Pretty good! Mind Coffee has cool vibes and seems like a chill place to hang out, study, or read... if you can find a seat. The location is kind of hard to get to by car. It is in a busy area as it is near the university, and parking can be tricky. I got the (bigger size, about 12oz) Mindspänner over ice, and it was delicious! I personally have a sweet tooth so I would have liked it a little sweeter. The foam was expertly done, and it was super creamy. There was probably like 4 inches of foam that was layer into my drink. Can't get Mind Coffee off my mind! I recently moved back to Berkeley and the companion knows I love my cafes and tea so recommended we come here. Once I saw they had one of my favorite drinks I knew I was going to enjoy my experience. You can find the specialty coffee shop on Northside super close to campus. It's a narrow cafe that's quiet, clean, and minimalistic, with seating and working areas with WiFi and outlets. The ordering process is simple since you use tablets, so you don't interact with the baristas much aside for when they call your name. Drinks are made one at a time so it can be on the slower side unless you order ahead. I think it's great you can customize your drink to your liking. You choose the temperature (iced is an additional cost), dairy or non-dairy choice, and sweetness level. I got an Iced Hojicha Latte with Almond Milk and Less Sweet. I love the roasted nutty taste of hojicha and theirs was perfect for me. Even with less sweet I found it to be sweet. The almond milk gave it a more lighter taste. Mind Coffee's mission is wonderful and it's great to support this local cafe especially if you're a student at Cal. I love their variety of specialty coffee drinks and the craft they put into making it. The baristas are fast, the drinks are note-worthy, and the ambiance is super cute. The matcha at Mind is one of the better places at Berkeley! I usually get their hojicha, which is creamy and not too sweet! The vibes inside are really nice and aesthetic, although some of the cushions are really strange to sit on (they're rock shaped? hard to study at). There's not too much space also, so beware if you're going during peak hours (I would say around 2pm on a school day). It's not my first time at this cafe, but they always have wonderful service. You're welcomed in as you walk up to order. Ambience is calm and peaceful enough for you to study. Sweetness levels are prefect for people like me who don't like having a ton of sugar in drinks. I also love that you don't have to pay extra for non-dairy options. Hojicha latte: Not too sweet, just how I like it. Hojicha flavor is good, could perhaps be a bit stronger. Matcha latte: High quality, smooth matcha. Could be a tad stronger, but that's just my personal preference for strong matcha. Plus, look how pretty it is! Great for the aesthetic. Sparkling matcha with rose syrup: Interesting concept, don't regret trying it but I don't think I'd get it again. It's quite bitter and I'm not sure how much I like having bubbly matcha? Let your barista choose: As someone who is indecisive, I love this concept! You select some features of your drink that you'd like (hot/cold, sweetness, coffee/tea, etc) and they will create something for you! I think I got some sort of hojicha drink, which I enjoyed. This is a new coffee place on Northside, located next to Banh Mi and Rolls Factory. The inside is really modern and cozy, and there are a few seats with outlets against the wall. I came by on a Wednesday morning, and was lucky enough to find a seat. You order at the kiosks by the counter and then they call your name when your drink is ready. Snackpass ordering is also available. I decided to get an iced hojicha latte since it seemed to be one of their most popular drinks. I appreciate how oat milk is free, since it's usually an additional charge. The drink came out really pretty looking in quite a large cup! I would say the hojicha flavor was a bit less strong and sweet than I typically prefer (I got standard sweetness) though you could definitely still taste it. I do want to try some more of their menu items like the shaken espresso since that's one of my favorites elsewhere, but I probably wouldn't get the hojicha again. Quick Summary - You can order with the SnackPass kiosk - Drinks are made in a takeout cup at default - Coffee is not sour - Couple of tables and cool cushions to sit - Once you're done, deliver the cups and trays back to the counter A very modern and elegant coffee shop located near North Gate. It's created like a narrow hallway with comfy low chairs and tables. We went in the late afternoon, and most of the seats were filled with guests. If you loop around the corner, there is a pair of seats near the counter as well. What is also around the counter are two kiosk machines: one on the counter and the standalone one. We used the standalone machine and looked at the different menu options. The one that caught my eye was the Einspänner. Two espresso shots with a thick whipped cream on top -- I have only heard of it in German language book. Of course, I decided