This vintage gallery features a mix of different vendors displaying their goods. I really enjoy this setup because you get an eclectic collection and interesting ways the vendors present their items. It's full, but not overwhelming, and the space is brightly lit and generally clean. Easy to find with plenty of parking. Definitely worth a stop!

I discovered Mill Street Marketplace through the CT Witch Crawl. Checked it out on a Saturday and loved it so much that I returned a week later for their one year anniversary. Mill Street Marketplace is a collective of about 80 different vendors in one place. Offerings vary from vintage furniture and decor to handmade pottery to jewelry to clothing and more. Florapothecarie, a local skincare line of 100% natural and vegan beauty products, has a nice display in one of the alcoves. My favorite is Silent Bones, which mixes estate taxidermy pieces, antique tchotchkes, and newer whimsical insect mount shadowboxes, and more. If you're looking for a gift for someone, you'll likely find the perfect one here. And if you need a pick-me-up for yourself, just wandering through all these different options will do the trick. There are even some witchy shops, like Third Eye Open. Give yourself some time to fully immerse and explore. There aren't many staff members, but everyone I spoke with was friendly and helpful. So many great deals can be found. I can't wait to return!

They sell plants and flowers, but I didn't pay attention to that aspect of their operations. Cold Spring sells some of their own produce, products from other CT Farms and/or Orchards, Cold Spring branded products such as salsa, and other area products such as bread from a local bakery. I bought green cabbage, peaches, celery and salsa. Everything seemed appropriate quality for seasonal CT produce. The produce I didn't buy also looked good and represented what's in season pretty well. I will definitely go back for in season produce since I live in the area. This is an observation as opposed to a criticism. The reason I'm giving Cold Brook 4 Stars rather than 5 Stars relates to the extent of their offerings compared to another Farm Stand I frequently visit that's a bit farther away. That Farm Stand has a wide range of partnerships with high end CT businesses and they have things like high quality bagels, cheeses, pies, cupcakes, ice cream sandwiches, etc. That Farm Stand also has a wider range of canned goods, meats, and dairy products etc. I would travel farther to a Farm Stand like that because there are more products that interest me. Cold Spring will be the place I go for convenience when I want in season produce for a few days.

As they price individually and in sets, you may end up bringing home more plants than planned, but this is a good spot to get it all started. We now have a glorious set of tomatoes in progress, and now a couple extra tomato planters. The double decker wagons all over also help you take home more. The little farm store, extra colorful with its murals, has honey, maple syrup, salsa, and maybe more on down the season. It's neat to see start and end of season at the checkout, and the staff was kind. Thankfully there is extra parking is on both sides of the farm store, in case you're driving East, just look out for wagon traffic on your way through each greenhouse.

Old Cider Mill - Apple fritter

When looking up fall activities to due with kids, Old Cider Mill popped up in multiple…read morerecommendations on social and on the web. Folks it isn't just another farm where you can snag a pumpkin. Old Cider Mill is one of the OLDEST operating cider mill in the U.S. Yes, in the entire U.S, opening operations in the 1870s. This cider mill is situated on a cute little farm called Riverview Farms. Its important to know that if you are looking for a large farm where you can all day "pick your own", corn mazes, and more, this place isn't it. But I found this place a cute destination that has a few things to do with my toddler for 1-2 hrs. When you pull in to the farm, the old building is literally the first thing you see from the road with gords, pumpkins, apples and more spread out to purchase. Very similar to an open layout farmers market. A lot of the fruits they have for purchase aren't grown by them but are locally grown from the Glastonbury area. The parking is up the side and in the back. There is plenty of parking. Parking is on a wide dirt road with pull in parking on the left and right. I had no issues getting in and leaving. They make FRESH apple fritters and of course apple cider. I got hot apple cider from the food truck they have but id recommend just buying their cold apple cider inside the barn (if you dont want it warm) and BYOC to drink it with the apple fritters from the truck. For me, I wish I did because my daughter did better with drink it from a sippy cup. Where you will spend the bulk of your time and which I thoroughly enjoyed was the petting zoo. The cost to get a cup of animal feed is only a $1 or $2. They also give you a feeding stick to put the feed on so your children do not need to put their hands near the animals mouths. You will NEED cash to do this activity since its so cheap. You can pay at the entrance of petting zoo. If you dont have cash, you can still get tickets/tokens (dont remember what it was) inside their general store found inside the old barn building in the front but you need to purchase other stuff (I think there was a card minimum). There was no ATMs. I planned to purchase homemade stuff inside the store anyways. The petting zoo has all your standard farm animals (chickens, roosters, sheep, goats and more). There is plenty of space inside to move around, so even if its busy, you wont have to wait to feed the animals. The general store is bigger than it looks from the outside as they have like half level room (kind of like a basement that you can go down into with old gift shop stuff). They have hand made crafts, nice decorative stuff, locally made dressings, jams, picked stuff, salsa, and of course, apple based products like donuts (made at another farm), apple cider and more. I'd go here again if I'm on the area as its an easy and cute place to bring your children for a quick 1-2 hrs if you don't want or can invest an entire day to a fall activity. Check out of your Connecticut historical destinations and visit Old Cider Mill.

The Old Cider Mill is one of those old historical places located in South Glastonbury"been there…read moreforever" which I actually was able to go to back in my grammar school days 50 years ago with my brownie troop to see the actual cider mill press in operation, making fresh apple cider. It's no longer in operation and now the apple cider is brought in from Riverview Farms and sold alongside the famous apple fritters which is not the same. Also there is huge displays of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes along with white pumpkins and gourds available and sold along with scare crows and corn stacks. They draw in a huge crowds on weekends and warned that in addition to the throngs of people clamoring for their Fall fix and Autumn photo opportunity. The traffic congestion goes along with the location. A lot of out of state cars of visitors that come on the weekends for the month of October. Don't be turned off as it's a great place to visit.

In any event, there was a good mix of farm vendors and specialty food vendors like More Pasta Lab, Pan de Oro Chips, Granny's Pie Factory, Ovelle Coffee Roasters and Whisked by Dani. There were at least a couple of food trucks. We bought some cookies, chips, and vegetables. It's definitely a market worth checking out if you're in the general Wethersfield area. 4 Stars

It was very manageably sized, with plenty of vendors, but not enough to make our visit unmanageable. We strolled the grounds, taking in the sites, and enjoying the live music being performed. With vendors selling a wonderful variety of Fruits, Vegetables, Meats, Dairy, Flowers, salsas, chips, baked goods, Italian ice, cheese, coffee, and pasta, you could easily plan a week's worth of meals right here. If you want pizza, there was a Square Peg Pizza truck on site. Oh, and let's not forget the dozen artisans and craftsmen showing off their hand made creations everywhere. And here's something you don't see at a lot of Farmers Markets - a massage station! We stopped at Whisked By Dani's booth and treated ourselves to two gigantic cookies, then we stopped at the Pan de Oro Chips and Salsa booth and guess what? We picked up a big bag of Mexican Street Corn flavored tortilla chips and two very reasonably priced jars of salsa (just $4 each). The Wethersfield Farmers Market's season ran from May 30, 2024, through October 10, 2024, on Thursdays from 3pm-6pm, so sadly they are done for the year. See you there next May.
