Pitched as an "open-air street food destination designed to promote the collective culture of Hartford", I was really excited for the second round of this gathering. But with so few vendors, I left wanting more. The featured tastes were food trucks that offered pizza from New Haven Pizza food truck, Puerto Rican cuisine from Samba's, tapas from the Mercado gals (really tasty) and finally soups from a local vendor. With their headquarters right next door, Hartford Denim Company was in full force. With an array of equipment, maps, cassettes, knick knacks as well as a small introduction of apparel up for sale -- they by far had the biggest presence. Brothers Crisp had a small presentation of their shoes. The live music was entertaining, and the DJ had decent playlists. Caral Restaurant provided libations with their full bar. Other than that, this was it. Altogether, this was just ok. Parkville has been a source of huge potential for some time, and I am hopeful that next time this event happens, the rich source of creativity and community will soon be tapped into. More specifically: a bigger repertoire of market vendors and food trucks to try.

Omg this place is amazing! There is so much stuff to be looked at!…read more First off, this place is great to support a local business and not those Salvation Army and Good Will Stores. More packed here than any of those other places. I was (and still am) a bit confused... I guess the whole building is known as "Tilton & Cook Market Place" but each floor is a different owner.. or rather it's a business that rents out space to vintage/thrift stores. On the first floor I was told there were 5 different owners, but it's really hard to figure out whose stuff is whose and if you're entering another "store". Just remember where you got stuff. There is also a place to eat and relax on the first floor which is pretty cute, but I didn't look at the menu cause I wasn't hungry. People there were pretty nice. You really have to go digging around here (or in some areas). I was only able to get to the second floor... I think I was there for about 2hrs... there is just so much stuff! (I didn't even finish the second floor). From my understanding, each floor is its own "shop" (except for the first floor). But no one seems to have their own name... just "Tilton & Cook Market Place" or "Tilton & Cook Corp". Make sure to bring lots of cash... no one in the building can take credit/debit. And at last, the days and hours for these shops are all the same. I could be wrong on a few things here, but this is all what I gathered and understood. Im definitely gonna have to return. Such a great find!

Still a fun place to go to when in the right mindset. Poked around in the fall event this year,…read moregood weather, pleasant vendors, live music was a good touch in the food area too.

Went here today and it was an experience to say the least lol. First of all so many of these areas…read moreare charging an admission fee on top of the parking fees. This older guy told us it was one price, then FORTY DOLLARS the next. A fee for a fee! Way to go! On top of the impossible parking, lots of people wandering around. The place is busy as hell. So much to see to the point it's overwhelming. A lot of country decor which isn't really my thing. Mostly overpriced stuff. Halloween blow molds going for damn near $100. Another pet peeve of mine haha. The food: avoid the pizza stand. You'll get ripped off. $22 for two slices and some of the worst lemonade I've ever had. No sugar all sour. Burned my throat. None of these food stands talk to each other, so these refills in those collector cups only really matter at the place you got your food from. Even tho there are a few fountain dispensers in the food area. Just try to sneak a refill in if you can get away with it! Be prepared to do A LOT of walking here as well. There's not many benches or seats to sit on if you get tired which is ridiculous. Not to mention bathrooms are scarce. Honestly if you're not into crowds and spending more money on fees than antiques, give this one a pass. Not sure if I'd go again. Not really what I expected it to be. I did get a couple CD's here for a buck and a retro McDonald's sign. But everything else I saw was way out of my price range and so not worth it lol.

"Walking in the wild west end Walking with your wild best…read morefriend" (Dire Straits) We found the West End Farmer's Market behind Farmington Avenue between Clemens Place Apartments and the Mark Twain House. There is excellent signage on Farmington Avenue that leads you to a big lot behind the market. We saw a smallish number of eclectic vendors - a Jamaican food stand, a bakery, a few produce stands, a jewelry stand, an artwork stand, a Hartford Library on Wheels truck, and more. We made two purchases - a Nutella babka from Manchester's Wicked Good Bakes and a Jerk Barbecue Mushroom Patty Panada from Hartford's The Ital Juicery Company. I had an absolute blast at the Ital Juicery stand. They had three generations of charming and delightful women behind the counter. That Patty Panda (sort of a cross between an Empanada and a Jamaican Patty) was a good-sized portion, somewhat justifying the hefty $10 price tag, but the flavor was amazing. Smoky, savory, and spicy, I mean sneaky spicy. Not sure what kind of peppers were in there, but if you told me they were Jamaican Scotch Bonnets I would not be surprised. That afterburn lasted over half an hour. I'll definitely be on the lookout for The Ital Juicery Company when I make the rounds of upcoming Farmer's Markets. As for the West End Farmer's Market, they're open on Tuesdays between June and September from 4pm-7pm. The hours change slightly to 3pm-6pm in October. PRO TIP Five stars for their community service vibe. "The West End Farmers' Market of Hartford believes that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy and delicious food". To that end, they match SNAP/EBT spending, effectively doubling the amount a buyer can use there.

The West End Farmers Market is the best Farmers Market of all CT!!…read more I went to 3 Farmers Markets today. This is truly what I have been looking for. Native healing herbs. Friendly, knowledgeable and willing to share suggestions with the community. Kind and supportive. Every table I touched was so passionate about what they have grown, or made to offer. To future customers I would like to share don't ever judge a book by its cover. The road work did not stop me. So glad I found my way. From the freshest fruit of the season all the way to the Maple Syrup, Sour Dough. Micheal and his abundant happy herbs, jewelry and soap. The comfrey plants were such a joy to my eyes. Healing through herbs is the way we're supposed to heal. Coexist with the plant kingdom. The community at this market was nothing but love Looking forward to my next return back to CT
