Lovely place for great pizza & great service. From the outside, you wouldn't expect it to be a really chill, relaxing vibe type of place with open kitchen and great place of local neighborhood organic ingredients joint. Very organic kid's drawing pics hanging throughout the place, it doesn't look out of place but more of family & neighborhood feeling kind of place. It's an all day place with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Got here between breakfast & lunch and both menu looks fantastic. Want to order them all but settled for pizzas and salad & of course lemonchello spitz. Great pizza dough and the ingredients are fresh and you can see and taste it that it makes with love for sure. Salad was good abit blanched for me but was focusing on the pizza so...very well make and well cook in the wood fired oven. The pastries look delish and smell fantastic. Service was attentive and friendly, no rush but chill vibe type of service. Prices wise, for 2 pizzas, a cocktail, and a salad and with tip...$150. Parking can be a hassle but if you are willing to walk a little, free neighborhood street parking or if you can find parking within 200feets, then it will be paid street parking or paid garage parking nearby. Still thinking of their pizzas, yum!
This place was amazing! I was so incredibly impressed. We came here with my kids, and this place is definitely kid friendly. We sat in the backyard patio, and loved it. They have heat lamps and twinkle lights. They have paper and crayons for the kids. Victor was our waiter and he was awesome! So friendly and kind and gave great recommendations Parking: Parking was not bad! Metered parking for 2 hours and ample on a Saturday. Food: We got the chicken meatballs, Arancini, the salad with the fried capers and shrimp, and tagliatelle mushroom dish, corn, margherita pizza. My favorites were the Arancini, anchovy caper salad, and the tagliatelle. The dish that stole the show was the tagliatelle! It was AMAZING! the pasta was honestly the best I've had and I've had some amazing pasta. I will hands down be back!
Milo and Olive is great for many things. It is a bakery, a great to go selection and breakfast, lunch and dinner. We love it. Parking is not my idea of fun, but that is okay. The service is great. They can help you and we dinned there and ordered food to take home. They had it hot and ready when we got out check. Milo and Olive uses seasonal, market-driven food which leads to the best ingredients available from local farmers and vendors with sustainable practices. Breakfast has the best handcrafted breads, rustic pastries and morning desserts. They also have a full breakfast men with dishes incorporating a variety of breads, For lunch and dinner they have great salads and pasta. They also have great pizza and I wish we had gotten an extra to take home. Next time we will. You will enjoy this place.
This review is based on a Saturday visit dining at their backyard patio. Why is that important? One of the main reasons I am taking some points off this experience is the setup. They have metal tables and chairs with loud speakers blasting music that echoes throughout the space. Add in loud crowds and kids dropping utensils, and it makes the whole environment pretty unpleasant. As for the food, we ordered the garlic knots, a croissant, the hanger steak, the peach and hot honey pizza, and the wood-fired vanilla bean pound cake for dessert. We covered a good amount of their key items. The main takeaway is that while everything is cooked well, but the dishes really lack flavor. I dine out to get flavors that are not easily made at home, and unfortunately, I did not find them here. The food lacks depth, and frankly, it needs salt to make it stand out. The pizza dough is actually really well prepped, easily as good as Pizzeria Sei, which is the best pizza place in LA, period. But again, it just lacks flavor. Also, as a small side note, there is a 4% employee health insurance surcharge added to the final bill. I probably just missed it listed on the menu somewhere, but oh well. Overall, it is a decent place, but I would not go out of my way to come back here.
Im a big Italian food lover and the pasta was great! Literally to almost perfection! The quality of the food was amazing, you can tell they take passion in making sure all the food is made with fresh produce. We were seated in the outside patio and the environment was warming. Plants, fresh, breeze, old school pizza machines. Such a good vibe.
