I've been going to Marina Cleaners for 14yrs and have spent a significant amount of money during that time as a customer Here's my issue. Roughly 3 1/2 weeks ago two of my husbands Thomas Pink shirts were lost. He exclusively wears Thomas Pink shirts which range from $185 to $225 each. One was In for a minor sleeve repair, the other just laundry. When I went to pick them up they could not be found. I was told at the time by the ladies who were working they'd call me. Archie did call me later that day and assured me they'd be found. One week later, not a single word from anyone. I called and spoke to Archie who informed me he was too busy to speak on the phone so I went there in person an hour or so later. At which time I was informed the shirts were officially lost and had been given to possibly one of a dozen customers. Archie told me he called 4 of 12 and wasn't willing to contact the rest. "That would take too much time". In asking him what solution did he propose Archie offered me $40 for each USED shirt. A statement which was emphasized over and over. USED SHIRTS, USED SHIRTS. Archie became irritable saying "a judge will never give you more money than that". I was in shock to say the least, now he is ready to go to court?? Really? My counter proposal was a $150 credit to which Archie vehemently refused. Oddly enough, a kind customer returned the shirts to Marin Cleaners yesterday. And that's amazing. But I will NEVER be a customer of Marina Cleaners again. After 14 yrs I was treated like cattle. Just shameful all around. **Nearly TWO years later and I've never gone back to Marina Cleaners. They ruined a blanket I dropped off for cleaning, along with other clothing items, and the manager yelled, called me derogatory names and followed me out of the store after I questioned whether I should be charged full price/at all for the blanket. The blanket was hand-woven in Turkey and is not replaceable. Please avoid them. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS David conducted an investigation when we called to track down an overdue delivery. His verdict: A Marina Cleaners worker became confused and delivered our clothing to the wrong address. David was confident he'd be able to locate our items, but soon stopped returning phone calls. He ultimately deferred to Archie, the owner, who was on vacation. When Archie returned to San Francisco, he left a voice message saying the delivery had been left at our door, and the loss was our responsibility, not his. UPDATE: They charged my credit card for cleaning the clothes they lost. UPDATE 08 July: Marina Cleaners has not responded to multiple letters, including a certified letter, requesting a reimbursement for our lost items. However, a neighbor located my dry cleaning in the back of his closet and notified us today. Marina Cleaners had, in fact, left our clothing at the wrong address. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR LEATHER CLEANED HERE! I just picked up my leather jacket (which used to be soft as butter) and it is stiff, shrunk, and the color completely splotchy. The owner tried to tell me it was the manufacturers problem and nothing he could control. He then continued to show me other leather jackets he had ruined and his plan to "fix" them. AVOID this dry cleaners. This is the first time I've ever posted any review on ANY public website, but the piss poor experience I had today at Marina Cleaners pushed me to post. I decided to try out a new cleaner for sake of convenience. As a trial run I dropped off three items, a blouse, skirt and short sleeved jacket. The first indication this was perhaps a bad idea was my sticker shock when I was told the total was $23. I said, "wow that's expensive." After which the woman behind the counter openly agreed that it was! I figured I'd go through with it anyway, because if they were good, it would be worth the money. Today I picked up my items and reviewed the work briefly while paying. The shirt's hemline looked misshapen and upon closer inspection noticed a number snagged/pulled threads. The pattern at the bottom of the blouse was ruined. I brought it to their attention and they wouldn't do a thing. The owner reviewed the shirt, denied they had anything to do with the damage and told me it was like that when I dropped it off. He was scrambling for excuses, but denied any wrongdoing. When I told him this was not a good first impression as this was my first visit to his business he had the nerve to tell me to go back to my old dry cleaners. He said, "This was your first and last." Complete disregard for his customers. Unacceptable! Take some ownership of your mistakes and treat your customers with respect. read more

Update as of 1/27/15. I never heard anything back from Archie at Marina Cleaners for ruining my leather jacket. One star rating remains; would give zero stars. I discovered FOG CITY LEATHERS on Union St. and they were incredible. Please see my review for them. In short, the jacket is now pristine and fixed all the horrible things Archie did to it. It took about 1.5 months to get the leather jacket cleaned and fixed through Fog City Leathers but absolutely worth the wait. Cost was $125. read more

I've been giving these guys my business on and off for nearly 10 years and have never had a disappointment with their dry cleaning services. If I don't trust myself with cleaning something, I give it to these guys. Archie usually greets me by name, and the service is quick and efficient. Prices are creeping up over the years, but that's life. They're work is always done on time and staff friendly. I'll use these guys until I move away or die. BTW, for those of you who don't know, they can also sew on buttons, or if you ask, they'll go out and find a matching button for you. Not a bad service. After some very negative experiences at other dry cleaners I was in desperate need of a place to take my valuables (clothing) to for cleaning. I turned to Yelp for help and luckily stumbled upon Marina Cleaners. If you are very particular about your clothes and have expensive designer pieces that you want to keep in excellent condition after their trip to the cleaners then I recommend you bring your clothes here. I repeat, THIS IS THE PLACE TO TAKE YOUR NICE DESIGNER CLOTHES. I had this pair of Burberry Prorsum pants that were very tricky to get cleaned given their material (combination of leather and wool), even the store could not recommend a place to take them. Marina Cleaners was very upfront about being careful where I take them, recommended where I should go and had them sent there for me. I really appreciated them not just saying "no, we can't help you" but going out of their way to find a place that could. Yes, the services they provide are not cheap, but I figure it's part of the upkeep cost to having expensive clothing and at least I can rest assured knowing that they're in good hands. read more

