MingHin has the best Dim Sum in Chicago. There is no other place that is better. It's definitely not the cheapest, but it certainly tastes the best. I've been to their Chinatown location which is always packed and now this location, which surprisingly wasn't busy at all. We were able to get seated right away and received amazing, quick and friendly service. We ordered their BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Steamed BBQ Pork Bun, Baked BBQ Pork Bun, Pan Fried Pot Stickers, and their Beef Crepe. It was all delicious and very filling. We came to MingHin for dinner after visiting the Shedd Aquarium it was pretty close by. We made a reservation but didn't need one that early as there was plenty of open tables. We were handed an iPad but not any explanation so we thought we just order as we go. However you can't send the items to the kitchen yourself they have to take the iPad and enter a code so we tried to do some larger orders so we wouldn't have to keep asking them to order. We tried a couple dishes and the portions were huge - chow mein (5/5) I had never had thin noodles with toss dish but it was the tastiest of the three we ordered and we loved it - Kung Bao Chicken (4/5) I'm not usually a fan of peanuts in my food but it added a lot of great flavor and texture. This also comes with a small side of rice. I was hoping for something spicier - veggie fried rice (3/5): I felt that this lacked salt and general flavor. We had places to go afterwards, so we booked a 5PM reservation for 4 people. Everything was handled efficiently, including our ordering of dim sum items on a tablet. Even though the ordering process was a bit automated and cold, someone was checking in on our table throughout our dining experience. We were always supplied with hot tea and ice water. We ordered seven different items, and everything was tasty and came out promptly. Our selections - flaky BBQ pork turnovers, sticky rice, siu mai, pan fried corn and pork cake (more of a dumpling than a cake!), shrimp dumpling with green chive, fried crabmeat and seaweed roll, and stir-fried flat noodles with beef - offered a nice variety of tastes and textures for our group. read more

Drinks: They have a wide variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drink options to pair with your dinner. I was very pleasantly surprised. I've gone to one other omakase tasting and I was still starving after the other one and it was like 9 courses. This one I was so full and content afterwards. It was seriously worth it! Aesthetics: it is beautiful inside, you have the option to sit in traditional Japanese tables or the normal tabletops. We opted for the Japanese style set up. It was so beautiful. Service: our server was so sweet and attentive. He took the time to explain everything in great detail to us. He made wonderful recommendations on drinks and menu items. He checked in often to get our opinion on how we were enjoying each item and what our favorites were. You can tell that he and the chefs truly enjoy what they do. It was A+ service. Overall it was a flavor experience and a fun date night experience. I was excited to cut out this hidden gem tucked away upstairs of MingHin. I'm surprised more people aren't aware of this. We arrived on a Sunday night, and we had a 30-minute wait with no reservations. The customer service was good even with a slight language barrier. It's a nice traditional spot with a sprinkle of cute Asian influences throughout the restaurant. I ordered the fried noodles and the pork bun. I wasn't a big fan of the pork bun, but I did enjoy the main dish. The portion size is huge and enough to feed 3. It was full of beef and fresh veggies. It actually tasted better the next day. The flavors didn't really activate until it sat in the fridge for a bit. It was the same situation with my friends' veggie fried rice. Been to this place a couple times so it's about time I left a review. Personally I prefer this chain location compared to the one in Chinatown due to how vacant it usually is even during busy hours. Interior is a lot nicer and gives you a more comfortable experience. To give bonus points they always have dishes and rarely are out of stock that includes my favorite "custard creamy yolk buns" from the menu. Reason why it's not a full 5 stars is cause the menu prices are way above normal. For simple dim sum you are running around 6-10$ per dish which is an exorbitant amount. read more

The order of snow peas had more snow peas than any I have ever received at any restaurant, and the sauce was the best tasting I can remember!! So 5 stars for that! A decent dim sum spot that more convenient if you around the Loop area versus going all the way to Chinatown. I will say Minghin is not my favorite dim sum spot in Chicago (lots of OG spots in Chinatown that are really great). But Minghin's menu is pretty expansive and it does have a lot of variety of dishes. Their service is also usually quick which is nice. This location is always pretty empty compared to the Chinatown location, so I've never had to wait for a table. read more

Modern clean and traditional. They utilize an iPad to take your order which I loved. There was not a feeling of being rushed and we got to order whatever we wanted. Let's start by saying I am a HUGE dim sum fan. I have had dim sum across the country and in China. Chicago is just consistently one of my favorite places to eat Chinese food in general but MingHin tops the chart. We've been here several times and service each time was perfect. The server is always very patient and checks on the ingredients to accommodate food allergies. We like their dim sum a lot, but sometimes the salty egg yolk custard buns are over cooked in the oven, or it wasn't as fluffy as they normally are. Sesame balls today look extra tiny and tasted over cooked. Big Mouth Bass was very delicious (also expensive). My kid isn't a fan of steamed fish, but had quite a good amount of this dish. It is what I have been trying to find, but not realizing that it was right in front of my face. Food and drinks were delicious. The food at this location is consistently good, but the service leaves something to be desired. I've been a couple of times in the last few weeks, and each time, the restaurant has been understaffed. Tonight, there appeared to be three people tending to dining customers, and one person working the front register. Of the three waiters, one of them was also making drinks at the bar. We had to flag an employee down to get silverware, our check, to-go boxes, and condiments. That's just too much. I'll continue to order takeout, but I will probably refrain from visiting this location in the future. The locations in Chinatown and River East have much better service. Anyway, the food makes up for the service. It's a tad expensive ($120 for three people is rough), but it's pretty good. I love the orange chicken and the Mongolian beef. Tonight, my brother had the BBQ platter, which had BBQ, pork belly, and pork tederlion. He really enjoyed it. They serve high-quality meats and give generous portions.
