In town for one night, this restaurant is attached to our hotel, which is an old corn mill from the 1800s. Our room is very cool! For dinner we had shrimp and grits and the catfish; two favorite southern specialties and shrimp hush puppies. About to follow it up with some banana pudding! Tried this restaurant since it was at the hotel and we figured it would be as great as the hotel. Sadly, it is not. There was no one at the front when we arrived; had to wait several minutes before anyone came to greet us. Only a few tables were occupied; that should have given me pause. Once seated, the best word to describe dinner is slow. Service was extremely slow. Food was slow to come out and didn't come out at the same time. We even ordered dessert, and that took even longer to come out than the entrees did. I'm not sure what the problem was, but this restaurant is not of the same standard as the hotel. I ordered the quail and thought it was good but not particularly filling for an entree, but everyone else in my group were satisfied with their steaks. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous! The decor, the old mill vibe, the views, it's all top level. We were surprised on a Saturday night at peak dinner time that it was empty, only 1 table was occupied. Come to find out, a more sterile section in the back is where two other tables were seated! Seemed like it was for over flow but sadly it's where we were seated, tucked away from the mill vibe and tucked away from the old wood. Perfect section for folks with kids but we were three adults! We thought maybe the front section tables were reserved but the entire time we were there only 3 tables were seated in the front area. Then sadly, service was slow, basic and methodical but somehow it made sense, we were the furthest you could get from everything! Now, it was all resting on the food! The pork belly was amazing, rendered perfectly, soft and melt in your mouth! The fresh fried pork rinds crackled the entire time, were nice and warm and loved by all! The teeny tiny spoonful of dip was very good, just miniscule considering the portion of rinds. Our server never returned to ask for a bit more until our meals were delivered so we enjoyed them plain. The chicken and biscuits lacked any seasoning whatsoever and the presentation of the steak was quite lackluster. The wedge salad was just plain weird, too much going on for a wedge! My wife stumble upon this place in Columbus, Georgia while visiting our daughter at Auburn for the weekend. I must say this place was truly amazing from the ambience the location sitting on the Chattahoochee River with indoor and outdoor seating. It is a converted flour mill factory into a restaurant. It provides indoor and outdoor seating with views of the river and multilevel seating. It's a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary or just to go out for a night out of relaxation. The food was amazing. I ordered the grill pork chop with bok choy and twice baked potato. My wife ordered shrimp and grits. And for appetizer, we had a fried green tomato with stuffed crab. From the beginning, the service was amazing. We were immediately seated, and I will waitress. Serena was joyful, and very knowledgeable of the menu. We will definitely be returning here for dinner, and the restaurant is also connected to their hotel.. I'm always looking for new places to eat and this is one of the BEST I've found located in Columbus, GA. I was taken aback before I even walked through the doors. The hostess initially wanted to seat us in the very back in a secluded room which we declined. We elected to instead sit at the bar and Mike, the bartender, was certainly a delight. ALL OF HIS RECOMMENDATIONS WERE DELICIOUS! The spinach tasted a tad bit like pickles which I'm not a fan of; however, I ate the majority of them anyway. I chose to have the fish blackened. Overall, I loved the rustic look inside and the warm atmosphere. I have made the decision that this will be more of a date night spot; therefore, I'm not sure if I'll be visiting as frequently as I'd like to to try the various items on the menu. This is our favorite date night spot. We dont go enough. By far the best Filet in Columbus. We have been probably 10 times and its been fantastic every time but once. The last time our server seemed very slow and non attentive. The steak wasn't perfect, cooked rare not medium so we sent it back to cook some more. We will not let this tarnish our love of this place because every time you go to eat its a gamble between the servers and the kitchen. This night they were both off but they have a 90% incredible track record with us so we still recommend it to everyone. I am not sure everything you order is worth the price you pay, but we went in knowing it was going to be an expensive date and it sure was. To start, the shrimp hush puppies were great and so was the broad board. We actually liked the bread board the most from this visit. We had the chicken and steak for dinner with the sweet potato and kale side as well as the scalloped potatoes. The steak was delicious and the chicken was flavorful. The sides were a bit bland. Again, for the price it is a stretch that the main entree does not come with anything other than the meat. By the time you buy sides to complement your meal it can run you close to $75 dollars per person just for the main entree. This was a fun spot to try. The food was tasty and we enjoyed a date night. We've been here multiple times. Usually the food is good and service is great . When we arrived I received an average greeting, one you would get at an Applebees or Chilis, not the usual polite and welcoming hostess we are used to . No welcome, just "Do you have a reservation?" I should have just left then as this isn't the type of greeting one will receive at an establishment of this caliber . We stayed, our waitress was amazing. She was super nice. We got the bread board , most of the breads were good, the cornbread tasted dry and old. It was clearly not fresh. I've had this same bread board before and I could tell the inconsistency, the bread was stale , I couldn't even swallow it . My entree was pretty good, my twice baked potato also tasted old and had a weird texture. The steak was pretty good. I am writing this review at 4am as I am currently up with an upset stomach , and have been up since 1am. Please serve your guest fresh food . This was our first time to the Millhouse Kitchen and Bar. I wanted to take my wife to a different place in town for her Birthday Dinner, and the Millhouse Kitchen didn't disappoint. Sereena helped us, and she was a pleasure to interact with. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and the historical significance of the building where the Millhouse resides. This is a great place for a date night, or just getting out to have a great meal. It sits right on the Riverwalk, right along the Chattahoochee River. Then moved onto our appetizer which was good we had the trout. Our service was okay, we constantly kept asking for water refills which was annoying.
