Amazing amazing amazing legit Domimican food. You know when you walk into this place that you're going to get a REAL mangú!!!!

3 stars is just right for this place. Maybe 3.5. The parking is horrible. The food and service are great. Definitely have to go for one of the mofongo options. The mofongo with shrimp or longaniza are the best by far. The drinks are ok so I'd go with just a Presidente and you'll be good to go. They didn't have everything in the menu that day so that sucked. read more

I'm not Dominican but I am from New York and have many Dominican friends/family and I know what a good Dominican plate of food is. If you're here in Miami, look no further! It was FANTASTIC!!! I will definitely be coming back. This place is a hidden gem. read more

This place is great for food , but horrible for Service the two ladies working as waitress are not the best at their job. If you want appetizers they will take 30 mins to have it . Waiting on food almost 40 mins still no food . If you ask about how much longer they will respond in a rude way. I honestly recommend ordering to eat out or call ahead this is ridiculous the amount of time you have to wait to be served. A family arrived at same time and got their food in less time then us. Won't be returning read more

Found this gem in a plaza. From the outside it didn't look so nice but when you walk in it's the cutest place. It's small but super cozy. The staff was very friendly and stopped by the table to talk and see how the food is. I'm so glad we came across this restaurant because we will be definitely be back. I will make the drive to eat here again. read more

Best Dominican food I have ever had! I went to this restaurant on November 12, 2020 around 7:00pm Place was empty so service was great. We order 4 meals -Goat -Steak -pork chucks -fried pork All dishes were amazing monfogo was amazing! Definitely going back With those four dishes we spent about $60 read more

I was in the mood for some Mofongo con camaron( smashed plantains with shrimp). My husband and I didn't feel like eating at the restaurant so we decided to order for pick up. We ordered the mofongo with shrimp, and masitas de puerco(fried pork chunks) served with your choice of salad and sweet fried plantain. So I was told that the order will be ready in 20 minutes. When you get there the place is located in a shopping center that has plenty of parking space. The location of the shopping center is a little rundown but don't be discouraged. When you first walk into the restaurant it feels somewhat dark inside, the reason is because the windows are tinted you could only see from the inside out, they also have music playing that is heard in all of the restaurant. They have many tables and chairs. The restaurant itself is not that big. A lady greeted me and asked me how many people with me. I then told her that I was picking up, she asked me to follow her and handed me my order. The food was so so Delicious, the masas de puerco were cooked to perfection, really tender and the flavor was on point, the sweet plantains were just perfect. The mofongo with shrimp so so delicious as well, everything that we ordered was just perfect, it is a little overpriced but is worth every penny. I will definitely be ordering again from this restaurant. Just the thought of the food makes my mouth water that's how amazingly delicious everything was. Oh by the way the mofongo with shrimp gets you really full, I couldn't finish it all. read more

It had been a while since I ate here. On a recent visit, food quality was not as great as I remember. My family and I used to visit frequent as it was one of the only legit Dominican places in Miami. Mofongo was dry and made with platanos medio maduros "arcojolaos". Same with the tostones. Please use green plantains and add more chicharron. Longaniza was too hard because it was over fried. Carnitas fritas were too salty. Croquetas de bacalo were perfect and so was el asopao de camarones. These two were the winning plates and earned you 3 stars. I'll give you another chance whenever in the area and in the mood. Hope it will be back to previous standard. read more

The mofongo was a bit too dried for my tastes and the chicharron didn't have much flavor to add to it. It taste resemblance is that of tostones. If you like that, then mofongo is for you. The salad is a simple salad you find in inexpensive Latin American restaurants - iceberg lettuce, onions, tomatoes. The churrasco was cut very thin. While flavorful, its thinness proved to be a negative. The beef empanadas were interesting - the dough was made out of yuca, not your typical corn dough or flour dough empanadas. But it didn't quite pack a flavorful punch. A lime wedge helped though, but what really needed help the most was the filling. The pollo al vino was mediocre. It was flavorful and definitely edible, but it was soaked in sauce that I felt like it was more of a cafeteria food than anything else. It looked like it too. The waitress didn't provide a smile, but she provided good service, was patient, informative and helpful in making decisions and suggestions. Overall, very average. However, it's nice to say that there's a Dominican restaurant in Miami. This seems to be a popular one, based on the "wall of fame" that includes pictures of Miss Florida, the mayor, and even a City of Miami's dedication of a day in a year to the restaurant. Quite odd to see a restaurant get a day dedicated. Prices were affordable, the ambience was pretty nice with all the polished wood tables and chairs. read more