I had such a mixed but ultimately great experience at Milo & Olive. The food? Honestly incredible. Everything we ordered was packed with flavor and felt really thoughtfully made. The Diavola pizza I ended up choosing was so good--perfect balance of spice, richness, and that classic wood-fired taste. The bolognese was super authentic and just oozing with flavor, and the Caesar salad totally surprised me--in the best way. It had these tiny crunchy crumbs on top that gave it such a unique texture. BUT I have to mention something that really threw me off. I asked one of the pizza makers which pizza she recommended because I was stuck between a few options, and she paused, looked at me, and said, "I don't really like the pizzas here." I genuinely didn't know how to respond. I even had to double-check with my friend to make sure I heard her correctly. It was such a strange moment... especially because the pizza ended up being amazing. On the flip side, our server was fantastic. Even though she was clearly slammed, she kept checking in and made sure we knew she hadn't forgotten about us. That level of attentiveness goes a long way. Overall: incredible food, great service, but one very confusing interaction. I'd definitely come back..just maybe skip asking the pizza maker for recommendations next time
This was good. Went here for a friend's birthday dinner, great place for a celebration! Street parking is super easy in the evenings at least. Staff are attentive and friendly. It has a moody and cozy vibe at night. They kindly gave my friend a free birthday dessert with a candle. We shared several pizzas - Market Veggie, Woodsman, and Peach and Hot Honey. The last one was my personal favorite. We also tried some salads which were very fresh but not as exciting to me personally as pizza (very few salads are). We also tried the vanilla bean pound cake with strawberries which was reminiscent of the classic angel food cake and strawberry combo, but the cake was a dense loaf. Leans on the higher end for pizza spots both in price but also quality.
Amazing pizzas. It makes sense why this place exists. It's there to fulfill your pizza desires. Don't worry, you'll get some veggies, too. The salads are killer. Loved the chunks of pepperoni in the salad because why not? Espresso martini hit the spot. Gave me a boost and a feel good vibe. Just what I needed. Service will be top notch. Not sure on which pizzas just ask. That's what we did.
Milo and Olive is a lovely brunch spot with ample street parking (pay by the hour). They have off-menu items at times, and during brekafast, the three-cheese omelette was it for the day. I enjoyed that with an iced latte, and it was simply delicious. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient, though it did take the staff a bit to welcome me in. I ended up waiting out at the front; perhaps they thought I was planning to order coffee. The three-cheese omelette was a light meal. Imagine three cheeses and scrambled eggs, except make it milky, fluffy, and light. That's exactly what it was, a light meal paired with fresh greens. The iced lattes here are great, too. It was neither too dark nor too light, and the creaminess was good, too. It does get a water if you like to take your time, but it was otherwise a very enjoyable drink. So much so that I had to return for seconds an hour later!
Why am I having to pay for the restaurant's employees health insurance? For this they get 3 stars.

Intimate dining in Brentwood. The food is very overpriced with limited options. I was craving pizza, but unfortunately when I went, there weren't many options that had a lot of meat. The pasta I ordered was very delicious and small. This place does seem quite popular with folks as it's a nice dress-up dinner place. Service of the place was great. I have no complaints there. There is plenty of street parking available. Overall, this place would be good for the ambience and pictures.
Absolutely amazing! I always drove past this restaurant peaking in every time, I'm so happy I finally made it inside! I cannot express how incredibly delicious, fresh, and beautiful this restaurant is!! The food am amazing, the pastry to die for I'm usually not a sweets person, but my friend & I shared a small dessert & I found myself wanting to order another one. The pastry was light, fluffy, not too sweet, tasted home made in my grandmas kitchen I cannot wait to come again and try something different. The service was attentive & we were sat at the bar next to where we can watch our food being made.
There's so many spot that you just don't know about and this is one of them. I didn't know about it in my case...lol... We were meeting some friends for a little birthday lunch and this was the chosen spot. Just along Wilshire, which you could miss if you're not looking for it. Street parking, not sure if there's a lot. Clean storefront but once you walk inside, it's a cute bakery and restaurant. Theres also a patio out back which we didn't see. The place is quite beautiful. Well decorated with a nice clean modern touch to it. Walk through the door and you're greeted with the hostess which is also connected to the bakery. The smell of fresh baked goods and coffee, nice. To one side of the restaurant is the kitchen. There's seating along the bar area if you want that chefs table vibe. Restaurant isn't too big so seating can get a little cramped. We were there for a friend's birthday which this was an amazing recommendation. Lunch menu is somewhat small but let me just say everything sounded amazing. Also the drink list was quite nice too. Food