When I lived in Park Slope as a teenager I went to Little Things Toy Store at least once a month (usually when I picked up my comic books at the shop that used to be on 9th street and 7th avenue). The location I remember was about a block or so away from its current location (though I believe that was technically the OG "Little Things Too") and I always enjoyed checking out what action figures they had in stock. In this new location the shop is on a corner and it is still very welcoming. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Park Slope architecture but the shop just looks "right" to me for a toy store with toys showing in the window and an entrance that lets you see inside, hinting at the toys inside. All that said, this location is now focused heavily on toys for younger kids with very little aimed at a older collectors such as myself - and that's fine. Right across the street is Little Things Too which caters to a far wider audience. This shop is a great place to get toys for pre-schoolers to kids maybe around 5-6 years old. Beyond that I would visit the branch across the street. The prices seem very standard for what they're selling and not being a giant store like Target or Walmart. I purchased a couple Safari Ltd. Good Luck Mini animal and it was only a few bucks so not bad at all. The lady at check out was very nice and I had no issues with the service. What an amazing store with an amazing team. My wife and I were with my son and grandchildren looking for a birthday gift. OMG... this place has an unlimited supply of toys, stuffed animals, toy trucks, games and anything else you can think of. This place clearly reminded me of where I would go when I was growing up. No Toys R Us, Target or Wall Mart. You went to the Toy Store for a toy. My four year old grandchild was going to party and knew exactly what she wanted to get the birthday girl. Her mom had to modify the size of the stuffed toy but thanks to their amazing selection there was plenty to choose from. Once they got on line (and I'm happy to say that there was big check out line) they moved pretty quickly and finally paid. Following the cashier was gift wrapper. You would hand her the item and just a few minutes later appeared a perfectly wrapped present. I feel compelled to say that I do not understand the negative reviews. Of the toy stores in Brooklyn, they definitely have one of the largest supplies of toys in all age ranges. They have two stores right across the street from one another. The larger location on the west side of 7th Ave is for older kids. It contains Lego sets, Scooters, dolls, etc. The smaller corner store on the east side of the street is supposed to be for smaller children (infants) but also contains some toys for older children. I stopped in on a weekday to find a toy for my son who is teething. I was looking for anything that might fit in a baby's mouth and maybe rattled. I first went to the shop on the west side and was searching the shelves for maybe 5 minutes or so before I ran into someone busily putting away items. They were quite busy organizing so I got only a quick reply as to where infant (3-12month old) toys would be. I crossed the street and went into the other location where the lady at the front, when I described what I was looking for, broadly gestured throughout the store. I didn't think much of it until someone else came in, asked a question and the worker personally showed them specific toys that were age specific but also spread throughout the store. I did end up buying some chime silicon balls that had a variety of textures. Why 3 stars? Well... the toy selection is good but not as organized as they would make it seem. Nice little toy store on the corner. All we wanted to do is walk back to our place after a nice supper nearby, and came upon this store. With 5 kids along, we were drawn to window shop.... which became entering the shop, with double assurance from all kids we were "just looking." But who can be on vacation, walking Brooklyn neighborhoods, come across a great local toy store like this, and "just look!?!?" Alas, we bought.... but thankfully they had $0.69 mini rubber animal figurines, so we left with an elastic menagerie, happy kids, happy wallet, happy family! read more

