I have been a patron of Miller's bar for approximately 25 years they have the best ground round burgers anywhere around! If you know the routine you go in there, order like it's a speakeasy of burgers make sure you bring cash because they do not except credit cards there and there may be a wait out the door however it does move rather quickly they have two separate dining areas. Insanely overrated. I understand this place changed ownership from when my friends had gone and and have been bugging me to try. Well, try I did. And I wasn't impressed. First off, customer service doesn't extend beyond a Luke warm hi and a blank "wtf do you want" stare. If it's your first time, expect to be expected to know all their little "rules" like 1. Cash only, 2. You must tell them exactly what you want on your burger. There's no "usual", there's no "how do most people get theirs". Customer service aside, the burgers are a solid 6/10. Miller's is a Dearborn institution. It's a no frills dark bar that specializes in a quality burger (also with no frills other than cheese, pickles, onion, mustard and ketchup), no plates, no menus, and the honor system. The cheeseburger is cooked the way you want it and it is a good burger. However, Miller's isn't what it once was. 20 years ago, Miller's had a standard cook who made the burgers and they used a different type of meat. The burgers were better then. At some point a decade or so ago, they switched to pre-formed patties and the old cook disappeared. Ever since, it hasn't been the same and the burgers, while good, aren't the perfection they were when I was younger. And others must have noticed because the long lines out the door at all times of day have disappeared. So should you go to Miller's. Absolutely. But when you wonder what all the hype is about, you'll just have to trust me that it earned the hype at one time. Went to Millers today and sat at the bar. Cheeseburgers are $7.50 with a cheap bun. Ordered 2 cokes at $2.50 each and then I had a French fry at $3.75. Left a tip of $3.75. Lunch cost me $20! What happened? This place has a higher inflation than Venezuela! I would come in with my wife not too long ago and both of us could eat at Miller's at around $18 with tip. This place hasn't remodeled in 30 years since they opened, I'm guessing 40 years or longer. Why are the prices so outrageous for a burger bar? Food was adequate but no pickle, no lettuce still just a huge raw onion. Fries are long and stale. Cokes were good but only in cans. If it is, it's no wonder they've been vote best burger in Detroit for many years running. It's a burger. What more can you say!? Nothing more and nothing less. Simple. In your face. No frills, just good burgers. But that's why it's so good is because they focus on being a bar that serves a good solid burger. 100% beef on a toasted bun. But it's more than that. It's the way they season the grill that makes the burger's flavor pop. And that my friends is why Miller's is so good is because it's a skill they do on their grill which I don't know what it is but there's a punch to the flavor that focuses on the meat that's not so seasoned to the point it loses the savory kick of the beef. But there's also this marriage of a great bun that causes the burger to produce a symphony of flavors and that's where the burger at Miller's shines. Get some sides you're easily looking at over $12. Update: tried to go here and couldn't get in - was stopped at the door. Apparently they are shills for Hillary Clinton and arranged for a photo op at the restaurant the day before the election. This place is OG!! Insider secret, they have really good homemade baked beans, but only for the early birds, because when they are out, they are out. Really nice family owned burger spot. I don't drink, so I only came to eat, they have a section that's away from the bar if you don't want to be near the bar area, which is really nice. We got the cheese burger which is so yummy, the meat is really good. It's juicy, thick, soft, and everything that's amazing. It's not like one of those burgers that you eat and feel disgusting about your self right after, and it's not greasy. There onion rings are delicious! A must try! I like how they have minimal toppings, just the onions and pickles, it makes it more appealing and just about the burger. You either love Miller's or you whine and moan about it. I love Miller's. It is genius in its simplicity. The burgers are a perfect medium rare for me, medium for my husband and both are equally juicy and good. I too like the cheese a lot. My husband likes his plain but I think the toppings (mustard ketchup, onion, pickle) add something. The onion rings are fine as are the fries but truth be told I could easily skip either and have, frankly I'd rather split a second burger. The atmosphere is not what some upscale suburbanites are used to and I say good. If eating on paper scares you and you can't deal with the lack of variety, take your butt back to Red Robin