wise, started off with the arancini with homemade tomatoes sauce and Parmesan. Small bites but quite nice and tasty. Good for sharing. Then straight to the entrees. Oh lunch and dinner is somewhat similar as some things are removed and added to the menu. The steak salad with arugula, salanova, pecorino, avocado, cucumber with red wine vinaigrette. Wow, the presentation alone was beautiful and the taste, superb. I highly recommend this dish. It's decent size for one but also great for sharing. Then you have the burrata and prosciutto pizza with tomato sauce, arugula, olive oil, and sea salt. Nice wood oven thin crust pizza that was tasty. Great as an entree or perfect for sharing. Lastly the chicken malenese. Simple yet so good with a nice thin breaded chicken cooked perfectly. And then topped with a massive heaping of arugula and shaved Parmesan cheese and lemon vinaigrette. A classic dish that so good. Very light as well. Of course as it was a birthday lunch, dessert was had. The vanilla bean pound cake with berries and cream with the orange blossom honey on the side. And the affogato, both were delicious and a nice little treat after a hearty meal. Daria was the one that took care of us. First off let me say she was amazing. There was a little this and that and that on the side with ordering with one of the guest. But she took it like a champ and was accommodating and sweet. Made sure we were well taking cared of and checked on us often to see if there was anything else we needed. Amazing customer service and just an absolute doll overall. It was a first for all of us and the meal was excellent. From service to food, it was top notch. Now we just need to make a trip back for dinner and try the patio. There's an episode of "Conan Without Borders" in Israel where he complains to the Waze people about the directions they give to his family's favorite place to eat in Santa Monica, Milo and Olive. Being a Conan fanatic, I made a pilgrimage here. I came on a Friday around lunch without a reservation. There was only 1 person ahead of me in line and I was immediately seated at the counter. The decorations are casual with an eclectic mix of hand drawn art on the walls. The rest of the restaurant is contemporary and clean. One of the advantages of sitting at the counter is that you can watch them make pizzas right in front of you since it's an open kitchen. Instead of staring at my phone since I wanted to soak everything in, I watched someone stretch and round out a pizza and then stick it into a wood burning oven. As a vegetarian, I'm glad that there were dishes with V's next to them. There are also dishes you can ask to be made vegetarian. I ordered a garlic knot and a market veggie pizza. I had never seen a garlic knot like that before. The ones I've seen are a piece of bread folded to look like a knot. Over here, they fill dough with cloves of garlic then literally tie it up with a piece of string, like when I got home with some leftovers, I had to figure out how to untie it. At the restaurant, it came out steaming hot, crispy on the outside, and soft and juicy in the inside. My waiter was accommodating when I asked for some ingredients to be removed from my pizza. When it came out, it looked so colorful. The dough was thin and the ingredients were really flavorful. As I was eating it, I actually thought to myself "Oh, this is divine" and even when I was eating leftovers I thought to myself "This is so yummy." On the pizza box for leftovers, it instructs you to reheat it directly on the rack in the oven. It works, however, since the dough is thin, the pointed end of a pizza slice flopped down and dropped a few ingredients to the bottom of my oven. I was worried about parking, but easily found a metered spot on Harvard St. It was only when I was leaving that I realized if I had driven a little further down, I could've found spots in front of houses without meters. You can pay the meters by text which is convenient because you can add more time on your phone if you need to. It is a bit expensive since I paid around $50 with tip for the 2 items I ordered, but as long as I have leftovers, I don't feel too bad about it. read more
Came here for dinner before a show and so glad I did! My group was lucky enough to get seated right away with no reservation! That was awesome from the host to squeeze us in. The place is cozy with a lot of cool art on the walls. The staff is great and friendly. There's a bar area where you can sit and you have the chef/cooks cooking and the pizza oven in front of you. Things I tried: *Garlic Knot: it was out of this world! It was so delicious! I could go back just for this! 10/10 *Warm M+O Bread with Olive Oil: 10/10 *Little Gem Caesar Salad: I got it with a side of anchovies because it's a Caesar salad haha. The salad was fresh and crisp! 9/10 *Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle: 10/10 my favorite item of the night! Pasta was cooked perfectly and the mushrooms were just the cherry on top! *Rigatoni Bolognese: 6/10. Pasta was cooked perfectly but I wasn't a fan of the sauce. *Diavola Pizza: 8/10 it's not spicy but it's good lol. Crust is so airy and crispy! *Peach + Hot Honey: 10/10! What a special combination of peaches, Parmesan & Prosciutto! *Besito Drink: 10/10 *Tiramisu: 9/10 I'm a sucker for Tiramisu and this one is good! Milo + Olive is one of those places that completely surprises you. From the outside, it's very unsuspecting but once you step in, it's quaint, cozy, and always buzzing in the best way. The menu is consistently great across the board. The pizzas and pastas never miss, the desserts are genuinely yummy, and the cocktails are finely crafted and well balanced. Honestly, I can't think of a single bad meal or item I've had here. Service is always friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better. Definitely plan ahead and make a reservation because it gets busy for good reason. Street parking only, but it's worth the extra effort. A go-to brunch spot when I want to splurge! The pizzas are incredible here and so are some of the other brunch dishes. I've gotten the Breakfast pizza, the garlic knot (amazing!), the chopped salad and a breakfast polenta. Everything is always top-notch -- including the coffee. The patio is also wonderful if the inside is full or gets too loud. A must-visit in Santa Monica! Just a heads up that parking can be challenging during certain times of the day. read more
