I've had braces as child. I had them on for almost 5 years. That was close to 20 years ago. As a 36…read moreyear old female, my teeth had shifted a bit and a small gap had opened up in the very front on the top arch. It was very obvious! I had an awesome smile for 20 years and couldn't imagine going through the rest of my life with a gap in the very front. With that thought, I decided to get braces again. Or so I thought... I had called around to at least 10 orthodontics office's in the Kansas City Metropolitan area and I had gone into more than several for consultations. I figured I'd need braces on the 6 teeth in the front. EVERY SINGLE ORTHO I called and went into for a consult, I was informed that they wouldn't do just the top arch. This meant that every Ortho wanted to put a full set of braces on even though the bottom arch didn't need them, but they refused to do just the top. As soon as I was given that information the appointment or phone call was over. There was no way I'd spend that kind of money on something I didn't need. I received estimates for a full set of braces at all of these businesses before leaving their office. The most I was quoted was $6,100.00 and the least was $3,400.00. The least amount was even for Invisiline Express. It blew my mind that a supposed "reputable" company would take advantage of a possible future patient like that. So, I kept calling around to get quotes, right? I came across an Orthodontics office called Hannah Orthodontics located in Shawnee, Kansas. I was excited after I called them for the first time. They informed me that they offered several solutions for individuals who had braces as a child but needed help as an adult. I made an appointment for the next day. Their office was clean, the staff was soooo kind & informative and the office had just been remodeled. I went through the appointment expecting to shell out about $2,000.00 for braces and another year of my life in braces. Dr. Hannah came into the exam room, looked at the x-rays and did an exam. He then informed me that it'd take about 6 months and ONLY cost $300.00. He recognized my top arch was the only thing that needed work and here's the best part... He could shift my teeth back into place using the traditional retainer!! I was so floored with that information that I started to tear up a bit. It's a bit embarrassing, I know, but to find an Ortho who wasn't in the business to take advantage of a patient was incredible! So, in the end, it cost me $300.00 and that includes the office visits I need to go back for so they can adjust the retainer. I'm now in a top retainer and my gap has started to close a month into wearing them. I would go to this business over and over and will recommend it to anyone looking for a great smile. We used Resolve from January 2023- up until around late last summer. Location: 5/10 The location is ideal, but can be far for folks that live further south. Sadly, it was inconvenient for us. Telehealth is available, but keep this in mind for evening appointments when are battling rush hour and peak travel times. Availability: 2/10 The LSCW we were paired had limited availability. She booked clients back to back, with little breaks in between. This made it difficult to schedule anything with her. Her latest appointment was 8pm; which worked for us briefly, but it quickly led to her burnout and emotional unavailability to my child. It was also pretty difficult to get ahold of her. Initially, I had to reach out to the front desk/admin to relay a message or schedule an appointment. I finally requested her direct email to reach out, which slightly improved communication. Vibe Check: 2/10 The office itself is nice, but the vibe was way off to me. The decor reminds me of a dentist office in the late 70's, early 80s and smelled like the plastic bib they place over you before starting a cleaning. It just did not feel very welcoming or inviting to me. I always felt awkward being in the waiting room. I know it is not easy having your child go to therapy, but nobody looked happy to be there. It was the ultimate doom and gloom. Nap time: 0/10 During my child's sessions, the therapist would wrap themselves in a blanket and doze off. This was no surprise to me, as she scheduled her last appointment at 8pm. Eventually, she started cutting back her hours to be done around 5, but at that point, burnout had set in and the damage to my kid had been done. This is beyond unprofessional. Improper Termination: 1/10 I really do not think termination was properly done with my kiddo in a way that provided closure. Luckily, we were able to find services with another therapist, but there was just lack of communication and closure at the end of our time with her. Again, this is due to burnout, which is common with therapists that book the way she did. Overall: 2/10 I cannot recommend this Resolve location to anyone I love and care about. I honestly believe there is not great management at this location because I observed burnout and the therapists did not seem happy to be there. There are better options in the city for therapy services for your kiddo. (KC PCIT)

We have been patients since 2011, among the earliest to support Dr. Dostal and his practice. In the beginning, our experiences were consistently positive. However, over the years, as the practice expanded, the level of care and transparency we once appreciated has noticeably declined. A recurring issue we encountered was billing discrepancies. During routine visits, we were consistently told that procedures were covered by our insurance, only to receive unexpected bills afterward for services deemed "not covered." On multiple occasions, we were quoted an estimated out-of-pocket cost for additional dental work, which we paid at the time of service--only to be billed later for significant additional charges. These surprises became the norm rather than the exception. We reached out to the office manager regarding these issues and were told the matter would be investigated. We never received any follow-up. To make matters worse, we later learned--during a routine check-up--that the office had stopped accepting our insurance. We were never notified in advance, not even with a courtesy call or letter. The billing system is disorganized and lacks clarity. We repeatedly asked for cost breakdowns and confirmation of any required payments prior to treatment, yet we continued receiving confusing and delayed invoices months later, with charges that were difficult to decipher. When we expressed our concerns, the response from staff was dismissive and unprofessional, with one staff member simply stating that "it sucked." It's deeply disappointing to see how a practice that once prioritized patient care and trust has become increasingly profit-driven. There was a time when we had complete confidence in this office and never experienced billing issues. Sadly, that trust has eroded. Transparency, communication, and patient loyalty have clearly taken a back seat. read more