or Applebees or whatever makes you comfy. Dive Bar Service, Chain Restaurant Food, Farm-To-Table Prices Miller's Bar makes a lot of, "Best Of" burger lists, but don't drink the Kool-Aid. On Second thought, if they put Kool-Aid on the menu, get it, because it is probably more satisfying than their beer selection. Miller's is a family restaurant trying to live up to a theme, like Bubba Gump's or Dick's, only the people who run Miller's are real-life slow-witted assholes. However, Miller's Bar isn't what it says it is and the aesthetic was the first sign that they weren't going to live up to their embellished reputation. Though Miller's calls itself a "dive bar", the inside better resembles an Airport TGIFridays. This was probably comfortable and preferable for the white haired boomer on his Bluetooth ignoring his family and the zip-fleece adorned couple with an infant in a high-chair. The Eight Tops The server who seated Kara and I was amenable and helpful, helping us fuse two four-top tables for the eight people due to attend. Unfortunately, she was at the end of her shift and the server who replaced her perfectly embodied Miller's Bar's smug discourteousness and unjustified sense of self-importance. Server #2 crassly listed Miller's few menu items, apparently prideful about its limitations in her embittered and gravelly voice, as though to say, "why don't you know this already?". Inglorious Beerstards Even dive bars in Michigan have a Michigan beer on tap, especially in Metro Detroit. Unfortunately, the only draft Miller's offers (that isn't more popularly consumed while camping with your Confederate Flag apologist redneck uncle) was a Leinenkugal Snowdrift Vanilla Porter. I suppose that is pretty divey, but by that same token the Novi Red Lobster is also a dive bar. To Miller's discredit, Finley's American Grill, a small chain of family steak restaurants in Michigan, offers a better selection of Michigan Craft Beer. Even by family restaurant standards, Miller's fails at beer. Modestly redeemed, Miller's Family Restaurant offered Bell's seasonal Winter White Ale in bottles, which is served along side a very tiny glass that encourages savoring. This is a principle I welcome, but one better enjoyed with a view of Piazza San Marco or the 8th arrondissement and feels somewhat incompatible with a large television showing an NFL Playoff game in a Dearborn Family Restaurant. Also, you need to get a buzz on to tolerate the servers and clientele, and the tiny glass wasn't helping. Tartare or Tar? Miller's Family Restaurant has one job: Get the burgers right. Most of Burger Club was fine with what they ate, but there was a common complaint about burger doneness. Rare was raw, and medium was well-done. It's baffling how a burger joint that hasn't figured out burgers makes so many "Best Of" lists. Food Presented Poorly Miller's does not use plates or even baskets for their burgers. They are served on a piece of wax paper and tossed in front of you like you are Piper Chapman waiting for a Tampon on English Muffin breakfast sandwich. For those who want onions, they are presented in a pile in the middle of the table, smorgasbord style. It's as though they are trying to labor a divey aesthetic without understanding what that means. A dive bar is divey despite itself; Miller's is a trust fund snot wearing distressed-style Diesel jeans and trying too hard to have an edge at a loft party to which they were not invited. Miracle Whip? It's A Miracle I Don't Whip Your Ass For Offering It To Me. Whether you're someone like me who prefers mayonnaise with their fries, likes mayonnaise but not on your fries, or hates mayonnaise, you should resent that Miller's offers Miracle Whip and not Mayonnaise. This isn't a byproduct of aspiring to a dive theme or being a family restaurant, this is just bad taste. Though, this makes sense, people with bad taste are likely Miller's most reliable clientele. Want To Pay For Your Food? Fine, Millennial Scum, Pay-Up. The tab was quite a bit more than I expected given the quality of food and service. At best, Miller's does an adequate burger. However, I waited more than 10 minutes to pay cash to a yuppie jerk with his gut pushing over his belt who treate me like a nuisance even as I patiently waited in line with a stack of cash. If you go to Miller's, I suggest you exploit their honor system by wadding up a $20.00 and throwing it at the Cash Register. They might appreciate your insolent gumption. Like Jay Leno, Miller's Will Please The Easily Impressed Miller's is the Jay Leno of burger joints: Each their popularity can be attributed to the aging, undiscerning, and those easily impressed by shallow and dishonest appeals to a blue-collar sensibility. Sorry folks I'm not drinking the kool-aid on this one. I'd go 5 stars for JUST the burger if I could, but alas the burger doesn't exist in a vacuum. I've been here a few times and OK OK I get it. It's a BAR - it supposed to be dark and a little dingy etc. It is