Great rooftop vibes and atmosphere! Very fun, and a sporty bar so great for a bite and to hang out. I asked the server for recommendations and he had great recommendations and was attentive and kept our water glasses full. The crab cakes and crab cakes were yummy and they definitely used real crab. They were a little strong with the crab flavor but in my opinion it was perfect since I'm so used to imitation crab being used. The chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly but I wasn't crazy about the vegetables, they were covered in some type of sweet/slightly spicy is sauce and I would've liked the carrots to be a little more tender but still good! I was also able to try the short ribs which were tender and yummy and the crispy broccolini served with it was delicious! We were seated fairly quickly and our server was very nice. The menu was limited and I'm guessing because it was brunch. I decided to go with the old faithful of grits, eggs, and bacon. The meal came with breakfast potatoes and a biscuit. I'm a country boy, so I wound up making a sandwich with the biscuit. The flavor and novelty of the food( the jelly actually had preserves in it) was a pleasant surprise. It was so much food, I couldn't eat it all. But I was certainly happy with my experience. The space itself strikes a pleasant semi-formal note--clean, polished, and respectful without veering into stuffy territory. Behind the bar, the bartender was meticulously wiping down every bottle, a quiet display of care that set a tone of genuine pride in the operation. We began with a dozen oysters: six raw and six char-grilled. The raw specimens were on the petite side for the price, yet delivered a clean, bright, and pleasantly saline flavor that let the oyster speak for itself. The char-grilled version arrived with a savory Parmesan crust that brought its own appealing character--rich, cheesy, and nicely caramelized in a way that felt unique rather than derivative. The crab dip, however, was a standout. Far superior to the often disappointing versions we've encountered elsewhere, this one tasted of genuine lump crab meat, folded into a properly cheesy, indulgent dip that avoided any unfortunate "buffalo" detours. The noodles were properly cooked and coated in a creamy sauce, yet it lacked the depth and seasoning one hopes for-- a pinch more salt and pepper would have elevated it considerably. The fish and chips presented a towering mound of fries that carried decent flavor but lacked the shattering crispness one craves. The real disappointment lay in the presentation of the fish: two fillets stacked atop one another, causing the steaming heat to turn the once-promising breading soggy and prone to sliding off. That said, the fish itself was excellent--flaky, moist, and delicately sweet with a lovely buttery quality. It was the unfortunate interaction between steam and crust that kept the dish from greatness. The roads were a little dense, so not necessarily my particular style, but I'm good. The butter that came with them was very unique to say the least. To drink, both beers arrived filled to the absolute brim and proved so enjoyable that I would gladly order them again without hesitation. Overall, the evening delivered solid, thoughtful plates in a well-run environment, with several bright spots that make a return visit tempting--particularly for those oysters and that excellent crab dip. read more

So onto the final reason of why I'm giving it a three I got the smash burger and the bun was super dry and it wasn't better than any other burger I've had before. It wasn't very juicy and left me wanting . I would probably say I liked the bacon (added for an additional cost) more than the actual burger! Bummer! I've gone to Nonic once before to get out the house; I saw they were doing a trivia night so I was excited to come play! I sat at the bar area upstairs and the service was okay the drinks were also alright the first time. I didn't get food the first time, but the second time around I wanted to go back for another trivia night grab food and a drink. I sat at the bar area upstairs and unfortunately was not greeted by the young man or young lady behind the bar. They saw I was sitting there but continued to converse amongst themselves and the other patrons at the end of the bar for 5-10 minutes. After no greeting or interaction of any kind, not even a menu, I decided to leave. They opened the new location and the menu had switched up which was a bit disappointing ! I feel like there's not many options on the menu, not much versatility. I must give a disclaimer that I absolutely walked into this place ready to be a hater because of the pricing when I had scouted the menu in advance. That being said... IT. WAS. AMAZING! The building has two floors, restaurant on bottom and rooftop bar on top, and each carries their own vibe. People were seen eating dinner on the first floor then heading up for more drinks upstairs, creating a constant cycle of people without feeling crowded or overly busy. I ordered the Mushroom Gnocchi and was absolutely floored by how well lemon juice and capers could pair with the rest of the dish. I also tried the Korean Fried Chicken appetizer and Fried Snapper and Grits, both of which were flavorful and cooked to perfection. For dessert, I shared the (deconstructed) Peach Cobbler and that was also really good, though definitely too much for one person at the end of all the food I'd had. My group also ordered drinks, with the bartender offering suggestions of their most popular cocktails. I was sad they don't offer beer flights (yet), but I was allowed to sample a few of their drafts before committing to a 16 oz so that was a pleasant surprise. Last time I was in Columbus a few months ago I tried to walk in with a small group but it was booked, this time when I thought to come here, I checked online and made a reservation for later that day (Friday evening). The service was very good - we were seated right away. the food came out quickly, and the staff was very courteous and attentive. The rooftop was closed (I assume seasonally for winter), but the atmosphere inside was nice. I had the chili-crunch salmon. It was great. The salmon was cooked well and the chili crisp and miso toffee butter added lots of flavour. There was a lot of butter but it was served as a little scoop on top of the salmon so it was very easy to just remove and set aside what I didn't need. The crispy rice also had a nice texture. It was a good portion size with a decent cut of salmon and lots of green beans. The food isn't cheap but for a good seafood dish I thought the price was fine. Tip inflation is real though, with the suggested tips on the receipt going from 20-25%. I wasn't miffed about it enough to affect the rating because you still choose what you tip, but seriously? 25%? I started out with a flight of the beer from the drafts that they offer from various brewers. For dinner I went with the chicken sandwich and hand cut fries. Unfortunately, the chicken sandwich was a bit tough and one of the bites I took was nothing but chicken fat. The fries were pathetic. As you can tell from the picture, they consisted of little bits of mainly greasy fries. Who wants bits of fries? Overall, beer selection was decent, service was great, but food was below average. I sampled Tap 23 which was good considering I don't drink beer. I will add that the bar area seems quite tight because of the booths directly behind and it was kinda hot to be indoors. I had one of the worst chicken sandwiches I've ever had here. The chicken was for some reason thigh meat which is just weird for a chicken sandwich. It was also over an inch thick. It was so hot that after 10-15 minutes it still hadn't cooled down enough to eat so eventually I just cut it up into smaller pieces so it could actually cool and not burn my face off. The flavor wasn't that good, either, and the texture of the chicken and the thickness made me feel almost sick after eating it. The fries were okay. The prices are too much.
