Today I am broken hearted, as I don't believe I will ever be returning to Milly's again. After SEVERAL years of eating here and LOVING it, so much so, I've introduced the restaurant to about 7-10 of my friends and always recommend it to my out of town friends today I was disappointed.
I always order the same simple meal. I always order and have always ordered it that they even know me by face and meal. Every time, every waiter, every waitress (it's always the same 3-4). They always know exactly what I'll be having. The grilled chicken meal with arroz y habichuela. So simple, right? Why I even come to the Dominican restaurant for it? Well, now I don't know...
Today, I was 3/4 of the way into my meal, when I cut into a piece of uncooked chicken. It had semi-red inside. But it was so small (nothing I've never seen before) that I pushed that one piece off to the side. Then I cut another piece from that same piece of chicken, and there was a huge, red vein. I was immediately turned off and figured I had eaten enough at this point anyway so, I was done. I left it there a while, as my boyfriend ate his chuleta and I contemplated on how to approach the situation. Since, after all, I felt I was a Milly's usual.
Well, the time came, I decided I was going to say something about it (I typically leave these things to chance like, hopefully, they see it and do something about it) but today I decided to take initiative. I called my waitress over, the same woman who always sees's me, someone I WAS fond of, up until I noticed she really must not have any sense of customer service, unfortunately, because I tell her in Spanish, just this... "hey, you know that I love Milly's but, today (and I point to the pieces of bloody chicken) we are a little red... She stood there, looking at the chicken in an untasteful manner, so I said, no need to bring me another one, because as you see I've eaten enough of it so it's fine... and that's when she asked with her hand on plate, ready to remove, "shall I take it away?" I said, yes, please, thank you...
Nothing else happened after this. No recognition about what happened. No apology. No cookie, not even a coffee to say 'sorry for that bloody chicken'. When the check arrived, I told my boyfriend, please look at the check, if we don't even have a SMALL discount or something, I'll never be coming here again. I have brought too much love to this place, and I never even been asked 'hey, when is your birthday? Maybe be gifted a cool Dominican smoothie or a cafecito for being so loyal' but no, we opened the check and nothing, $29.whatever the heck + whatever I'm obviously going to tip (I always tip). So, there you have it, I did'nt finish my meal, which I always finish 4/4 of, I was disgusted by the chicken, I actually said something and nada... Same REGULAR price, STILL no apology for the bloody chicken that literally took my appetite away and so, I paid, I tipped, I took one good look around, and said my goodbyes (inside of my brain.)
I'm honestly saddened because I have always LOVED Milly's and today, as a loyal customer, I did not feel taken care of. Bye Milly's Fam. read more
