As a Dominican New Yorker, I'm always on the hunt for good Dominican food and Milly's did not disappoint. It gives very local mom and pop vibes, super homey and authentic like you're walking into someone's kitchen. It was pretty empty when we went which made it feel even more laid back. The food was so good but just a heads up they do run out of dishes throughout the day. We were hoping for moro but they were out by the time we got there. I ordered the palomilla steak with rice and beans and it came with two maduros which I loved. The steak was super flavorful and tender. We also got the pollo guisado and it was just as delicious, very classic and comforting. Service was really good and the food came out so fast. Everything felt easy and smooth. I will definitely be coming back, this is one of those spots you keep in rotation when you're craving real Dominican food. read more

Had dinner with a small group and really enjoyed the experience. We started with picalonga mixta and for entrees had the chivo, a few mufongos with shrimp, mangu dishes and even con con with habichuelas rojas, lol (or raspita as Cubans call it). We finished with flan, Dominican cake and coffee. Everything was fantastic. The beans/habichuelas reminded me of my mom's (I'm half Dominican) and the food was very authentic overall. Horrible, From the beginning to end i should have took it as a sign when the online ordering wasnt working to not even waste my time. I call first time leave me on hold for over 5 minutes have to call back 5 times just so someone maybe a ghost can actually take my order. She takes my order 5 minutes later calls me and says they dont have what i specifically called for earlier to confirm and dont waste my time . Ok she says 15 min i arrive later than 15 minutes to only have to wait another 15 minutes but my order was completely wrong and the proportion i got of chicharrones was 5 pieces if i wanted to be at downtown miami getting a thumb of food for $100 then i would go there not pay over $40 for food a 2 year old can get full off of. The chef is a woman from the DR with good culinary training and the food is flavorful and tastes like a home cook meal will be in the Dominican Republic. The staff were very friendly and even the chef came to our table to welcome and greet our table. I felt like in La isla. Update: visited on 11/22/22 Still recommend a visit to Milly's if you're visiting the area. This place is a very small mom and pop place but they do have some indoor seating and they have parking as it is in a plaza. While this place may not be the fanciest the food to me is absolutely delicious. There are not many places that know how to make Mofongo and this was the reason why I came back. I brought two friends with me so that they too can experience how delicious the food is. We ordered two orders of Mofongo with Pork Chunks, one order of Mofongo with Pollo a la Plancha, and an avocado salad. Take a look at the pictures I have posted to give you and idea on their servicing size and how good it all looks. I loved this place. Warning, mush post ahead: My wife is Dominican and I havent seen her in a couple months (she lives in our house in Puerto Plata with our son). I was feeling a little homesick, so I sought out some Dominican food. Immediately, I felt right at home. I started with a couple of Quipe, a Presidente and moved on to my Churrasco. This is probably the most authentic Quipe I have eaten outside my own kitchen. Churrasco was well seasoned and tasty. The rice/beans were just like my wife makes. All in all, I walked out feeling a little less homesick and refreshed. Decor and atmosphere is nothing great to speak of, but it is very homey and relaxing. Unfortunately, it was a 2-stars. I had high hopes for this restaurant. I called in advance to make sure they had their mangu and to reserve a table for six. They told me they were going to have mangu so there we went. Once we arrived we ordered two appetizers and all of us ordered a drink only to find out that there was no more mangu(reason we were there and reason I called in advance) and they wouldn't have anymore ready even if we decided to wait an hour or two. We left with no mangu and paying 30ish for drinks and an appetizer. Very disappointing. So that was my first time. After that we decided to give it another try. The second time we did not call in advance and we had the mangu but it was not what I expected. It lacked a little bit of flavor and I wish it had not been so dry. The best part of our meal was our dessert :the Dominican cake; that was good, the rest I can do without. Ever since, I have been making mangu at home. I do not think we will be going back. Visited this restaurant based on yelp reviews and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great! The service was super fast! And the waiters were very attentive. My mother ordered a quipe and the Sancocho, and was very surprised at how good it was. They served her a big bowl with white rice on the side that was seasoned to perfection. We also ordered avocado and they were perfectly ripe. I ordered the shrimp ajillo with a side of rice and beans. The shrimp were huge and also very well seasoned.
