The place is cozy with a lot of cool art on the walls. The staff is great and friendly. There's a bar area where you can sit and you have the chef/cooks cooking and the pizza oven in front of you. Things I tried: *Garlic Knot: it was out of this world! It was so delicious! I could go back just for this! 10/10 *Warm M+O Bread with Olive Oil: 10/10 *Little Gem Caesar Salad: I got it with a side of anchovies because it's a Caesar salad haha. The salad was fresh and crisp! 9/10 *Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle: 10/10 my favorite item of the night! This place was amazing! I was so incredibly impressed. We came here with my kids, and this place is definitely kid friendly. We sat in the backyard patio, and loved it. They have heat lamps and twinkle lights. They have paper and crayons for the kids. Victor was our waiter and he was awesome! So friendly and kind and gave great recommendations Parking: Parking was not bad! Metered parking for 2 hours and ample on a Saturday. Food: We got the chicken meatballs, Arancini, the salad with the fried capers and shrimp, and tagliatelle mushroom dish, corn, margherita pizza. My favorites were the Arancini, anchovy caper salad, and the tagliatelle. The dish that stole the show was the tagliatelle! They can help you and we dinned there and ordered food to take home. They had it hot and ready when we got out check. Milo and Olive uses seasonal, market-driven food which leads to the best ingredients available from local farmers and vendors with sustainable practices. Breakfast has the best handcrafted breads, rustic pastries and morning desserts. They also have a full breakfast men with dishes incorporating a variety of breads, For lunch and dinner they have great salads and pasta. This review is based on a Saturday visit dining at their backyard patio. Why is that important? One of the main reasons I am taking some points off this experience is the setup. They have metal tables and chairs with loud speakers blasting music that echoes throughout the space. Add in loud crowds and kids dropping utensils, and it makes the whole environment pretty unpleasant. As for the food, we ordered the garlic knots, a croissant, the hanger steak, the peach and hot honey pizza, and the wood-fired vanilla bean pound cake for dessert. We covered a good amount of their key items. The main takeaway is that while everything is cooked well, but the dishes really lack flavor. I dine out to get flavors that are not easily made at home, and unfortunately, I did not find them here. The food lacks depth, and frankly, it needs salt to make it stand out. The pizza dough is actually really well prepped, easily as good as Pizzeria Sei, which is the best pizza place in LA, period. But again, it just lacks flavor. Also, as a small side note, there is a 4% employee health insurance surcharge added to the final bill. I probably just missed it listed on the menu somewhere, but oh well. This was good. Went here for a friend's birthday dinner, great place for a celebration! Street parking is super easy in the evenings at least. Staff are attentive and friendly. It has a moody and cozy vibe at night. They kindly gave my friend a free birthday dessert with a candle. We shared several pizzas - Market Veggie, Woodsman, and Peach and Hot Honey. The last one was my personal favorite. We also tried some salads which were very fresh but not as exciting to me personally as pizza (very few salads are). We also tried the vanilla bean pound cake with strawberries which was reminiscent of the classic angel food cake and strawberry combo, but the cake was a dense loaf. Similarly, my partner accidentally ordered a $10 bottle of sparkling water while I was in the bathroom (so be specific about wanting normal water if you don't want to pay!), pizza was pricey and again pretty small. The menu is well-labeled for gluten free and vegan options but I honestly felt like there weren't actually that many of either option. TLDR: if you don't care about money or specific food allergies/preferences, then by all means, come here because it's very cute and decent food. I was searching for a fun birthday lunch spot for a coworker and found Milo & Olive. It turned out to be the perfect choice. I made a reservation for five and when we arrived, a nice table was already set for us. The space has a cute, cozy charm and was bustling the entire time we were there. It is clearly a popular Santa Monica lunch destination. To start, we shared the SPICED MARCONA ALMONDS $9, served warm with olive oil, fennel seed, and chili powder. They were lightly spiced, aromatic, and completely addictive. We also ordered the warm M+O BREAD with extra virgin olive oil and added local burrata for $11. The bread came out perfectly warm with a crisp crust and soft interior, and the creamy burrata paired beautifully with the rich olive oil. Next, we ordered the MILO CHOPPED salad $25 to