Incredible experience with this local bakery that I found via Google Maps. I was looking for a bakery that could deliver a dozen cupcakes (same-day) in the Plano area and, boy, did they deliver!!! I started by messaging them on Facebook and they responded quickly. I was able to get all my questions answered--including delivery fee (which depends on the distance) and flavor assortment. I called to place the order and Francesca was able to guide me thru the painless process within 5 minutes. She even offered to write a birthday message on the dozen cupcakes, explained the family's background, and detailed the care/attention that goes into their baked goods. For such a short interaction I felt like I knew their history and felt great about supporting their business. This is an amazing little bakery. Their pastries are great and their breads are legendary. The ciabatta is a piece of artwork. Their sandwich menu is perfect for a quick lunch, and the fresh mozzarella and pesto is . They also bake cakes and other goods to order. I pick up a loaf of bread for the kids every week and it rarely last until the weekend (because they devour it instantly) Supporting local businesses is really important and they make it extremely easy! I can only give 4 stars due to what I didn't see. The day after an ice storm hit Dallas, I was driving home to Houston. Stopping in, there wasn't as much available as they were delayed coming in. Their offerings were still bountiful. I purchased a beautifully light loaf of Ciabatta and a baguette, begging to come home with me. I selected a few deserts, including a napoleon, a brownie, and a wedding cake themed delight which would delight my husband. The bread was crusty and tender and made delicious sandwiches. The ciabatta was wonderfully holey and chewy. Overall, I'll come back - just wish it wasn't impacted by the weather. read more

I Love this little bakery. The customer service is as exceptional as the food. I've ordered cakes from here on two separate occasions and highly recommend them. The last cake was a 2-tier wedding cake for my daughter's wedding reception. Francesca pulled it off, last minute and made my evening. We had a lemon-flavored cake with lemon curd filling on the 1st tier and wedding cake flavor with cream cheese filling on the second tier. The creme cheese buttercream frosting was creamy and smooth. The cake was beautiful and deliciously moist. The lemon was tart and the wedding cake had a nice almond flavor. The order was short notice but it wasn't a problem, my cake was perfect! The service was fine. You order at the counter. But I wanted something with my sandwich other then soup, like a side salad or some chips or something. She offered the chicken salad (I believe) without the bun. I didn't realize she meant the whole amount they would give if you were getting the sandwich. I already had a sandwich. I'm glad I did too because the chicken salad didn't taste good. I only took a couple of small bites. I took it back up after I had completed my meal and my friends were gone & told them I wanted a refund. They said they adjusted the ticket and I bought the ticket. I'm waiting to see the credit card bill to see if the adjustment was made. I don't believe I would suggest this bakery to someone else. Halotus and I had lunch here this past Sunday. It was clean and tastefully decorated. The gentleman running the register was friendly and may have been the owner. My tuna sandwich was woefully lacking in tuna salad. The brioche bread was delicious as were the fresh ingredients (cucumber and lettuce). The addition of Dijon mustard was undetectable. Halotus had a similar experience with the brioche and fixings being fresh, but the sandwich meat was spare. We chose desserts: German chocolate cake & an eclair. Both tasted a few days old... the eclair pastry was hard. Wrap up: the price of the sandwiches should provide more meat than what we received and the desserts weren't fresh. That said, we decided we'd give them another try in the future. Perhaps Sunday is an off day... perhaps the desserts are delivered fresh during the week. The bakery receives rave reviews on their cakes and we did love the brioche. read more

