The young girl that was working was super nice and had suggestions for us that had not been there which was two of the three of us. We ended up getting the coconut and the strawberry lemonade cakes. The strawberry lemonade We would rate 4 out of 10. The flavoring was good. The lemon needed a little more sourness. The overwhelming sweetness was the main factor for the rating. It tastes like fruit loops with extra sugar. We would not buy this flavor again. The coconut We would rate 9.5 out of 10. The only issue was again the sweetness. It could have gone down by like 25% and been perfect. Would buy again for sure. Overall if we're in the area again we would try other flavors. read more

The cake i got for my sisters birthday celebration was a last minute order. It was a delicious cake but kinda pricey! They did write on it very last minute so i appreciated that! They were have issues with the AC on the day i picked up the cake so they weren't technically open to the public, but i placed an order on the phone so i was still able to pick up. This was a convenient location to where my husband could drop me off and i walked over. The staff that was on site when i arrived weren't very energetic about me being there but the person i spoke to on the phone was kind and sounding happy thankful for my order. read more

We'd heard such good things... We're clearly in the minority, but we were disappointed. We came late during the week and the selections were slim. And the cakes we purchased were a little dried out. The frosting on both the lemon/blueberry and the strawberry were just too sweet for our taste. And by the time we arrived home (25 min), the frosting on the strawberry cake was sliding off. If you're ever in Grandscape in The Colony make sure you stop by to show this black owned cake business some love. It's tucked near an open area near Schell's and is not hard to find. The dainty pink and green logo is not hard to find and easy to spot. As soon as we walked in we were immediately greeted. As a first timer there, there was no rush to order. While there weren't many flavors to choose from there were good flavors. I ended up grabbing the pina colada and the last piece of strawberry. The other flavors included a strawberry champagne, German chocolate and wedding cake, to name a few. I was hoping to see lemon but there were none. I'm not sure if that was an option or if she had run out (again I grabbed the last piece of strawberry). Cake: the cake was really moist and super sweet. I had super high hopes for the pina colada. It was my least favorite. It gave me wedding cake vibes with a touch of pineapple. That strawberry though...that was a good slice of cake. I haven't had a slice of strawberry cake that actually tasted like strawberries in a while! That was my favorite for sure! Overall...I'd go back to try the other flavors for sure! Adventures at Grandscape: I visited GS to pick up an item from another store. As I was weaving through the cluster of shops near the main stage, I lucked upon my sweet for the evening: Strawberry cake. The icing was placed just right - not that thick melty layer that can overwhelm the cake, but rather that nice layer that allows you to enjoy the cake. The crumb on the cake was moist and honestly - just a lot of fun to eat. Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits and it shines through this cake. (Next up will be the lemon cake or lemon pound cake). The store greets you with several cakes plus some keto options and some other types (I saw brownies!) We wrapped up dinner at another local restaurant and decided we wanted something sweet. So after a quick Yelp search, we found Julie's Sweets Bakery and had to give it a try! It's a little hard to find, but once we found it, we were welcomed with great service from the owner and her son. LOVED being able to patronize a black owned business in Frisco! After staring at the display for a bit, we decided to splurge ($6/slice) and get 4 slices to try at home. The flavors were really good, the icing was PHENOMENAL, but the cake density threw us a little off. It's not super moist or airy, which is what we typically prefer. Flavor: 4/5 Icing: 5/5 Cake: 3/5 We did go about 30 minutes before closing, so not sure if that had anything to do with it or not. Found this place by chance today so gave it a try. Pricing seems what you'd expect for this location. The area in the shop between the door and the counter is quite small, especially if you have more than one group of customers there who are choosing slices and walking along long counter to do that (which we did, too). I had a slice of red velvet cake and ate it about three hours after purchase. The texture was more stiff than the other photos of red velvet cake from two and four years ago here on Yelp. Those photos show the lovely moist and velvety texture but my slice was rather dry. You could cut a sharp line down the sponge and it held the cut at 90 degrees! The frosting tasted more sweet than cream cheese type flavor to me. I think perhaps I just chose badly. There was a good variety of cake flavors. The hummingbird cake looked more moist so I'll maybe try that next time if I'm in the store again. read more

Ok this cake is fire!!! We tried last Thursday after a concert at the lawn on the fly as we saw the sign ... we ordered a slice of the lemon, hummingbird and chocolate. Cake was like grannies cake! We went there this afternoon. The hummingbird was delicious. Just keep in mind that a piece is huge. It felt like three servings. The sugar is a lot, which is expected for cakes. If you have been watching what you eat, I suggest taking off most or all the frosting if you can resist. I should probably preface this review by making it known that my mom and sister are ELITE bakers, so growing up eating their desserts and fresh breads, has likely made me an unfairly tough critic, in that regard. This is my first time coming to the Grandscape shopping center, so the bakery itself was a bit difficult to find, but eventually, I found my way in! I decided to get a piece of Coconut Cake, Strawberry Cake, and Red Velvet Cake. The coconut piece was a bit dry but the flavors were great! Strawberry cake was a bit underwhelming for me. While I don't doubt that it was homemade, it kind of had that typical box cake strawberry flavor, if that makes sense. So that was a bit disappointing, as I would've loved to taste some fresh strawberries in the cake. The good news is, my boyfriend loved his red velvet cake! Ran across this barkery when exploring Grandscapes. I love cookies and had to walk in and look around. Small bakery with the fresh goods out to see. I ordered a pair of chocolate chip cookies for my wife and I to snack on while we walked around. First the service was great. It was like walking into my family farms kitchen and the smell of sweets was intoxicating and I was greeted with the smile. I asked if the cookies were good and I was told they are the best chocolate cookies ever. The baker turns around as she's working on a cake and tell me that "He eats a dozen right when he gets home from college." He (the cashier) was her son! I was like hell yeah i want two cookies because i can always back a Mom's bakery where her son works and helps when home from school! Reminds me of my childhood. No to the cookie....Damn it was good.
