First of all the service isn't nice and the administrator and director of the salon Shownda, was very rude. I was late for 5-6 minutes and I apologized, then waited for service for 3 minutes. I asked why am i waiting if you said u don't have time, I was replied in a very rude manner that I am not welcomed here because I am not 'kind'. I felt so racially mistreated and looked up and down at me as if I don't belong here and I paying for this with my OWN money. Then, my nails were so expensive and look terrible and uneven. Excellent pedicure and I prefer this location to Seaport. Seems like the girls here have fun. My last pedi the girl went to town on my feet and it was great!!! Unfortunately minus one star as I feel the quality of the polish has gone downhill the last year. It used to be I could have a pedicure look fine for months with no chipping and the last 3 pedis have had chipping polish within a few weeks on all the toes. Service: gel removal, a pedicure, and gel polish on my toes. I am visiting boston and was referred to mini luxe as one of the best nail salons and that I would be taken care of perfectly. I enjoyed the experience and everyone was very kind, but the job done on my toes was nowhere near 100 dollars worth of work. Normally I'm happy to pay for luxury service but I was very disappointed. I'm not usually one to complain, but when I feel I haven't received the service I paid for it's only fair to say so ! The colour is uneven and you can see the brush strokes. Filing is not very good and the gel polish is bleeding into my cuticles which means they're going to lift pretty soon, overall the job was messy. Worst waxing experience ever. They should not even offer this service, because the quality is so poor. Tons of hair missed and a 30 min service when the online booking says it is a 1hr service. The only miniluxe location that provides decent waxing service is at the Prudential, and even there, there are always different people, so it's still a crap shoot. read more

A NAIL BITER'S STORY I have been biting and picking my nails and cuticles since I acquired the motor skills to do so. I'm not cured, but by far the first/best/only thing that has created improvement is regular manicures. Miniluxe is clean and comfortable with excellent customer service. The front desk staff members are always attentive and on their game. Signature manicures and pedicures are great from lots of techs, but I highly recommend Denna especially if your cuticles are inflamed and your nails are nubs like mine were! She is so gentle, thorough and her paint job is perfect so there's nothing to pick at :) And I've been to a few people and it's worth noting that no one scolded or looked shocked/disgusted at the state my fingers were in. Also if you need a manicure like every 5 days to keep things *fresh*, the Luxe Pass membership is a surprisingly good deal! $65 a month for unlimited signature manis and polish changes. I hate to have to write this because I really really wanted to like this place, but they gave me the worst-lasting gel manicure I've had in the past 7 years... Within one week, 8 out of 10 of my fingers' polish has chipped dramatically with two of them barely having even have the polish left. Looked great walking out, and the staff was all super nice, so happy to give the two stars for that. But unfortunately, I went for a nice "treat myself" nail day and was so, so disappointed to only enjoyed it for a few days. Ps. I don't do anything rough with my hands to have caused these issues. I work on a laptop all day and that's about it. Never have had any issues close to this, even when I was doing more than computer work with my hands. read more

Alright, this place lived up to all of its hyped loveliness. No chemical smell, everything was squeaky clean, and the space was beautiful. I appreciate the time and effort that went into the hygienic design choices (such as choosing foot baths without jets, which can breed bacteria). My nail technician, Vanessa, was great. Miniluxe only have their store brand for polish, but the gels are OPI. Manicure and pedicure both look pretty perfect (I'll update the review if they wear off unexpectedly early). It was a great experience. I'd go all the time if it wasn't so expensive. read more

