I have been to a lot of dental offices in my life due to extensive traveling...John McNeil and staff are definitely some of the best there is. I initially saw them to have an implant put in and also wanted a comprehensive exam to address some concerns I have had about some gaps and discoloring in my smile. Unlike many other dentists who do not usually let you get a word in edgewise, Dr. McNeil listened to what I was hoping to accomplish without interruption and gave me several options on how to proceed. After our discussion I felt extremely at ease and confident enough in Mint Dental's ability I decided to do a complete cosmetic upgrade. This is A LOT of work, top to bottom I have had every possible procedure done at this office, (from root canals, crowns, veneers, fillings, cleanings, deep cleanings, and implants) and let me tell you, the experience was comfortable, stress free, and worth it. Dental Technician (and the best) Tanya handled all of the details of my case and was available to answer any and all questions, (yes, even on the weekends via text to her personal phone) I feared the dentist office for most of my life, when you find the right one, WOW what a difference it makes! I would just like everyone to know how efficient & pleasant my experience has been at Mint Dental. Cameron at the front desk welcomes, remains unruffled & understands my abruptness that traffic was harried & I must use the facilities! Then Shawny, my calm & nurturing assistant, starts my dental song by insuring I'm comfortable with blanky & back pillow. Next my sweet & thorough hygienist, Sara, does my numbing injections. She's kind & patient, not too hurried, so the pain is minimal. The set is all ready for the lead musician, Dr. McNeil, who has come in an hour early to accommodate my schedule needs. He's very caring & shakes my hand, without a glove on it - every time he greets me! He gently, confidently & systematically does his work. Together, they worked in perfect harmony with steady rhythm & smooth actions. I nearly fall asleep under the soothing sound of the white noise suction-thing than runs background tracts to the symphony they make above my head. I went thru' this process twice as I had 5 teeth repaired in 2 days. I am not an easy patient as I have PTSD & other issues. In February, I established care at the Mint Dental Denali location and was less than impressed with the care. During my filling, I felt like I was being water boarded. Even with requests to reposition, it didn't get better. I asked for some finishing on my tooth due to wear facets, but she just didn't get it. I wasn't sure I wanted to go back. Instead, I changed locations to give them another try and I'm glad I did. I went to the Rhone Circle location and had an awesome experience. The receptionist was personable and pleasant. My dental hygienist was efficient and informative. After my cleaning, I had a tooth extracted and since I can't have epinephrine in my numbing agent, I was concerned how it might go. They used the perfect amount of numbing agent and the dentist came in and extracted my tooth with no pain! He also did some finishing on my adjacent tooth as the filling had chipped and it was rough with wear facets. Overall a very pleasant and efficient trip to the dentist, with no undue pain. This is my second time here at Mint Dental and having been to a slew of dentists (and getting bad dental work redone) on both the east/west coast, I give a HUGE thumbs up to Dr. McNeil and his staff. I currently live in a village and urgently needed a root canal/build up done on short notice before flying back home. Tonya was amazing and got me a 7am appointment (my flight was at 10:40am) with Dr. McNeil which he graciously accommodated, and within an hour I was totally taken care of. In addition, I was not able to get a car rental due to the high summer prices so was cabbing it everywhere. Dr. McNeil and staff went above and beyond and I was driven to a pharmacy to pick-up my medication, the only reason I was not driven to the airport as well was because I had another appointment in the area before my flight, what do you think about that service!!! I am not sure about the reviewer (Joshua G.) who gave this place one star (he sounds very unreasonable) but trust me, if you want a talented, highly professional dental team who treats their patients with the highest level of care, then this is the place for you. read more

This is by far the best Dental Office in Anchorage. Dr. McNeil is outstanding. While looking at my X-Rays he discovered an abnormal mass in my jaw. He immediately referred me to a Surgeon and luckily the tumor that was removed was benign. There was concern it could have been cancer. Although benign, Dr McNeil's attention to detail saved me from problems down the road as it had to be removed, but a discovery like this could save someone's life. I came to see him for extensive dental work and had seen two other well known dental offices before my visit, to obtain quotes. Neither one noticed the tumor! Same jaw, same X-Ray area, but they failed to see it. All they saw were $$ signs for the implants and were ready to get started ! Thank you Dr McNeil for your excellence. I called in ahead of time to let the receptionists know that I would be arriving 10 minutes late for my appointment due to work reasons. They were very understanding and able to accommodate. After checking in, it wasn't long before my name was called. I was shown to the exam room and shared a friendly conversation with the dental assistant about the nice weather and beautiful view of the mountains. I commented about how much I really like the massage chairs here. Yes, massage chairs. The dental assistant couldn't turn on the massage function so she moved us to another room with a properly functioning chair. Totally unnecessary but much appreciated. My time here was spent comfortably. The appointment went off without a hitch and then the friendly staff scheduled me for my next visit. I highly recommend Mint Dental. Thanks! read more

