The star of the lineup is definitely the Orange Blossom Latte or so I've heard, (it's their OG!) The coffee is light with a subtle hint of orange on the finish, so neither flavor overpowers the other. Instead, they complement each other really well, creating a balanced and delicious drink. As for the Whipped Honey Crème Latte, I didn't really taste much hojicha. It was mostly bitter and watered down, even though they just made it. Never had a Cortado before, but it was my first time trying it. It was verry bitter. That's all I have to say. I do have to say that the shop was a little hard to find. I was following Google Maps, but the hair salon next door blocks the storefront quite a bit, so I didn't really notice the sign.
Kept seeing this spot on IG (influenced by Gabe Bondoc himself!) so we made a stop on our way back home. I appreciated that they had online ordering so I could just jump out of the car and pick up the drinks! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop itself is very tiny inside so if you can't snag a table then you won't be able to hangout inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks felt a bit watery at first but once you mix in the cream it was a lot better. My banana pudding latte was rich and creamy after it was mixed together. I liked the cream on top of the whipped honey cream latte as well, and both drinks were so pretty!
Saw this place on TikTok the other day and randomly remembered while driving thru Oakland so I stopped by and I'm definitely glad I did. I wanted a strawberry matcha, but they don't sell that here. Instead the barista offered to make their spring 2026 special (iced sakura matcha midspanner latte) if I could wait a couple minutes, so I did and it was definitely worth the wait. The honey at the bottom really complimented the rest of the matcha and the matcha taste wasn't too strong either. It was the perfect blend of sweet and matcha. Definitely one of the better matchas I've had around the bay
Like it extra thicccc and creamy? Mindspänner. GET IT. Making my way through Berkeley's cafes, Mind Coffee's thicccc layer of whipped cream caught my attention. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Being steps away from UCB's main entrance, street parking is hard to come by and it's a small shop with limited seating (all taken by students) so not the ideal place to do meet ups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Mind Coffee roasts and sells their own beans, and uses Arteao matcha and hōjicha. Decaf available. No charge for oat milk! Pastries and breakfast sandwiches available. Order ahead on Snackpass to skip the line. D R I N K S * Iced Whipped Honey Cream Hōjicha Latte w/ oat milk (Seasonal-$8.95) Rich, creamy, and roasty with a natural sweetness. The house whipped cream was thicc, fluffy, and cloud-like. Delicious esp with the bee pollen adding a subtle crunch. * Iced Mindspänner Matcha Latte ($7.50) Hand-whisked to order, the matcha was vibrant and smooth with an earthy umami. Not watered down. The fluffy whipped cream softened the earthiness and added a light sweetness. * Iced Mindspänner Latte ($7.50) - Add extra shot of espresso (+$1) Not mine but I had a sip, bold and creamy...affogato without the ice cream. S E R V I C E Warm, upbeat, and gracious staff...positive vibes all around. The ladies were so sweet and brought a cup of water for the pups as were were ordering. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also pointed out that the dog featured on the storefront and cups is actually the owner's dog, which made the place feel even more personal and charming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks were ready in about 5 minutes (no line at the time). A M B I A N C E [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gorgeous minimalist zen space centered around mindfulness, there's floor and table seating, and two tables outside. Inside seating is hard to come by tho since students laptop camp.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Restroom available. Overall, we really enjoyed our lattes and the genuine service was just the cherry on top. Mind Coffee is one of my favorite coffee shops in Berkeley - it's easy to miss unless you know where to look. I came here recently for a pick-me-up while I was walking near campus. It was an unexpectedly warm day, so I stopped in for an iced caffeinated beverage. I was indecisive when it was my turn to order, so the barista recommended the orange blossom matcha sparkler. This sounded intriguing and refreshing, so I decided to give it a try. My beverage was prepared about two minutes after I ordered it, and I was immediately refreshed after the first sip. The orange blossom flavoring was very subtle and provided just the right amount of sweetness and floral essence to counter the matcha's bitterness. The fizziness made this a perfect drink for a hot day. I've tried Mind Coffee's espresso on a prior visit, and I can now say they succeed in both the coffee and matcha categories.
