The place has a real lively vibe, the food is good, and the service is friendly and attentive. The only reason for the 3.5 star rating is the PRICE$. Folks, I get that this is Winnetka, and that is a "happening" place (looks like a converted car repair shop with many contemporary-industrial decor touches), but Holy Cow, $64 for a New York strip steak on special?!? C'mon, this is downtown prices...in Winnetka! Other items on the menu were also highly priced like the $20 salmon crudo, and $13 appetizer salad. Both these items WERE the highlight of my meal by the way. So... the place is cool, and the food is very good, but I just can't get passed the small loan I had to take out to pay the bill for our party of 6. I would encourage folks to shop the prices first, and the try out Mino's. read more

Not many places to go in Winnetka and happy to have Mino's. Was buzzing on a Friday night but service was solid and attentive. Octopus appetizer and pizza were thumbs up. Fish entree was so-so. I do believe the menu better lends itself to dine-in vs carryout. Waters were readily refilled and wine list was good. $100 dinner for 2, before tip. Love the patio. I met some friends at Mino's On Friday evening for dinner. A really great experience with top notch service. The food is spectacular & the ambience is so comfortable. It was rainy so the patio was not open but it looked very inviting as well. I had the pizza w sausage, red onion & peppers. It was delicious & some of the best ZA I've had in Chicagoland. Unassuming from the outside Mino's really delights the pallet and warms the soul. Our wait staff, awas knowledgeable and pleasant without being overwhelming. I appreciated everyone's knowledge of the wine selection. The bar had excellent bourbons and a fantastic Manhattan. The house mix wasn't too sweet and balanced the rye used in the drink creating a great balance. My steak was fantastic. I had a filet with a light lemon rosemary topping. The crust on the steak was outstanding and had wonderful seasoning. Others had the rib eye and the Kids had pizza and buttered noodles. Everyone loved their meal. Dessert had many good options: flourless chocolate torte, Panacotta, and tiramisu. We got the panacotta and the tiramisu along with a 20year tawny port . The panna cotta was wonderful and sought to conjure a decomposed Apple pie. It had a wonderful crust replete with fall flavors (Allspice) and a wonderful apple chunks (small melon baller). The Tirimisu was pleasant and not overstated. I appreciated that it didn't have a ton of rum or alcohol flavor; which I associate with a heavy hand. This was subtle while being very pleasing. Finally the lemon sober was cool and clean without being too sweet. Overall this was a wonderful experience for me and my family and would recommend it to others. read more

We went for the first time to your restaurant to celebrate an anniversary. Wow, what a fabulous experience! Not only was the food superb, but our server, Eloise, was probably the best one we've ever had. She was the most friendly, happy, conscientious and just downright sweet. It was most memorable! I've been coming to this restaurant ever since it opened. The service is consistently excellent, the ambiance is great, and the drinks are elite. My favorites are the Tortelloni alla Modenese (although off the menu for a short time, glad it's back!), Cacio e Pepe, Burrata and you can't go wrong with any of the salads. I'm also happy to see a new salmon dish on the menu. My only critique is to add the prosciutto arugula pizza with a white base back-I know it's a big hit! Gabby, an outstanding hostess and manager always takes the best care of us. Looking forward to going there again soon! read more

I was here a few weeks ago for a weekend dinner with my parents. It was my first time here and I was pretty impressed with the space considering it use to be a car repair shop. We made a reservation online and were promptly seated upon arrival. We started with the BURRATA with heirloom tomatoes and pesto which was delicious. I highly recommend you order it with the toasted bread. They also have these very tasty herb crackers that are complementary. I had the TAGLIATELLE ALLA BOLOGNESE for my main course. The pasta is made fresh and it was very rich and flavorful. I think Mino's is a great addition to the Hubbard Woods area as we have lost a lot of restaurants in the neighborhood over the past years. This is best Italian restaurant in the north shore, without a doubt. I've been coming here for a few years and loved picking up there food during the lockdown. Recently, I went here for my grandfathers birthday and the food and service was exceptional. They have a gorgeous private room that we utilized for the event. Food was absolutely amazing. From grilled brussle sprouts to the spicy muscles everything was exceptional. They also have one of the best rack of lamb dishes I have ever tasted. Service was exceptional with our waiter checking in on us and keep our drinks full. He was also extremely knowledgeable about every dish as we do have a few food allergy's in the family. The employees were unhygienic and poorly trained, in fact, i found a gnarly hair in my noodle (assuming from a servers pit)! They have, what looks like 3 areas: a tent, a fire pit, and a large patio that is loaded with heat lamps- regardless of where you are sitting on the patio you will be blasted with the warmth. They've nailed this. Now let's talk about service. The hostess was kind and gracious both upon checking in as well as the numerous rounds they made throughout the evening to make sure we were doing alright. Same for the bussers, wait staff, and house manager- checking throughout the evening to make sure all was good. So attentive and kept the water glasses and soft drinks filled. Onto the food, my husband started with a fall salad which had greens, apples, and nuts- a truly lovely blend, and the dressing was out of this world! He is a pizza junky and said that he has had better pizza. I disagree, I thought the pizza was outstanding. He did say it was larger, almost too large, for a single serve. That's why I tag along...to eat what may be too much for him . My tortellini was soft, puffy, and oh, so good. Just the right amount of brown butter! Nonetheless, their pasta is absolutely delicious with a wide array of appetizers to choose from. I believe their pasta is made in house which is an extra bonus. Second time here and I have to say it's "Da Bomb"! Love love love the food! This place is hopping after 9:00 for a Friday which says a lot for the 8:00 PM North Shore Crowd- and 8 is late up here!!! Started with meatballs, prosciutto pizza, frito mista...all deeelish cept the frito was Meh. Entree wise: Steak was awesome---perfectly cooked with a nice char outside and flavor for days. Tagliatelle with Bolognese as most Yelpers have said is excellent and indeed it is. Downside: I reserved on Resy and requested NOT to be seated in the back and sure enough we were seated in the back which is a horrible afterthought of a room. Looks more like a storage area and is adjacent to the toilets. If you have to wait an additional hour I'd suggest you wait instead of sitting in this horrible atmosphere. I'd give this place 5 stars but the host people were so ill trained and so did not handle this right. I actually asked to be moved and was abruptly told "well you'll have to wait again at the bar when it opens up." How about reading my request to begin with!! Fail! Luckily the food was excellent otherwise this place would be a DNR. read more