After many years have gone by and shopping here for nieces and nephews and now my own children one thing that hasn't changed is the rude behavior of the employees/owners. I left parkslope 2 years ago and I still come back to support local stores but I can't vouch for this one anymore. They don't appreciate the business you give. They are always bothered I always given them the benefit of the doubt. I have told my self maybe because I came in with a kid. Maybe they are having a bad day but I can't give them excuses every time. Very nasty! Rude!! Unappreciative humans! Idk what else to call it but they don't deserve $1 support in here. I guess Amazon is making it for a reason... I was in on Monday I bought two presents for my nephew I didn't spend more then 10 minutes in the store. This is an amazingly well-stocked toy story with a lot of variety. I found the owner and store employees very helpful. The sales person who I talked with was committed to helping me, a person who was very direct but there was no rudeness. Rude staff. Been going here since I was a little kid in the 90s and popped in with my sister to look around as they've moved/expanded. I am trying to hard to support local business, but some places don't make it easy. I call for some items and asked if they have local delivery. The lady seemed frustrated with the question and said that they can deliver by 6:30 that night. Great. Now I ask if she can send a pic of some scooter bells so that I can select one. She says that is "virtually impossible because we have over 70. You can come in and look at them." What the heck?! I just asked about local delivery and she asks me to come in? So strange. This is a wonderful small shop that brings me back to the days where the local toy store was the only place you would go for your game coveting needs. They carry a great selection of items, and unlike other stores in the Park Slope area, have the simple things that kids actually like, as opposed to the uber-designed pseudo-intelligent toys that parents think their kids should be playing with to get them into the Ivy Leagues. Case in point, during the recent intolerable heat wave, I wanted to get a wading pool without needing to trek to a huge store or online. The toy store that doesn't like kids. They're so unfriendly, especially the young(ish) guy who works there. Honestly, the employees seem irked when I walk in with my well-behaved six-year old and when others bring in toddlers. Over six years I have bought SO many things in this over-priced store only because they're conveniently close to me. As other reviews have already mentioned the staff here is insanely rude, to the point where it's just uncomfortable. There have been several times I have walked into an empty store, perused for a while, and made a purchase without anyone saying a word to me other than "do you want a receipt?" No greeting, no offer to help me find anything, no thank you or goodbye when I leave. One lady in particular (close-cropped hair) is particularly unfriendly and always has the most sour expression on her face. It's really a shame because a neighborhood toy store should be a fun and welcoming place. Had an odd experience here about 2 weeks ago, I'm only writing this because it is still sitting with me. Before Christmas I had picked up a few small toys, one of them being a small wooden animal puzzle for toddlers that happened to be on sale. All the boxes of this particular puzzle were on sale, it was not an "as is" markdown or anything. I thought it was pretty cute so I got it and wrapped it up for the holidays. Christmas morning we opened up the gifts and decided to show our little one how the puzzle fit together but the pieces inside the box were mixed up, it had duplicates of 2 animals and was missing 2, everything was still in original packaging so it was a manufacturers mistake. No big deal, we decided to see if we could go back and exchange it the day after Christmas for another one so we'd have all the right pieces. When I brought the puzzle back to the store I explained the scenario to the woman at the register. But another lady, a manager I'm assuming, swooped in and aggressivly snatched the box from my hand. She pointed at the sale sticker on the box and said in a horrible tone, "Did no one explain to you that this was on sale?". This is where it got odd - what does a puzzle being on sale (I"m talking 4 bucks off not rock bottom pricing here) have to do with pieces being mixed up? Was I supposed to assume that a sale-price puzzle would be defective? Is she in the business of selling incorrect puzzles? The tone very strangely accusatory and she questioned me as if I was trying to trick her somehow or like I was up to something. Very off-putting. My husband grew up around the corner from this place and said he's never been treated like this here in his entire life. After finally getting her to realize that it was a manufacturer error she then proceeded to go find more of the same puzzle from the wall (they still had a bunch left and all still at the same sale price that I paid) saying that they must all be like this. I said that if that were the case anyone who had bought the puzzles would have brought it back, because a puzzle without the right pieces isn't a keeper. She was no longer listening to me, she was just going through multiple puzzle boxes like she was on some mission to prove me wrong. When she realized the other boxes seemed to all be correct she acted like it pained her to make the exchange for me. I asked if we could confirm all of the animal shapes were in the new box before we left and she fake checked the box - didn't really look just glanced in and said yep. The animal pieces were in little brown bags so she wouldn't have actually been able to tell unless she opened the little bags. The whole thing was so odd and we felt so put-off that we left and checked the pieces outside. If anything had been missing again I would have gone back only if I saw someone else was working. There was no apology for the inconvenience, or thanks for being a customer, nothing. Really crummy experience and I don't appreciated being treated like I was trying to scam her out of some puzzle pieces. I want to support small businesses but this is not the way to attract customers. read more

By all means go here if you want to be lectured by the manager (a woman either manager or owner), and if you want to pay 1/3 or 1/2 price OVER what you pay on Amazon for the EXACT same item. I am all about supporting local businesses but ask yourself why? For one, it is the hello Peter how is the family etc etc. I must have spent some 3000k in this store and the sister store and the manager owner woman still acts like she has never seen me before - it is all about the transaction .. pay how are you paying and do you want it in a bag. Go to place for toys in Park Slope. At any birthday party you go to in Park Slope you will see piles of presents with their signature purple wrapping paper. That's a testimonial of how dependable they are for good gifts. There is a heavy emphasis on educational and craft toys, but they still have a decent selection of Barbies and Tonka trucks. read more

WHY NO STARS! I want to give this place NO stars! Absolutely the worst salespeople on the avenue, i rather fight Target traffic then be afflicted or subject my children to the rudest of rude who can't do anything but talk to each other about their weekend plans or looking at their cellphones every 5 secs. And on top of that the store always seems to be 100 degrees. I live in the neighborhood. and I've always shopped here since I was a little girl now that am in my 20s and visiting my parents. I wanted to go in for old-time sake and I now realize how bad customer service is I never really noticed when I was younger. but I do now. I just assumed they were having a bad day. so I left and at the end of the visit I called them asking what type of fidgets they have, for my 7-year-old niece and she said we have two many. you have to come in and look. and I was calling because my niece requested a few types. I asked her if she had pop its, a Rubix cube, and, squishy and she said like I said before you have to come in and look. and since I did promise my niece I would get her something it was nearby so I went. I look at the fidget and she has barely any only certain types and the Rubix cube was sitting right on top of the front desk where you check out! right in front of her eyes.
