Excellent service. Highly skilled. I live in the Eastbay and driving all the way to the city is worth it! Not too expensive and if you need a garment rushed, she will be more than happy to accomodate you. There is a parking lot right next door. Merry (owner) is very friendly but will not hesitate to tell you if the truth about how something looks. I went to Merry for multiple pair of jeans and dress pants. She also took in many of my jackets. I recently lost weight, therefore all my jackets looked like oversized raincoats. Merry fixed it all! Mina's is a fantastic spot - if you live in the Marina or elsewhere. Very reasonably priced w/ quick turnaround. I've had numerous suits / work pants / coats / jeans tailored at location over the last 3-4 yrs (this review is long overdue!). Places like this are the reason YELP exists - small brick and mortar shops owned by folks who genuinely give a damn about their customer and the quality of their work. Merry, the primary tailor is a sweet, kind lady who has always done fantastic work for me. She always takes the time to chat through what looks best on me and listens carefully. While I have jeans hemmed most regularly, she has taken in pants and jackets for the bf and we've always been very happy with the final product. I have been using Mina's forever (since it was run by a lady all alone) in spite of the hellish parking. I live in Cole Valley so I have to drive there. Their alterations have always been fine. Since a younger woman took it over its staff has grown but the owner is the only one who can measure you for the alterations and the only one there who speaks English. Unfortunately, literally every time I go there now, she is out to lunch and I have to wait. It happened again today even tho I rearranged my schedule and didn't arrive til past 2:15 pm. I am giving up. She needs to get help or she needs to post closing hours for lunch but in the meantime I suggest you not go there unless you have plenty of time to waste. read more

I have used Mina's on a few occasions for pants to be hemmed and taken in at the waist. Across the board, their turn around time is one week. If you really need something sooner, just ask. Great professional service! The other day I went into Mina's to get some pants altered and most people on Union Street are snobs and normally want to get you out of there store asap. Not this place! I had a tailored 3 piece wedding suit from overseas with a jacket that was too long, too baggy, and sleeves too long. It came one week before my wedding and I was desperate for a great tailor. After shopping around at 3 different tailors in the area, include Meifei, and seeing what they were all capable of doing, I went with Jeannie because she was reasonably priced, had quick turnaround time, and was honest with what she could and couldn't do. And man, the results were AMAZING. She took a baggy, oversized, and long suit jacket and turned it into this beautifully fitted, tailored piece. I am a slim, tall guy who has only ever bought custom tailored suits, and she was able to make this suit fit perfectly. She had the whole thing done in two days, was extremely friendly, and costs 40% less (almost $100) than other places I shopped around. I have no doubt she's capable of doing any type or style of alteration, and more importantly, she will give an honest answer about what can and cannot be done to a garment. I asked her to narrow my sleeves but she said it wasn't necessary instead of taking the extra money (and she was right). I'm a customer for life. Would not bother even checking anywhere else if you're looking for an excellent friendly, quick, and honest tailor. read more

Mina took so much time to alter a bridesmaid's dress to my pregnant body. She was so careful and thoughtful, and showed me exactly what she was going to do so I'd be comfortable with the changes. Great tailor! I buy a lot of off the rack menswear and have it tailored. Mina has taken in suits, let out jackets, hemmed pants and patched holes in pants. Good turnaround and the few times I've needed something rushed she's been able to make it happen. You might be able to find cheaper rates, but for something like this cheaper probably isn't better. Good prices and for the quality of work a great value. read more

There is no one better! I've trusted my bridesmaids with their dresses here for our wedding as well as a few last minute alterations to my fiancé's tux (some important jobs!) She knows her craft! I've been going to her for a few years now and could not recommend her and her team more highly. She looks at the material in a mathematical way ensuring every adjustment aligns correctly. She talks you through the process and gives a review of what she plans to do. She is also great with quick turn-arounds no matter how busy she is. I honestly don't know how she does it! :) Best part is that the clothes never feel "altered" - the stitching and handiwork is so perfect that you would think she found out where you purchased it from and went and bought you a new size ;) it's honestly THAT good! Wow what a great workmanship. Mina's tailor studio is a great place to take your high end and low end items. I have a lot of clothes that I purchase on Union Street in SF and they are high end items and the only person that I trust is Mina's tailor studio. I am a short gal and most of the items I buy do not fit me perfectly. I am so glad to have a tailor that tells me how each item is going to fit my body. I not only have a tailor but a consultant. I needed a bridesmaid's dress hemmed, and Jcrew recommended Mina's. They did a fantastic job, so I've had pants taken in and blouses altered here as well. Everything was great.