I was absolutely stunned when I first walked in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Mind Coffee feels like you're immersing in an art gallery, apple store, forest, and a craft shop all at once.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered an Americano, the Earl Gray Matcha Einspanner Latte, and the Sakura Matcha Mindspanner Latte. The presentation was gorgeous, from the cups to the cream. The Sakura Matcha Mindspanner was definitely my favorite all around. The hint of sakura combined with the bold matcha was a very fun flavor experience. I think sadly, in the Earl Gray Matcha Einspanner, the matcha overpowered the earl gray. The flavor was there, but it was extremely subtle (don't get me wrong, I'd definitely get it again). Also, their espresso is unmatched. It really reminded me what a good espresso shot should taste like. The staff here were super friendly right off the bath. Even though there is an ordering kiosk available, they still went out of their way to greet us and let us know that they are there to also take orders and answer questions. I was also a bit bummed that they were sold out of their Orange Blossom Latte. I feel like it would taste like an orange creamsicle. They were very reassuring that it's a regular menu item and that I can hopefully get my hands on one before it sells out for the day next time! I can't wait to see what they come out with next!
We were craving a matcha latte after lunch and found Mind Coffee near UC Berkeley. It is a cute little spot, and I really liked the whimsical ceiling design with its flowing, wave-like curves that give the space a calm and uplifting vibe. Ordering is done through a kiosk, which was easy to use, and the drinks came out quickly. We tried the matcha latte and the Earl Grey matcha eispanner, and both were great There is a mix of normal table seating and low, bean bag style seats for a more relaxed vibe. The staff were friendly and checked in to see if we needed help while using the kiosk. They serve both coffee and matcha drinks, and it is a great place to stop by if you are near UC Berkeley.
Nice little coffee shop near campus with a calm, zen vibe. I ordered the Iced Mindspänner, and my wife had the Earl Grey Matcha Einspänner Latte. They offer non-dairy options and pastries from the local starter bakery, which is a nice touch. The space has a minimalist feel with floor seating and a few tables. The Earl Grey Matcha had the green matcha color but leaned more toward the Earl Grey flavor, still very good. The white cream was fresh, light, and delicious. Presentation was on point (you can see in my photos). Even though it was busy and the wait was about ten minutes, they clearly took their time to make sure everything looked great. Definitely worth checking out.
Earl Grey Matcha Einspanner -- delicious creamy earl grey flavor mixed with matcha. Matcha and earl grey do not over power each other. The einspanner was nice, fluffy and made the drink more enjoyable. Matcha was not watered down, it was the right amount of matcha flavor and thickness! Iced Mindspanner Hojicha -- delicious roasted flavor. Einspanner adds so much creaminess and thickness to the drink. The hojicha did not taste clumpy, it was delicious! Drinks were quick to order, about 15 minutes or less. There are two options to order, through the cashier or the kiosk. Although they have an online menu, it's not as accurate it's better to order in person.
[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is such a cute little cafe my friend recommended.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a hojicha latte and a hojicha einspanner. The server was very nice in giving us recommendations for us first timers. The sweetness levels for both were well done and the creaminess on top was really good. I thought the einspanner was a different experience generally as we typically just order traditional lattes, but the flavor was still really good. Didn't blow us away, but we'd be curious to try the seasonal ones next time and their traditional matcha latte.
Super cute cafe! I love that they hand whisk their matcha drinks fresh. I love a creamy drink so i'd definitely try the einspanner! I also loved their orange cardamom coffee. I usually don't love citrus in coffee, but this was so good! One star is lost because i hate the seating. It is really not comfortable and you just can't wear a dress or a skirt.