Aside from the actual dry cleaning (which was GREAT, just look at the other reviews), the owners are SO nice! My roommate and I were doing our grocery shopping at Safeway across the street and ended up with more than we could carry (per usual). After picking up our dry cleaning on top of that, we must have been a sight to see trying to carry all those bags. After obviously struggling through the pay/pick up process, the owner actually came running down the block with extra bags he had on hand for us since he heard one of ours rip, and then proceeded to help us re-bag our groceries! We're in town on vacation and wanted a quick and cost efficient way to get our clothes clean as getting it done through the hotel was ridiculously expensive. Marina cleaners is only a short ride away. The wonderful people in there were able to get our clothes cleaned for us the same day. When we went in to pick up our clothes, they were packaged nicely in paper and she put them in large plastic bags for us as we didn't have laundry bags. We had a short fun conversation with the employee's of the shop, they are super friendly!! A weeks work of clothes for 2 people only ran us $20. RUINED CLOTHING - NO ACCOUNTABILITY What many others have said: overpriced, poor workmanship/will ruin your clothes, and terrible customer service and business practice. After years of taking my clothes to Marina Cleaners and spending thousands of dollars here, my wife had an expensive new garment ruined here (dropped off white and returned yellow). The owner, Archie, took zero accountability for the degradation of the garment, and tried to give us a lecture on what he calls "science" and said it was the garment's fault - not theirs. He has offered absolutely no apology, no replacement of the garment, or even a dry-cleaning credit. When I brought to his attention that he has many reviews noting his horrible customer service and lack of accountability for destroyed garments, he said he's aware and doesn't care because "no one knows as much about dry cleaning as [he] does". Archie made it very clear, he "doesn't care whether customers spend $5 or $1M at Marina Cleaners, [he] never will provide compensation of any kind unless it's scientifically proven" that they caused the flaw. I had an awesome experience with Marina Cleaners, specifically Archie. My family is from San Francisco, and I moved out to NYC in 2017. I sent for my Mom this past June and moved her out here to be closer to me. Nearing winter, she realized that she left a nice wool coat at the cleaners there. Not only did Archie allow me to pay over the phone, but he went above and beyond the call of duty by sending her coat out to us here taking the extra time and effort for personalized service. I wish I would have read the reviews on this establishment before trusting them with my clothes and valuables. I also would give Marina Cleaners a zero....a negative if I could. I needed to get my Louis Vuitton bag cleaned. I love the bag, use it all the time and the bag shows the love as it has stains inside and what not...I would never say it was in great shape; however, there was never a tear through the leather to expose the lining and that is what I found when I picked up my bag after Archie cleaned it at Marina Cleaners. I must say that until this experience, I had only had good ones at Marina Cleaners. Archie has a great staff and they are always nice. And because of this I was very sure that the situation would be treated in a business-like manner where the bag would be replaced or that we would split the cost of a replacement. I for sure did not expect that Archie would not accept any responsibility and then refuse to give me my bag back unless I PAID for the service...he wanted me to pay for the service that ruined the exterior--cannot comprehend!!! He was so disrespectful and unprofessional...so disappointing. At the end, I had to pay for the service or Archie told me "he would throw the bag in the trash" and he needed me to pay to ensure I wouldn't sue as the payment means I was ok with the service. Let's be clear. The bag was $1600. The service was $35. I paid it. I am pissed. I would tell you to not go to this establishment as Archie is unprofessional and clearly does not have the insurance or processes in place to ensure that customers are protected when something goes wrong. read more

Wow, when you go to a place on a recommendation from a friend you expect a little better service especially when you tell them they were recommended. Really upset with the alterations I had done. I had a simple hem done on 2 pairs of jeans, keeping the original hem. This is standard and most places charge $7 maybe $10 bucks for this. This place charges $$TWENTY for ONE pair! That's mad money! None the less, I was already there and had been sitting on these jeans for awhile so I figured what the heck. HUGE regret. The place couldn't have them ready for me for 5 days and then when I did get them, one of the jeans was hemmed significantly shorter than the other. Fine...very annoyed but expected it would be taken care of immediately. Nope, had to wait to hear back from the sewer when she would have time to fix and if it could even be fixed. Finally heard back that she could fix it but only half of what I wanted. Expecting to be offered a discount or some kind of fair compensation, I got nothing. I had to actually ask and the guy responded back with "what for?" REALLY?! Cmon!!! I explained that not only were they overpriced but I had been waiting a week and a half and it couldn't be fixed to what I wanted. And he said he would have to ask but they usually don't. Went to pick them up today, fully expecting that I would be getting some kind of credit. NOPE, I was told that the reason they charge what they do is that they will keep fixing it until they get it right and that's their guarantee. Guarantee, my big toe! Final word....DO NOT go to these jokers! They are overpriced and give themselves way too much credit for mediocre skills and service. I simply asked them to take the pleat out oc it looked awful and send me my shirt. That was over 3 months ago. Still no shirt and I call every other day hey tell me they will send it. They also were able to spot clean a fancy dress for about $25 when the French cleaners wanted to charge me $50+. They have great service, nice people. Beautiful job on my wedding gown! And reasonably priced too. My seamstress forgot to bussle my dress(Idiot...but thats another review) so my dress dragged on the grass, dirt and ground all day. On top of that it was 100 degrees. So there was pleanty of sweat and spilled drinks mixed with the dirt. I couldn't believe when I got it back how spotless it was. I thought it would be stained forever. Also, they will let you see it before it is boxed if you request it and they double box it with the inner box having a see through window so you know your dress is in there. I would definitely recommend this place for the cleaning and preserving of your wedding gown. read more