however, clean and the staff is mostly friendly. I have NO problem with the decor or the atmosphere or even necessarily having to eat my burger on a piece of grease paper. Although there were 2 of us I will break down the cost for one. The total cost, excluding tip, for cheeseburger, onion rings and a 16 ounce can of coke was $11.80. With 15% tip that brings the total to $13.45. By the way, unless you are only going to eat a burger with no fries or no drink, the Yelp price category should be $$ NOT $. I'll admit the burger was cooked really well and tasted great, but the onion rings didn't taste house made, they tasted like frozen bagged rings, they were only okay and the canned coke served warm with an 8 oz glass with ice wasn't all that refreshing. I am a guy that focus on value and I can understand why the owners want to keep it simple and I think that's great, but I get the feeling that I sort of paid a premium for the pleasure of slightly-dingy bar surroundings, no silverware, no plates, no menus and a warm 16 oz canned soda. I don't find no plates charming at that price. If they used big pieces of brown paper to cover the tables like some crab places do, THAT might be charming, but I don't know WHAT'S been on that table top and that greased soaked piece of paper is frankly kind of gross. Perhaps the last straw was the fact that they refuse to pay the 2.7% charge (and I'm sure for their volume they would pay closer to 2%) for credit cards and possibly force the customer to pay a $3.50 ATM fee boosting the cost to $15.75. Frankly, that doesn't spell value in my book, that spells mercenary. I don't know this to be the case, however it is even conceivable that they get a piece of the ATM fee for placement in their bar. As a comparison, one of my other favorite award winning burger joints (in Royal Oak - named after a red article of clothing) charges a total cost for cheeseburger, onion rings and refill-able coke for $13.90 ($16 w/tip) and I get plates, silverware, house-made rings, and cold pop. Burger also seems a bit bigger and just as well cooked. Overall great burgers, decent food but poor value. If you are going to try to sell me the kitch and stand on ceremony and not use flatware nor menus nor dishes nor except credit cards nor offer cold fountain drinks (they didn't even bring water!!) and charge me $14 for the pleasure, then perhaps you should expect being called out for being a poor value when compared to your peers. read more

Park in the back, walk along Birch St., the door is in the middle, solid steel! Walk it... to your left is the bar and tables and to the right is more seating area... you seat yourself. (Note: They are open at 10am, but the grill opens at 11am.. so if you are thirsty, head over early). Before you go, make sure you have CASH... they don't take plastics... they do have ATM machine inside. They are known for burgers, although they did add some other menu items. If you want the burger, the ordering is simple... burger with or without cheese, how you want your meat cooked and fries or onion rings. I went with cheeseburger, medium. They will ask you if you want onions (note, they will bring the onion to you). Don't expect much, everything comes on a wax paper... the pickles, ketchup and mustard are on the table for you. Once you get the burger, you build them as you want it... I added a onion ring and fries along with some onion and pickles. It's greasy so have some napkins handy. As for the taste... I had better burgers. I like the fact that they cook the meat to your order... it was juicy, but blend. The onion rings were okay... fries are fries. Don't ask for a check when you are done, go up to the bar and tell them what you had... it's an honor system. Add on some pickles, ketchup, and mustard and you have perfect execution of the most simple of cheeseburgers. The burger almost melts in your mouth and is the perfect blend of textures. I was not keeping track of the time, but my burger disappeared off my plate not too long after ordering it. I find that all of the best burgers I have eaten have this intangible quality where you keep going back for bite after bite (then are gone before you know it). Miller's Bar has the best simple cheeseburger in America. So many people have reviewed this place, I'm not going to add too much to the debate. This place was hyped to me as "the best burger in Dearborn, if not anywhere." They ask you "burger" or "cheeseburger", "fries or onion rings." They've established a reputation for their burger, and I guess they can do that. They do have beans, but you have to ask for them. I ended up getting a cheeseburger with fries. FOOD- Is this the best burger in Dearborn? Maybe. It depends on what type of burger you favor. The pure burger purist would probably like this burger. A good, juicy cheeseburger, well cooked, with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions (pickles and onions are brought to your table to add yourself). Fries were nothing special.
