We visited Minassian-Young today for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised. The Zinfandels were very different. A little more sweet and not super jammy but delicious. We bought 4 bottles and our friends ended up joining. You cannot beat the price. The tasting room has a beautiful views. We will definitely go back.

Minassian-Young's Black Saint Peter? Ava approves. So do I.

I discovered Minassian-Young courtesy of my local Carlsbad wine bar, RELM (look up my review of them). RELM expanded my appreciation of Central Coast wines in general and this Paso winery in particular, and for the time that RELM stocked a Minassian-Young zin, I drank that regularly. So I had to visit from whence such tastiness comes. I've visited the vineyard and tasting room twice while in Paso. It's on the very scenic, narrow, and winding Peachy Canyon road, a road I strongly recommend navigating at the beginning of your wine tasting day, not at the end. The tasting room is on a hilltop with a beautiful view of their vineyard on both sides of the adjacent canyon. The tasting room is dog-friendly, as are the customers and employees... always a bonus! The tasting room hasn't been busy during either visit and the employees are very happy to talk wine, dogs, and all things Paso, making it a very comfortable experience. But back to the wines: the Zins are excellent. I recently started enjoying the Black Saint Peter, a zin blend that's very inky with explosive flavor. A couple bottles came home with me. When in Paso I'll be back again!

Where are you? Some of my favorite wines in the area. Could not get a hold of anyone to do a tasting. Sad!

The wine tasting was great, Eric was our server and he was wonderful, with personality and talkative conversation also explaining the wines that we were tasting, even though he was busy! We wanted to have lunch but wanted to split things, so we didn't overeat! We opted for a salad which was called the winter salad and I'm not much of a salad person, but the salad was terrific, it had seasonal winter fruits with arugula, a light vinaigrette, and a few pomegranate seeds really light and just perfect. We had the burger, which... Was divine. Brioche bun, caramelized, onions, red wine bacon jam and an aïoli. That burger came with fries, which we also split, but both agreed they were the best french fries we've ever had. I do not know how they got them so crisp they were delicious. The views are great. We booked the "wine tasting and lunch", which was a 90 minute experience on their patio ($40). When we arrived, we were greeted with the first wine on the tasting list, which was the Grenache (pretty good, different than what I normally go for). The patio had a nice view of the rolling hills and we could see goats running across them in the distance. The tasting consisted of 4 wines, and we also got a bonus pour. Our host was friendly and knowledgeable, and I really enjoyed the wine selection, especially the "Messer" red. We also ordered lunch, and both my Harvest Salad and Parmesan Fries were very tasty. The grounds were nice, but not quite as breathtaking as some of the other vineyards I've seen in the area. Overall though, a good experience!

Being able to enjoy some of their older vintages this way makes the experience even more special for wine enthusiasts. What I appreciate most about DAOU is how they've managed to maintain a small, family-style atmosphere despite being acquired by a larger company a few years ago. The hospitality still feels personal and genuine. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, not only about the wines themselves but also about the history of the vineyard and the vision behind it. I'm a big fan of this winery and how it has evolved over the years. Between the stunning views, exceptional wines, and welcoming staff, DAOU is always a must-stop whenever visiting Paso Robles.

From the moment we drove in, the experience felt elevated--being greeted with a glass of rosé right at arrival set the tone perfectly. The property itself is stunning, with architecture that feels like a modern twist on a Frank Lloyd Wright design--clean lines, expansive glass walls, and uninterrupted views of the rolling vineyard-covered hills. She shared detailed insights about the wines and the owners, from their background in geology to how they carefully selected this unique property. It made every sip feel intentional and meaningful. And the wine--wow. Easily some of the best we've had in a long time. Every pour was exceptional, but we loved it so much we had to take a couple bottles home--especially the Chardonnay and the Sagacious red blend. Already looking forward to enjoying them again with good friends and great food. This wasn't just a tasting--it was an experience. Highly recommend if you're in Paso Robles.

Chris took wonderful care of us giving us some great information about the wines and guiding on ways to compare the wines. When it comes to wines, we all felt that the winemakers style didnt align with our groups palate. We didn't see what he was trying to show us. Chris mentioned that the wines are better aged but when we aren't seeing the vision out the gates its hard to justify investing in something to lay down for a bit. With all this said I still would encourage everyone reading this to give this boutique winery a chance as its always good to support small business wineries. I was joking that he was hyping up the meal that it better be worth it. Let me just say, he was 100 percent right. The best meal out of all the times I've been..... It didn't take long till our table was ready. Also it was a first time that we were seating outside in the courtyard. Normally it's inside the room once you enter the courtyard. It was a nice Saturday and the weather was great. A nice touch to the beginning of something sweet. There was also another table set up down in the garden area that was utilized as well. Gabby who took are of us that afternoon was the sweetest. The details and explanation of everything was to the tee. Also, this is the second time that I had to mentioned they forgot our little posey of flowers...lol... The small details that we love. Depending on the menu and tasting, the pairing is brought out with each glass. Wine are set up first and pairing followed. This visit, we started off with three pairing. Bacon and leeks strata, amazing by the way. Then the antipasto salad followed by a 4 spice seared duck breast. Wow, just with those three pairing with the wine was excellent. Each wine delicately chosen to match the meal, details on details. Afterwards, the last two paring were brought out. The oven roasted portobello mushrooms and ramen were the last of the pairing accompanied by the wine pair. Just those small tasting alone was excellent. To finish off with the tasting which with members we alway go for the lunch pairing afterwards. A meal with a glass to accommodate the dish. This by far was the best I've had. A 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon paired with black angus filet mignon. Poomes paille, bordelaise, wedge salad of half romaine lettuce with Parmesan, bacon, mini san marzano tomatoes, asparagus, Tokyo turnip, chives and Caesar dressing. Wow, it was fantastic. Everything was excellent as alway and this was another wonderful experience. A first time tasting in the courtyard was great. Gabby was amazing and the sweetest. And the gentlemen checking us in.
