Mingo has been one of my go-tos since 2005. The staff have been there for most of that as well and always provide fantastic service. From work dinner parties, to birthday celebrations, to casual week night dinners they always rise to your occasion. I love the patio in summer where my kids can relax along with us. They rotate their menu often and always have excellent specials. They will also make something off the menu for picky kids. Last time I was there I had the special chicken cacciatore and the classic Mingo salad. The chicken was moist and quite flavorful. The sugo is always amazing a fantastic winter delight. The house drinks are yummy, favorite is the aged Negroni. I usually skip desserts, but their panocotta is always so nurturing for the soul. read more

I've had good experiences here in the past, but tonight was utterly abysmal. Came here with friends for drinks and dessert and sat in the bar. When the drinks came, my order was incorrect. I'd ordered an amaretto sour and our server - Anabel - thought I'd said Amaro Sour, which was a specialty cocktail on the menu. No big deal... It was a little loud and a totally innocent mistake. It happens. She then repeated my order and had the bartender make it again. Dessert came and so did my second drink. I sipped it and it was quite sour, so I stirred it and dug into dessert. After finishing the panna cotta, I tried my drink again and all I could taste was sour. There was no amaretto in it! I even had two other people try it and confirm that there was no liqueur. When we flagged down the server, I mentioned that it didn't seem like there was any amaretto and she proceeded to tell me that there was, how the bartender was really good, their recipes were consistent, blah blah blah. I wasn't arguing about the skill of the bartender, I just wanted my drink and for it to be what I ordered. She checked with the bartender and was adamant that there was at least one shot of amaretto in the drink. We even had her smell it (because Disaranno is very sweet and you can tell when it's there). She said she smelled the licorice and anise of the liquor and insisted that it was present. She then offered to remake the drink with "more" amaretto: PSA, Anabel... Amaretto does not taste like licorice or anise. I strongly dislike those flavors and sure as hell wouldn't order that. I've also been drinking amaretto sours for 20 years... I know what it's supposed to taste like and that was absolutely not it. By now, I was supremely pissed. Honest mistakes are totally okay... We're all human. But to continue to insist to be right - especially when you're not - was unacceptable. And her parting note that I could request more amaretto the next time I came in was like pouring salt on a wound. Newsflash... I'm not coming back when you won't own up to your mistakes and refuse to listen to your customers. Grade = F. read more

We either got food poisoning or got drugged on Saturday night at this restaurant. My boyfriend and I got home and immediately/simultaneously got dizzy, started sweating, light headed, and remained disoriented for hours. I even had droopy eyes. We were on the ground unable to stand up, debated on having someone take us to the hospital. My boyfriend finally threw up which he claimed helped a bit. I did not throw up. It lasted over 5 hours that night until we went to bed from exhaustion, and then still felt awful the next day, and it carried over even two days later with random spells of dizziness, unable to see well/drive, tremors, and no appetite. We do not have Covid or any other sickness, we know it was caused from eating at this restaurant. We called to let them know what happened and all we got was "sorry, no one else complained though". We paid 140$. I will never eat here again. I had a weird vibe when I got there and I clearly should've listened to my gut. read more

Passing through Beaverton, had the good fortune of getting a patio table at Mingo. It was utterly pleasant, nice and shady with sunlight filtering through the trees. I got a cocktail with St. Germaine, Velvet Falernum, Prosecco - that was divine - yum yum. Had a Mingo salad, the Caesar by which all other Caesars are measured. The fish sandwich was SO DELECTABLE!! First visit today and everyone in our party was more than happy with their food orders, including some salads, halibut and chicken entrees and pizzas. The restaurant is bright, clean and comfortable and the waitstaff pleasant and attentive. Truly haven't been this impressed with a new restaurant experience in a very long time. I'd give 4 1/2 stars if I could with a slight holdback for pricing, (which is not out of line with similar quality venues). read more

Not a good selection of wine and then a simple pasta they could not make it right. Other restaurants if you ask the past to be little.mote cooked and add more flavor they would do it but here they refused. It is strange they offered to ask can we get you something else but they know I am a vegetarian and just typical pomodoro sauce pasta. I feel the manager should have come to me and asked what else he can do to make it feel comfortable. I are the raw pasta as I needed food and off course they charged me full value for it when I asked it is not cooked well. So if I get sick it is because of them as pasta is aldente but too hard is. How is this place not at least 4.5 ???? Amazing place. Their new in house bread is prob the best I've ever had anywhere. Period. The service is great, love the out door seating. Super sanitary indoors and out. I highly recommend the lasagna. I don't understand the low stars. My only guess is that people don't like the prices, which are not that bad considering how good the food is, but I know a lot of people ding stars over the prices of meals (which I think is unfair. Another neighborhood restaurant. I've been here a few times now and never had a dish that I didn't like. I've had lasagna (the lasagna changes daily). Penne al Sugo di Carne and Calamari. Nothing to complain about everything was good. Service has always been good here, they are attentive. Ambiance is good, they have outdoor seating so when the sun is out grab a seat outside. They place get busy so it's best to make reservations or get there early. read more

