As a soon to be dad, I love that Mini Jake has important items babies need to eat, sleep, and travel, but also cute additional stuff for playtime. Their section with strollers is helpful to compare and test different strollers and car seats, which is great to get a first hand experience of any stroller research done online. A kind gentleman named Dave was there during my visit and he patiently answered all my questions. (Thanks Dave!). Having found the stroller I needed for the baby, I found some cool adorable art books I never knew existed. It's nice to come here for baby basics and then leave with new ideas. read more

As a new parent, there are so many things that get thrown at you as far as what you need to do, what you need to buy, etc. Not knowing what our needs would actually be, my wife and I purchased a number of things just to have them on hand when our daughter was born. We bought this mid-level priced stroller that was one of the recommendations on Babylist as it seemed to be good for what we thought we would need. After a couple weeks of use, we realized what we actually needed, so the hunt for a second stroller began. Some online sleuthing led us to Mini Jake as they have a large selection of strollers in house to try out. We were considering one brand after doing research online, but after seeing the various options in person, we were convinced to get a different brand based on our needs. Shout out to Dave, the person who helped us by walking us through all the options. He was patient and didn't make me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about or try to push me in a certain direction (like some sales people can do). Had a great experience here. After visiting a few other baby/kid stores in the area, this is my favorite one. read more

I've lived in the Williamsburg area for the past 8 years and Mini Jake has been a neighborhood staple where I've found gifts for my friend's kids and now for my own toddler. I remember walking in here in 2017 in panic mode because my husband and I had NO idea what stroller to buy and Rachel (will never forget her! so kind!) walked us through pretty much ALL the strollers for 2 hours. We didn't end up making our stroller purchase at that moment but left feeling really educated. I really appreciated the attentive service until the very end although we didn't immediately make our purchase. We did end up purchasing our babyzen yoyo here as well as our baby carrier, several toys, clothes, shoes, etc. over the years and I can't thank the staff and owner of the store more. I was able to walk out of the store knowing how to open and close the stroller (the wonderful employee even had me "practice" while she watched so I knew how to do it exactly) and off I went feeling confident and happy. Their prices are competitive and I feel great supporting a neighborhood spot vs amazon even if it is a bit more $. I also love that they have open toys on display that the kids are welcome to play with (like their awesome train set) that will keep my 2 year old toddler entertained while I shop. Thanks Mini Jake!! Best place to shop for kids age 0 to 12 if you want personal attention, a vast selection, and great prices. Yes, these prices compete with online prices and they have something for everyone from your cousins in south Florida to your hipster friend afraid of plastic. Mom & Pop got it goin' on, and I always shop on holidays cause they will have a sale on EVERYTHING!!! Love those guys. My friends keep having babies and I keep having to buy shower gifts and birthday gifts. Thank goodness Mini Jake has those cute animal hooded towels and lots of great infant toys and Brooklyn themed onesies. They even have these onesies folded into the shape of cupcakes and lollipops. So fun. I overheard the staff telling another customer that one of their crib lines uses sustainably harvested wood and I think that is amazing. They also have this whole section in the back with strollers floor models - it looks like a stroller corral! Anyhoo - if you need a shower or birthday gift, this place slays. read more

The only reason this place is in business is because they are currently the only children's store in the neighborhood. Honestly, I'm not sure why I keep coming back. They never have anything practical, unless you count the $3,000 cribs. If they magically carry something you need then they are always out of stock. Then when they have stock it's buried in a chaos of merchandise in the "back" that it takes them forever to find it, if at all. On top of that, only a couple of the employees are remotely helpful. No thanks, sadly it's more convenient to just go into Manhattan. Please someone open a half decent store and put these jokers out of business. read more