Pros: super cute ambiance outside with the patio and twinkle lights, the inside looked very moody/romantic; server was super nice; food came out quickly; the GF veggie pizza without cheese (to make vegan) was really tasty Cons: the $21 peach-tomato salad literally had one tomato (or less) and one peach's worth of fruit. It was so tiny. Great flavors but ouch on price. Similarly, my partner accidentally ordered a $10 bottle of sparkling water while I was in the bathroom (so be specific about wanting normal water if you don't want to pay!), pizza was pricey and again pretty small. The menu is well-labeled for gluten free and vegan options but I honestly felt like there weren't actually that many of either option. TLDR: if you don't care about money or specific food allergies/preferences, then by all means, come here because it's very cute and decent food. If you want vegan protein options and/or higher value food (ie more reasonably priced), I'd skip. read more

It has an easy going vibe inside. We got the following items and they were all ok. Nothing really stood out. Service was non-existent. I think the busser was my waiter. He didn't talk to me, except when he told me that I couldn't sit at a four top/high top (although they were 20 minutes from lunch service ending) and only 2 other occupied tables in the dining room. Food was ok. I spent $40 on a medium size plate of rigatoni and tap water. Meh. Won't go back because of the service. read more

I admit, I've avoided this spot because it felt overly hyped. However, I've now repented of my ways. It was great. I get what people are talking about. 1- I didn't realize they had a counter/bar height seating. I love this. 2- The execution of the food is impeccable. It's so hard to find a good omelette that's cooked perfectly, isn't burned, isn't too thick... they do this French omelette right. The service was great. The staff is friendly. This place has been on my list for years and I finally got to try it out this week! My husband and I walked in without reservations, but the hostess found a table for us to sit at without a wait. We tried the Garlic Knot, Crispy Chicken Milanese, Pappardelle Bolognese, and Pepperoni + Mushrooms pizza. The garlic knot was nicely baked--crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I would've preferred for the garlic to be softer and almost spreadable, but I like how unique the dish is. The chicken had a crispy breading, but simply tasted salty. Overall, every dish seemed to be made well in terms of texture, but for some reason they all lacked a good balance of flavors. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The food came out with the proper timing. Milo & Olive serves one of the best mushroom pizzas in Los Angeles. The mushroom pie is outstanding and easily the star of the menu. The flavors are rich, balanced, and the crust is done beautifully. It is one of those pizzas that keeps you coming back for another slice. Pair it with a giant garlic knot and a salad and you have the perfect meal. This place feels a bit underrated in the LA pizza conversation, but it absolutely belongs in the top tier. read more

Came here on a Friday night for dinner with my partners and I think it's my favorite italian place on the west side so far! We got the garlic knot as an appetizer and this was our first having a TRUE garlic knot. The whole head of garlic was inside and the tomato sauce it paired with was delightful. We shared the mushroom and pepperoni pizza -- super yummy for all of us mushroom lovers and the papperdelle bolognese (not pictured)-- I LOVED it. I would back just for this. We had their pound cake for dessert and it was a nice sweet and caramel taste. Parking was easy along the street. We walked in around 6 pm and there were plenty of tables! read more

This was our first time visiting, and it definitely won't be our last--we're already willing to make the drive again soon. From the friendly service to the perfectly made drinks and delicious meal, everything was spot-on. I had the Besito cocktail, which was so refreshing I finished it way too fast! Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Cozy italian restaurant in santa monica! Hubby and I came from the pier and wanted a little snack before heading home and he wanted me to try their famous garlic knot! It was my first time and omg it was soo yummy. Slit the knot open and you'll see both white and black garlic oozing out. There was plenty of whole garlic confit in the knot and I got a bowl of tomato sauce on the side with calabrian chili oil and it was the perfect way to end our night. Just note the sauce and chili oil will add $8 to your bill. We also split an M+O salad and hubby liked it. I'll def be back for the garlic knot!!! read more
