Mu husband and I visited for our first baby shopping trip - first time looking at strollers, baby carrier, cribs etc. With 2 minutes of being in the store, the owner, Dave, approached us to ask if we wanted help with strollers. Oh. My. Gosh. What a help he was!!! He took so much time to walk us through all of the ins and outs for the 2 strollers we had been eying. When we finished that process, he referred us to the in house baby carrier expert (I forget her name) who helped us try on multiple baby carriers and discussed all of the pros and cons for each. We were considering doing a full registry on Amazon but after this experience, have decided to move big ticket registry items over to Mini Jake. This kind of service is hard to come by! read more

It's stores like this that always make me want to be a part of yelp, and now I finally am! This store offers many things other stores don't. First, and most importantly, there are numerous floor samples. Shopping online is easy, but when shopping for a nursery, I wanted to see items in person. Plus, their staff is super knowledgeable. A few blocks from the L train, I get to shop and support local, the size of the store offers variety that small boutiques don't, and I can still shop online to get those small things I keep forgetting as a first time dad. read more

I knew Mini Jake would be awesome when I saw the makeshift robot created out of styrofoam and bubble wrap sitting outside. Inside, there is tons of fun robot stuff (kinda retro). They also have beautiful bedding from Dwell Baby and Nurseryworks. Some of the bedding selection is organic and if you are totally clueless as to what patterns complement your home or what kind of furniture style to get, the guys here will help you out. Not interested in your business. It's Williamsburg, I understand, nobody gives much sh-t about customer service. But at least acknowledge the customer and don't be an a-hole when a customer asks you a question. First off, disorganized - stuff interspersed all over the place and looks worn and dirty. Second off, am assuming intently staring forward or at your computer is much more appealing than making a sale or actually doing a customer service. We asked one question about a general topic and got a frustrated, aggravated and pissed off response. Instead of being a true sales person and actually taking as to the product and maybe explaining a bit, the main ahole of a man - owner? manager? sales person? who knows....just barked at us. Well, am going to the large, organized store (very possibly Buy Buy Baby or Babies'R'Us) as am a new parent to be and may actually require assistance and education. I live in Williamsburg - places come and go like the rain. I hope the that same fate befalls this store and their employers/owners. (oh and overpriced btw) read more

Great selection and great people. Bought crib and bed from them and had delivered to our home out of state. Price was best I found online (and far less than some online competitors), and the order was processed/crib delivered in no time. Very knowledgable staff who will patiently work with you - which is a big plus when you are a first time parent to be. read more

Wow, after not shopping here for about 2 years, I was nearby and needed a gift so I thought I would pop in. The selection of toys is great. But, they continue to ignore the little man making an average to small purchase and only focus on people with a stroller, bed, gear, etc. purchase. I am sure their strategy pays off and they get big sales, but I am over this place. read more

went with my husband to look at strollers today. sharice, one of salespersons, was incredibly helpful, showing us several models and answering all of our questions with patience and a smile. she probably spent close to an hour with us. fairly good selection of strollers (15-20 models) and other baby gear, and felt great supporting a local business. read more

Had a great experience buying a stroller today. Rachel was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. She demonstrated several strollers and all the features. She lets us "discuss" before we made our decision. She provided great customer service without being pushy. She really knew the products too. The selection was appropriate to city living. Loved the great book and toy section. This were unique and not something you see everywhere else. They put the stroller together free of charge-all we had to do is wheel it out of the store. read more

Great products, stylish merchandise. They have a curated selection of very cute baby products and high-end strollers. However, the owner is not very helpful at all and acts like you are annoying him when you ask simple questions. I would rather support independent local businesses but its hard to like the attitude here. read more

This place seems to generate a lot of extreme reviews so maybe they have good days and bad days...but our experience was negative over the course of several interactions, both in person and over the phone. We wanted to buy local so we put items from Minijake on our baby registry. Big mistake, as we found out. Customer service rude and unhelpful, for us AND friends who we sent to Minijake. They gave us a hard time exchanging stuff that we got extras of, and forget trying to exchange gifts that people bought off the registry. If you're into disorganized and patronizing sales people this is the place for you. If not, go w Giggle because at least you'll get what you need on time and can exchange it without any hassle. read more

The staff here was extremely helpful and patient with us and took the time to answer all our questions. The guy who helped us steered us towards the right stroller which wound up being a lot less expensive than the one we were originally looking at and he put it together for us so that we could wheel it out of there. The store did get quite busy while we were there (it was a Saturday) and they have a small staff for a store this size so I can see how some people might get frustrated while waiting for a salesperson (hence the mixed reviews here) but they are well worth checking out. A much better choice than the big boxes. read more

The store is nice, the sales people are nice, the products in the store look great BUT their delivery management and staffing (at least when it comes to Dwell furniture) is terrible. We ordered a changing table cover, toddler conversion kit, crib and dresser. We were told it was all usually in stock and that it would likely arrive before the usual wait time. Not so. And when it came we found: the toddler kit came with no screws, the crib was missing screws, the dresser had a chip in it and the changing table cover is on back order. So basically, after paying for white glove service, there is an issue with EVERY piece we ordered. Still waiting to get it all resolved and hopefully before the baby comes. All I want to do is wash the baby's linens and clothes and have something to out them on/in. It is really frustrating. I really hope they come through. read more

Mini Jake's is a great one stop shopping place for grown-ups with kids in their life. Their goods are so carefully chosen I feel like they do all the work for me. I stopped in today and found a gift for a newborn, as well as birthday toys for a 4 year old/ and 8 year old, and a book for a budding scientist. I stop by regularly to see whats new and what's on sale. Definitely a gem in the neighborhood. read more

i have been here multiple times for the reason that is close to my home, but i regret it every time. the customer service is horrible. they project the vibe that it is a bother to ring you up for items you would like to purchase, i stood at the counter with a single item in my hand and a wiggling frustrated baby in a carrier for over 5 minutes while the guy said, hold on a minute, I'm just checking on something... and then ignored me. last time i was there i asked if they could help me with the shoes as i didn't see the type on the display in the piles of random boxes (and i had my child with me) and they guy just said he didn't know if they had the size i was looking for and started stacking the boxes randomly under a shelving unit where i couldn't see them. i asked if there was a place i could nurse the baby in private and they said no, but i could sit in the display chairs in the center of the room... um no thanks. the bathroom has a sign that says carry your dirty diapers out with you... are they too cheap to put a diaper genie in their bathroom?! ugh. i swear i have never written a bad review of a place but i have just gotten so frustrated numerous times there! read more

As a new mother, I found myself faced with stroller-making decisions. Choosing a stroller had been the metaphor for my new inability to make any decisions. When I went to Mini-Jake, even by the sixth time, I was welcomed by warm individuals who patiently answered my questions and allowed me to process the information without feeling guilty for not buying anything right then. I eventually did buy a stroller, and I have returned several times to buy baby blankets, storage items, and feeding accessories. I love the knowledgeable staff and always feel comfortable visiting the store. Another wonderful feature of the store is the ability to nurse or change the baby when an emergency strikes. I love Mini-Jake and highly recommend this store for new parents or expecting parents who have endless questions and concerns. This is also a wonderful place to purchase baby gifts for friends. As a minimalist, this is a great local store to purchase high-quality, functional items without the snob factor.