Such a great shop! This was always my go-to for beautiful and unique gifts for the children and babies in my life. Since I had my own baby, I've gained a newfound appreciation of the range of selection at the store, as well as the amazing staff. When I had an issue with my stroller, one of their team members got down on the ground and fixed it for me - above and beyond! I went into this place reading a few yelp reviews about how they only look for the prime targets of the moms-to-be and I admittedly felt that because as I guy, I definitely was not helped. However, my wife who is a mom-to-be was fawned over. I was left to my own devices. Babies can be stylish too. Calling all new age, hipster, artsy and intellectual mums and pops to be. Mini Jake is your one stop shop for all your baby needs: cribs, high chairs, bedding, toys, room decor, etc. But it's no Babies R Us. Mini Jake is where you go if you are anti Laura Ashley and Gymboree. The selection at this "modern children's store" is uber cool and very functional. And the store is packed to the brim. The best way to describe the things at Mini Jake would be indie, eco loving, and smart. I knew Mini Jake would be awesome when I saw the makeshift robot created out of styrofoam and bubble wrap sitting outside. Inside, there is tons of fun robot stuff (kinda retro). They also have beautiful bedding from Dwell Baby and Nurseryworks. Some of the bedding selection is organic and if you are totally clueless as to what patterns complement your home or what kind of furniture style to get, the guys here will help you out. I listened as one guy gave advice to a couple and he sure knew his stuff. There are a bunch of toys available with an educational twist. In the front of the store aside from the toys are also high chairs of the future. The high chairs here make it seem like your child is sitting in an architectural feat rather than a safety chair. Mini Jake is definitely a niche store. If your home is lofty or modern, Mini Jake would be the perfect store to shop in for your child. If you are looking for a present, it's excellent. And don't worry: Mini Jake begins with babies and has things for toddlers and kiddies all the way through their early years. I'd draw the line at 8 year olds though. By that age you could move them into PB Teen or something. read more

This store has been here since before being a hip Williamsburg parent was a thing. I always love to shop here when I am looking for a gift. The prices are bit high to stock up on baby gear but the toys and clothes are great as presents. I also used to buy HABA products when my son was little he loved them. Hard to find in stores so it is great. The prices are high but this is Williamsburg and it is part of the parenting world here so it has a market. Fantastic store for all your child care needs, and/or amazing gifts. I purchased a stroller from Mini Jake, and the staff were extremely accommodating after it wouldn't fit through my front gate. I ended up buying a different stroller from them and couldn't be happier. The selection of strollers is great (and most of them are in stock so you can take it that day!), and they have some really wonderful toys and accessories for kids of all ages. This is a store that is actually BETTER THAN AMAZON, so I highly recommend getting off the computer and visiting Mini Jake for great service and everything you could need for baby! read more

I have two nephews and a niece, all 3 and under, and no children of my own, so I'm in full-on aunt spoilage mode these days. Mini Jake is my spoilage enabler. They have a bit of everything, and what's there is very well curated: books, toys, stuffed animals (they have so much variety of Jellycat stuffed animals, as well as some special puppets and handmade animals that are super cute), baby necessities like bottles and cribs and things (I don't pay as much attention to those tbh), blankets and muslins and bibs, etc. I usually come away with a huge bag of books, stuffed animals, and at least one set of little animal-themed plates/bowls/cups/cutlery. I'm sure for any one of these categories you could find a dedicated store with more selection, but having such a GOOD selection of each in the same store is really invaluable. They also have a lot of natural toys (in addition to staples like Lego and the little piano crocodile) and ones for various developmental ages. read more