A really cute spot (albeit packed with students) for a morning matcha. I tried an Oat Milk Matcha Latte at the recommended sweetness. Someone needs to explain why the iced version costs more??? Anyways, the matcha did taste okay - nothing super phenomenal. The matcha flavor was there and it wasn't overpowered by sweetness. I was expecting a little more matcha, but that is my personal preference. The interior was pretty nice - plenty of outlets along the wall, but none near the windows. I did like the seat cushion on ground vibes, and I feel like if there were fewer people, it would generally be a great place to get a calming day of work done. read more

This place is so magical! It's a narrow little shop, with stone shaped cushions and elaborate drinks. As a non-native to the Bay Area, I normally grit my teeth at paying so much for a coffee, but considering that each one is a little work of art--it's totally worth the splurge. The workers were kind, the ambiance offered a calm getaway, and it's really close to the UC Berkeley campus. read more

Very cute and small cafe near campus! Nice staff. I ended up ordering the matcha w/ crema which I thought was ok. The crema is very vanilla-y and I felt like it overpowered the matcha. Once it fully mixed in, I felt like my drink gave more of a matcha vanilla milkshake vibe. Would definitely like to just try the matcha, no crema next time. read more
Mind Coffee is, without question, my favorite cafe. I've visited countless times (truly my home away from home) and still find so inspiring. They have such an innovative approach to coffee and tea, each bevy is thoughtfully crafted and is set apart from the rest of the coffee scene. The owner, Viviana, and her staff are incredibly welcoming, kind, and passionate. Always happy to see them while I'm here. The ambiance is cozy, intimate, and modern. The space is pretty limited, I get there early to score one of the tables, but there's also floor cushion seating which is always fun. Parking nearby can be tricky... I recommend using ParkMobile or parking a short walk away in the surrounding 2-hour zones for a smoother experience. I'm proud to be a regular and have tried most (if not all) of their drinks. I absolutely love their current summer lineup: - Strawberry Matcha Mindspanner (my absolute favorite, and made with strawberries from the farmers market!) - Pineapple Coconut Cold Brew - Yuzu Peach Matcha Frizz (I've never had anything like this. absolutely incredible) - Earl Grey Cloud layered over cold brew You neeeeed to try their Einspanners with housemade cream and cold foam, they're also incredibly photogenic! Their Hojicha is so rich and nutty, also a fave, and their pourovers are a really unique, nuanced coffee experience. **Also, milk options are whole, 2%, almond, oat, soy. In LOVE with Mind Coffee. Its minimalist aesthetic with its relaxing, mental health-forward atmosphere makes every trip to this cafe all the more worth it. It's no shock that the place is always bustling with satisfied customers. Today I tried a new combination made by one of their very talented baristas, Nora. She made me an iced latte with their seasonal earl grey cold foam and it was to die for. Mind Coffee is a must-try!! I have come by a few times just to pick up via Snackpass, but I have yet to study inside. Inside is super cute with floor/cushion seats and a few outside tables, but it's on a slant so I would not (lol). I alter between: Iced Ceremonial Matcha Latte w/ whole milk and house crema: 4.5/5 Definitely a good matcha in the area! I can taste it and the house crema bumps it up a notch. Iced Hojicha Latte with soy milk and house crema: 5/5 My go-to drink here, I get it more than the matcha. House crema must have with it! read more

Small cafe in Berkeley with a beautiful, minimalist, modern interior. Finals week is this week, and I needed somewhere with ample seating, outlets, free WiFi, and a calm vibe. Mind Coffee delivered on everything I needed! It also helps that many other college students were studying or working when I came around 6pm. I also like that they're open late (10pm) compared to other cafes in the area. I ordered the inner peace tea which comes in a small glass carafe. Very calming and I liked the inclusion of kava root! We stopped by on one of those beautiful cold and cloudy Californian summer afternoon after seeing the café mentioned in the SF Chronicle. We were curious to try their Einspänner. We selected the espresso Einspänner and it clame out as the perfect drink: 2 shot of espresso topped with a dollop of slightly sweetened cream, small, so as not feel overstuffed afterward, the coffee light bitterness balancing the cream. The shop has a pleasant modern vibe, with a cool grey and white palette, with student working on their laptops. Be ready though to sit on cushions on the floor. read more