Was so excited to eat here as I live in Beaverton. The Ravioli I had (special) was bland and did not seem as fresh as advertised. And then - they kicked us out - we'd barely been there an hour (with a reservation) because they had other tables booked. We gulped the rest of our wine and left. Went to Mingo in the middle of the week for dinner and there was no wait. When we were there, they do check vaccination cards to sit inside so be cautious. The service was awesome. They were very attentive and the server gave a great recommendation on a wine based on our tastes. The food was delicious. It wasn't to die for but it hit the spot for my Italian food craving. This is definitely more of a casual fine dining experience. A place to go for an occasion or a date night rather than a quick bite. read more

My husband and I had dinner at Mingo this evening. We had orginally intended to eat at a different restaurant nearby but when we spotted Mingo, we changed out minds. So happy we did! It was a lovely summer evening. We had a table inside near the open doors leading out to the patio seating, overlooking the fountain. The service was top notch! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I had the NW Copper River Salmon Sicilian lentils and arugula with summer corn salsa. My husband chose the Pollo al Parmigiano. Both meals were amazing! We enjoyed delicious cocktails from the bar and finished off our meal with their Citris Olive Oil Cake with fresh whipping cream. It was such a delightful experience. It's a nice place for Beaverton, which may be worth a visit but definitely not a second trip. Nice ambiance but the food was not up to par. SFORMATO DI FUNGHI ($12) : This appetizer was really good! Savory flan made with mushrooms and served with a tarragon brown butter sauce. I love mushrooms and the "flan" was super fluffy. This was the only dish I really enjoyed and I wish I just ordered this instead of the other two. PENNE AL SUGO DI CARNE ($19) : Beef braised in Chianti and espresso tossed with penne pasta. It's good for a few bites but beyond that it's too salty and I felt sick of it quite quickly. One thing I really didn't like about it was the beef was extremely salty but the pasta itself had no taste. Seems like none of the flavoring was cooked into the pasta. GRANO INTERO PIZZA ($14) : Whole wheat crust pizza with portabello mushrooms and roasted garlic. It usually has a goat cheese but I swapped it for fresh mozzarella. I'm not sure if it's because I ordered the whole wheat version but the pizza crust was hard and dry but at the same time the pizza was extremely greasy. They really skimped on the mushrooms too and I could barely taste them probably because it was overpowered by the garlic. read more

Okay... overall... didn't like it. It's not the people; the waiter was very kind, helpful, and thoughtful. It wasn't the ambiance; it is very quaint, personal, warm, and inviting... you even have nice views from sides of the restaurant (nothing but windows). It's THA FOOD! I think the pastas are their specialty but... I tried something with less starch and was sorely disappointed. Their medallions with a squash cake was not very appealing. The demi glace sauce lack luster and bitter. The meat only had flavor due to the degree it was cooked. My safest best was the salad tied with meat sample in the apetezi (I think that is how it was spelled). Other than that... I went to bed starving. One other plus aside from the kind service and great location, they provide metal straws at a dollar charge. read more

Some friends and I went here during the last night market. We'd been wine tasting all day and out table was ready and the server took charge. She was great. Explained everything clearly and we ended up ordering salads then entrees. My gnocchi was an appetizer but the et made it entree size for me. Delicious. Drinks were great as was the service. The bill was all paid on one cc and all my friends just Venmo me afterwards. Easy peasy. Had a great night at Mingo and everyone in group had a great time. They know what they're doing and the food hit the spot. Everyone was happy and we even split 3 desserts between us. It was the crazy night market but we felt isolated from the chaos outside. Professional staff and solid food. i'll return and sit outside next time when there's not a huge event going on. I was so excited to go here because of the Yelp reviews, but sadly I was very disappointed. The caprese salad was ok...I think it didn't have enough flavor though... I got the gnocchi...one of my absolute favorite foods....and it was horrible. This is an Italian restaurant, right? Why did my gnocchi taste like Mexican food? ew. My roommate got the risotto of the day, which was made with leeks and fennel...and that was not tasty at all too. It seemed as though it was missing an ingredient.... Amazing! They were ready for us at the time of our reservation. Everything that came out was wonderful. Oso bucco was incredible and melted in the mouth. The arugula salad with prosciutto and mozzarella was so well balanced! Pizza was yummy. We also ordered both specials, a chicken mushroom lasagna with bechemel, and a halibut dish that came with polenta, spring veg and pork belly. We ordered wine by the glass and really enjoyed the pairings recommended to us. I also loved the ambiance. The place has lots of natural light, beautiful wood furniture, and fun accents. If it was a bit more affordable, I would be a regular there. That said, they source sustainable local ingredients and I don't think it is overpriced. Wow. I cannot wait to return! read more