It's been about a year since I've been shopping here for baked goods. It's a bakery owned by a Belgian family, so that's something to be excited about. It's never packed and usually has people coming in and out, but I think it's a nice place for studying or getting work done. The bakery pretty much doubles as a cafe. The prices are reasonable, especially since their products are baked from scratch. Some of my favorite things include their bread-of-the-month, ciabatta (best I've had!), the vanilla eclairs, and their caramel pecan coffee cakes! Even if what you're looking for isn't there, the owners are more than happy to help you. Since the fresh baked goods don't really have preservatives, I know they don't make too much so it doesn't get thrown out or wasted, so I recommend calling ahead of time for orders or coming in early before they sell out. Be aware that they may have stock outs during busy days! Another neat thing is that they can customize products to meet your needs, so if you need bread that's sugar/dairy/gluten/etc. free, they can do that for most part. If you're not looking for sweets, they have savoury options like their bacon/jalapeño cheddar scones, ham and cheese croissants, and their in-house sandwiches. There are times when they introduce/rotate new cake slices or menu items, but I am satisfied with the assortment offered when I come in. Every cake slice I've had there was pretty good. I previously had my birthday cake from them and the lemon cake was not only cute, but also DELICIOUS - everyone at the party enjoyed the cake. If you're a chocolate lover, I recommend their chocolate ganache latte (mocha latte), or chocolate milk. If you're having lunch here, I highly recommend their lunch combo because you get half a sandwich and a cup a soup. Typically, I'll get their rotisserie chicken sandwich on multigrain with pesto. You don't get charged for the toppings put in the sandwich, so you can get anything you like on the sandwich. I think their daily soup is homemade tomato basil soup, which is a bit tart and not too sweet, but PERFECT for me. Other soups they may have include mushroom cream, butternut squash bisque, broccoli cheese, and some others, but it depends on what they have in stock, so just ask or call. Overall, there isn't really anything to complain about since there's a lot put into this bakery, but I guess you can complain about stock outs. Compared to the typical grocery store bakeries, you can definitely taste the difference. You'll notice some things are either the same price or lower at Millstone compared to other places, so it's a win-win. read more

Cute bakery with tasty pastries. A bit of a hidden gem in a city so saturated with bakeries. Got three different croissants: plain, chocolate, almond. The almond was my absolute favorite. Had a nice filling and went great with some hot chocolate on a cold day. Tip: we went in for fresh bread but we went too early (right at opening time) and it had just come out of the oven and was too hot to slice. Go a bit later if that's what you want! read more

Run, don't walk to Millstone Bakery. The husband and I have driven by here for weeks and finally decided to stop in over the Thanksgiving weekend. What we found is truly what makes small local businesses great - a family-owned place, living their dream of running a high-quality bakery making their generations-old recipes. Bread that's tender. Corn syrup free. Preservative free. And, for many of the breads, dairy free. We like good bread and are used to paying anywhere from $4-5 a loaf at Heartland. Prices are similar here. While we enjoyed an almond croissant (delicate, not greasy) and a hot chocolate (Belgian chocolate, not from powder, smooth as silk with a wonderful aftertaste), we chatted with the owner. He was such a nice person and so committed to making this place work. They bake a limited amount each day so what you get is fresh - and if you get there late, they may be out. I'm committed to doing my part to help. Their bread reminds me of what we ate when we lived in Europe, so this is our new weekly stop for fresh and wholesome bread. The fresh, homemade bread was superb and added so much to both the sandwiches and my soup! KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: * everything is made fresh every morning. Yes, everything, so they do run out of some things later in the day. * everything is "made to order", this is not fast food. So be patient, the food is absolutely worth the wait! * this is a "word of mouth" type place, so after you fall in love, tell everyone you know! * this is a great place to grab a drink, pastry, etc and settle into a good book. Orders a few pies for thanksgiving, because I needed my oven....it was the absolute best decision I've made in a long time! Got key lime and chocolate mousse pies....the crusts on these pies was utter perfection! The key lime was the perfect balance of sweet and sour, creamy deliciousness! So glad I finally had an opportunity to commission a cake from Millstone. My mom turned 60 and because we had to cancel our travel plans due to COVID, we decided we could splurge on a nice cake while supporting a local business. Francesca did a wonderful job with the cake and it turned out just the way I asked. Granted, we did agree it would be more aesthetically pleasing had the top layer of icing been vanilla, but my mom insisted on a double chocolate cake (after all, it was her day). His choice led into design and he was told to google ideas right there and all of a sudden I felt like I was in an episode of Cake boss. His imagination was his limit. I've written a review before on how the only thing I didn't like was the mixed berry scone because of the rubber texture and lack of flavor. I came here again on a whim because I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd give it another go. Like last time, the customer service was top notch and the girl behind the counter was very sweet. I asked for cake recommendations and she suggested 3 different cakes(which gives variety depending on your flavor palette). I went with the raspberry almond cake. While it is a bit more of a dense cake, I think it works in this case. It's creamy and I think best eaten cold because it gives me ice cream cake vibes. It has the right amount of raspberry(which I always complain about not getting enough of because I love raspberry!) and had just the right amount of almond. While I didn't like the scones, I would definitely come back for the cake plus this place has a very relaxing vibe! read more
