Ming's has had a new face lift making it look more modern from the outside. I order takeout that can be picked up at a drive through window. It is important to order 15 to 20 minutes before you pick up or you will have to sit and wait. The last time I came I was disappointed in the quality of the food, but this time the food quality was spot on. I ordered my all time favorites: an egg roll, hot and sour soup, and shredded beef Szechuan style with steamed rice. I love the rice because it is sticky enough to eat with chop sticks. Found out that you can order your food online on their website.. that's nice because if you go in drive thru or in restaurant, you'll end up waiting quite a while. Our food was hot and nice portions and not outrageously priced. I did get an order of the lo mein noodles that were a complete let down. Overcooked and mushy, but their chicken fried rice is delightful. read more

This place is always busy at lunch and for good reason. It has the absolute best Chinese food for the price that I have ever seen. My favorite dishes are the bourbon chicken, jalapeño chicken and the fried calamari. For something completely different, try the combination curry fried rice. It's plenty of food for two people and is loaded with heat and flavor. If you don't like the wait times there are plenty of mediocre restaurants than can get you in and out quickly, but remember there is a reason this place stays busy during peak hours. read more

I must say the service was spot on. Very helpful and rather patient workers. I came in hungry and with a goal of being filled up with something very tasty. I was not disappointed! This little local Chinese spot gave me a filling of satisfaction. I was greeted by a little Asian child who opened the door for me. First impressions are always great to have. You can tell this is a family and friend establishment. It felt very inviting when you walked in. I didnt know what i wanted as always when I go to a restaurant. I simply go in with no expectations, I go in with only one goal and thats the desire to eat. I was greeted by a staff of what looked like guys from a tattoo shop and a cool chick. I'd say more of a 2.5, at least for what I ordered. Order at the front and it's brought to you table. Food came out quickly. There is also a steam tray you can order from. Other orders are supposed to be cooked to order. My Orange Beef taste and texture was like it came from a steam table. The breading had zero crisp and was just - well - like buffet food. So I feel like I've been here enough times to have formulated a concrete opinion about how I feel about Mings: I love it. I would say I've been through the drive through (never been inside) a total of four times, and each time I've gotten the same thing. The first time I ordered pad thai (#47) with shrimp, because I'm always looking for a decent pad Thai dish in Tyler. After that, it was so good that each time I went through I ordered it again. Also, the portion sizes are HUGE! It doesn't matter how hungry you are, this will end up being two meals. Even when I get home 30 minutes later the food is still so fresh and hot that I need to make sure it cools off. I also order the crab Rangoon occasionally, and I think I need to do it regularly. They give you 6 for around $4.50 which is a really good deal, and they are a decent size. The only downside to Mings is that the drive through takes awhile, around 30 minutes. BUT since they have a sign pre-warning that there will be a wait, I feel like it's not fair to really complain about it when you go into the line knowing this. I really love Mings and will possibly venture out with some of there other food, but I'm very happy with my #47. read more

We were visiting family in Texas, and had the chance to go out for a date night while our kids stayed with the grandparents. We'd planned to eat at Studio Movie Grill, since we were going there to see a movie, but when we saw Ming's, we figured, what the heck, let's give it a try. They offered a hot table, from which you could order plates with one or two entrees, served with rice or noodles, or you could order off the menu. We each ordered the hot table with two entrees. I got rice, my husband got noodles. Everything was fresh and tasty, and the egg rolls we ordered to go with our meal were crunchy and delicious. We didn't wait too long for our food, even though it was a Friday night and fairly busy. And boy howdy, did we get a LOT of food. I could have gotten one entree and had plenty to eat. It's not hoity-toity fancy Chinese food, it's just good and freshly prepared and an excellent value for your money. We ate for right around $20, including drinks and egg rolls. Next time we're on a date night in Tyler, we'd gladly go back to Ming's. read more

Not Bad at All! Was visiting a friend in Tyler and after a day working in heat just wanted some Chinese food. He made a great call. They have a steam table for their top take-out items which was nice. I had the chicken and mushrooms which was great as I preferred to order off the menu. They have table service for 'dine-in' and a lot of 'take -out orders' while we were there. The food was great and there is also a Holiday inn Express right behind the place which is great for those people. The only down-side was their owners had their two small children occupying a table and making a lot of noise at times while being there so late. Otherwise I would recommend this place. Never Again!! I have always loved Mings until lately. This was one of my favorite take out places in Tyler. This past Saturday i was calling in a take out order. the young man who answered the phone asked if i could please hold as he was taking an order. I decided to start driving across town so to get my food while still on hold. 15 minutes later i arrived at the restaurant and was still on hold. walked in there were maybe 10 people sitting down eating. When i asked to speak to a manager some rude 20 something kid told he was the manager and acted as if he didnt care. My wife and i have eaten there as much as once a week but at least once a month but i would rather go to Brookshires on Rice Rd for my take out Asian food then to ever step foot in Mings again read more

After waiting an HOUR from the time I ordered until I got my food in the drive-thru, you would think the order would be perfect. WRONG!!!!!! And because there is only one way in and out of the parking lot, once you order, you are stuck because you can't get out. I went back up to the restaurant and took my food inside to have them fix it. Showed them the receipt and talked to them as well and it STILL wasn't right when I got home the 2nd time. And to top it off, the bag that I grabbed from home to put the food in to take back up there had a hole in it that I didn't see so now my seat is stained from the SAUCE.