This is one of my favorite baby stores. They pretty much have everything. They have a great assortment of gear like choice car seats and strollers. The owner (I think he is the owner) is always there to help and demo the gear. The prices are reasonable. So you don't have to feel like you are better off buying stuff on the Internet. I think it's as close to a "one stop shop" as it gets for Greenpoint, especially for those looking to gear up on children furniture, crib, blankets, bottles, strollers, and toys. I have no idea why people like this store. I came in on a Sunday afternoon looking for help finding a stroller for my upcoming first child. It was a terrible mess. Looked like they were having a sample sale but totally not. I was by the stroller section for 20 minutes helping myself before someone came over. They asked me if I needed help and I said yes but had to leave soon. No one helped. It was so bizarre. I expected a lot more from a boutique. Update to my earlier review and everyone who was let down by reneged delivery dates: After MiniJakes blaming Argington for the nursery furniture's delay (which was never disclosed to us the three times we conferenced with them over several months to decide when to place our order), charging the card ahead of shipping, after they pushed the delivery date back months (way past the baby's arrival date), after they went back and forth about offering a floor model crib or a trade show crib that was and then wasn't available, and giving us a snide remark when we said forget it and refund our CC ("I just hope you find what you're looking for"), we located EVERYTHING on Amazon at a comparable price, ordered it, and it arrived ahead of MiniJake's original, now defunct, promise of delivery. Even better, as we unpacked the furniture, we just couldn't help but notice that the distributor of this furniture had an address on MEEKER AVENUE. That's right, just a bunt away from Mini Jake in the first place. Oh, the irony. My family and I are very disappointed because we might have got the Monte chair from this place but were so disappointed about their lack of accountability that I'm just not sure we'll bother going in here ever again. read more

Mini Jake is the greatest children's store in NYC!!! They have an eclectic and eccentric variety of toys, books, clothes, books, furniture, strollers, car seats... absolutely everything. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful, especially the curly haired woman! She never fails to make a great recommendation by listening to what I want and need and always comes through, whether it's for a new stroller or just a quick birthday party gift. I live in a walk up with two toddlers so I had very specific stroller needs, she seems to know the ins and outs of every item in that store and was so patient and kind when helping me find what I needed. They also do gift wrapping which is super convenient and always cute. Sometimes when we're strolling by we just stop to say hey to the staff and hang out, that's how comfortable it is in there. I love this store! Their selection is very cool and they have great customer service. I went in for the first time when I was 5 months pregnant and completely overwhelmed with the registering process (a simple search for bottles on target.com returned over 300 options!). Margot Hughes is amazing, ask for her when you go in. She walked me through all of the product categories and explained the pros and cons of all of the items. She was incredibly patient and knowledgeable and helped me find the right products in my price range. She did not pressure me to start my registry or purchase anything right away. I appreciated her low key nature and after further research and price comparisons with other stores, I created a registry at mini jake online. I compared their pricing with that of other boutiques in brooklyn and the major big box retailers and found their pricing on par with everyone else's for the items they all carried. I definitely recommend this store! My only request is that they offer more of the clothes for sale online. read more

Okay folks--- BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! I came into the store yesterday looking for a toy I knew they carried the OGO-- a ball/disc bouncing cool toy--and found sadly that the model of the toy I wanted was back-ordered though late spring. When I explained my predicament--buying a specific toy for my husband's boss to bring over seas, which had to be packed the next day. The owner said she would see if they had one anywhere and would call me to let me know. Well... an hour later (maybe even less) she had called the distributor who had one set--who brought it to the owner's home that evening, they had it for me in the store, next day! Voila! Lo and behold, today, I came in and purchased this great toy and brought it to my husband--who delivered it to his boss--and off it goes to Ireland! Thank you Minijake! This is the perfect cool-aunty store. I don't have kids, but when I want an unusual, designy gift for one of the little ones in my life, this is the place to go. The staff is very helpful and when I stupidly bought something age inappropriate for my niece, they were sweet about returning it for something else. They have beautiful high chairs, unlike anything I've ever seen before, and Dwell crib linens. This isn't the generic stuff you find at Babys-R-Us--way more high-design. I've bought "green" toys and very cute, hand-crafted clothing and plan on buying all my baby gifts here. It can get pretty pricey, but there's definitely something there for every budget. read more

I was looking for a set of better quality twin mattresses. Everyone I spoke to at Mini Jake was no pressure and happy to volunteer why they'd chosen [X] for their own children. The mattresses were delivered the same day at a fair price. Versus the quagmire that is online mattress shopping, or dealing with one of the very sales oriented mattress chains this experience was awesome. I'll preface this by saying I've never bought anything there. I go there to scout out strollers and cribs and see them in person -- then I find them online for cheaper. As some mentioned the customer service is hit or miss -- only once has someone asked to help and she did a great stroller demo (but I'm fine being left alone so this didn't turn me off).
