Awful experience. NEVER GO HERE. Took a dress to get altered three weeks ago and I went to pick it up and it was not done at all pins were still on the dress. Went to pick up the next day and it was done so sloppy called to let her know I was unhappy and wanted a partial refund because I'm going to have to get this dress fixed while I'm abroad. She proceeded to yell at me for 20 minutes refusing and telling me all I wanted was money. So unprofessional. read more

I was nervous to get my dress altered because I wanted to make a custom 2 piece from a long knit gown I wore last summer! Let's just say they did a great job and were so exact with all of my requests and measurements. Make sure to go with plenty of time because they are busy. It took 4 weeks. read more

Absolutely terrible! If I could give zero stars I would. Bought in a bridesmaid dress to be hemmed. Also brought in a mother of the bride dress to be hemmed-she charged outrageous prices and both dresses are still too long. So disappointing. I even asked her to double check when she was marking the dress to make sure it would not be too long. read more

Betty is the BEST!!! I've had many items altered by her and they have all been fantastic, so once I found my wedding dress I knew I wanted Betty to do the alterations. I bought a sample dress from Bridal Breeze also on Union St. I got a few different quotes for alterations based on their recommendations and Betty's was by far the most reasonable. She was so patient with me. I had 3 different fittings with her and she nailed it. The day before I left town for the wedding I had asked her to make it a little bit tighter on top. She was so kind to do it for me in a pinch and it was ready right on time. She did everything exactly as I wanted it and helped me see the vision along the way. She works so hard and is truly magical at what she does. My dress had several snags in the fabric from the store, but Betty got them all out. It looked brand new! Whatever quote you get from her is 1000% worth the service. I got so many compliments on the fit of my dress! read more

The best tailor in town. I visited Betty probably 9 times after dropping off my very difficult wedding dress because I dropped 2-3 sizes down since I bought my dress. Betty made my dress look better than before with such attention to detail. Her craftsmanship as a seamstress was a true work of art. I think most wedding dress alterations now cost almost as much as the dress, but her prices were fair and reasonable. Definitely going back for everything else read more

2 jeans - $45 each for waist in, $25 each for hem 1 shirt - $45 sides in, $30 for sleeve shortening Nice lady, but I don't think her work is worth the price for these more basic services (I can't speak on the bridal services which people seem to love). 1. The waist-in done for the jeans and bringing the sides in on the shirt were all done well and I love putting those pieces on because they fit great. 2. For jeans, she doesn't tailor to YOUR length. She cuts them the same length, rather than tailoring it so they finish with the same breakage. One of my jeans had a leg that broke/bunched up noticeably more than the other leg. 3. There was no offer to finish the jean hemming with the original hemming. To compare, I got a different pair of jeans hemmed elsewhere for $20 and an extra $5 to keep the original hemming. 4. She threw in some buttons for free and apparently discounted the sleeves (which still ended up being $30) because I also brought in jeans. 5. While the sizing on the shirt was great, there were some stitchings hanging off both the lining on the sides and on the sleeve. 6. She tried to charge someone $60 for the sizing when they wanted time to think about the pricing, without mentioning the charge beforehand. Eventually let it go. If you come here and want her services, don't let her rush you or guilt you since she "already did all the sizings." Edit: added picture read more

I brought my suit in for alterations. She made some poor judgment calls on what needs fixing - now it fits worse than when I brought it in. This took about 3 weeks to do, and was not cheap. The pants were good, but I would definitely not recommend for men's tailoring. read more

First time I got an alteration here was for my bridesmaid dress. She hemmed about 3 inches and it was $78. It was a little steep in pricing but I thought because my dress had a couple layers, maybe it was worth the price. Afterwards I brought a princess polly linen dress to be hemmed. She gave me a receipt that said 6.80 - so I thought that was the price. When I picked up my dress, I found out the pricing was $68. Which i thought was bizarre considering it was a one layer linen dress. The hemming cost more than what I paid for the dress itself - lol! I could have taken a sewing class and it would have been cheaper than what I paid. Quality was ok. It wasn't anything spectacular that justified the cost. read more

