I went here for years and do NOT recommend. They consistently overcharge and I had enough when they decided to do an extra procedure on my daughter without coming to me first. She was taken from the lobby and then waited by herself in a room for 45 minutes before being seen by anyone. The extra procedure they did on her was $1,000 extra and they had no problem billing that amount. The extra procedure took 3 days to recover from and I would not have said yes to it. I called several times to speak with a manager and despite leaving messages with people and on voicemail, the manager never responded. I just got calls from the front desk asking to be paid. When I told them that I was changing dentists and wanted to leave with no bills they said I was squared up -owed nothing. Months later they called me about a payment that they found I owed. I could go on and on, but not worth any more of my time. This place is overpriced and unprofessional. read more

My sister added an appointment which happened to be the worst appointment she's ever had in her entire life. The dental hygienist was inappropriate and mean. My sister's been a nurse for years and the dental hygienist berated her about her presumably high blood pressure. She then went into depth about "teaching" her about her teeth and gums, and proceeded to poke her gums until her entire mouth was bleeding. She felt shamed and violated. This woman should be held accountable and/or fired. The appt was around 11 on November 3rd. I'm guessing she has had other complaints. And you've just lost a client who also owns her own business and has sent people to this dental office as well. read more

My family and I have gone to this dental office for more than 20 years. I adore Dr Henrie and Dr Waddel, but the entire staff from receptionists to hygienists to dentists have always been amazingly professional, caring, and top notch to work with. I recommend my dentist to all of our friends, as I have observed and experienced these people helping their patients in so many ways over the years and time and again I've overheard patients thanking the people at the front desk for the wonderful care they've received. Not all my friends have this experience at the dentist so I'm grateful we go here. read more

I have intense 'dentist anxiety', and saw Dr. Mishler after checking out two other dentists in town. Their office decor was soothing and relaxing, and all of the staff members were extremely kind. I was even able to meet Dr. Mishler and get a tour of his office before deciding to become a patient. His calm demeanor was reassuring, and I would highly recommend his office to anyone. Their charges were comparable (and even lower in some cases) than the estimates given by the other dentists I met, and his office accepts Care Credit, which is a big help. His office has state-of-the art equipment, and a level of technology I had not seen in the other offices I had looked into. There were many options regarding levels of sedation, and he listened carefully to my questions and concerns. His explanations were clear and thorough, and the root canal process with Dr. Mishler was honestly a better experience (and was less painful) than many of the basic fillings I have had in the past. I can not say enough good things about this office, and truly feel in good hands with them. While I've only had work done by Dr. Mishler, I had the opportunity to meet some of the other dentists in that practice, and they certainly seem just as kind. He took the time to allay my fears and provided the level of explanation I wanted. I never felt like he was rushing, and I never felt that he was growing frustrated or impatient. He checked in with me on my anxiety level throughout the procedure, and it really was pain-free. I am so grateful that I found such a good dentist! read more

We called ahead to see if we could use our insurance through them. They told us yes and in the end scheduled thousands of dollars worth of work. We asked what we'd be responsible for and were told 20%. In no where does it say on the written treatment plan they gad given us that this was an estimate. Ultimately we were asked to pay 50% instead of 20%, and over $400 for jus the first 2 hours of work done exclusively by a dental hygienist and not a dentist (a deep cleaning). Thankfully we didn't proceed with the rest of the work before finding this out. They would not work with us on the fees when we had gone out of our way to call ahead of time to ensure we could be covered if we used them. Then they said that they were not contracted with ANY insurance company. They were deceptive about not telling us that when scheduling thousands of dollars worth of care, and telling us 80% coverage by instance is to be expected when they knew they weren't contracted. I was initially happy to have found a holistic dentist, but clearly they are more interested in making maximum dollars and not customer care. I have never had a negative experience with a dentist. Most are very forthright about their relationship with insurance in order to not surprise patients in the end. We will be transferring care. Could I have called the insurance company myself to double check? Yes. But I had a newborn in my arms and asked them to call for me and at no point did they tell me they weren't contacted with ANY insurance. The tricky verbiage they use is "we will bill your insurance" but they leave out that they aren't contracted with them. Sneaky. Not professional. Not trustworthy. Very disappointing. read more