share among the five of us. It is packed with pepperoni, pickled chili, olives, red onion, fresh mozzarella, garbanzo beans, cucumber, and red wine vinaigrette. The salad was generous in size and hearty enough to split, with bold flavors from the pepperoni and pickled chili balanced by the freshness of the vegetables and mozzarella. For our mains, we chose two pizzas to share. The WOODSMAN PIZZA $31 features tomato sauce, wild mushrooms, housemade sausage, mozzarella, and chives. It was savory and earthy, with the mushrooms and sausage adding great depth of flavor. We also ordered the MARGHERITA $25 with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil. It was simple, classic, and beautifully executed. Both pizzas had thin, crisp crusts with just the right amount of chew and high quality ingredients that really stood out. We wrapped up with freshly made coffee drinks, which were smooth and well crafted, a perfect ending to the celebration. The service was quiet, unobtrusive, and attentive throughout our meal. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The food quality was excellent and the pricing felt fair for what you receive. This place has been on my list for years and I finally got to try it out this week! My husband and I walked in without reservations, but the hostess found a table for us to sit at without a wait. We tried the Garlic Knot, Crispy Chicken Milanese, Pappardelle Bolognese, and Pepperoni + Mushrooms pizza. The garlic knot was nicely baked--crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I would've preferred for the garlic to be softer and almost spreadable, but I like how unique the dish is. The chicken had a crispy breading, but simply tasted salty. Overall, every dish seemed to be made well in terms of texture, but for some reason they all lacked a good balance of flavors. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The food came out with the proper timing. We got the garlic knot as an appetizer and this was our first having a TRUE garlic knot. The whole head of garlic was inside and the tomato sauce it paired with was delightful. We had 10:45AM reservations for brunch and it was good. It wasn't crowded on Saturday mid morning. I would say it was only about half full. Street parking wasn't bad, but you might have to park a few blocks away. First thing you notices is they have small good looking casing of pastries. The pastries look very tasty. We'll probably just need to get pastries next time. My overall experience doesn't leave me to return. We got the French omelet which was just okay, polenta fries which were worth ordering again and a hot skillet dish which was just okay. Our server was nice but the first person who came to take our order wasn't so sincere in his service. So 4 stars for the service and 4 stars for the food. I almost want to give it 3 stars since the bathroom didn't have paper towel. Which to me shows a lack of attention. I hope the staff were washing their hands. read more

It was a nice surprise to see a Michelin 2025 at the entrance and it did not disappoint. Despite only ordering two dishes, the quality was outstanding. The mushroom tagliatelle and the milo salad. The flavor of the pasta was on point. I enjoyed the razor thinness of the mushroom and the delicate shavings of the cheese on top. The razor thin lime in the hibiscus lime soda was perfect. I appreciate these minute but essential details that elevate cooking. Salad was big enough for four or five. Excellently tossed with multiple layers. Didn't get to order the pizza but that would be for the next visit. The only irk is the 4% "health" charge. This doesn't work as it only lessens the tip. I guess some customers don't notice but I'm sure some do also. When restaurant do these kinds of thing, I just drastically tip significantly less. My mom brought me here for brunch last weekend (til 3pm Sat & Sun) and we were both pleased with our experience. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away at one of their tall tables by the pizza oven. We discovered afterwards that there's a lovely little outdoor patio out back. Maybe they were full when we arrived and so it wasn't an option for us, but it looks like a nice place to enjoy a meal. The Quinoa Salad (snap peas, pickled red onion, avocado, goat cheese, chicory, arugula, jammy egg, lemon vinaigrette) is not something I'd normally order for breakfast, but it sounded good and tasted incredible. Solid choice. My mom had the Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe and said it was exactly what she'd wanted. My cortado was okay though a little flat and not enough froth. My first visit here and it didn't disappoint. Everything on the menu looked amazing so I decided to create myself a small tasting menu. I got the arancini's to start and they were fantastic, followed by their special chicory Caesar salad with anchovy dressing, which was to die for.
