I always get my haircuts here since I moved to Silver Spring in 2023. It's never super crowded, so there's not long wait times and the work is quality work. This most recent time, I went after work and got a haircut, eyebrows trimmed and my beard trimmed. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. I have been going to this place on and off for years and their service has been consistently great regardless of which person does my haircut. Tamara is my favorite but others are great too. I would ask for Tamara when there isn't a big wait time but otherwise go with whoever is available first and still never disappointed with the service. The staff is pretty nice, does a no nonsense, super quick service and listen to your requests. Some staff members like Steve take appointments too to manage the wait times better. So make sure to call them if you want a particular person and don't have time to wait. The price is pretty reasonable for Silver Spring rates. Difficult to get parking right in front of the building but you can find metered parking very easily if you go to Spring street. read more

Literally the worst barbershop I've been to. Asked for a medium skin fade and the guy had to look at a picture to see what I meant. This is a no-frills barber shop. My boyfriend's haircut used to be $20 here, but prices are going up as of this month. If you're a regular, you can get your haircut here by the same person each time, and there are a few people who are really good. If you are a non-regular walk in, you'll get randomly assigned. Cuts, on average, are pretty decent. On the weekend, parking is free in the garage nearby. Honestly, the reason my bf started going here is that the price is low and cuts are reliable. I have been coming here since 2007 and I will continue to do so as long as I am within 200 miles of Silver Spring! Tamara cut my hair for years but since she has such a loyal following she encouraged me to branch out and try one of the other barbers that work here. Since then I have had my cut done by everyone. I am a fan of Ibrahim, but Sonny is my man for the past two years now. He got me to grow my hair out and try different looks, he shapes my beard, and he does the best fades in the shop hands down. I have never gotten a bad haircut here and they are one of the few places that everyone is able to use a straight edge razor to clean up neck/facial hair, etc... This is the place where people get to know you and remember your name if you become a regular. They are all very friendly and are fantastic barbers. It does get busy on the weekends so be prepared for a wait, but they are open on Sunday's as well. Tamara has invested a lot of money back into her business over the years (I have witnessed the changes that are all for the better) and I will continue to patronize them, and so should you! read more

DO NOT GO HERE DURING COVID. I just got my haircut here and it was the most dangerous, unprofessional experience I've had since lockdown. Someone who works here, who wasn't even cutting my hair, just spent my entire visit within 6 feet of me without a mask on, just chatting to the guy cutting my hair. I asked him to pull his mask up, and he proceeded to tell me that MASKS DO NOT WORK because "the disease is too small". And everyone else in the barbershop said nothing, I had to be the one to argue with this asshat. Do not go unless you want everything cut off. I went in for a trim and left with less than half of my hair. I asked multiple times for "just some off the back" and mentioned "I'd like to keep the length" but my barber kept cutting. Not only was too much taken off but the back and sides are incredibly uneven. Did not catch the barber's name but he was the second chair on the right. After a negative experience at the Downtown Super Spring location of Hair Cuttery, I decided to try this highly rated barber shop. I am happy to say this is the only place I've gone to this past year and I do not intend to go anywhere else. All the barbers give very high quality hair cuts and beard trims, although Theresa and Sonny are my favorite. I have only gone on weekends, when the wait can be like an hour long. This is obviously due to more customers working during the week and people bringing their kids as well. The cost is a few dollars more than the Hair Cuttery, though for the quality of the haircut and the professionalism of all the barbers, it is certainly worth the extra bucks. My only suggestion is to maybe have later hours on the weeknights to relieve the weekend wait, but I have no issue waiting as there has always been a seat to wait in when I arrived. read more