Popularity has increased significantly. Food quality has suffered. (Burnt, literally mushy, lasagna? Ick.) Ambience is a nightmare. Host and hostess have bad attitudes. Wait times for food are bad. Parking is even worse than it ever was. When you are rushing to get out of an expensive restaurant, you know you've made a poor choice. We have been to Mingo many times, bringing family and friends. Mingo has been our go-to place for birthdays, holidays, and frankly any night that we want to savor our time together... even if that is a Tuesday night. The food here is phenomenal. They source locally and make almost everything in house. The lasagna changes seemingly daily and is so good it is hard to branch out & order other things. Such is the burden at Mingo - there are so many delights on the menu it's hard to decide what to have. Start with one of their interesting cocktails, most of which have an italian ingredient or two thrown in for a twist - often an Amaro, of which they have the best selection around. Continue with their Mingo salad, which looks at first glance like a caesar, but most definitely is not: this dressing is more subtle, with a bigger hint of lemony goodness, and plenty of garlic to peak your appetite. Or split the chicchetti if you're lucky enough to see it on the menu when you go - it's only available sometimes, and is the tapas of Venice. Little bites of 5 different things so you can taste your way through the start to your meal. If you're into variety, split a primo like the housemate roman gnocchi, which are made from semolina not potatoes and topped with a tangy, perfect tomato sauce and are delightfully different, crispy edges, creamy interiors... Then move on to the secondo, with something like their steak, chicken, or fish dishes, all of which are cooked to perfection, accompanied by seasonal vegetables, and amazing sauces... For dessert, you're not going to believe me, but trust me here. Go with the prunes, poached in nebbiolo wine with just the right amount of warm, cinnamony & I don't know what else goodness, topped with a perfect scoop of house made marscapone. It is the perfect end to a meal... Unless you want to nip into one of those amaros, sipped as a digestive... If you're lucky enough to be there on a summer evening, sit outside, under the tent, the lights, and the sunset... It might be perfection in Beaverton. read more

Went here for the first time and I was extremely disappointed. I feel like this is a place that probably has some good menu items, but unfortunately I feel like I struck out. The pesto gnocchi was really bad. It was $17 and came with about 15 gnocchi. The pesto didn't have any discernible flavor because the gnocchi itself was so mushy and the sauce just disappeared into all that potato. Would've liked the gnocchi to have a little more chew to them. Focaccia was good, but expensive for 9 dollars (you can get a whole entire loaf at New Seasons for 5 dollars and it's way better). The Mingo salad dressing was really good too but there was only 4 croutons for the whole thing and only a tiny bit of cheese on top ($15) Overall spent about 46 dollars and didn't really like much of anything. The food was great. I was not impressed with the table or service. I tipped for our amazing busboy and the cooks. I never received my hot tea and when I asked for it to be cancelled, I never received an acknowledgement from our server. I did however get a few dirty looks from the manager. Cannot trust this restaurant! This is not the place for you if you'd want to have guaranteed outdoor seating. We have made reservations 2-3 weeks ahead of time. When we arrived at Mingo to celebrate my friend's birthday, we were told that we did not request for outdoors in our reservation. We're very sure that we made a reservation online with an outdoor seating request, but the hostess was determined that we did not. We have a party of six, when our last friend arrived, she said this exact same thing happened to her the week before. So it seems that this restaurant purposely overbooks their outdoor seating, and redirects customers to indoor seating! read more

Fall from Taste. Just went back for the first time in a couple years and was surprised how far the quality of the food has fallen. I started going to this place back in 1997 in the NW location and frequented the Beaverton location not so long ago. The food was not just different, it was just bad. The desert was bad as well. It tasted like low quality frozen meals to be honest. The staff was nice. The service was OK. The salad and the wine was good. In the end, I wouldn't go back to this place if it was 1/2 the price.