on this one and my relative ordered the mocha. On the kiosk, when choosing options, there is an option to choose to drink here. When selecting this option, the drink will come in a cup; at default, it will be the take out. The Einspänner arrived in a pretty glass cup. The espresso sat on the bottom and then the whip cream seemed to float on top of the espresso sea. The espresso is warm and the whip cream is cool and surprisingly thick. It was almost like eating ice cream. I didn't mix it together so I drank with mostly espresso and whipped cream and near the end it was whipped cream with a mix of espresso. I liked it a lot. In the first sip, because there is the whipped cream the coffee tasted slightly sour but it was probably the wide gap between sweet and sour. Afterwards the sourness disappeared. Was drinking two shots of espresso in the afternoon is risky in falling asleep? I'm pretty tolerant with caffeine, so it was minor. The staff here are welcoming and very generous. I was sitting by and saw a customer, who wanted a coffee but he wanted to drink with a decaf, which during this time there was no option for yet (the cafe is new, and they're waiting on the grinding machine). However, the staff observed the cafe, which the busyness had winded down to calmness, so they were able to manually grind the decaf coffee beans for the customer. Very kind gesture, and I hope us as guest can help them raise money to get a new grinding machine for decaf coffee beans. read more

Such a cute spot located next to UC Berkeley, it is a bit small so you really gotta look for it's shop. Inside you have tables set up for students to study or hang out. A very cozy, very narrow (!) coffee shop on Euclid, just north of the campus. Early mornings, it's not too busy - there were a few people sitting and enjoying their drinks/doing work/studying at around 8am, but it gets pretty packed later on, especially due to its size. It can probably seat a maximum of 20 people and due to the copious amount of power outlets, it's quite popular with students. I've only had espresso-based drinks from Mind and they're solid - definitely the best in the area IMHO, though probably not the best in all of Berkeley. They have at least oat and soy alt-milks and also a variety of delicious looking pastries. Prices are reasonable and on par for the area. An oat milk latte will set you back about $6 before tip. read more

Stopped by at 1:30 on a Friday and most of the tables were filled up with students who were working. I was really excited because I had heard about this place newly opening after I moved out of Berkeley two years ago. The space is super cool looking and the architecture of the store is very unique, very narrow. I ordered the Ceremonial Iced Matcha with House Crema with Suggested Sweetness and the cream was really good when I tried it by itself on the top, but the matcha to water ratio was kind of off. It tasted way more watery than I would have expected. However, this is not a matcha latte so maybe it wasn't meant to be more matcha and watery, so I wasn't too happy that it seemed very watery. This is a tight coffee spot. As in it's a really long but not wide coffee spot lol. They have self order kiosks. Definitely a more grab and go spot. Came here because of the bestie and for my love of coffee and matcha. This place was highly recommended by my friend and this place did not disappoint. The location is very small, and aesthetics are quite nice; I loved the interior design. This place can get quite packed due to students studying there or people in general doing work or relaxing. If you drive to this location, it could be a bit difficult trying to find a parking spot as you will need to find street parking. I did park a couple blocks away, but it wasn't a bad walk to the coffee shop. I really wanted to take pictures inside, but was occupied with some important matters; will definitely want to take pictures the next time I come back :). When you go inside, there is the self-service kiosk tablet you can order from. If you would want to pay in cash, you can go to the counter and a server will take your order too. The service was very quick and they are all so very nice! I ordered the Iced Dirty Matcha Latte, it is the Ceremonial grade Matcha with 2 shots of house espresso, ice, and your choice of milk. It was the perfect balance, and I got the amount of caffeine needed to keep me going! Great quality drink. Went here with my bf for the first time about two weeks ago and got the hojicha latte with cold foam. First time trying it and it was SOOO good, def set my standard for hojicha. I really like the Iced Matcha Latte because it was not too sweet and it didn't taste powdery. My friend really liked her iced Hojicha latte because you can really taste the flavor of the tea. The interior looks clean and unique but I didn't like how it was stuffy and hot when I walked into the cafe. I also didn't really like the small tables and little bean bags chairs. It was cool but I noticed the people who were sitting on those bean bags were slouching very badly to get their work done.