I've been coming to and ordering from this restaurant for several years. Unfortunately we ordered three pasta dishes for carry out and the entrees were very dry and bland. We ordered this meal along with a large pizza and one other pasta dish. I called to ask for a restaurant credit for the three dishes and the owner simply said he wasn't going to provide a credit. The food that we served to our guests was embarrassing to say the least. We order from this restaurant quite a bit and have been to the restaurant to dine in. I've been recommending this restaurant to family and friends since it's opening. The cavalier and total disregard for my patronage is shocking. Save your money and choose a different restaurant to spend your money. read more

I came here on a Friday night with my girlfriends during the holidays and we had a great time. Do make reservations as they get busy on prime dinner time and the place was buzzing. We got a few different pizzas as appetizers for the table and they were all delicious, I'm partial to the one with prociutto because who doesn't love it. We also got drinks for everyone and they were tasty as well. For my entree, I was already full from alcohol and carbs that I decided to still try their cacio e pepe. It was tasty. The portion was pretty good, this isn't Olive Garden but they still give you a decent size. I can't say that I loved it, it was tasty but I've definitely had better. What made this place more personable to me as that the owners came by during our dinner to introduce themselves and say hi, I think that is great business right there. If they're newer the block, they want to make themselves known so people feel more comfortable so points for that. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area as the people here are very nice as well as our server who went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We were looking for local Italian. We thought we would try Minos and almost went by when we realized it was in a rehabbed auto repair shop. When we went inside it was really nice ..a higher end casual chic. It was a bit loud but lots of energy. We shared a scallop with mushroom appetizer that was incredible! I had the fresh morel pasta which was delicious. I understand there is a short season so I'll need to get back fast to enjoy it one more time. We wrapped up with a tiramisu. The waiter was very personable. All around exceeded expectations. We were hesitant initial due to one negative review. I'd recommend they try again! We will be back! read more

Hit Mino's last night with the family. Everything was excellent. Highly recommend. I have one very small complaint but first the good stuff. - They sat us on time - Service was excellent, food came out on time and quickly - Drinks were great - we had a rose and white wine - Food was excellent - Started with the burrata and meatballs then had bolognese, cacio e pepe pasta, salmon and thinkly pounded milanese. Portions were the right size too. Not too much not too little. Everything was delicious. - Decor is great for suburban place. Nice high ceilings, cool cement floor. Nicely designed menu, One very minor complaint. The bus boy kept trying to take our plates a bit too quickly. It was a bit annoying. But a quick talking to can fix that no problem. So far have been to Mino's twice for birthday celebrations. Reservations are easily made online and they were nice enough to let us bring in a cake & slice & serve it. On both occasions Mino's was jam packed and they seated us promptly. Very nice wine list, excellent cocktails. Lively ambiance - the back section of the restaurant is a bit quieter if you are noise averse. We shared several starters - all excellent (pizza, salads and the Fritto misto was delicious. All of the pasta dishes we tried were excellent with perfect sized portions. I also tried the sirloin and it was seasoned and cooked just right. Roasted cauliflower & carrot sides were great too. Servers were friendly & efficient. Overall Mino's is a welcome addition to the North Shore!!! read more

It was my first Mino's experience last night, and it won't be the last! The restaurant was fully booked when my mom and I walked in without a reservation on Friday night, but the host staff was very kind and found a small high top table in the corner of the bar for us. I was very impressed by the friendliness + great service of all of the staff. We even had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Eric and his wife who did all of the interior design, and they couldn't have been any nicer. The food was incredible (crudo + artichoke appetizer are a must order). We ordered the cacio e pepe which was incredible and you could tell the noodles were homemade. Well, after tonight we decided we won't be returning. $38 for 2 oz of "spare ribs" and some mashed potatoes literally smeared across the plate as a "side." We had a very nice dinner here. Food was very good, service was mixed. The food earned 5 stars to me. We had the frito miso and pizza to start, both were very good. I ordered a spinach ravioli which was excellent and had a marinara sauce with just the right amount of spice. Everyone else in our group ordered different pastas and all enjoyed what they picked. As a whole our group thought the food was comparable with what you will find in the city. This is so needed on the north shore! Now for the service. We were helped by at least 3 people all were polite and attentive. However, our primary waiter was really unimpressive. He was high school or maybe college age. He has a very hard time describing the specials and even had trouble taking and writing down and what we ordered. Either he's young and just trying to get used to the new job or something else was off. Either way that didn't ruin our meal, although his inexperience was very noticeable. read more