Having just moved here from Portland I needed to find a new dentist for my family. I had been to 5 dentists in Anchorage before I finally came to Health Centered Dentistry to see the amazing Dr. Mishler. I have very high standards. Dr. Mishler did a crown and he exceeded my high standards. My husband is afraid of dentists, but Dr. Mishler has a very calming presence (he is so good with children!!), my husband was able to relax while several of his Mercury filings were replaced in 1 visit. "Dr." Marchant didn't even bother to explain to my wife what procedures he was going to do. Being Yup'ik Eskimo, and English not her first language, you'd think this...individual...would have taken the time to explain clearly and allow her time to ask questions. Nope. Even removed a rear tooth, explaining "you don't need that tooth to chew". Yeah. After Dr. Mishler left, this place has gone downhill. read more

My family and I used to see another dentist here in town and became tired of their poor service. My wife found Health Centered Dentistry and I was skeptical, but I have to say a year and a half later, I'm a very satisfied customer. The office staff are very polite and respectful, the hygienists are very knowledgeable and thorough with the cleanings and the dentist doesn't recommend unnecessary work. I chipped a tooth last year and was just gonna deal with, but when I went in for a routine cleaning, the dentist smoothed it over since it was small and didn't affect anything and didn't even charge me for it. Another big factor for me is whether or not my daughter is comfortable and she loves going to the dentist now. The staff is all very nice to her and she enjoys chatting with them, they also let her watch while her mother and I get our teeth cleaned and explain to her what they are doing and why. I give this place a big thumbs up! read more

Dr. Mishler was honestly the best dentist I've ever seen. He was so kind and compassionate. I didn't have the whole deposit to put down for my emergency root canal but he told them he'd do it any way. Was belittled by Dr. Kent Marchant! I had $18,000 worth of work done only to have a cap pop off as I was using a water pick and a cap break near the gum surface while eating soft food. I contacted Marchant and was hoping for him to have me come in and hopefully compensate as I have had caps last over 15 years. Instead, Marchant told me it was caused because of my poorly hygiene regiment. How does he know what I've been doing? Since spending almost 20K on my teeth and having to pay out of pocket, I have been really good about brushing and flossing two or three times a day, including water picking and mouth wash. I was furious with him yet let it slide, well today as I was flossing, another cap just popped off. Why did I have caps before last 15-20 years and now they don't even last 2 years? I now have to find another dentist who can fix his mistake and hopefully takes a payment plan as I have no insurance. I love the staff there yet I will not go back because of how I was treated by Dr. Marchant. read more

*Updated review* 2/16/15 Dr. Mishler took the time to meet with me and address my concern about how the insurance was handled. He assured me that there is a policy in place for contacting insurance providers for new individual patients and there must have been a mistake when mine was not called. Knowing that there is something in place to prevent my situation and that this was just an unlucky lapse in office procedure made me reconsider my review. Mistakes happen! I really appreciate the dentist taking the time to talk to me. He really values reputation and wants the best for his clients. ________________________________________ 2/12/15 (Two stars) I had the exact same experience as Ana N. Without writing a book about the whole experience - Their estimate was not close to what I was going to have to pay. I felt tricked into having costly treatment done after being told I was covered. Other front desk staff and a dental hygienist were not very good at customer service. One of the dental hygienists was passive aggressive and some people at the front desk told me it was my fault. They explained they don't have the time to contact insurance providers to check if patients are covered or not. If that is the case they should not give estimates or warn patients that they may not be accurate and they should double check with their insurance. I now know to do this in the future and should have in this instance, but I'd never had a problem like it at previous dentists. Luckily their manager Andrea, who is amazing at her job, helped me get coverage through my secondary insurance the front desk preciously told me I couldn't use. My dentist Dr. Mishler was great as well - super helpful and good at his job. In the end, had I not made such fuss about being given the wrong estimate and not actually contacting the insurance provider, I would have paid 100% of an expensive bill. Things all worked out thanks to the manager, but I'd rather not deal with all this every time I visit the dentist. I'll be finding a new dentist. read more