Haven't had Dominican food in awhile and haven't been to Milly's in ages. Milly's has been a Dominican staple in Calle ocho for years and the food and flavors haven't changed. Had the pollo al ajillo with rice, beans and avocado. Very good food and satisfied my cravings. The ambiance hasn't changed on the inside of the place as well. Milly's is recognized by many famous people as well especially baseball players and politicians from the homeland. To go along with my meal I had a morir soñando (Die Dreaming) drink which was spot on as well and it's not an alcoholic drink as many would wonder but it's a native traditional Dominican drink that one would have with breakfast or dinner if you like that contains orange juice, condensed milk or regular and a sprinkle of vanilla extract and sugar. The service was good as well. So if you're in the mood for some Dominican food, don't hesitate to give Milly's a try. read more

Wow. Not only was the waitress extremely rude, but she actually seemed PISSED that we walked in and sat down to eat. She rolled her eyes because we spoke english. She acted annoyed that we asked any question of the menu. I ordered a Cubano and she snapped at me that they dont have it. Every time I said thank you she sneered and refused to acknowledge that I spoke. She slammed down our plates and our cups. I've truly never felt more unwelcome in a business. Will never come back. read more

Went to this spot with my grandmother today, we decided to switch it up. I loved the setting at this place, but let's get to the food! We had the tostones with camarones (fried green plantain with shrimp) to start and it didn't disappoint. For the main course I had the salmon with rice, beans and Maduros. Basic plate nothing crazy and it they cooked it perfect. I can definitely see myself coming back to this place read more

Definitely it was the worst decision to pass by this restaurant. I been here a few time , the food was good but overpriced. I came back cause I like the flavor of the Empanadas & the Fry Chicken with rice and beans. The food today was horrible. Not sure if the change the chef and recipes. The employees make me feel so uncomfortable instead of having a friendly welcome environment. Definitely am not going to come back ever again here. Worst service, quality of food & overpriced. read more

WOW!!! This place was awesome. I've never had Dominican food before and boy have I been missing out. I ordered the Mofongo con Longanisa (sausage). Mofongo is a mashed and fried plantain dish that can have various spices, meats, etc. in it. There was so much flavor between the plantain, sausage and the spices. The price was $9.95 which was well worth it for the portion and the deliciousness. The menu is fairly extensive and the prices are reasonable. The ambiance is casual. There are two rooms for seating, one small and the other larger. Parking is a nightmare as it is too near the intersection of Calle Ocho and 27th, but its free. I recommend parking on 29th paying the parking and avoiding the traffic by using the back roads. The service was okay, not great, but not bad. It's solamente en Espanol, either that or she didn't want to speak English. Being so close to my office, I'm sure I'll be back. read more

The mofongo doesn't taste as a Mofongo at all, more like a dry mangu, told the waitress to what she replied that they won a recognition for having the best mofongo in town (I wonder who gave that award and if they have tried a real one before) . Brought me the chef, that happens to be her son, that told me that I was wrong and if I haven't seen the award they got, that I had tried not well made mofongos before that's why I didn't knew what a mofongo was. (Born and raise in Dominican Republic, so I guess the whole island is wrong) Both upset and with attitude and I'm the client here, and paid for it, horrible experience, they were disrespectful and instead of apologizing or trying to do things better, they did the opposite read more

3 stars for an ok Mofongo when I expected great since they got some recognition back in 2015 for the Mofongo. I started with the codfish croquettes and that was the highlight of my meal which is not what I expected. I came here to try the famous award winning Mofongo and left a bit dissapointed. I ordered with pepper chicken which is basically chicken fajitas made with onions and peppers. The plantain mash was very dry and if it wasn't for the sauce that came with the fajitas it would've been even harder to eat. I got one piece of chewy pork rind(chicharrón) in the mix and the outside of the mash was hard almost like chewing rubber. The chicken on the fajitas had really good flavor but was also very rubbery as if it was reheated. Honestly I ate this because I was really hungry but it was not a good meal except for the croquettes. I guess they used to cook better and make an amazing Mofongo back on the day but I never had it before so I'm just judging what I had today. read more