We've been going to Mill Creek Dental for several years now and are quite pleased with the personal attention and professional approach that their staff provides us. Everyone is quite friendly, very helpful, and quite knowledgeable regardless of our individual needs. They provide a comprehensive and ever growing list of dental services to better serve their patients. Recently, Dr. Mike conducted a root canal for my wife even though it was in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. The second we walked in, we were greeted by the front desk and they gladly provided us with a child toothbrush and paste so I could pre-brush my son's teeth before the appointment. Our hygienist was great when explaining everything to my very nervous son (first time at the dentist). She let him be involved in each step and made sure he was comfortable and agreeable before she attempted anything. I was expecting him to clamp shut and that this visit be an epic failure, but she was able to count, brush, floss and treat his teeth! Drs. Mike and Lauren are always great to work with. I absolutely LOVE this office! I had gone to the same dentist since I was a child and switched to Mill Creek Dental because I moved into the area. I had no idea what I was missing for all those years! Everyone I have met is wonderful - the front desk, my hygenist, and Dr. Dostal. He took a lot of time explaining everything to me so I felt completely comfortable. As someone without insurance, I felt their charges were competitive and they were very up front with any additional procedures I needed done. First, the staff is absolutely phenomenal!!!! The real issue is the quality of the products. I have now had crowns fall off 3 times. The last one only lasted two months. Although they are kind enough to repair it under warranty, this costs me vacation time and money every single time I have to go back to have the same work completed. I don't live close. I have never had this issue with any other dentist. I opted not to go back this time for repair, as it seems pointless, so this one put me out a lot of money. I had implants put in this past year. I went to three different places to get prices and information on the implants. Millcreek was the only place that took the time listen to what I wanted out of this experience. Dr. Ryan Brittingham was fabulous he gave me opinion that I didn't know I had. Dr.B explain it so I understood what was going to happen and the experience was exactly what he said. We have used Mill Creek for dentistry for all four of our family members for the last five years including some extensive work done to my girls' dad. Now my oldest daughter has braces and we've had no problems. My youngest will be getting braces this year and we plan to use MCD for hers as well. I was really sad when they stopped accepting BCBS because I had to find a new provider for myself. It's hard to find a dentist who you can trust and I trust Mill Creek Dental. I'm new to the area and chose Mill Creek Dental as my new dental provider. They have been absolutely wonderful to work with. I decided to replace all my old fillings and get 3 crowns I needed. I'm not a huge fan of going to the dentist, but the staff here made me feel relaxed and did an excellent job. I highly recommend this dental office. read more

Myself and my 4 year old son were due for our cleanings today. My appointment was at 10, my son's an hour after. We were both done within 40 minutes due to Joey's efficiency! Dr Mike and his staff are wonderful. They do everything they can to get you in for a last minute ortho appointment-like when my daughters retainer broke-they got us right in and they have the technology to take a digital picture to send off to make a new one. read more

My third appt was to get some cavities filled by Dr Jessup, I had no issues with pain before the fillings but now am in a lot of pain and it's been 4 months since then. So I was not happy with that. I went in today for a cleaning from Dr Hutchinson, she was super kind and helpful on a plan to get my tooth to no longer hurt, she said that the filling I was given needed to be fixed and that should solve the pain. Overall I would definitely reccomend the office as the desk gals and hygienists are wonderful and so is Dr Hutchinson but I wouldn't reccomend seeing Dr Jessup. Also the location is kind of interesting to get to but once you've gone once it'll be a breeze to get to again. They do have a parking lot which I appreciate, and the office is very cozy and clean inside as well!

But my most recent experience was so pleasantly memorable, I felt compelled to post a review. It was not just a routine cleaning, which have all been fine, but a replacement of old cavity fillings. First of all, I did not feel a THING when the novacaine injection was administered. I mean, seriously, I was sitting there wondering "did he inject the novacaine yet?" before I realized yes he had. And I'm kind of a baby about novacaine in the first place. Secondly, the whole procedure was done smoothly, with excellent teamwork between Dr. Alexander (I hope it's Dr. Alexander and that I'm getting his name right, he's great) and the technician (sorry, I don't remember her name but she's great too, very personable and professional). They had a good collaboration where she could anticipate what he needed next and when I needed to be suctioned, etc. It just went very smoothly. Felt no pain, and it was efficiently done. Thirdly, I needed no adjustment at all. Sometimes with these fillings, it can end up a little high, and your bite just isn't quite right. Nope, 24 hours later I don't even REMEMBER that I just had these fillings done. The bite was perfect on the first try. And you have what you need - tissues, cups, rinse, bing, bang boom, procedure done, you're on your way. Oh yeah, I forgot, you can even eat and drink RIGHT after the procedure is finished. And I did (sorry, I know I said I wouldn't when I was there but I did because I COULD) eat and drink shortly afterwards and had no problems at all. And the staff are great. They're nice to you when you arrive and good about scheduling and great about billing. They listen to you, pay attention, they just do a great job with customer service. I've left physicians practices solely based on the behavior of the office staff even if I like the physician. Not an issue with Olathe Famly Dentistry, they're great to work with. And they accept my dental insurance (MetLife Dental).