I originally went to Dr. McNeils office for a check-up and cleaning. The staff was very professional. The hygienist was friendly and informative, she did an awesome job! A few weeks later I went under IV sedation to have my wisdom teeth extracted. For this, I went to Dr. Robertson. Staff at this location was also friendly and very professional. As soon as I finish my paperwork I was taken back, no waiting! Dr. Robertson was awesome! She explained everything and before I knew it my teeth were out! A member of the staff helped me all the way to my car! I had very little swelling, no bruising, and very little pain! I highly recommend Mint Dental! As long as I'm in Anchorage this is the ONLY dental office I will go to=) read more

Not only is this office beautiful, but the staff are SO friendly and courteous. I'm impressed that the hygienist could clean my teeth (it's been atleast 3 years since my last one) without making me bleed and hurting my mouth. She was conservative in her recommendations for my future oral hygiene plan, and I didn't feel like she was trying to push treatment on me. It wasn't until I asked her if I needed night-guards (for grinding teeth at night) that she said yes, it would help reduce the wear and tear on my teeth. Good luck finding a practice that won't try to sell you every expensive treatment possible at the slightest opportunity! Went in for a crown today and was seen by dental assistant, Shirleen and Arne Krogh (DDS). Both worked very well together. Their energy was happy and reflected that they enjoy what they do. They communicated with me throughout the whole process ensuring I was comfortable letting me know we can take as many breaks as needed to rest my jaw. This meant a lot being I have TMJ. I truly felt they genuinely cared about me as a patient. Now days it's hard to find good service and people who genuinely care about those they provide service to. I needed a lot of of work done, and was quoted over 10g at my last dentist...I simply couldnt afford it, (3 fillings, 2 extractions, 2 implants) so went to Thailand and was quoted 5800...Dr. McNeil (Mcneal?) looked at my quote and worked with me and quoted me 6000. Bedside manner is great, i would like to have the same hygienist every time, that hasnt happened but no biggie. Whoever commented that their costs are out of line hasn't shopped around. I went in for a check to see if I qualify for invisiline and Dr. Jeff with Mint Dental was excellent. I was very satisfied with his work experience and customer service. He and his associates conducted themselves wonderfully and were very accommodating in addressing any questions or concerns that I had. I'm choosing Mint Dental as my primary dental provider after this visit. Their facility is also quite possibly the nicest dental office I've ever seen. I was just seen by Dr. McNeil a few minutes ago. Found out I have to have a procedure done all over. Even though it's upsetting I feel confident to know I'll be in their hands. Honestly. I'm thinking about the money lost and how much more I will have to spend and I'll just have to suck it up but I have a wonderful feeling about Mint Dental and I hope it doesn't change during my stay there. I had my first appointment here last week. The office is in a nice building on the third floor with pretty views from the dental chair. I hate getting xrays of my teeth, but I appreciated that when they did the xrays, they took the hard plastic thing out of my mouth between each one. I liked Dr Bickler. I have a ton of old fillings, so after the exam she explained why she recommended replacing some of the old fillings and which ones she was keeping an eye on and what to expect at the next exam. read more

I really appreciate the "perfectionist" attitude that Dr. McNeil and his team have. I am an older patient with significant dental issues. On a recent visit, Dr. McNeil went out of his way to ensure that the procedure had the best possible result. He did this even though it took extra time and effort and cut into his bottom line. I've been coming to Mint for a few years now and have loved it! I don't spend much time in the waiting room, but it's very open and inviting. Brittny is an amazing dental hygienist and I would highly recommend her! I've requested her since my first appt there and I've always had great experiences with her. I'm 50-ish but turn into an 8 year old when I have to go to the dentist. Wasn't concerned about the size of the place, more with the patient experience. Overall area is clean and relaxing, with fireplace, large screen TV and free coffee. Most important was that they were able to put me at ease during my visit, which I truly appreciated.
