We visited 2~24~24! This was our first visit at the Millhouse! We both ordered an appetizer and the chicken + biscuit meal with sides! It was very tasteful, and filling. Disappointed, I ordered the shrimp corn pups, and my order contained a hint of shrimps so the cocktail sauce didn't work. Possibly butter would have paired with the hushpupies. Went for my sons college graduation dinner had a party of 9. made the reservation weeks ahead. Had a great view of the river. when they brought the food out 8 out of 9 got their dinner. Three people did not get their sides. I assumed wrongly they would show up with my dinner in a few. After 10 minutes of waiting I went and asked our server. after 10 more minutes I went and found the manager. Needless to say I never got my steak and we never got 3 sides. we never even got of water or tea refilled. the claim they did not charge for my steak but did not give me an itemized bill to prove it. so $480.00 later I went to subway for my dinner. Stayed overnight at the City Mills. Loved it! Checked out some of the other eateries but nothing stacked up to the hotel's own restaurant, Beautifully decorated but totally in keeping with the old "mill" theme, views are lovely even if we had two thirds River and a third of the construction area where the expansion will be. The setting was very nice and our server was friendly. Our drinks were watered down. The drink menu indicated that "Hendricks" gin was available, after ordering, our server came back and advised that "Hendricks" was actually not available. Not understanding how a newly opened restaurant can list different brands of alcohol and then not have them. The shrimp hush puppies were the highlight of our meal. The wedge salad was a disappointment. After over 90 minutes we finally got our main course. The cornish hen was rubbery and extremely salty. The filet mignon that our son ordered was chewy and difficult to eat. Our son initially ordered the grouper special and after ordering same, the server came back several minutes later and told us that the grouper was sold out. Overall, all of the food was subpar for a $200 meal. Our server was a nice person, but clearly over-worked. When we came in, I told our server that tonight was a special occasion, my wife's birthday. At the end of the meal, after having to wait still longer for our check, and paying, our server told us that next time we came in, my wife could have a "birthday treat". Would have been nice to been offered this "treat" before we were leaving. The restaurant itself is richly appointed, however the noise level made it extremely difficult to carry on a conversation. We ate here at Valentines and it was wonderful, we decided to return for our anniversary. The food was NOT the same, undercooked scalloped potatoes, spinach soufflé taste like dirt & the 50.00 prime rib was tough and very chewy. We decided to try the banana pudding cause everyone that came to our table raved about it, it too was a disappointment! Needless to say the meal was terrible. 2nd trip to the Millhpuse. Very disappointed in the food. Ordered the cheese board and dread board. The bread board had three slices of crusty bread, a mini cornbread, and one slice of focaccia with a slab of butter and a tablespoon of preserve. This would be free bread service in any other restaurant. The cheese board had five one ounce slices of cheese with a few crackers (stale) and a few crostinis for $24. Not worth the money they charge. Their pork rinds were delish both visits. I had a Cesar which ended up being a head of Romaine sliced down the middle( stem included) with three unripe cherry tomatoes and four tiny slices of cucumber. I literally had to cut out the stalk and slice up the lettuce. I could have made my own salad at home if I wanted to go to all that trouble. The dressing tasted like the Cardinis you buy in the grocery store. I was very unhappy with the salad and I love ordering Cesar salads so big disappointment. My husband had the pork shank which was a nice cut but slightly dried out. Sauce was very nice. My son had the fried Cornish hen which had a very nice flavor but the meat was dried out from over cooking. Ended with the peach cobbler which was stellar on our first visit but this time was a tiny dish with six peach slices and the top of what looked like a refrigerated biscuit on top with a little sugar sprinkled over it. Our dinner was $188 before tip and not worth half that amount. Server was very sweet and the experience and ambiance was still nice but not impressed with the food at that cost. read more

Save your money and go elsewhere. I work a job that requires me to take clients out to upscale restaurants 2-3 times a week. I was in Columbus for a trade show and found Millhouse Kitchen. You will not find a more impressive ambiance with the old mill stuff in the center of the restaurant but it absolutely ends there. I have never been more underwhelmed with my food as I was tonight. My smoked prime rib was literally cold and even if it had been prepared correctly the cut of beef was less quality than what I would get at longhorn. When paying $50 for a steak I would expect a chef prepared prime cut of beef. This was nowhere close to that not to mention the scallop potatoes weren't done. This meal would have been an absolute disappointment at half the cost..... just terrible! read more

