I particularly loved how Alice (super knowledgeable, engaging, and relatable) showed me the photos of each of my teeth, kindly educating me on what happens when plaque turns to tartar, how it carries bacteria that causes the gums to recede, and can turn into long-term problems. I had never had this clear of an understanding of why we all "should" get a tooth cleaning every six months, particularly as it related to my own specific condition. Okay, so this review is based on one visit. If I need to update later, I will. I just had a…read morecleaning and exam, and I suppose the true test of a dentist is when real work comes around. I won't go into my dental phobia in this review...did that for the last one and I'm short on time. But dentists make me panic, faint, sick to my stomach, and more. It's a gut reaction based on years of dental work that was painful. But I've been lucky...my last dentist was really great and so is Dr. Fickey. In fact, I wandered around for a year (mostly as a stall tactic) asking people 1) if they were terrified of the dentist and if the answer was affirmative, 2) who they went to. In the end, Dr. Fickey was where the terrified people went and were happy. (Side note...surprising number of people aren't afraid of the dentist. Must be nice.) I can see why Dr. Fickey got rave reviews. He's really nice, very empathetic, and actually takes what you've said and applies it. You know that form you fill out? The looooong one? He read it and used the info when checking out my teeth. He didn't jab the metal hook all over and test to see if my teeth really are sensitive. I was as comfortable and at ease as possible, which is saying a lot for a first visit. Dr. Fickey's hygienist is also really quick. Both did well at telling you what they were going to do before they did it. (When you have sensitive teeth, it's nice to know that you might have a tooth twinge coming. Well, not nice, but you jump less in the seat.) I think I'll be good returning in 6 months.

Literally just had another filling fall out over the weekend. Extremely disappointed in the quality of work and professionalism. The entire time the dentist and assistant were providing service, they would gossip about others in the office. Extremely unprofessional.