Dr. Henry saw me as a new patient. Tue and after listening to my many issues fit me in 3 days from 1st appt on fri for crown prep and seat + ext and temp partial I have my 3rd surgery in two weeks and was distressed about loosing a tooth anchor for a failed 5 tooth bridge and not having a partial to make it look better til treatment plan complete as I will be in neck brace and back brace 2 weeks from now for 6 weeks. My life seemingly spinning out of control, Dr. Henry patiently listened to my story and found a way to fit me in and and create a sense of control and peace of mind when all else seemed like a tornado spinning around me. His assistant was new but offered to assist him on her day off. Also Fri was Dr Henry's day off. So much kindness had me in tears when I left. The front desk staff also were bright cheery and offered kind words of support. As for the office I have never seen a dental office so large and up-to-date it had more operatories than I've ever seen in the dental clinic and a tidy lab. The office is very modern, well designed and has expensive looking art around it. The waiting room had water, tea, and snacks that staff offered joyfully before I could sit. They were decorating the office very tastefully for Christmas and were full of spirit. I'm forever grateful I found them. read more

I went here to get 3 teeth capped but they told me I needed to have my wisdom teeth out before they do it. So I scheduled for the extraction... It's a week wait no problem there but when I get to their office the day of the surgery they tell me they forgot to give me a prescription for anxiety which would have been great. The couple nights prior I didn't sleep at all. But then they tried to frame it like I took off work and couldn't get more time off but in hindsight I think that was a ploy....they booked me for a 4 hour chunk of time and didn't want/couldn't fill that time short notice... Which in fact wasn't even the case surgery was on my day off. so I got a call a few days after the extraction from health centered dentistrys customer service representative asking about the surgery. I was still in a lot of pain and a little upset about my experience there so I told her "I paid the same amount of money anyone else would but didn't get the same treatment therefore i think I'm untitled to some compensation" . She calls back a day later and basically says it won't happen again then asks if there was anything else she could do for me?!?! I said again some kinda compensation or refund. 2 days go by she tells me they will give me 5% discount the next treatment if I pay in full/cash...which is what they give everyone if you pay in full. Rant I know but the lesson here is this place will try to get you to do thousands of dollars of work you don't even want, they may or may not give you the best service available to them, then when they dan't own up to their own mistakes they hide behind p*** poor customer service reps saying it won't happen again and reminding you of the 5%off. I'm so happy I get to be part of an office that values me and my health. The entire office is friendly and welcoming every visit! There is no judgement, instead education on how I can best take care of my mouth; my health. I wish more people would realize the value this office places on each individual. It is an established health centered office. Not a " doc in the box". They truly care! The office is upbeat, full of laughter and kindness. It reflects off of each and every team member how they interact not only with me, but each other. They even offer a gift card if I refer a friend for an exam. I get one, the friend I refer gets one! I don't need a bonus to be there, but wow! They impress me every step of the way. I know I can count on HCD if I have a dental concern or an emergency. They are cutting edge on the latest technologies- ozone, PIN grafting procedures, implant dentures.... If you are trying to decide on a dental home, look no more! Quality work, quality people, and as I have checked other offices... their fees are comparable, if not less! I could use a PPO, but want my dental work to be what I need, not what my insurance company dictates what I can have. I make decisions for my health, not them. I give this dentist 5 stars because Kathleen and Dr. Bragiel and the rest of the staff are very kind and caring. The office is nice and they are careful to make sure you are comfortable. I've had some problems with billing in the past, but that issue has been resolved and they were quick to try to correct the problem. Some dentist offices are more up-scale and have more "bells and whistles," but this office will always be the place I go for one reason: because they are concerned about your whole health. I have an autoimmune disease that was triggered by toxins, so I am very scared of being exposed to any toxic chemicals or having any unnecessary procedures. This dental office works with every patient's individual needs and is well-informed about the dangers of toxic ingredients, allergens, and chemicals. They use all natural chapstick, and try to use the most natural ingredients possible in all their dentistry. They safely removed my mercury filling and went above and beyond to protect me from any mercury exposure during that procedure. They also will do special testing to find out if you are sensitive to any substances so they can choose which formulas to use for any fillings you may need. This is the way all health care should be. read more