Was a very fast, but good hair cut (10 min, tops - I like fast/efficient hair cuts) but a little bit of a wait (15 min -- midday and midweek, no need for an appointment and no one was manning the desk when I was there, the barbers ring you up). My haircut and shave did not go as planned or I should say hoped for . The guy did not speak jack English , ok it's cool . His hands were shaking like a weeping willow. He was using a clipper like he was mowing his lawn. He cut the back of my head and there goes the shave . Very disappointed.. I brought my grandson in to have his hair cut. The shop is nice inside, plants are beautiful. Female barber greeted me she was very nice. As my grandson (a 4th grader in elementary school) waited, we didn't wait long, The young male barber was ready to cut my grandsons hair, the cut was a basic, nothing fancy,but what disturbed me was he charged me 25.00 for the cut. ( the price of a grown adult!!). My grandson's hair is short (African american in the 4th grade!!). He I thought maybe 13 to 15 ..I understand but 25.00, but if that where this young man heart was ..than so be it. Went there based on the recommendations of others. Not much variety of barbers, mostly those that worked on Caucasian hair. Me being an African-American, I usually go to a black barbershop, but I wanted to try something different. I got cut by Steve. He was ok, not much of a talker but was nice. I asked to do a line up, (which was $16 by his prices) and charged me $28. I didn't put up much of a stink, I just put it as being his tip. In the shop, I liked the cut but when I got home, I was not satisfied with my cut, it looked like a $10 cut. Went to this place after reading the positive reviews due to its proximity, a decision I will regret till my hair grows back. Had my hair cut by Tamara. She herself is a kind hearted person, but her ability to cut hair leaves much to be desired. I asked her to leave length so that I could style it. I said this about 3-4 times during the haircut, as I felt her continuing to clip and clip. I left the shop looking like an army recruit. If you want a generic short haircut for $18 plus tip, this is the place to go. If you don't want to look like you're newly enlisted at the Walter Reed Army base, I would advise finding a place with more talented barbers/stylists. read more

I've given this place 4 or 5 tries now and I won't be going back. The barbers don't care what your hair looks like, they just try to pump you out as fast as possible. I told the guy "leave most of the length on top" and he proceeded to basically give me a buzz cut. I don't know if he just wasn't listening, didn't understand, didn't care or what but if you can't even follow a basic request like that you shouldn't be working as a barber. The place is always dirty because they don't sweep up the hair very often. Most of the barbers just throw their their guards in a pile at their station with a bunch of hair and don't even bother brushing the hair off between clients. They're also rude, and I've seen them take a call in the middle if cutting someone's hair multiple times. There's also always a long wait for some reason, which I really don't understand. read more

I'm going to agree with Roy and say that Tamara is the best! I went here for the first time today (and my first haircut in MD). The prices were a little higher than my previous barber, Charlie's Barber Shop up in Cambridge (http://www.yelp.com/biz/charlies-barber-shop-cambridge-2), but the end result was well worth it! Not only did Tamara give me an excellent haircut, but provided a chance to practice my now well-rusty Russian. *apparently Yelp doesn't do Cyrillic characters or else you'd see my Russian exclamation of joy here*! Also, she informed me that I've apparently been combing my hair wrong for my entire life and that now that she's corrected me my hair should be much more manageable in the future. Very friendly local barbershop with reasonable prices ($18 for dudes) and fast service. They are open on Sundays, which is worth a trillion dollars, but you sometimes have to wait (try not to go between 11:30 and 1:30). I've had my hair cut by everyone who works on Sundays and they are all very good and very fast. This is a no-nonsense kind of place (though they are all super nice), so I probably wouldn't go here for a new style or before a wedding, but for trims and regular stuff they're a great option. Decided to go here after reading reviews that the eyebrow threading was great and only $8.00. Unfortunately the pricing is now $14.00 which shocked me coming from NY where I usually pay $5.00. But since I was already there and really needed my eyebrows in order I figured I give it a shot. The guy who did my brows was amazing very quick and gentle and attentive. I moved to the Silver Spring area in May, which meant it was time for a new barber. I found this place from Yelp, and I've been impressed since. I've always come Saturday mornings from 9am-9:30am and there's never been a wait. It's always been an Asian gentleman who cuts my hair, and he's great. He's not very talkative (and it's difficult to understand the questions he asks when cutting your hair), but he's focused and he does a great job. The other barbers there are very friendly and say things like, "Thank you for your business!" when leaving. I enjoy hearing remarks like that as it seems many businesses forget how important a customer's business is, even if it's one customer. Price is $18 for a basic hair cut. That seems to be near the typical price around the DC Metro area (~$20). There's not a single complaint I have toward this place. I keep coming back every 2-3 weeks and I intend on returning. read more