Overpriced and did a terrible job! I paid $65 for one of the worst manicures I've ever had. In addition to the poor paint job, my cuticles were done very poorly and were not even soaked in water before she started cutting them. It is 2 days later and they are already starting to chip. Okay experience, might be biased though because I've been to other MiniLuxes and I'm always like meh. Came for the signature manicure since I had a complimentary mani for opening month. The space is gorgeous and extremely clean. They have a lovely assortment of colors not just reds and pinks, and my nail technician put a lot of attention to detail during the mani. What I didn't like was when I arrived, I didn't feel extremely welcomed as the receptionist looked at me funny when I asked where to put my stuff down. Granted, I went to their other location on Newbury by accident and rushed here so I probably looked a little crazy. Also, even though music was playing, there was a silent awkward tension in the room; definitely not relaxing. My nail technician was quieter and a little awkward and I felt bad I couldn't understand her. Since I was a bit late I felt a little rushed trying to choose a color since she stood there staring at me nut then eventually sat down. I also noticed some people wear gloves which I would have preferred and I saw another technician Kristie who seemed friendlier, helped her client choose a color, asked questions and just seemed much more helpful. Cute space, and definitely clean, but I'd rather save a few more dollars elsewhere. On my way out I said thanks to the receptionist and she just kind of stared at me too...awk. read more

Just had an awful experience here! I booked appointments almost 2 months ago for my friend and I. It's the day of her bachelorette party and I took her out for a day of pampering. They were aware of this, and did not accommodate us at all, and really impacted the whole day. We ended up having to go to another nail salon that was not the experience we were hoping for. We arrived on time and I explained I had gel on, she had dip. I asked to be soaked while we had our pedicures, which is more than enough time to soak and easily remove gel or dip. The girl at the front desk was RUDE and very clearly put out by my request to take nail polsih off, at a nail salon. She told me that the bride wouldn't be able to have hers taken off at all, so she could only get a pedicure. I tried explaining that she was the guest of honor that day, so I really wanted to make sure she had a manicure, they didn't care. She said she had to go "check with the technician" and she was going to give us a moment to talk about it. She came back and we asked if my friend could at least TRY soaking while we had our pedicures, and take the nail polish off herself because it was very clear when she came back that she or anyone else had any intention of accommodating us. She still said no!!! She said there wouldn't be enough time even though we were asking to soak while we were getting our pedicures-we were going to be there anyway and no more time would have been taken up-especially since the customer service was so bad we had to beg for the bride to take her own nail polish off. The only who would have been put out was the bride herself. Then she has to audacity to condescend my friend and tell her that she would not be able to get the nail polish off-even though my friend has done it at home countless time and managed just fine. "Trust me, you won't be able to get it off" in a nail salon, where they have acetone and files, like what?? I think we could have managed, even though we shouldn't have had to. We left after that. Such TERRIBLE customer service and I'm so disappointed as this was supposed to be a nice day for my friend. EDIT: Just wanted to add that they also charged my card $62.00!!! NEVER go here! read more

Then the "hosts" basically tell me nothing can be done. Will not be using my gift card because I am done with this place. Went here once and loved it. Absolutely so impressed.its a 48 dollar gel manicure, and the quality was great. However the past two times I went, within a week my gels chipped. That is frustrating - for example in the attached photo....I got these done 5 days ago - a gel should be lasting at least 1.5 to 2 weeks - especially a 48 dollar one. I was a believer after my first time here and I wanted to keep giving it the benefit of the doubt but I could get this for half the price somewhere else if it's gonna just chip after a week. read more

Everyone's really friendly and accommodating and their booking system is super convenient. I go to Carolina specifically and she is by far the best technician I've ever visited. She is always very friendly and helpful; it is always a pleasure to go see her. I also appreciate that this salon really cares about the hygienic aspect of things! I have had a mixed experience at this MiniLuxe, but it is definitely the best one of the few I have gone to. I come here every other week to get a gel manicure during lunch, because I have terrible nails and am trying to help protect them. Lately, I have noticed that the gel isn't lasting very long, and although I love how quick it is, the nail technicians are doing less and less "pampering" of my nails. Recently, despite my request, they didn't even attempt to touch up my cuticles at all. I keep coming back because it is super close to my office, but I am hoping they make some changes soon. For the price tag, the gel definitely does not meet the mark. I typically have to ask for a third coat because the color is so thin, and it either completely peels or chips off within the first week. The service is always fantastic, though, which is what keeps this a 3-star for me. The front desk is incredibly helpful and the technicians typically listen to your special requests. read more