aesthetic: 5/5 food: 3/5 service: 4/5 as much as i admire mind coffee's brand concept and commitment to mental health awareness, the drinks have fallen a bit short. i first tried mind when they opened, and the iced hojicha used to have bold brown tones. recently, i've noticed they appear much paler and heavier on the milk. that said, mind's espresso-based beverages are a safe bet for consistency. the oat orange cardamom latte was unique and topped off with beautiful latte art, which made for a great start to my study day. mind coffee's drinks are undeniably works of art, especially the mindspanner lattes, which i've only heard good things about. unfortunately, due to a dairy allergy, i can't try them. i'd love to see mind offer a dairy-free option in the future, especially in berkeley's renowned vegan culinary scene, and happily give the drinks another shot. read more

In spite of its terrible parking situation and very limited seating availability, Mind is one of the more popular study spots in the area. Definitely consider walking or taking public transit, and if you do decide to drive, know that the meter maids here are particularly active - one visit I saw 3 cars around me get ticketed in a two hour time span. There are only 4 regular tables, with the rest of the seating options being firm beanbags and knee-high surfaces. Mind has some of the closest interior decor I've seen to some of my favorite coffee shops in LA - a clean, bright aesthetic that showcases their process. Staff are lovely and willing to answer any questions, and although drinks do take a little longer to come out they're worth the wait. Cardamom Matcha Mindspanner: a personalized seasonal recommendation from one of their baristas. Matcha and cardamom taste were evenly matched and perfectly sweet - the matcha in particular tasted fairly high quality. Whipped cream was fantastic and very spoonable. Hojicha Mindspanner: wanted to see how they would do one of my favorite flavors and Mind did not disappoint. Flavor was authentic and not overwhelming. See above for notes on cream. This spot has a lot going for it, but let's get into the details. First impressions: The place is clean, calm, and clearly taken care of--the restroom especially was spotless, which always earns points. However, it took us a minute to find the entrance since it's tucked next to a hair salon, and the signage isn't super obvious until you're right at the door. A little more visibility would go a long way. Also worth noting: the cashier station had a strong cumin-like smell. Not a total dealbreaker, but kind of threw off the initial vibe. What we ordered: * Hot Ceremonial Matcha Latte (no sweetener) * Iced Ceremonial Matcha Latte with honey Both made with organic whole milk. The matcha itself is smooth, premium, and creamy--definitely high-quality. Drinks are self-serve and customizable, which we loved. That said, would recommend asking for an extra shot of matcha if you want a stronger flavor. The base version was smooth and good as well and lighter on the matcha. Also... we were charged 50 cents for ice. Not a huge deal, but it felt a little unnecessary, especially for a place that otherwise feels so thoughtful. Hours: * Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM * Saturday-Sunday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Overall, this is a cozy, well-kept spot that feels like a hidden gem (literally). With a couple of small tweaks--stronger matcha, clearer signage--it could easily be a 5-star go-to. Would definitely return for a calm, no-fuss matcha moment. read more

good for what it is. this little aesthetic cafe is near the berkeley campus and had many students studying. It's very cute! a downside are parking.. you have to opt to street parking unless you're walking from campus. as well as limited seating, ultimately making the cafe pretty small, it's tight in there waiting for your order to be called. i got the iced matcha w/ crema and iced hojicha w/ crema (mind you they charge .50 for iced). the drinks were pretty regardless but it didn't make up for the taste. i typically have a preference of a stronger matcha taste and a thicker texture so the drinks didn't WOW me as much. if you're looking for a light taste i do recommend this place for starters. read more