I am so happy that I stumbled across this place. I'm Dominican but live in California, so it's been years since I'd had a chance to visit a Dominican restaurant. The staff here was super friendly and made us feel at home right away. The food was amazing. We started off with some bacalao fritters and empanadas, and then I had the mofongo with crab, my husband had the snapper with coconut milk, and my nephew had the mofongo with shrimp. All the dishes were delicious but what really sold me on this place were Roberto, our waiter, and the rest of the staff. They made me feel like I was visiting my tios back in the Heights. Usually it's those tiny places that serve the best food and this place is definitely one of them. The establishment is decorated nice, has that cozy feel and that expectation that you'll enjoy the meal. The waitress took our order and brought us an Avocado salad that was very fitting for a starter. The place is Dominican however also serve traditional Puerto Rican and other hispanic food. We ordered Mangu and Mofongo. Both are the same from plantains except Mangu (Dominican) is pureed and Mofongo is fried. The Mangu i chose had spanish sausage and fried cheese. Delicious! The Mofongo my wife chose was paired with fried chunks of chicken (chicaron de pollo). Both were amazing with very generous portions. Dessert? Had to try their Dominican Cake (yellow cake with pineapple filling) and flan. Cake was really good, flan wasn't to my liking though. Again, both generous portions. I really like this place and will return when I'm in the area. Thanks MIlly! read more

Milly, if you read this, and are interested in learning more, send me a message and I will be happy to connect. I first decided to attend this place because one of my students recommended it. My student who recommended your restaurant said you had great work ethic and were committed to good service and authentic Dominican food. Based on my brief interaction with you, I would agree that this is so. However, your staff is killing your business because I don't want to come back and neither do my friends and here is why: I went my first time on a Sunday morning before 11am and found that the food was very good that time - we had the mangu with queso y longaniza. However, my friend and I were the only customers in the place and the young lady helping us was very rude, slow, and didn't even say a word to us. I came back another time with two different friends who both agreed that the service was terrible. It was the same girl. That time, Milly arrived and saw that our plates were empty and our glasses were too. She asked us if we wanted water or a refill and we said yes, she picked up our plates with her bag still on her shoulder and apologized. We heard her go into the back and ask the girl to come out and get us water. The last time I went was during lunch on a Saturday and this time we had a different server, this time WORSE than the one before. She didn't serve water, we had to ask her twice. She didn't greet us, or talk about anything on the menu although both my friend and I are bilingual and it was obvious; after bringing out our food, she disappeared for like 20 minutes. I ordered mofongo and it was terrible, I left all the chicharron on the plate because it looked like it had been warmed up in a microwave. Edit: I was contacted by the owners and offered a second chance. I hope I am able to make it back soon and see how things were improved. read more

This restaurant gave Washington Heights Dominican restaurants which is a predominantly Dominican neighborhood a run for its money. I had the best experience visiting here! Our waiter was super friendly and gave great recommendations so great that we ended up changing our orders to his recommendations. I had the pollo al ajillo that was so yummy I ate the whole 6oz breast piece! My cousin got the mofongo with rabo (oxtail), I do not eat red meat and have only ever tried my moms homemade rabo which I thought had no competition, I WAS WRONG! This rabo was so good I had to call my mom and tell her she had serious competition. A DJ came in at some point and played such good old school merengue, bachata, and salsa that I couldn't help but get up and dance in the middle of a seated restaurant! LOVED LOVED LOVED IT HERE AND WILL COME BACK ASAP! read more

Honestly quite disappointed at this place. I used to come here all the time as a kid but my last visit was just awful. Me and my boyfriend decided to have something different from the usual. Me being Dominican and him being Cuban it wasn't too hard to decide lol. Even after reading some of the reviews I still decided to give it a chance. I should've trusted my gut on this one To begin with, the place is very old looking. No type of upgrades have been done in a very LONG time. That really doesn't bother me but when we sat down our table was sticky. I carry around wipes so I just wiped it down so that wasn't an issue. The woman who attended us was very attentive but dry. To start off I ordered the morir soñando and Millys picadera. The drink was ok and the picadera I must admit was delicious and could tell it was fresh. For dinner I ordered the chicharrones de pollo with rice, beans, maduros, and side order of the avocado. Everything was amazing till I bit into one of the pieces of chicken that was still raw and bloody on the inside. Yuck! I checked all other pieces and there was only two that were undercooked. I did tell the waiter and she did apologize a few times and took the pieces from the table only to bring back the same ones . You could tell they were clearly re-fried instead of bringing new ones. I honestly lost my appetite after that and just grabbed the check and left. Don't think I'll ever come back here to be honest. read more

I loved this restaurant, very friendly and casual but respectful host. As soon as I walked in noticed the typical merengue music in the background. I had my Girlfriend try the Sancocho, it was her firs time ever eating dominican food and absolutely loved it! I had the Mofongo de longaniza, IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!! By far the best Mofongo I've had in any restaurant! It was the right moist and freshness to it, most places serve it dry and a bit hard , but these folks have perfected the art of making perfect Mofongo! I also took an order of Sancocho to go, and loved it so much!