I got a bridesmaid dress hemmed here and it was very straightforward. She pinned the dress quickly and it was ready the day she said it would be. Went to two other places to fix my dress (both failed) until I landed on Betty--who is a fierce expert in the game. She's also transparent with how she will construct the dress and honest about what is required. The price is right too. Can't beat this place! My husband got me a dress as a gift and it's made for shorter gals. I'm very tall. The waist was lined around my ribs and was quite painful. Betty was able to take some material from the bottom of my dress and sew it into the mid. Looks beautiful! read more

Would not recommend going there with your wedding dress if you are on a tight schedule. I left my dress a month ago and when I came to pick it up, she even didn't start alterations at all. FYI my wedding is in 7 days and I am leaving for my trip In 3 days!!! Then we rescheduled my pick up for the next day. The next day in the morning she calls me and asks "did you want to cut off the sleeve?" When there was supposed to be just a hook to keep it in place. Made me cancel all of my plans that I scheduled for wedding prep and just threw me off completely. Also, hemline + bustle + cutting the veil costed me $470 Added up 1000% to stress. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I wish I could give zero stars. I hope my review saves another bride from the trauma I had going here. Fine Touch was referred to me by my wedding dress designer and I have since told them to stop referring brides to go here. My wedding dress was nearly ruined and I had to spend the day of my rehearsal dinner getting my dress emergency altered and spending an additional $1,000 on top of what I already paid Betty, which was expensive enough. I dropped off my dress at the beginning of April for my June wedding, which was accepted by the shop as being plenty of time. After having my second fitting in early May, Betty then pushed my dress alterations to the very very last minute and told me I could not pick up my dress until the week of the wedding. The day before the dress was supposed to be finished, I called to confirm it was ready to pickup, which she agreed to. When I arrived at her shop, she had not done any work on the dress since that fitting in May. I then had to drive back and forth to her shop 3 times the week of my wedding which was an hour each way and time I could have spent doing other important things for my wedding week. On the third day, when the dress was still too big, she started screaming at me, and threw my dress onto the chair in the fitting room where I had to fish the dress out from under the train to try it on. She refused to make it fit properly, blaming me and the dress and insisting that my strapless dress needed straps. It wasn't until I broke down in tears in her shop that she stopped screaming at me. After crying in her shop, I had my wedding planner drive up to the shop to try and diffuse the situation, where we both decided that if Betty wasn't going to finish my dress, we just needed to get the dress out of her shop. After paying Betty, we took the dress to another seamstress, who fixed it almost immediately. When we got to the second seamstress, we took the dress out of the bag and noticed that it was snagged in the front and back, there were holes left in the dress that were never sewn back up, the bottom was filthy, and there were tons of pins and needles still in the bottom and a pair of incredibly sharp shears thrown into the bag which thankfully did not rip straight through the fabric on my dress. This was so horrible to experience right before my wedding and honestly ruined my rehearsal dinner for my mom and I due to the stress of it all. Betty was so unprofessional and clearly did not know what she was doing, as it took the second seamstress, who has real bridal experience, 15 minutes to make the dress fit properly. I will never ever recommend going to Fine Touch, especially for something as important as a wedding dress. read more

I got my wedding dress from Lovely Bride and they highly recommended Betty at Fine Touch Alterations. Betty has SO much experience with bridal gowns and her turnaround time was unreal. I had to rush both of my wedding dresses and Betty was able to accommodate times for me to come in on the weekends to pickup the dresses due to my work schedule. Her shop is cozy and allows for a lot of natural light to help see your dress in all its beauty after alterations! I will definitely be returning for other dresses and my husbands suits. read more

I found Fine Touch Alterations through Yelp and I was not disappointed! I had a dress for a wedding that needed to be taken in at the bust. I did a walk in and I was able to try on the dress and show the seamstress exactly how I wanted it altered. She was able to get it back to me within a week, and in total it cost me $20, which I would say is a fair price. I was very happy with the results and wouldn't hesitate to get other pieces altered here as well. read more
