I've been going to Mint Dental since 2018 and it's been a consistent experience overall. The front desk is easy to work with, especially for scheduling and insurance questions. I had my wisdom teeth removed here and the healing was quicker than I expected. I've also seen a few different providers and everyone has been kind and informative. They're good about explaining things--I've picked up better flossing habits over time. Cleanings are straightforward, fluoride is quick, and the view during appointments is a nice bonus. I left in tears. Although I was not previously a patient, (due to no insurance), my husband was, and this seemed like a great place to go for dental needs. The office was nice, the people were nice, the scheduling was very flexible, so when I finally became insured, I knew my teeth weren't in good shape, but I made an appointment to start what was sure to be a long dental journey. Boy was I wrong. The first thing was the cleanliness, or lack of. The chair/area I was seated in, was VERY dirty. The overhead light was completely covered with, IDK what you call it, when you floss and flecks of debris fly out of your mouth and hit the mirror, I am sure it has an official name, but whatever it is called, the light looked like it hadn't been wiped or washed in quite a long time. But then the hygienist kept touching the light to move it around, then kept putting her fingers in my mouth, to take an X-ray. And I know it must be a real pain to change gloves constantly, but you cannot go into the other room, use the computer and the keyboard, adjust the light, and touch God knows what else, and then put your fingers in my mouth. I was horrified and kept thinking to myself, this cannot be normal. The worst part, and the reason for the tears, was that I had been looking forward to going to the dentist for awhile. I had a few problems with different teeth, I definitely needed a cleaning, and I had very recently lost one of my front teeth in an accident, so I was very eager to make a plan for that. When the dentist came into the room, after looking at my X-rays, I was told that all they could and would do, is pull all of my teeth and give me dentures. I was in no way prepared to hear this news, and it very much devastated me. I asked about fixing the one missing tooth, and was told insurance wouldn't pay for it, since apparently dentures seemed to be my only option. But if I wanted to pay for it myself, I was quoted $1400. And that was it. No cleaning? Nope, not going to waste time cleaning your teeth when we are just going to rip them all out. Sadly, my experience was not at all was I had expected. My husband still goes, and has no problem. But me and my teeth have moved on to a place that let me keep my teeth. read more

If you go as far back as I do, then you might remember a TV comedy show about a neighborhood bar called Cheers. Part of Cheers' theme and charm is that it's a place you can go "where everybody knows your name." Mint Dental is hardly a bar, or even a place to get together with friends, but there are slight similarities, at that. A Cheers-like ambiance of men and women who seem truly glad to see me is hard to miss. As to the dentistry I received from Mint, well, I can only rate it as exceptional. From intake to Dr. Bowman, to billing, I am not simply pleased but also impressed. Mint Dental sits in a new building on Tudor Rd next to McDonald's. Their space and office views are elite. My spouse and I, have both been able to schedule emergency appts with no issues. I recently had a molar extraction that I was very nervous about. I received Nitrous gas and a local anesthetic. The dental assistants did a great job of keeping me informed and prioritizing my comfort. I was even given a blanket. Mint Dental seems to run like an assembly line, when it comes to seeing or speaking with your dentist. Thankfully, the dental assistants are always able to take their time with you. Dr. McNeil was kind, and quick with the extraction. I was surprised and thankful it was over so fast. I will definitely return to Mint Dental for future dental treatments. read more

A Frustrating and Painful Experience with Mint Dental My experience with Mint Dental has been nothing short of a nightmare. I initially went in for a routine cleaning, and while I had no issues, they informed me that my root canals needed treatment. Instead of completing the procedure, they left me with a hollow, sensitive tooth and sent me to an endodontist. What followed was devastating: my front tooth cracked. When I returned to Mint Dental, I was told that this was normal and that all teeth wiggle a bit. But the endodontist explained that my tooth cracked because Mint Dental had removed the crucial structural support. I reached out to Mint Dental for answers. Their response was that my tooth was already cracked before their procedure. If that was the case, why did they proceed with treatment on a compromised tooth? This response has left me feeling utterly helpless and confused. In my search for justice, I contacted a medical malpractice lawyer, only to find out they have a conflict of interest with Mint Dental. The Alaska Bar Association advised me to find a private attorney who specializes in dental malpractice, but this has been incredibly challenging. I've been in constant pain, unable to eat properly, and feeling trapped in a situation with no easy solutions. Desperate for relief, I've considered options abroad. I've heard about dental care in Mexico, but I'm anxious about finding a trustworthy provider. Meanwhile, I also looked into the Oregon Dental School, where many of Mint Dental's practitioners are alumni, and the reviews were unsettling. Without a credit history in the U.S., affording an implant is not possible at the moment, which only adds to my stress and frustration. Overall, my experience with Mint Dental has been heartbreaking. Their lack of professionalism and disregard for patient care have left me in a dire situation. They seem more focused on insurance claims than on genuinely helping their patients. I urge anyone considering Mint Dental to think carefully and explore other options. Also dentist paying layers big bucks to stay in practice, so you regular client is not protected at all. Stay out of this Dental Offices in Alaska - they are the most expensive in the world, no competition - so treatment is the nightmare and on top of that - they are protected - you are not! read more

