What just happened?? What did I just experience? Y'all sure do it different 'round here. The appointment confirmation was seamless! I booked my appointment and got both a text and email confirmation instantly. By the time I arrived, the concierge Kevin welcomed me with an offer of a drink, and my barber Aeryk was waiting for me at a clean station. I sat in the chair impressed at how clean and cozy this establishment was. Very nice setup. As if this was not enough, I got a shampoo and condition of my hair, followed by a hot towel for my face/beard. A spritz here and a spray there, I felt truly pampered. This was the best experience that I have encountered by far of true craftsmanship, hospitality, and service with PURE CLASS. From the greeting at the door to the ambience to conversation I was treated with care, CLASS, professionalism. My cut... I can't even call it a haircut this was art work by the master craftsman Aeryk. I enjoyed my experience here, very professional, friendly, timely, and I got a great skin fade by Brian. The place is relaxing, clean, and has a nice aroma therapy vibe going on as you settle in. You are greeted warmly by everyone when you enter the door which I liked too. Honestly though, $45 for a fade on the sides is too expensive (for college students like myself, maybe not older adults) and there are a lot of barber shops in D.C that give good fades for half that price. However, a lot of the DMV barbers are unprofessional, untimely, intimidating, and are not about getting their customers comfortable and relaxed. I chose this place knowing the price and had a great experience that made me content about what I paid and tipped. Very pleased with how they treat each customer. Very profesional, both the barbers and the shop. Everyone in there was treated great and loved there cuts. Now as for me I really wasn't satisfied with my cut. I asked for a Medium skin fade with a 1 on top. Don't think that was to much to ask for, I mean even if you google the images of this cut it's simple. It's a military style cut given that I'm in the army. I didn't end up with a medium skin fade it was more of a "taper" around my ears and the lower part of the back of my head. And I don't think I got a 1 on the top. It looks more of a 2. I know every region of the US has different names for haircuts. I'm not much of a complainer so I didn't say anything. Got home and realized that I really didn't like my cut. read more

LADIES!!!!!! Don't sleep on this place! So, I got my natural hair cut into a short style back in Oct 2015 at a natural hair beauty salon in Bmore and paid $80+. I wasn't really thrilled about the results or the experience. My boyfriend has been getting his hair cut by Sean at the Millennium Salon for a long time, and suggested I go to his barber (on Jan 18, 2016) to clean/shape up my short natural hair. Sean hooked me up!!!!!! My hair looked so beautiful & neat. I explained to Sean what my future hairstyle goal was and he listened. Most importantly, he walked me thru the shaping process, how to achieve/train the look, and explained how it will grow into the style I desired down the line. I normally pay $20 for haircuts in the DC/MD area. I have two sons in college and they require a haircut once a month. My younger son has been growing his hair out for more than a year and is very proud of his crown. He always complains he's unable to get a "sharp" cut except when he's in school in the ATL. I heard about the Millennium experience and went on their Website, read reviews and saw pics of nice cuts. I decided to treat my son to Millennium before he went back to college in two days. This was a $42 cut - ouch but it was my son and a onetime treat. I scheduled and prepaid for the cut last Friday. As we arrived at the salon, my son said, "dad, I have a bad feeling about this." I assured him it should be OK. The barber Aeryk greeted my son and asked him how he wanted his hair cut. My son being skeptical said, just fade the sides and slightly trim his hair. The barber used scissors and quickly chopped my son's hair. He ended up with one of the worse haircuts I have ever seen. Afterwards my son was speechless, saying dad, "look at this, it's horrid" I had been seated in the wait area and when I looked up, I too was in disbelieve. I asked the barber what happened? Not only was it a "messed up" cut but it looked half done. Aeryk said, "I am sorry," looked strange and said, "maybe he," suggesting to the barber next to him, "could fix it." I am like, WHAT? Aeryk shrugged and left the room. The other barber said, "I can try and fix it but it would take a while because I have other appointments back to back." I asked for a refund, voiced my displeasure as my son stood there stunned. I wish I could rate Millennium a minus star for this entire experience and for employing a barber as an experienced (high-fee) professional who screwed up my son's hair (and with no remorse - so it seemed). I would have appreciated if Aeryk said I can't do the style your wants. We would have said thanks for being honest and gone to his regular barber at Afrikutz. I learned a good lesson, just because you pay more doesn't mean you'll get better quality. After this ordeal, my son was extremely upset and wanted to get the rest of his hair cut off because he felt it was ruined and couldn't be fixed. The barber next to Aeryk pleaded to let him fix it. Since my son wanted it all cut off at this point, I convinced him to let the other barber try it. We scheduled to meet Sean at his home the following day. Sean did what he could to fix which was 100 times better than when we left Millennium. My son was still very disappointed but decided to head back to school with a cap on his head on a 6 a.m. Sunday morning flight. Please be aware that you don't always get what you pay for. Please be cautious if you decide to visit this barbershop/salon. There are so many other places that can perform far better that what we experienced and observed. I get my hair cut and colored by Dexter. You would be hard pressed to find a place that provides more impeccable service. My experiences have been nothing but top notch from the cucumber water to having my feet propped up with pillows while having my hair conditioned. When I did a search on Yelp! for Silver Spring barbers, I wanted to find an upscale barber that could do more than just give a quick cut. Millennium came up in the search and I noticed all their reviews were filtered by Yelp. All of the reviews were 5 stars, which made me very skeptical. So, I looked at the Millennium website, which seemed to support the five star reviews on Yelp. So I figured I would give it a try for myself. I called, made an appointment and made my way down to the shop. The shop/salon is in a house, which made me even more skeptical. Like "Is this being run out of someone's home?" When I knocked and the door opened, I was surprised to see the inside was very well designed, more like a salon/spa, very different from the normal black barber shop environment. Todd was the barber I made my appointment with and the first thing he did was wash my hair. That's the first time I had a barber wash my hair as a part of a regular haircut. I thought this was a nice touch. Then as Todd cut my hair, I was able to take in more of the details in the salon which made it a unique experience. I like to think of myself as simple and not wanting a lot of fuss made over me - most black guys don't. We just need a simple cut and fade and we're on our way. But in this case, it felt good to have attention paid to details and to feel like I was not just "the next head". My haircut was really good, got a few compliments during the week after. And I liked that my barber talked a little about hair care and just making sure I drank enough water each day to keep my hair and skin hydrated. I think Millennium deserves all of the five stars given and think the ratings represent the level of service this barber salon delivers. I only gave them a four because I wanted to mix up the ratings a bit, so at some point maybe Yelp will unfilter the other other reviews. If you want an upscale barber experience and you are a black male, I recommend you check out Millennium. This is the best barber salon in the DC-metro area - in my opinion. read more

Great experience. Due to my current work hours I was unable to make it to the salon before they closed. I called towards the end of the day on ( 4-19-16) to schedule an appointment for another time and Dexter the owner answered. I explained my situation and he asked " Can you come today?"
