We haven't been here in a few years, mainly because they don't have reminders popping up on Facebook and we just forget. Still the same amazing selection of pop - try Earp's Sarsaparilla. My family stopped here on the beginning of our road trip. I had never been here before and I loved it!!! I couldn't believe the interior design. It is filled with fan favorite characters from Disney, Harry Potter, Marvel and Star Wars. They have a massive animatronic band of candy musicians. This was my first time here which was super fun! Honestly my favorite part was seeing the murals and all the decorations inside. They had a humongous selection of all types of different candy - some made more local as well as international. It all seems to be relatively reasonably priced. My husband and I went to the Minnesota's Largest Candy Store after visiting the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. (It was just 10 minutes south.) It was on a Saturday afternoon. The place was packed with people and so was their parking lot. Their parking lot is lined with chunky rocks, so I recommend that you wear comfortable shoes. The exterior has some cool artwork. The selection great. They had various candy, snacks, pies, pop, bake mix, and more. My husband and I spent about $40. I recommend that you bring cash, otherwise they have ATM throughout the store. It is probably because it was on a Saturday afternoon, but there were 17 cashiers, but I felt the flow waiting to get checked out was unorganized. There was a male employee yelling about how there's 17 tills and to try to move the crowd along. I also noticed the service was quick - a customer dropped a glass root beer bottle and the staff took care of it right away. Overall, the place is a must need to check out. Our selection was delicious! I highly recommend to NOT go on the weekends. We were taking the long way home from our week in the Mpls area and spotted this on a map and knew we had to stop. This quirky place is huge and has more than the largest collection of candy I have ever seen (including a big international selection) they also have lots of weird sodas, sauces, baked goods, kitchen gadgets, chips, snacks, etc. The decor inside and out is funky and just plain fun. Lots of sci-fi stuff. I saw an article that they will be moving to a new nearby location in a couple of years due to highway construction and building a giant new, very expensive store. They aren't kidding when they tell you it's the state's largest candy store. It's arguably probably the largest candy store I've ever been in period. We stopped here during our vacation from Los Angeles to the Mall of America. I remember reading someone else's review that said to not kid yourself by passing up a basket/cart when you come in, because you're just gonna have to go back and grab one. Accurate. Overall, we probably spent about an hour here and stocked up on a variety of candies, some foreign chips, and a couple sodas. Being that it was our last day in Minnesota before heading home, I'm pretty bummed we couldn't get a pie or some cheese curds. Definitely wish they had pie by the slice here! The decor in each room is pretty cool with different themes. The room at the very end with the space theme had some fun hidden gems in the decor, mainly I was excited to see the Planet Express ship on the ceiling. This place is a hoot! Awesome sauce! Wow! Yeah, I read other reviews about the crowds and so on but my visit earlier this week on a early afternoon weekday was pleasant with maybe 50-60 people inside shopping. The selection in this store is impressive to say the least. Inventory control must be a headache because they have so many local, national and international brands offered. When they say they have the largest soda selection I believe it. Just the number of root beer brands offered here blew my mind. And it's not just candy but many other foods to make you and the kids happy. For example, I counted 10 different varieties of fresh apples in paper bags for sale here. Beyond the candies and sweets, drinks and fresh fruits and other foods what about the interior decor? All of the incredible ceiling decorations including the rising and falling hot air balloons and the large free standing super hero figures are ripe for photo opportunities. What about the Candy Band whose members play a fun song every 5 minutes? Then you go into their restroom and you see all of the fine art reproductions on the walls. The transition in decor from Minnesota's Largest Candy Store to The Louvre is funny and noticeable. During my 20 minutes here, I noticed several employees restocking the shelves and available for assistance if needed. This was a fun stop and I agree it's hard to leave without buying something. I bought some rocky road fudge, a pecan log and buttered popcorn taffy. It was a fun visit. Remember this is a cash or local check operation only. No credit cards. Also they close for the winter. Wowzers!!! Found this place on Atlas Obscura and recently visited! At first we weren't sure if it would be worth the drive...visiting the MSP area with the fam...so it was about a 40 min drive...let me just say...so worth it!!!! Place is definitely hard to miss....it's a huge bright yellow building that sticks out in the middle of all the Apple orchards/farms/general greenery in the area. Lots of parking and lots of things! They only accept cash or checks and have a few ATM's inside...so be sure to plan accordingly. They have ample gravel lot parking...also mentioning this because rocks in your toes can be an issue with sandals. We had so much fun checking out all the things outside before we even walked into the door...so be sure to check those out...3D photo art, world's largest jigsaw puzzle, so much randomness! They have a lot of fun displays inside with various themes and of course you guessed it...lots of candies from all over the world! In addition they have the worlds largest soda selection, we bought some fun root beer flavors and brands! The biggest trick is getting out of here without buying anything, especially with kids in tow. Lots of candy to choose from, they definitely live up to their namesake. Such a neat experience! We definitely spent a solid hour walking around and taking it all in. Surprised by the amount of people there too! The parking lot filled up by the time we left. As a note there are no Covid procedures or policies in place anymore (as of July 2021). I didn't see any signs, masks, or markings on the floor. I will normally tell you that roadside kitsch is not worth a trip just to see it. This one, it might be the exception. W don't take a road trip to southwest MN without stopping here.