I keep going back and this place is consistently great. They offer a lot of services, have late hours, I always seem to get an appointment at or close to when I want it. They have gas and sedation if you need that. And everyone who works there is awesome. Their office is beautiful and has great views. It's also super easy to find with plenty of parking. Convenient location on Tudor. I can't remember my hygienist's name but she was very sweet and gentle. I felt at ease with her. My dentist was Dr. Slunniker and he was awesome. I don't know... going to the dentist can be super stressful and its so much better when everyone is nice and welcoming and has an easygoing demeanor. They've made going to the dentist as close to a pleasant experience as possible. They take most insurance. read more

They do good cleaning because I got that. No good at fillings, I went back to have them put some back in because some fell out & went back to have a bit of it grinded down. Finally I got tired of the Dentist telling me it was perfect & went to SCF where they did a very good job of fixing it. My tooth from them is really small than before now which I am very upset about. I prefer SCF cleaning my teeth now too. Make sure you get your insurance settled with them first because several times they told me my insurance was good to go when in fact it was not & I had to pay over $300 out of pocket. The staff is quite professional but you can sense a little rudeness. As of right it looks like I will need to redo the fillings they did when they come out I guess. read more

No really, the chairs massage you while you get your teeth cleaned, how cool is that, & the over all feel of the place is just very luxurious! And they are so helpful, & nice! I didn't have a dentist after moving to Alaska a few years ago (I'd had the same dentist back home my entire life and was without dental insurance my first year here). I had a dental emergency and called Mint Dental and they were able to fit me in within hours! I now go to them for my cleanings as well. I'm always able to get an appointment if there's a problem and they go through everything they will be doing and the costs so you can make an informed decision about your treatment. I've usually seen Dr. Bickler and I've found her to be compassionate and very informative about everything. The office is nice and clean, with a large waiting area. Definitely recommend! read more

This place is not the best, I got my wisdom teeth extracted the pain lasted two weeks and my jaw is still sore till this day, they left a scratch on the left side of my lip and said it was because they stretched it but I know that's bs and they did my fillings as I asked them when I was sleeping but it hurts and they have terrible guest services so I would have to say I rate this place the worst place had the worst experience. read more

After two visits to Mint, one at the 36th Street location, one here, I can say I am fully satisfied. They do a great job overall, from the beginning to the end. First, I like their electronic system that sends reminders to email and text. It's convenient and better, for me, than a phone call. Their desk staff is always friendly and efficient. They check in and out quickly. I have never encountered a bad attitude in person or on the phone. The hygienists I've visited do an excellent job of cleaning, using a soft touch. Today, I had Terry, and she was personable, and I appreciated her explanations of what she was going to do and why. She answered my questions, gave advice as requested, and was nice to chat to. I was very comfortable. I didn't see the dentist today, but last time I did, and she was very good, thorough, and I appreciated her positive attitude and recommendations. I even like the toothbrushes they give out, and the mini-Chapstick I got today was a nice touch I haven't had before. And the waiting rooms are comfy and nice, though since they keep appointments well, I haven't had to spend much time in them. I have seen reviews where folks had issues with unexpected charges, and that hasn't happened. Like today, before Terry was going to do a fluoride treatment, she checked to see if my insurance covered it. Since it didn't, she asked if I wanted it and gave me a price. I know they did the same with my hubby, who also uses and likes Mint. I appreciated that. I'll keep going back, for sure. read more

I have an appointment Friday at an office where we are the only patient at a time and are treated with dignity and respect and not like which of my 3 customers am I going to get the most money from and send the others home and reschedule them, just unacceptable. I was in shock of the treatment and getting kicked out our appointment today due to errors in booking appointments on your end. I have never felt so worthless to an office before or felt like we were cattle being herd. Never will return. And when I went back with my daughter the Dental Assistant told me the Dr's frown on the parents coming back with the child. Really? My daughter is 15 FYI. I had questions re: braces. WOW. I had a root canal and crown procedure done a while back and took advantage of a short term payment plan they offered: three months, three (roughly) equal payments. The dentist and staff were friendly and did a competent job. The problem came with the last payment. My insurance didn't cover as much as Mint estimated so they tacked an additional 75% onto the last payment amount. Now, there's no question I owed the money but the amount charged to my card wasn't authorized and they gave me no advance notice nor an opportunity to select another form of payment. No call. No letter. Totally unacceptable. I am now a former patient. There are too many decent dental clinics in this town to put up with such nonsense. read more