First, ask for Steven. Excellent service. Took really good care of us. It was our anniversary. Start with the best. As a gift from Steven, he brought us one of their signature banana pudding. I've been to hundreds of church lunches on the lawn and have tasted some of the best southern banana pudding. My wife and I agree, it's the best we've ever tasted. Smoked prime rib. Amazing. My wife and I came for dinner tonight. Our reservation was for 7:30. We walked in and the restaurant was very slow.. that was our first sign. We have been to Millhouse about 5 times and this was by far the worst and the last. The hostess was nowhere to be found and a server had to seat us. We ordered drinks and apps which were good and then ordered our entrees. My wife ordered the caesar salad with salmon and I ordered the pork shank. Food took a while to come out and my wife cut into the salmon and it was raw in the center. My wife ordered medium well and this was rare salmon. We sent it back and he said it would only be about 10 minutes; this was at 8:40. Fast forward to multiple checkins with the server and her salad still wasn't ready at 9:15. We finally received the salad at 9:20 and it was better. The salad was loaded with pepper and overall just not worth 30+ dollars for the presentation. After being at the restaurant for roughly 2 hours at this point the server offered us a dessert for the trouble. We declined and asked for the salad to be taken off the bill. The manager never stopped by or any acknowledgment. I typically do not leave reviews like this but I would not recommend this restaurant for a date night or in general. We have heard the restaurant had gone down hill and I would have to agree. None of the same servers that have worked there in the past were there. This restaurant should be packed on a Friday night and that should have honestly been our first indicator of what to expect.. sad to see after all the money put into this restaurant. Our appetizer, entrees and desserts were excellent and the service was wonderful. Our waiter Xavier gave an enthusiastic welcome followed by a brief introduction to the Mill and its interesting architectural history. He was very helpful with entree suggestions and wine pairing and very attentive throughout our meal. The millstones, original brick walls and reclaimed wood tables provided a nice vibe. We went to Millhouse Kitchen during its grand opening on Dec.22. I ordered the peanut soup, the biscuits + chicken and the spinach souffle for dinner. Then, topped it off with the butterscotch pudding. My dinner partner ordered the boiled peanuts, chicken breast and scalloped potatoes. They ended the meal with the chocolate lava cake. Our first course evolved peanuts. The peanut soup was fabulous. It's more like a chili with a slight kick that's garnished with a few peanuts. Its taste is not overwhelmed by peanut flavor. It was a great start. My dinner partner said the boiled peanuts were flavorful yet spicy. They liked them, but after tasting my soup, said they would opt for the soup next time. Our main course of biscuits + chicken and the chicken breast didn't disappoint. The biscuits + chicken comes in a small cast-iron pot. The broth is rich and thick, surrounding pulled chicken and small dollops of seasoned biscuits. I wish I could have had more to bring home. It was a true, warm comfort food on a chilly winter night. I would definitely order it again. My dinner partner's chicken breast was huge, accentuated with slice or two of cooked tomato. The meat was moist and well seasoned, and they even had enough to bring home for a second meal. The spinach souffle side was good. It has a very strong flavor of spinach with parmesan cheese on top. The scalloped potatoes were another great comfort food for a cold night. We couldn't leave without trying a couple desserts. The butterscotch pudding is more like a creme brulee with a caramelized crust and garnished with some strawberry slices and a few blueberries. It was simply delicious and large enough to share. I brought part of my serving home. The chocolate lava cake was more of a single serving and accompanied by ice cream. It was also delicious and so moist. I also enjoyed one of the restaurant's signature cocktails that contained Ron Zacapa, coconut milk, brown sugar syrup and lime juice in a sugar-rimmed glass. Oh my! Wonderful! What was better than this meal? The service! Kristina and her assistant (sorry, I can't remember her name) were second to none. We were NEVER left needing a refill of our teas or waters. I don't believe I've received more attentive service at a Columbus restaurant in the 10 years I've lived here. This level of service is usually reserved for fine dining in larger cities. For a pricey meal we expect 5 star resort service. Plates were not cleared. Table was a mess. Not knowledgeable about any menu items. She kept suggesting higher priced items like she worked on commission. Almost broke a glass on our table by dropping the bottle opener on it. She kept reaching over us. There were 4 of us, we all ordered different main courses. They were out of some main course selections and popular beers. So, out of the four of us NO ONE liked their entree or any of the sides. ALL TERRIBLE We actually left and went to "Salt Cellar" for dessert because we weren't spending another dime there. We personally give it a 2 (for location) out of 10. My wife and I decided to try this new very nicely appointed restaurant with a variety of seating accommodations and an interesting menu. Our server, Serena, was personable, knowledgeable, and very attentive. We had two appetizers--Crushed Puppies and Pecan Trout Rillette. Both were delicious-- though in different ways--but a nod goes to the trout. Our salads were both also very delicious. My wife had the small Goat Cheese and Berry Salad and I had the Pickled Shrimp Salad, which was large enough to have been a main course. The only complaint with either salad was that my wife said the arugula in her salad was very stemmy. Lastly, my wife had the Chicken and Spooned Biscuits which came in a large bowl and was very flavorful. I had the Blackened Grouper and it was wonderful. The house made spice blend on it had some heat but it was not enough to cover up the taste of the butter used in cooking it. We will definitely return to this restaurant to try other potential delights on the menu. read more

My wife and I ate here the first time last night for our anniversary. Our table let us watch the sunset over the river. Great start. We had Breads & Spreads - artisanal sourdough, pumpernickel, and jalapeño cornbread with a variety of toppings My bride had chicken with spoon bread - yum. Real comfort food. I had blackened tile fish. Perfectly done. Not just a bunch of pepper, but actually blackened. Sides were spinach soufflé and grit cake. (The menu is 100% a la carte.) Both excellent, but our old Southern palates really wanted a pinch of salt. (None on tables and we were afraid to ask in a place that seemed very top-drawer by price, despite the servers wearing overalls and industrial aprons to complement the Millhouse theme.) We were too full for dessert. Our sever, Nikki, was amazing. Always right on time without hovering. She promised to help us better manage our appetite next time so we can leave room for their banana pudding. We're gonna go back on the next occasion that justifies it for us. With one cocktail, no wine, no dessert - $80 plus tax. But you know what? It was worth it. I expected it to be more. read more
