Great place for authentic Taiwanese food. My parents have been bringing me their bento boxes for years now, but came recently to catch up with a friend. This was during the recent heatwave, so it was pretty empty. I ordered the red grain pork rice. I preferred the one at Monja Taiker, but this one wasn't far off! They provided some kind of sauce on the side but I barely used it. They seem to always have some drink specials, but I was already full. Their lunch specials come with a drink though! Most customers are return customers. You don't see that many new faces here tbh. I should have read yelp review before going there to try it for the first time. To make this short: the owner seems very nice, but the waitress lady was extremely rude. She does not speak English and not even trying. She even told us to "hurry up, lot of customer waiting", while we were still not done. I guess we were not considered a customer then? She only being polite to customer who speaks Chinese. So if you can't speak Chinese, please don't expect to get any kind of service in this place. Although they are not esteemed in the same ways that Japanese bentos are in the popular consciousness, Taiwanese lunch boxes are always that perfect balance of delicious and affordable that always keep me coming back for more. The beef noodle soup is good. I give it an 8 out of 10. I feel like it can use some spice. However, the service is horrendous, most likely because of the language barrier. If you don't speak Mandarin, you will need someone that does to accompany you or call in to order food for you. I've been here twice for pick up and both times were complete failures. I ordered lunch the first time. I picked up my food, got home and opened the bag. To my surprise, the bento box had a huge empty space where my main dish was suppose to be. I'm thinking ...this must be a joke, but how is this funny? So naturally, I called the store to complain and they apologized. They told me they will give it to me the next time I come in. I was fine with that arrangement. When I called in today to reordered the bento that I had paid for previously and a new order of the beef noodle soup, the lady on the phone kept asking me if I wanted extra noodles for the beef soup. I said, "no extra noodles" at least 10 times and mentioned I don't want to get charged extra. Guess what happened when I got there.. ...you guessed correctly. She packed me extra noodles and changed me extra!! As far as the bento box that they owed me, they literally just gave me the main course. Not even a small side of rice to eat with it. On top of that, she kept saying it was free! I ordered the tomato beef noodle soup, stinky tofu, and hot chrysanthemum tea with goji berries and honey. Everything was delicious!! The tomato beef noodle soup broth was on point. I liked how it came with a good amount of bok choy and carrots. It was a well balanced bowl of noodles and they don't skimp on the meat! Stinky tofu was fantastic too. The pickled cabbage that came with it paired perfectly with the tofu. Parking is easy because it's in a plaza with multiple businesses.