I chose Mint off the internet because I thought it was a Mom and Pop type place. Since I had a horrible experience at Family Dentistry on Lake Otis, I wanted to avoid big offices. I was disappointed when I walked in and saw so many people working there. I asked and they had 6 dentists, exactly what I was trying to avoid. They were nice, albeit a little expensive (have to pay all those people somehow), I'll update with a rating after my crown is set next week. I had my first root canal here. I was very pleased with how nice and accommodating they were. And they were very thorough on breaking down the payment so I new what I was paying. They also filled in a cavity while I was doing the root canal so that I wouldn't have to come back in later. Showing they care enough to know is have to pay way more later if they didn't do it in the moment. And while i was healing they were able to get me in the next day when I was in pain and figured out what it was instantly. Hands down, best dentist in town for me. read more

What an awesome Place... Had the privilege of Dr. Robertson extracting my wisdom tooth... She is STELLER !!!!!!! I did not feel the shot's at all... She, and her amazing staff took wonderful care of me... WOW !!!! First time in my 53 years that she made a dental visit completely painless and comfortable... I chose to just go with numb, no sedation... Not scared of the dentist anymore thanks to her.. The beautiful young lady at the front desk (long curly hair) is perfect for the job... She is top notch as well... I highly recommend Mint Dental.. I paid cash.. They are completely affordable.. I am back up and to my regular life a day and a half later !!!! If that!! I felt like I was in a third world country. The one redeeming quality was that they could get me in the same day. Other than that, it was ghetto from the get go. The waiting room was EXTREMELY hot (mind you the high temp for that day was 62), and others were commenting on it. Once it the exam room, the dental hygienist bedside manner was if she was still in school, she kept falling all over herself with the same questions and procedures. When the dentist came in he spent literally 4 minutes with me and started arguing with the dental hygienist. I would never recommend this place for both the aesthetics and the cattle call feeling. ** PLEASE DON'T GO TO MINT DENTAL!!!!!** I have an upper partial and tooth broke off. I took it to Mint Dental because they have a local lab for repairs so the partial would be fixed quicker. The partial had to be adjusted once it was ready for me to go pick it up. After it was adjusted and I placed it in my mouth, I soon realized how badly messed up the partial was. There was no way for me to wear it in the condition it was in. After many adjustments, and me telling them that I just couldn't wear it the way it was, Dr. McNeil REFUSED to do anything else to my partial!! And he didn't even have to respect to come tell me this himself, he had his assistant do it instead. I went to a different dentist today and they confirmed that the partial is badly fixed beyond repair so I'm having a new one made. When I told them who did the work, the assistant told me that they've gotten a lot of patients who've come from Mint Dental with dental issues as a result of the problems they'd had with Mint Dental. To Mint Dental LLC, I am letting you know in writing to discontinue any further plans to work on my behalf. I will not have any further procedures at Mint Dental. I am not happy with the services you have provided so far and do not believe I have received the highest quality of care. I have had your office preform cavity fillings and a root canal with in the last two months. Upon my last visit where I was in insurmountable pain I had a conversation with tow different people, none of which was a doctor. The receptionist suggested I might have an infection so I was taken back by an assistant. Her response to my pain was, "you probably just do not have a high tolerance and if the pain last longer you may just need to have it extracted". Her delivered response from the doctor was, "you will just need to expect to be in pain for up to six weeks". The second person managed to get some doctor to write a prescription for pain medicine even though I had mentioned they really did not help plus they also made me nauseous. I was sent on my way. After suffering all weekend taking the medication with no relief I went to another dentist for a second opinion. After a full spectrum of test were completed including x ray, what was found was that I had an infection throughout my gums and also areas of decay that had been missed. I was told that no dentist should have put temporary caps on the areas of my teeth that were still symptomatic. No one at Mint Dental was "deeply committed to business practices that are designed strictly for the comfort and convenience of every patient and their families." Since I had to pay up front for all the work even before it was all completed I do expect a refund for services. I paid in full up front for permanent caps but did not have them fitted. read more

For regular care, they're the best in Anchorage, hands down. Best hygienists, office space, and service. If you have a dental emergency in Anchorage, Alaska, and you call Mint Dental's emergency line after hours, though, you will wait for more than an hour and no one will call you back. Excellent dental care. I have been seen at a few dental offices in anchorage trying to find a good one. Mint dental is far away better than anywhere else I tried. Dr. McNeal is very talented, and honest. I am confident that I am getting the best care possible, without extraneous work being done. I am shocked seeing all the positive reviews because my experience with Mint Dental was extremely unsatisfactory. Maybe a lot has changed since I went there almost 3 years ago. I have a partial and I went there to have it fixed because it wasn't fitting properly. They sent it off to their lab. A few days later I returned to get the partial. I was shocked to see that the partial looked horrible. When I told them that I couldn't wear it in the condition it was in they refused to fix it. I was in the process of moving in a few days so I had to have my partial before I left. I was forced to go to a different dentist. This other dentist told me that they had received more than one patient from Mint Dental who had had bad experiences as well. My sister in law also went to Mint Dental needing a crown from a root canal that had been done. Instead of doing the crown they pulled her tooth, before consulting her and my brother about it. Like I said before, maybe things have changed since then. I just wouldn't want anyone's experience to be bad like mine. read more