the matcha here is absolutely amazing. i ordered the earl grey matcha einspänner and a dirty matcha, and both were so good. i placed my order online and pickup was quick and seamless. the matcha was super creamy, and the earl grey foam on top was delicious--such a perfect combo. i literally gulped my drink down in seconds. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I stopped by for a to try the hojicha einspaner which was really good! I've never had an einspaner before and it seemed like a latte with luscious dollops of whip cream. Super pretty drink! The cafe is narrow with some seating and outlets. They have Snackpass so you can order ahead. Although I need to comment on how there was no AC on a super hot summer day. read more
I was recommended here from a friend. The spit is really cozy and cute, very aesthetic. All the seating areas were filled, with studying students. I got a matcha latte. The matcha tasted authentic and was prepared well. I got the normal sweetness (which was not sweet) and enjoyed it. The balance of the sweet cream was great with the matcha. It was overall good. The wait was about 15 minutes. Be prepared to wait a bit as it is a busy spot. read more
Solid coffee shop near campus. It is small so unless you're there early and camp out, you're not likely to find a spot to do work. Also some of their spots are little cushions on the ground and not the most comfortable for spending more than 5 minutes there. You order at a little kiosk near the counter. Straightforward and no problems. I got a regular latte and a twice baked hazelnut chocolate croissant. Decent latte, was pricey but about average for Berkeley. The croissant while amazingly delicious was incredibly rich. Maybe share it with a friend and definitely have something caffeinated to cut through the richness. Give it a shot! But maybe take it to go and find somewhere else to work. read more

Honestly not impressed . Ordered the Iced Dirty Matcha Latte + Orange Blossom drink . Both were pretty average, nothing special. The space is super tiny--most people were literally sitting on the floor ... not the most comfortable vibe. Cute idea but not for me. Won't be back . read more

Aesthetic café in Berkeley - came here with a friend because of the interior we both thought looked interesting. We walked from the bottom of the campus which was on a slight incline. The café front has a bench in the front and is long and narrow upon walking inside. The pictures of the interior looked just like how it did in real life. All of the areas to sit were taken when we arrived and there was a small line formed at the front where you place your order. To place your order, browse the monitor screen and pay. I am beginning to like this way of ordering more and more since we usually get to see the images of the items on the screen with a little description and its pricing up close and I don't feel AS rushed to make a decision - however, it does take away from me being able to ask the staff what they'd recommend, etc. The area after you order to stand -- wasn't too sure where to do that, lol. It felt cramped or like I was in other people's way. The wait didn't seem too long - there was this cool little spinner / art thing I was distracted by that made the time go by. Iced Dirty Matcha Latte - not bad, not super memorable for me to want to go out of my way to go back just for that. Their Hojicha Latte sounded interesting and would try that next. Cute spot if you're in the area or are a student who wants to study or read or catch up with a 1-2 friends (the place is tiny so I wouldn't really recommend it unless you're one of the first there). cute little cafe in the berkeley area. very limited seating but if you do grab a spot people sometimes stay and study here. the service is fairly quick. you order at a kiosk and they'll call your name when your drinks are ready. i liked the matcha and coffee here so i would definitely recommend you give it a try! read more
I didn't believe that a self-proclaimed coffee shop could make the best matcha in Berkeley (RIP Three Tea Bowls pop-up) but I was proven wrong over and over again by Mind Coffee. The matcha here is unreasonably good and fills the void that Three Tea Bowls left behind. Asha Tea House is no competition. When I visit Berkeley, I make a point to come here every time just for their matcha lattes. I have always ordered on Snackpass and grabbed my drink to go, but you are able to place orders in-person. It appears that most people order in advance on Snackpass though, so you may have less of a wait if you do so as well. There isn't much space inside so you may end up having to wait in a tight corner or out on the sidewalk if you place an order in-person. There is a good amount of seating on various bean bags in the cafe. However, every time I have stepped inside, every single seat has been occupied by people studying and working. It seems like you have to arrive early or get lucky if you plan to sit and sip. The interior has always been remarkably clean, especially given how white every surface is. I highly recommend checking out Mind Coffee if you're in Berkeley. They're right next to campus on northside so you can stroll around campus or up to the rose garden with a delicious drink in hand. read more

Dear Mind Coffee, Thank you for introducing me to dirty matcha (matcha latte with a shot of espresso) because holy shit it's SO good. I literally dream about it. This cafe tucked away in northside may be up multiple hills but I'm making that hike just for their dirty matcha. The cafe is small, clean, and has the aesthetic Korean cafe feel. If you are lucky enough to snag a spot, spend an hour chatting with friends or relaxing. You deserve it :) read more
