I am 90 years old. I love chinese food. But NEVER again at Ming DU. Greeting was like a zombie met me at the door. My friend a nurse practioner went to the restroom and came back with a FLTHY comment. Shold have left them but as we were looking forward to our Thanksgiving premeal, stayed. They served my food (medoocre at best) and did not serve my friends food for another ten minutes. I sat there waiting for her pad thai embarrased for her. Finally a mediocre pad thai arrived. Of course my food now stone cold. Only thing quick service was the arrival of the check. Felt like I need a shower when I left this place. 1 year ago I gave this restaurant a very positive review. I will never order from this place again. Two weeks in a row I place an online order and they are horribly late. No call, no email, no text message, they just assume you still want your order and show up when it's good for them. Next I call after their being very late. I literally called more than 100 times, got thorough a couple of times but was only put on a desk while they served in store customers. After their being 1.75 hours late, I'd given up. Next, well over 2 hours late they finally call me and ask if I still want my order. Seriously!?! If they called around the scheduled delivery time and told me they are 2.5 hours behind, I would have been annoyed but not upset. I would have made alternate dinner plans, and let my positive review. We took my younger sister out for her birthday, and we were so pleased that we chose to go to Ming Du's in Stoughton for her celebration. We ordered egg drop and wonton soup first. It was excellent. For the appetizers, we each ordered something different. The birthday girl, got the teriyaki chicken, my husband ordered the chicken fingers, our friend had the pork strips, and I had beef teriyaki. and we were all pleased with how delicious everything tasted. For our entre we, had the chicken curry, our friend had Mongolian beef, my husband had shrimp with mixed vegtable, and I had mongolian chicen with green beans added. When asked where I want to go, I always say, Ming Du's because the food, service, and ambiance of the rest​urant is fabulous. It's a family owned business and they take pride in the way that they treat each customer. I'm writing my review in hopes that you will have the good fortune to frequent this fine Chinese restaurant. Wow I actually found good Chinese food in stoughton. While most Chinese restaurants increase their prices and skimp on their portions (for example less filling in crab Rangoon and etc), this place only raised the prices slightly but kept the filling the same. The flavor is on point. Look at the filling of my curry beef rangoons (it is stuffed). Also included is soup with the combo plates which is a plus since most restaurants don't offer it anymore. Spur of the moment decision again as I cruised down Rt 138 through Stoughton (no I wasn't headed to Alex's) and I am glad I went in. Not busy and arriving earlier than the first time I visited I was happy all the food was hot and fresh. This was much improved over my last trip. This buffet is just the right size. No 200 items with Sushi and Hibachi just the basic favorites prepared well with great service. It's a really satisfying lunch. I was seated by the sweetest lady Suzie who called me honey but in a natural sincere way like an auntie would. She kept my water full and removed my old plates promptly. I literally tried everything. The hot n sour starter soup had a bit of a peppery taste but was OK. I then went up to the 15 ft table and scanned right to left crab rangoon, mini pan fried dumplings and wings. There was lo-mien and fried rice. General Gua's, beef and broccoli, sweetnsour chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce with nice shrimp in it, egg foo yong, steamed vegtables, string beans, some pineapple for desert. Couldn't take one more bite. Kitchen came out 4 times to check and refresh. Would I have had a spare rib or a some peel n eat shrimp sure but really this is all you need. Let me start by saying all Chinese lunch Buffet places should have its own rating system. Since we only have the 5 Star rating system here, 3 star here should be considered slightly lower compared to other restaurants. Ming Du is sorta dark- in decore, lighting and their food. The standard Chinese buffet dishes were there but all kinda dark brownish (mostly). Selection is somewhat limited but not too bad. Food is ok and the wait staffs were attentive to the condition of the buffet bar. Service was good. Overall, it's a little depressing. Not sure if it's the food or the lighting but seems like a depressed local Chinese joint. Would I come back? If I'm starving and if I'm in the neighborhood, yes. read more

They refill their buffet very regularly & they DO PROVIDE SOUP, don't know how that reviewer missed it unless he went up to the buffet as soon as sitting down, not giving the server a chance. He did say he was famished so maybe he didn't know. I thing he said, which I agree, the staff are very friendly & brought him some add'l items that had run out. Fact is, they will bring you anything you want that may have been missed on the buffet, even if it is 10 minutes before buffet close, OR they will tell you if it's only what's left YOUR choice.
