It is a great place for a good haircut at a great price point. My haircut was $22 for an even haircut with a taper in the back. They also did a razor blade shape up for the sides and front. I hate to wait, so o appreciate their model. There are about 6-7 barbers on the weekends and you can go to whoever is open. If there is a barber you prefer, they have no issue with you saying you would prefer to wait. Free waters for all customers and lollipops for the kids. It's good for individuals, but great for people with kids. It's super in and out based on the model of service. read more

Buyer Beware! Don't bother telling how you want your hair cut because they cut it the way they want. Asked for a trim only along the collar. What I got was, I think, their standard cut for young people. Told the guy I wanted a trim and did not want short hair cut. What I got was a butcher job on the back of hair, nearly a buzz cut. One of the worst cuts ever and I have gone to a barber school in the past. Need to be trained to listen to the customer and not do what they want! read more

**CASH ONLY** Found out after the fact and had to pay an extra 3$ for a surcharge @BoA, which is not my bank. TL;DR - Haircut is not what i asked for (albeit not terribly bad). Wished i communicated and clarified before it was too late to go back. ---- I asked for a fade on the side from a 1 to 4, with about 1cm off the top. When the barber (Cecilia) asked if i wanted it skin or at a 1, i replied 1, and repeated my part about the fade from 1-4, adding on that i want my hair to go straight up (instead of hugging the side of my head). she started cutting my hair and started off fine, but kept going back around the sides 3-4 times, before checking in with me. She finally turned me around to face the mirror and asked if i wanted it shorter, which is when i realized she went from a 0-1 on the sides, maybe a 2 at best towards the top. After trying to mention that the sides were too short, i think there was a miscommunication on what i was trying to say. Instead of causing a scene, i just let her finish the cut. Should have clarified more before having her start, and the language barrier didn't help. She is thorough and decent at cutting hair, just had trouble communicating exactly what i wanted. read more

On the one hand, it's cheap, on the other hand, if you're a guy and ask for a shorter haircut, the de facto result is that you basically end up with a buzz cut and walk out looking like you're heading off to basic training. I know it's a cheap barber and not a "stylist", but still...don't expct much more than your hair will be shorter (much shorter) than when you walked in. read more

The Arcade is a very classic barber shop, having been there for decades and has a really nice look. Offering complimentary beverages which I always enjoyed and a normally short to no wait time. I have been going there for years and unfortunately the quality of the haircuts has gone down hill. I think describing a desired cut should be a simple process and showing pictures would make desires clear, but it seemed every time my cut would come out very different then requested. Even when I finally got the correct cut the next visit would result in having to spend months growing out my hair to correct a mistake. Additionally if they think you don't understand their language, they sometimes speak critically of your request with each other, which is unprofessional. read more

Yes they are married and have been at this site for many decades since immigrating from South America. The woman is great with kids and seems to do a lot of them. We have taken our sons there for about 10 years. I would not try to ask for anything novel or fancy, but I haven't needed to yet. And, yes, she does much much better than him with all ages I think. He has good days and bad days, apparently, but since I worry more about the kids' hair than my own he usually does mine. It is very basic, and it is rarely wonderful, but usually fine. I have never had the horrible results of other posts, but I can't say that I am surprised by them. Often there is a line waiting for her while he sits reading the paper. Only one less than satisfactory experience over 5 years means five star in my book. This barber shop has 2 barbers. A man and a women. The women runs the shop. She gives good hair cuts. The man is terrible. I am still getting over the trauma of one of his hair cuts and it has been over two years. When I went to a neighborhood party after my bad haircut everyone had a bad hair cut story about this man. I always wondered why the women did not fire the man. Later someone told me that they are a husband and wife team. If you need to get a haircut avoid the guy and go for the women. read more

I've stopped going to an expensive hair place where ultimately, the only thing different from arcade barbers cuts was the price. This place has gone from BAD/AVOID (when it was owned by an older couple and was all green inside) to MY FAVE, BUT YOU MIGHT NEED TO WAIT (newer Latinx owners and red interior). The new owners employ several barbers so even if there's a line, you won't be waiting long. They have a little fridge with free bottled water and soda cans, toys for kids, and retain the old 1950's Americana vibe with a modern, diverse twist. Their haircuts are no-nonsense and none of the staff will chat your ears off with small talk -- maybe that's a minus for you, but I really like just having my hair cut and zoning out. The men's haircut finishes with hot shaving cream, a straight razor shape-up, and yummy-smelling bay rum after shave. Someday I need to come in for an old-fashioned barber shop shave. I'm glad that this small local business seems to be doing so well. When you're done with your haircut, get a donut at Woodmoor Pastry Shop, a sub at Santucci's Deli, or a bottle of wine at Woodmoor Supermarket, all in the same building. Each of these businesses share the same small-town, mid-century vibe. I like to think that Arcade Barber Shop is firing on all cylinders like it did when it first opened like 60 years ago. read more

Obviously, I did not find it as hard as some others to communicate with the older man who cut my hair nearly every time after I clarified just what I wanted and reminded him on subsequent visits. Regardless, all that is moot now, because a new, younger man and woman have taken over the shop from their retiring predecessors. I got an excellent cut from the woman on Saturday, including straight-razor shaving around the ears and at the back of the neck --- the first time I had that in years. I was apprehensive at 1st from all the bad reviews, but I stopped by anyway. Was pleasantly surprised! The shop is under new ownership and they now do shaves; which I've always wanted to get done. I recently visited this barbershop with my father who is picky about his haircut. We had visited this barbershop a couple months ago and my dad hated it and was completely upset about his haircut. However because we were in the area we decided to stop by and give it another chance. We found out that they are now owned by different people and under new management. My father was so happy about his haircut and says that he will continue getting a haircut there with Ricardo on a weekly basis.