I was excited to have my wedding nails done here- it's so cute and everyone is very professional. Initially my experience was wonderful with the sweetest woman who spent forever on my gel extensions shaping them to perfection. I loved the color and the way they looked- I left a large tip. I had them done Tuesday for a Saturday wedding (up in Vermont) and on Wednesday they started falling off! I was totally blown away as gel extensions are usually bomb proof and require power tools to remove- I was also really bummed out because I was already up in Vermont and it was too far to come for a fix. I tried to have them fixed up there but was told I would just have to glue them myself. By the time my wedding day rolled around all the nails had fallen off my left hand! I called the studio several times and didn't hear back about what to do- after the wedding I called a few times and left a message with no response. I've heard and seen mixed reviews about MiniLuxe but with the pandemic going on they were the one place I walked into that were taking serious measures for people's health and safety. As soon as you walk in they take your temperature and offer your hand sanitizer. All the staff had gloves, face mask and face shields on. Stations were sanitized regularly before and after every client. I only got a pedicure done which was much needed after six months. Not sure how the polish will turn out or how long but for now I 100% recommend coming here. This location is also a hidden gem not many people not about the second location on Newbury St. It's located in the less populated section of the street which I like. read more

This location totally lives up to their clean credo (seriously no funky smells here), staff is friendly and booking appointments online is a total breeze! I've never had a bad mani or pedi by any of their technicians but Carolina is the real stand out! I was hesitant to write this review because it's hard enough as it is to get an appointment with her. Came in for manicure/pedicure and wax. Initially thought the wax was good until I left and noticed that my skin was peeling off. The wax was not hot and it did not hurt which is why I didn't notice while I was there. I've gotten waxed many times with different brand and types of wax and NEVER had this problem before. In addition, my gel manicure/pedicure appointment was messed up bc of a glitch on their online system and they expected me to wait 2 hours before getting a manicure/pedicure and wouldn't accommodate sooner. read more

The first time I came to visit, I wasn't impressed by manicure but I figured it was first month jitters. Plus the manicure was complementary, so no need to complain. This most recent visit, I decided on a performance manicure/signature pedicure. Within half a day, my nail polish already began flaking/chipping. Receiving complimentary tea isn't worth the high premium for getting your nails done. Needless to say, I won't be coming across the street anymore to get my nails done. Typically I love miniluxe, I tend to go out of my way to go to the Newbury St. location because they do such a great job! So when I wanted healthy gel extensions for my birthday, I thought this would be my go to spot! However, after paying $100 for this manicure just one week ago (9/11/23), one nail has already come off and another was very close to falling off just 4 days later (9/15/23). I had to take extra time to go and have it fixed at a different miniluxe location and then just 3 days later (9/18/23), another different nail has also come off. While there is no fee for an extension repair, it is very annoying to make more nail appointments to fix a manicure that is supposedly going to last between 2-3 weeks if not longer. Additionally, you should tip the nail technician for taking the time to fix it, so this manicure is costing more than $100 and lots of lost time. I would have been better off getting a regular manicure no gel, because at least I'd get 4 days of clean manicured nails and not have wasted so much of my time. read more

I visited this MiniLuxe location this morning for their opening weekend, and it was a lovely experience. Their standards and cleanliness were on par with other MiniLuxe locations, so it is nice to know no matter which one you visit, they still have such a high standard. I prefer this location now compared to their other Newbury Street location; the space seemed a lot more open and the women working at 31 Newbury Street were a lot nicer. A signature manicure is $20 (free during their opening weekend!) but I decided to get the Dazzle Dry manicure (normally $30 but only $10 because of the opening weekend special). It dries completely in five minutes and lasts as long as gel. I got the Dazzle Dry polish the manicure prior to the one I have now, and it lasted for two and a half weeks! I would definitely recommend it, worth the price for sure. Everyone working here - the manager, receptionist and my nail technician - were so friendly and stylish, too!
