center after my braces were off. It was extremely painful and shouldn't have been needed if he was a good orthodontist. If you don't believe me ask your local Dentist. Almost every dentist, oral surgeon suggest anyone but him. I now have dentofacial asymmetry. When I first addressed concerns in Aug 16 I was told it was impossible. When it started to worsen as treatment progress he said "Well it's a dramatic change". Dramatic is okay, negative is not. After many consultations I was told treatment had to be reversed and that is no guarantee in correcting the damage that has been done. Now he tells me that invisalign doesn't track where your cheeks, nose, etc correlate with your teeth. Honestly I think Invisalign is great it's the treatment created that has caused such a nightmare. Research Sunken in Face due to Orthodontics...complete nightmare. I now have TMJ on the side that was collapsed the most. If you care about your face or your child's face look for a "functional orthodontist". I tried to be patient but I wouldn't want this to happen to anybody else. read more

Dr. Douglas Crosby totally messed up my teeth; he pulled my upper left first premolar unnecessarily. Now the gap is closed but my face is crooked from the front. My top midline is way off center now. My teeth look worse than before, my face looks terrible. read more
